What a neat place to go on a cold miserable rainy day! It is usually a pain to try to park here,due to the limited spaces. Many people just make their own spots on the side of the building. We lucked out and was able to find a space but you could only back into it. There was plenty of tables to choose from; we opted for a two person high table w/stools,by the window. I ordered a dark roast coffee with steamed almond milk,and added a splash of hazelnut; it was really good. My husband ordered a chocolate frozen coffee drink. I saw the bakery case and asked if there was any gluten free options. Sadly no... The did have a variety of gf kind bars, other protein bars, chocolate covered almonds. Unfortunately,several contained soy or dairy. There were some RX Bars which were free of dairy and soy, I just didn't notice them at the time. I was almost tempted to get the chocolate covered espresso beans,but they would probably be gone in a matter of seconds,and I would be up all night. I did find some Carmel chews and they helped with my sugar craving. They were extremely understanding about my allergy and accommodated my needs. I enjoyed my visit. Dark. Chocolate. Mocha. YES, PLEASE!! Even though I spent 4 years or so in the Seattle area, the overly sweet coffee drinks from Starbucks are not my cup of tea, er, coffee ;) I still enjoy a great sweet-er drink every now and again, and for that, Caribou is my new favorite spot! I love the dark chocolate option for a mocha -- it's not nearly as sweet as a milk chocolate drink, and I just have a dark chocolate preference anyway I guess. The chocolate is sweet enough, and the coffee is strong enough too! I do like the flavor and strength of coffee in their drinks here -- definitely a great spot to indulge in a good cup of coffee! There are food options here and even some appropriate drinks for kiddos. Mine loves the hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream of course (she doesn't have any issues with things being too sweet! ha!). The staff has always seemed friendly, and properly caffeine-buzzed! The coffee is well done and always good, but there are many negatives. I do enjoy their coffee and food. It's always well done. The problems are with the store itself. The bathrooms are chronically disgusting. This seems to be a common trait of all Caribou Coffees in my roaming area. The only thing I can think of is that they're trying to limit the time that you'll spend taking up room at their tables by making the bathroom a place to avoid. The toilet is chronically unable to be flushed and the floor has not been mopped ... seemingly EVER. The WiFi is provided by WanderingWiFi and is equally uninviting. It is often unreliable at this location and always slow. I don't see how WanderingWiFi stays in business with all of the complaints that people have to be making about it. Caribou should just ditch this outfit and buy their own equipment. There is outside seating, but I've never used it, because of the cigarette smoke and ash that you have to deal with out there. Parking is often hit-or-miss where sometimes you have to park across Maynard road and risk your life jay-walking or walking a bit down to the corner and back. I still go there fairly regularly; however, this is out of necessity rather than love. read more

It's got everything I look for in a coffeeshop: Lots of tables, clean, good lighting, and free wifi. Their coffee doesn't blow my socks off, but it's a chain and it's way better than Starbuck's nasty "Pike" coffee (WHY STARBUCKS??? WE HAD SUCH A GOOD THING GOING!!). Their hours are pretty good, even open to 10pm on Sundays. I think it's meant to cater to the NC State crowd. read more

What kind of manager makes their employees work on Christmas? While I'm glad that they were open on Christmas, when I asked what the deal was, the people pretty much had full shifts, or close to full shifts. That's kind of scroogy. I'm still giving this place four stars because they have a fire place that they have going, with comfy couches by it. There's also a lot of tables and chairs, and depending on when you visit, they have groups coming in for card games. I also like that their hot chocolate comes in different chocolates (I also choose dark, you know what they say...once you go black....), although watch out because they do prepare it VERY hot. I asked them to have a cooler version and it was a perfectly drinkable 145* so I have no clue what temp the mouth scorcher was. Just sip very carefully when you get yours. read more

I'm partial to Caribou because of my experiences in Charlotte - I've been to this location twice so far since moving here and both occasions have been good. There's ample seating and the same friendly service from the baristas I'm used to back home. (One thing Caribou does well is hire people with personality.) Both of the drinks I've had so far (turtle mocha and campfire mocha) have been good. WiFi can be spotty though. Otherwise, great location and glad to see one of these in Cary. read more

Standard issue chain coffee shop. They make a decent espresso drink, but nothing outstanding. Even if you are staying in the shop, all drinks are served in to-go cups, which bothers me. The sitting area is nice and complemented by a small gas fireplace. Also, the wifi is free and speedy. Caribou over Starbucks any day ! I like the ambience and the decor - reminds me of being in a cabin. It has a private sitting area with a whiteboard for folks who don't want to use the tissue to scribble down thoughts. Friendly staff makes the experience better. In short, Caribou Coffee has an excellent atmosphere. I love hanging out here and studying in my free time, and the wifi is a definite plus. The staff are excellent and always very personable and kind to their customers, it always lifts my mood when I hear the "Have a nice day!" after receiving my order. The coffee itself gets an 8/10, but the smoothies are perfect. My favorite is the white peach berry, which actually came as a suggestion from the barista when I wanted to tear away from my ultimate love, strawberry banana. The food is excellent, certainly an interesting variety of things to choose from. And if coffee isn't your thing, they've got a great selection of juices as well. The location is perfect, right in the middle of Cary, which is an excellent plus because it's so close to home. Unfortunately, the divider in the road makes for difficult access, which can be discouraging. Also, the lot is slightly too small to hold enough cars for my comfort, but that barely takes away from the inside experience. Overall, excellent place to go if you're looking for a morning perk, or just to hang out and relax for a while. read more

