Been going here for years, best pizza in GC. Toppings are a little pricey but other than that always fresh and loaded.

New Yorkers are picky about pizza, but for us out-of-towners, any pizza here is probably better than pizza we get at "home". Forest Ave is no different. It operates a lot like most places where you can go in, select from their myriad of slice options, and they heat it up in the oven where it gets a nice, crispy bottom. I'm assuming you can order pizza pies to go as well, but for lunch and "by the slice" options, this place was pretty good. Staff was friendly and the pizza was good. The slices look bigger on the plate than they do behind the counter, so you might regret getting 2 slices! read more

I stop here anytime I'm in the area. The caesar salad with grilled chicken and grilled shrimp never disappoints. They also give a complimentary piece of bread which is always warm and soft. read more

Pizza selection & assortment was good, had the ziti slice. It was very good, not too much sauce or cheese. The ziti was plenty and heated up well. The inly issue was one person put it in oven to re-heat and then he got busy & never took my slice out until someone else looked in oven & saw it. So it was too hot to eat & I had to watch the time. Other than that as this was my first time there, I saw a lot of people coming in and out, so will definitely be back. I was in the neighborhood with my significant other and we came across this pizzeria. It looked super fancy in the outside so we came in hoping for some yummy pizza and that's what we got. I had a square slice and my boyfriend had the eggplant parm slice and the chicken and broccoli slice. We enjoyed our slices very much. The mozzarella sticks were terrible, worse than those that are microwaveable but the pepperoni bite size rolls were really good, I like how crunchy it was and not so oily. read more

I've been eating this pizza for 25 plus years and I am sad to say that after the last 4 times, I'm officially done. I ordered a regular cheese pie on a Friday night. I got there and it was ready on time. I was charged $20.85 (cash) for cold cardboard, full of cheap cheese that was dripping with grease. The sauce was too sweet and it hurt my teeth to chew. It's gotten worse each time, yet I went back for the familiar faces, hoping it was an off night. Sadly, it was not. Just another place cutting corners and raising prices. Good pizza, terrible politics. Stopped in with my partner on the way home from Downtown Sounds, ordered some slices, and everything was good until one of the workers from behind the counter switched the TV channel from the Olympics opening ceremonies to FOX NEWS, where they were broadcasting Mango Mussolini at his Turning Point USA rally. This is arguably my favorite pizzeria in the glen cove area. in addition to great pizza, they also have a better interior environment, making it more suitable for a relaxed 'dinner feel' than other fast-food style pizzerias. like most king island pizza, the crust is thin snd a but on the floppy side (which I'm totally fine with). read more

I live in Glen Cove and tried every pizza place in town. This place has the best pizza in the neighborhood. There is no other Pizzaria that comes close. Once upon a time when you walked into a pizzeria & heard the chefs speak Italian you were sure that the sauce was made from fresh tomatoes and garlic. The pizza was good if not Great! It's Not the same scene anymore. The next generation is all about the bottom line. Everything is purchased in bulk. The dough is mostly Frozen. The sauce comes from a can. When in Glenn Cove visit elsewhere. Forest Pizza is a nice enough restaurant laid-out with what seemed like there was no plan. Beverage refrigerators opportunistically placed and no thought was given it seems to what the customer would experience. Too bad because otherwise the space is nicely renovated with warm earth tones. Upon my entering from the parking lot, there was no indication of whether is was your run-of-the-mill self-service pizza joints (it was) or if there was table-side service (there wasn't). The two folks behind the counter seemed to me as though they were the owners. They seemed uninterested and aloof and were successful despite themselves. I must have been sitting at the table at least ten minutes before I got up to ask whether or not there was any wait staff (I made eye contact with the folks behind the coutner several times) but not before I was first asked to give them a minute. Next to where we sat ourselves was an unbussed table. We placed our order and waited patiently all the while staring a the unbussed table wondering when it would be cleaned. Alas our order of a large pie with half sausage and a side order of sauteed broccoli rabe was ready for us to pickup from the counter. While ambiance and hospitality are important when I provide my opinion on restaurants I'm mostly concerned with the food (despite that I barely mentioned the food yet). So here I go: the pizza was horrible in my humble opinion. The ingredients were low-grade, the crust was way too thick and bready and while sometimes I like thick pizza the crust didn't taste good. Moreover, the out-of-the-can sauce and ordinary sausage didn't help the experience. Both were just low-cost and low grade. The sauteed rabe was half-cooked, clearly not blanched, tasted too bittler and seemed that it was quickly thrown together last minute rather than properly cooked. The only redeeming quality was that they didn't charge us much lending to the old adage tha you get what you pay for. The last time I had similar pizza it was at some gritty NYC neighborhood--the type that movies are made of (think "Fort Apache: The Bronx"). So if they ever decide to do a screenplay about Forest City Pizza I propose they call it "Low quality, lack of service and low price: a recipe for disaster". read more

Eh, not as good as Delicious (okay, I have no idea what their new name is, if they even have one, but the boys at Delicious are like family to me) BUT these were the only guys that were open right after Sandy hit - and they literally worked themselves to exhaustion, feeding everyone as quickly as they could, until they ran out of the food. oh, the pizza was okay too. I had great experience here. Sicilian slice was perfect- just how I like my pizza and the plain slices were just the right amount of doughy and not too saucy. Tortellini soup was a big serving size- it took me and my boyfriend to work on finishing it. Unfriendly place. I seldom order a pizza pie here and sometimes the quality is meh but the customer service is always quite bad. The other week, we ordered $45 worth of food and one of the pies had a piece of a STEEL BRISTLE BRUSH on one the pizza slices which my mom had just ingested. I called the pizzeria and was received with minimal empathy - "Oh, that's good she didn't choke or have any problems" ... they decided to compensate with -2 slices any topping next time you come in- and were not budging on anything including a refund. A week later, I show up and another gentleman at the counter actually had the nerve to ask for physical proof of the steel bristle. He gave me the pizza begrudgingly but it must have been from overnight because it was dry and the crust was rough. Pretty bad over all, giving customers an air that they really don't need their business. read more

This is probably my favorite pizzeria in Glen Cove so far. They have a very nice selection of stuff. Their coupons are great. For $20 you can get a plain pie, wings, and garlic knots. You have to dip the wings in the buffalo sauce, as they come plain but I don't mind. I also really like their Sicilian and Grandma slices. read more

My issue with Forest Pizza is that the meatballs are grey inside. I have ordered them several times but they do not add enough beef to them.

This place was my childhood staple and continues to serve excellent pizza. (Beating out most of the NYC places I've tried since moving.) The owners operate the establishment and are always friendly, attentive, and considerate. I had not visited in a long time but they remembered my family and were genuinely concerned about them and their wellbeing. They gave my mom free garlic knots. Wonderful family centered business.
