Overall, the restaurant was in a state of neglect. First, the housekeeping was poor. I arrived at 5 P.M. (at the start of the dinner rush) and the place was already a pigsty. Most of the tables, seats, and floor were still covered in crumbs and morsels from earlier in the day. On top of that, there were multiple flies in the eating area. Second, the cashier was rather careless. She had an overtly ingenuine cordial tone and seemed eager to be rid of customers. We used to love this place, we stopped here twice a year on our way to Fullerton and in our way back. The quality of the food has been going down the drain. Customer service is fine. I didn't have a problem with this place. It's right by the side of the highway, perfectly situated for those going back and forth between LA and SF. The service was fast. Worst. Carl's Jr. Ever. I'm an absolute fan of carl's jr, and have been loving their chili cheese fries since their original introduction back in the early 2000s. Despite individual franchise differences, I've continued to tolerate any petty imperfections and love the food all the same. Except for this one. I came in here asking for chili cheese fries and a famous star. First, i got my chili cheese fries, WHERE THE CHEESE WAS JUST IN COLD FLAKES AND NOT EVEN MELTED. Okay. Pretty shady. I'm sure the franchise has specified guidelines to how they should cook their food, but hell maybe these people are busy. So i let it slide and asked for it to be done properly. 15 minutes later (by this point my friends have already finished with their meals, and im still waiting on mine)... Still waiting. No responses, no one was calling me up to get my food (no lines at all at this point, I see a handful people chilling in the back talking and even saw an employee try to make moves on a customer while restocking the fountains). I go up to the register asking if my fries are ready. Apparently they had it sitting on a warmer and completely forgot about it. Good job Coalinga's Carl's Jr, you've done it yet again. By this point I'm rather irked, but whatever, it's fast food, there's high demand for employees, I work at a little caesars so I know how the grind goes. I go ahead and excuse their delay. When I opened the box for the fries was when I was really infuriated. All they did was put the fries through a microwave to melt the cheese. Furthermore, it was melted HORRIBLY. The grease is completely separated from the layer of dairy and all I saw was phlegm-looking structured "cheese" and pure grease saturating everything. The parking lot was packed so I did drive through instead of going inside. The menu signs were brightly lit, the clerk spoke polite understandable English, and there was no static so I call the experience a win. I ordered sweet potato fries, which is something I love. The car in front of me added to their order at the window, and line still moved quickly so they must be pretty efficient. When I rolled the car window down I could smell cow pies - welcome to Coalinga. The fries were hot and tasty but lacked a certain crispness which kept me from giving it four stars. THIS Carl's Jr deserves -5 stars. My family is traveling to San Diego, it's 8:45 am...we pull in to grab some food and take a bathroom break. The women's bathroom was atrocious!!!! ATROCIOUS! There were only 3 or 4 stalls here. There was already garbage all over the floor and one toilet was STUFFED with seat covers and used toilet paper(the person who left that mess sucks too) the stall receptacles were also full. BUT...this level of nastiness at 8:45 am??? Disgusted, I came out to let one of the employees know. They were too busy "visiting" with one of the workers' boyfriend about crashing her car. By far the nastiest Carl's Jr Ive ever been in. To top it off... I didn't get a receipt nor did my who son who went through the drive thru.... First (and only) time at Carl's Jr. Super bummed because I thought for years that it had the same menu as Hardee's (same logo), which I grew up on. But after coming here, looking at the menu, and checking Wiki, I realized that Carl's bought out Hardee's in the 90s and just kept the name but replaced the menu with Carl's (just run of the mill fast food burgers a lot like Burger King). Sad. Apparently, there are a few Hardee's out there that still have those Beef and Cheddars I remember as a kid. This location in particular isn't as dirty as some of these reviews make it out to be. This place enrages me. We just stopped by for a quick snack. First of all, there were 5 staff workers "hanging out" behind the counter, and none of them take notice of us standing, waiting to order. We finally manage to get their attention and order the hand-breaded chicken and onion rings. We take a seat to wait, and realize we are amidst absolute filth. Greasy tables, debris, sticky floor. This should have been a sign. We got our stuff to go, but noticed that the onion rings were cold and stale. I asked for a new one, but the replacement wad no better. In fact, the hand-breaded chicken was the sorriest excuse for food I'd ever seen. We opened the box to find lukewarm, wet, greasy and limp clumps of what was labelled "chicken". Eeew! We were looking for a quick bite to eat on our way home from NoCal. We decided to go to Carl's instead of Denny's because it would be quicker and more convenient. We were wrong. As there are only a handful of food places in this little area, it was PACKED. The line was insanely long and carloads of people kept stuffing into the little restaurant. I stopped by this Carl's Jr. with my parents after dropping my sister off at school in SoCal. It was during Thanksgiving weekend so needless to say, the traffic was horrendous on HWY 5. We decided to stop to grab some dinner and ended up at Carl's Jr. because there was just wayyy too many people at the McDonald's across the street. I don't usually visit Carl's Jr. when I eat fast food, but I decided it would be nice to check it out again. I got the regular burger, which was ok...but the lettuce chunks were way too big and there wasn't much flavor to the burger. My mom got the fish sandwich which she said was comparable to McDonald's, and then my dad got the chicken tenders. The chicken tenders were way too salty and dry. Also, we asked for ranch and honey mustard and when they gave us the honey mustard, it was in this small plastic container and looked very suspicious...it was basically this thick goo?? Not sure what that was, but that really turned me off to eating it and made me wonder what was in the rest of the food? Overall, it did the job of filling me up but the food was just mediocre and lacked any unique flavor. I don't think I'd be back here...I'll just wait for the longer line across the street. read more

They had remodeled this location. The restaurant was very clean even though it was packed inside. The service was terrific. The girl who helped us out at the counter was very patient and kind to us. I had the Memphis Bbq burger, and it was pretty good. The girls had the Chicken club sandwich, and they both liked their choices as well. The sweet potato fries were also fine. Needed some grub on our way up to SF and decided Carl's was a good idea. Unfortunately when we got out of our car it smelled like cow manure!! Not sure why but that was pretty gross... Even so, once we were inside everything was fine. I had a 9 piece chicken stars with BBQ sauce and my BF had a chicken sandwich. We shared some criss cut fries as well. How can a public rest area restrooms off the I-5 in Button Willow be much cleaner than the restrooms in this Carl's Jr? Made a pit stop here while on my way to San Francisco. The first thing I noticed was the ridiculously long line to order food and I found out why: there were only two people manning the food order/two cash registers. Yes there were only two cash registers here. Be prepared to wait in line longer than usual. I had the grilled chicken salad which was surprisingly good. The grilled slices of chicken were actually warm and the size of the salad made a good sized meal. Cleanliness was an issue here. Not only was the women's restroom a mess (I assume I can speak for the men's restrooms too) but the table tops where people eat off of were filthy too. Leftover food pieces and greasy were all over the table tops, which I had to rub hard with napkins to clean it before sitting down. Uncle Carl will not be pleased... read more
