We started with the guac because of course. It was well made and balanced. Those chips had the right amount of salt and were wildly crisp. Kids asked for a whole other order! For drinks, we went with an old fashioned that was a palate pleaser, but the adult capri sum was too fun! It reminded me of a nice rum lunch, but had a strobing ice cube that instantly brought a smile to my face. The kids' lemonades also had a similar ice cube and tasted like fresh squeezed lemonade, which was fantastic. Ended with some rosé that never disappoints. For entrees, kids went with the usual chicken tendies and a burger. Both tasted fine and the chicken tenders were quite crispy and had the right flavor. We also had the Mexican surf and turf burrito. The burrito leaked a bit, but surprisingly didn't ruin the tortilla or anything else on the plate. The meat had the right flavor and spice, while the salad had an acidic, but refreshing dressing. That Mexican shrimp and scallop cocktail though! My goodness was that heaven served in a chip. I am overly picky when it comes to Mexican shrimp cocktail and this exceeded any and all expectations. Filled to the brim with protein and the flavor was fresh, acidic, and delightful. Great place to slip in for some guac and drinks or a full meal of your heart desires. On weekdays, there's happy hour specials for food and drinks until 7pm at the bar which works perfectly if you have a show at 7. I've come here for dinner before the last two shows I've watched and will keep coming! I've sat at the bar both times to enjoy the happy hour menu. There were different bartenders both times but everyone was super nice and attentive even when they were super busy making drink orders. Another fun thing here is that there's a robot that rolls out delivering food. A waiter will actually follow it and put food on tables but the food comes out on a cute robot. Also, seems safer since the waiters won't need to hold onto hot plates and they don't risk dropping any. Inside is actually a very chill restaurant where people are just enjoying the food and company. The first time I got food items off the happy hour menu - shrimp tostada and the elote. The shrimp tostada tasted amazing and they did not skimp on the shrimp. The elote was the best I've ever had; it was nice and creamy and didn't taste like you were eating separate pieces of cheese that didn't belong like normal elote. I got the hibiscus margarita and my friend got the pineapple smash. Both drinks taste amazing but I liked the hibiscus margarita a smidge more. The pineapple smash came with a fun curly straw. The second time, I got the surf and turf that came with a side salad. The salad and the burrito had a little too much dressing/sauce but still tasted really good. Such a cute place with good food and decent drinks. Found this place on Yelp as I needed somewhere to eat before seeing a Broadway Show after looking at the menu I decided to give it a try. I loved the decor - it was well lit and cute - I think they have an upstairs area as well but it wasn't open. Please keep in mind the prices I saw online were lower than the menu that was given to me and my girlfriend at the restaurant. We started with drinks and I have to say I found a place that ACTUALLY puts liquor in their drinks lol. While they were a bit pricing if you don't order off their drink menu (mostly sweet drinks which I don't like) but it is what it is. I ordered the surf and turf which was a wrap with steak, shrimp, chipotle mayo, avocado, pico de Gallo and fries. It comes with a side salad. I have to admit it was very good! My girlfriend ordered the Tingo de pollo tacos and Might wings. I tried one of the wings and it was very good - the tacos were good as well. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because no one checked on us to see if we needed anything even though the restaurant wasn't overly crowded. It takes a truly horrible experience for me want to leave a poor review- but our party's dining situation here went from bad to worse. We had a dinner reservation for 7, drinks took forever which our server warned us about, we said that's okay we understand we are a big party no big deal. We all order at the same time, 40 minuted pass 3/7 meals come out. 3 cold burgers, cold fries that you can tell have just sat there. FINALLY our drinks come, they were meh. The menu is not cheap so I couldn't believe it was acceptable to bring half of people's orders out--- COLD mind u. One person in our party does not eat pork for religious reasons, they emphasized no pork and even said it's an allergy to ensure it wouldn't come on the burger. 20 minutes pass and the rest of the food comes, one item being a burger with bacon. We had already waited so long for the food, she asked them to just cancel it instead of remaking it. Our server did not even come to apologize or check on us once, didn't offer to replace it or AT LEAST apologize for the inconvience. We got out of there as fast as we could- looking around I saw much of the same at other tables with ppl missing drinks, one person having their food and the other waiting. It was a mess. We waited 45 mins to get our food, not once was it communicated to us that there was a possible delay or even an acknowledgement. The two workers tonight were Eric the bartender and Leasia the waitress. We asked about our food after waiting over 30 mins when we noticed all the tables that came after us received their food already before us. We didn't even order anything big or apps, just 2 tacos and a chicken sandwich. Overall, Carla is kid friendly and good for groups. We easily made a reservation for 7 people at 6pm on a Saturday night the week before. We sat downstairs but there was an upstairs for large groups that sounded full. Food: None of the food was overly amazing but it did the job and everyone seemed to enjoy it. I ordered the shrimp tacos and vegan roasted pesto cauliflower which I shared with my sister. I wasn't too hungry so it hit the spot and left room for churros. The pesto in the cauliflower was a bit too salty on some bites but otherwise good. I thought the shrimp tacos would have been better if the shrimp was grilled or had some char to them but there was a generous amount of shrimp at least. I visited with my two nephews and they were unfortunately out of chicken tenders so they had the cheeseburger and grilled cheese. My nephew loved the cheeseburger and ate all of it. The kid meals came with fries which also tasted a bit salty to me. For dessert, we ordered the churros which come two churros and ice cream per order. They were out of vanilla ice cream so they were served with chocolate ice cream. The churros were 9/10 and came out hot, fresh and appropriately covered in cinnamon sugar. Highly recommend! Staff: The staff was all very nice! The food seemed to take a little while but no complaints. They have a robot which wasn't serving while we were there but they let my nephews play with it once we finished eating which was nice. Ambiance: There was a fun, lively vibe with pretty decor that my company enjoyed. The place was pretty empty with we arrived, then filled up and got loud, then seemed to clear out again before we left. Another place we considered for brunch did not take reservations which is a problem. 5 of us coming from 4 different states one of which is South Carolina so a reservation is a must. Cafe opened promptly at noon and our table was ready. While waiting for couple of our friends to arrive I had their coffee which smelled and tasted amazing. My friend asked for milk and it came heated in a small cup. She loved it. We all had the salad with 'no this or that' and some added proteins and the order came out perfectly. Presentation was great and tasted great too. And we can't forget the apple cider mimosas with cinnamon sugar on the rim. YUM! And I have to mention the decor. It was so cute with flowers on the walls and one of them framed a light which opened and closed. All in all a great choice for our brunch and a great place for us girls to catch up before the show. It was delicious with a bit more seasoning. The po boy was my favorite. The shrimp was crispy, the size of the sandwich was great, and the fries were pretty good.