I like Caribou. I generally favor any coffeehouse that isn't McStarbucks. It is always packed and smells fantastic upon entering. I discovered the coffee before I discovered the store, interestingly. I received a gift basket of a myriad of different brands of organic coffees to try and out of all of them, Caribou's offering was the standout. Needless to say when I moved to the east coast and realized there is a Caribou on every corner I was delighted. They have smoothies and cold stuff too, and the La Minita Peaberry should have some other designation than just coffee, it is amazing. read more

I come here when I need a change of scenary from working from home since they have free wi-fi. Coffee is usually great, but today my coffee was luke-warm. And even though I told the girl the coffee was for "here", she still put it in a to-go cup. What a waste of a paper cup. I came here on a Sunday evening, the lady at the counter was friendly and the cafe latte was great: not too sweet, not burned, just perfect. I loved the atmosphere, it's one of a few restaurants which have a proper ceiling without all the plumbing in view. They also have drive through if you're in a hurry. Horrible experience in the drive through today. Store was not busy as it was around 10:45. No idea why it took them 20+ minutes to serve a few cars in the line but there was no acknowledgement of the ridiculous wait time or apology. The drive through attendant did, however, comment on how my baby was crying.... because he had to sit in a stationary car for over 20 minutes and there is no way to leave the line. read more

Usually I'm in this location studying for about six hours and if that isn't enough to tell you about how I feel in this place then, I don't know. Ambience is perfect for studying. Not too quiet and not too noisy. I prefer some noise when I study because I don't like hearing myself think all of the time. There are designated places to where you can charge your laptops and those designated places are by the wall. lol. Everyone is right about the coffee, it's nothing special. I'm sure if they had awesome drinks then that place would be ruckus so I'm not complaining. LOVE THE SPACE. There is usually two of us and it is nice to have our own space next to each other. The atmosphere is nice and cozy, even with the space. My drink of choice is the Chai Latte and I have not been disappointed. I do wish they would call out your drink or name as opposed to just letting it sit. It was my first time there and I wasn't sure what the protocol was so my drink sat for quite some time. I ordered plain hot tea this afternoon, I was the only person in the drive thru and it took 10 minutes start to finish. After I paid for my tea the barista told me it was going to be a bit because and I quote, "we have to manually boil the water for your tea"...seriously it's a coffee shop brewers have hot water spouts on them and maybe don't wait for the person to pay to start boiling the water? If your shop is having issues like no hot water for tea, tell a person when they are ordering. read more

Great service. I got a Carmel high rise which was very good and my husband tried the mint mocha drink which he really enjoyed. The drinks didn't take long to make. I regret that it took me so long to make this post, but I drove by the location this morning..... and decided that I should somehow make the owner of the location aware of it. I am 55 years old and have never before written a negitive post on any food service provider. I was a very regular customer of the 106 Maynard Rd. location for over 10 years until the morning of Feb. 28, 2019. It was on the way to my to work and my childrens school for the past 12 years. At the drive-thru on my way to work, there was some confusion on my order (large coffe black w/sausage/egg/biscuit) and the attendant verified it incorrectly, I repeated it, and the attendant again verified incorrectly. I repeated the order again and then got the "thank you" confirmation. I was not frustrated, it was my favorite and most convienient coffee stop for years. I figured intercom system flakiness and proceed to the pickup window. When I got to the window, the attendant, who I was familiar with seemed frustrated and asked me to repeat my order. I repeated the order clearly and without angst. Everything was still fine at that point. Then, after the attendent entered the order into register and stepped away to handle it, I noticed the attendant whispering in the ear of another employee. Several minutes later, the other employee (also familiar... probably a manager), returned my credit card, handed me my order, and with a severe look informed me that "in the future we do not allow smoking in the drive-thru line". This? after a 10 to 15 minute experience. I replied "I could start going somewhere else if it's that onerous for you". Then the attendant/manager gave me yet another snarky, Cheshire Cat smile and a "bye-bye" wave. Probably could have gotten past it wihtout that smile and wave..... Yes, I smoke and have done so for decades, and certainly in the Caribou drive-thru over the past 10 years and any other drive-thru for that matter.... I put cigerettes out before getting to the window as a courtesy, but surely it will smell a little a little...... But I have never been waved "bye-bye" to like that in my life. Almost never disappointed with this place.. Working from home leaves me wanting to venture out almost daily for coffee. The mochas here are made with real chocolate, not the bottle syrup or powder stuff. My favorites are the 'berry white mocha' and the 'campfire mocha'. Love love love caribou. The cabin-like feel makes for a home-y experience! The chalkboard, trivia questions and the open library are the best. The only downside is the extremely limited parking, there are only about 8 parking spots. My favorite thing is the hot chocolate and decaf vanilla latte. read more
