My all time favorite Mexican restaurant in Red Bluff! My husband, my daughter and I come here at least once or twice a month. The waitresses and waiters are so friendly they go above and beyond to make you feel like you are at home! My 15 month old daughter absolutely loves Christina! Christina comes out of her way to say hello when she sees us! I just love the atmosphere here! To make things better the food is incredible! My go to is the fajitas! I can eat them weekly! I used to frequent Carlitos when they had the old owners a few years back. I've been to this one a couple times and it was ok food, place could be cleaner. Last night we went to Carlitos and I ordered the chile verde and my family had their meals as well.the food tasted great actually and I was a lot happier then the past few times i had ate there. Unfortunately I have the symptoms of food poisoning (dehydration,lethargic, diarrhea,vomiting,intense abdominal cramps) which leads me to believe the kitchen is not following food cleanliness standards.my day has been wasted, you guys need to teach your kitchen proper food preparation and cleanliness. read more

Spent a couple of nights in Red Bluff and decided to give this place a go. It did not disappoint. Always order a Chile Relleno and this one was one of the best, and they had the best refried beans. Service was excellent and you needed two hands to pick up the margarita glass. When I pass thru again, I'll definitely stop in again. read more

This is an outstanding family Mexican restaurant for a small town. Margarita on the rocks was huge, strong, and cheap. Service was outstanding. Chips, salsa, and pico de gallo was delicious. We had a great experience here. The food and the service were excellent. We would have been sat almost immediately but we wanted to wait for a booth in the front section. It looks like maybe somebody drove their car through the front of the place recently so they are down a few boiths. My kids loved the food, the chips and salsa were awesome (full of onions and peppers) and I loved the 'camarones con arroz' (shrimp and scallops with rice). We were passing through Red Bluff and followed the Yelp recommendations to Carlito's but alas, this time my expectations fell short. The service was slow and the food bland. I had the Borrego lamb shank and Kathi had the veggie burrito. The lamb was small and cooked with a fresh but dull sauce. Carlitos is by far the best Mexican restaurant that I have been to in the Northstate. The service is good and friendly. The waitstaff is consistently attentive and courteous. I've been there several times and the food is great, fresh and well prepared. I got the worst food poisoning of my life and was dying for 48 hours from eating the shredded beef at Carlitos in Redbluff! I've never had this issue with any Mexican restaurants in the area! The food was really bad here! I've eaten at the one in Corning and had a completely opposite experience it was so good so not sure what the issue is with the Red bluff location! I called to let them know of the major food poisoning and they told me to go to the hospital! Hope they will handle their food cleanliness and prep a little more serious! The ground beef taco was prob the worst I've had. The meat wasn't like regular ground beef. It reminded me of meat they serve in middle school. The shell was stale as if it was old. The chili verde chimichanga was very good. Would be better if they served guac and sour cream with it. Beans and rice were normal. We came here for dinner while visiting family. The staff was friendly and the food good. There are several televisions placed around the restaurant so was happy we could watch the football playoff game. The table salsa was only average but the guacamole was excellent. I am absolutely devastated. My family and I came here tonight for my aunt and uncles wedding anniversary. We were seated in the very back because we had a larger party. A male server got our drinks started and for the first half hour, everything was dandy. We came here at 6, and didn't get our COLD FOOD until 7:30. We had 3 different servers come by and check on us but didn't offer to refill our drinks, or replenish our chips and salsa. We had to ASK for it. I'm not sure if it was an off night or what but I have never waited that long, especially for bland cold food. We sent our food back and after 20 mins we got our food once again. The plate was hot but our food was still cold. We gave up since we were so hungry and just bit our tongues. Two more parties arrived around 7 ish and were not being helped at all as well. Generally I don't write a negative review, however this is multiple chances I've given this place and always had a negative outcome at the end of each visit. Today I took my girlfriend to lunch, I ordered the pork carnitas lunch, and she ordered a chicken torta. Our drinks and chips and salsa came to the table very quickly, and refills were also speedy- however we never got our green salsa that we had requested. Our food comes and we begin to make our plates the way we like them, and she takes her first bite and tells me it tastes funny. So she inspects her sandwich and the bread is completely moldy! Noticeably moldy, how could the server and the cook not see the huge green mold spots!! It takes a few minutes to flag the server down and get something else, but she questioned my girlfriend like she didn't know what she was talking about. Her new food came quickly, and was super hot and delicious, however we barely got as much as an apology and no sort of hey we've covered your drinks or half your dish. But, the service sucks. If you don't mind waiting for your food, your drinks running empty for about 15 or more minutes and no refills on your chips and salsa while your waiting and waiting for your food then venture here. Fast and friendly service, especially for as busy as they were, however, I ordered a Jalisco plate which is breaded chicken breast covered in cheese and sauce, and was given the wrong plate. The plate I got contained a tough and chewy piece of meat, some thin little burrito, an overcooked chimichanga that had a slice of Kraft American cheese slice melted on top, and an enchilada. I had a gift card for $35 that they refused to honor because they said they canceled that gift card company and got new card readers. I had the card for 1 1/2 years, but the Federal Trade Commission website states that gift cards are good for 5 years and it is the responsibility of the merchant to issue a new card if they change gift card companies at no charge to consumer. The hostess and the manager both said there was nothing they could do. I should have left without paying but I didn't. We bought 4 meals to go and 3 were just OK and 1 was good.
