I forgot why we didn't go through the drive through but I went in the lobby to order. It seemed like the team was already doing closing procedures despite it not being close to closing. The kid working the register was busy stocking the cookies and didn't pay us any attention. I asked if I was able to order and he told us to order on the system ourselves. He turned around the POS and had me take my own order! I thought Carls Jr had those self orders kiosks but it was actually their POS. Really confusing and kinda funny looking back. When I finally started drinking it about 30 minutes later, I quickly realized why it went so fast -- the cup was approximately three-quarters full of ice and contained very little actual beverage. About an hour after purchase, I returned to the restaurant with the cup, which was still half full of ice, and asked to speak with the manager. The same employee who served me identified herself as the manager. I politely explained that I was disappointed with how little drink I received for nearly $4.00 and asked for either a replacement or a refund. She told me that employees "only push buttons" and are not responsible for the amount of ice, and that because I didn't complain immediately at the drive-through window, she would not refund or replace the drink. I found this response very disappointing and unprofessional. As a frequent customer, I expected basic customer service and a willingness to resolve a clear issue. Whether this is store policy or corporate policy, charging nearly $4.30 ($3.99 + tax) for a cup that is mostly ice is unacceptable. With my senior/military discount, it was $3.87 -- still far too much for what amounted to a few sips of coffee. I usually come here once a year. I love hamburgers and French fries and this is the closest fast food to me. I got the Famous Star combo and asked for easy mayo, and no other condiments. Paid, asked for ranch, they don't have any. Ugh, bummer, I love eating my criss cut fries with ranch, it's my occasional guilty pleasure. Got home, opened up the burger and oh em gee, the two buns were smothered in mayo, so much so, that my buns were soggy. Gross. I wiped off the excess Mayo and ate my hamburger open faced. My criss cut fries that are not as good as I remember or maybe it's because Chick Fil A upped the bar and makes them better. Now I know why I always go to In-in-out. It's better quality, more delicious, cheaper, and overall better experience. I'd rather wait in line or make my own hamburger in my Ninja Foodie than ever go here again. Maybe people think the food is like other Carls Jr (or "Hardee's") but this the only place where you can get a Famous Star or that delicious chicken thing with cheese and bacon and ranch and then come back the week after and the week after that and pretty much every week all quarter and refill your cup with sweet sweet Diet Soda (Diet Dr Pepper for me) without ever being asked to make another purchase. Maybe start closing the registers 15 minutes before you 10pm and not an hour and a half. Reached out to corporate and this was their response. 7:33AM August 19th, 2013...There's a long line wrapped around the building...shit, am I too late?...78,79, 80, 81, 82! I'm number 82! YES! For the Grand Reopening, Carl's tore down the old building and built a brand new one, which is about .22 miles from my condo. The first 100 customers at 9:00am got free food a year...and I was number 82! I didn't get to actually order until about 9:45AM, but I figured 2 hours of my life for $364 worth of free food was worth it($7 meal X 52 weeks = $364). Unfortunately, the booklet with 52 food tickets wasn't quite what I had imagined. Each ticket is good for 1 specfic food item per week. Week 1: Western Bacon Cheeseburger, Week 2: Teriyaki Burger, Week 3: Famous Superstar...etc etc. Nice strategy there Carl! Trying get all 100 of us cheapasses to buy an order fries and drink since we're getting a free burger. I ain't falling for it! Oh wait...I probably will...doh! So my $364 is probably more like $182... This Carl's Jr. was a little slow for fast food, but at least the food was decent. I also ate the buttermilk ranch chicken tender sandwich for $2.99, which was full of calories and just ok. I wouldn't order it again. It's made with more than 1 chicken tender, so the breading on the chicken makes this a less healthy choice. We didn't have any fries. I notice they also have sweet potato fries, but I haven't tried them. This Carl's Jr. is on governor drive and has been remodeled, and is combined with Green Burrito. No complaints really, typical Carl's Jr. Ordered my usual Western Bacon meal with extra BBQ sauce. It was a little bit hard to understand what the drive-through guy was saying over the speaker, but I order fast and precise with no "Ummmmmm"'s or "what kind of sauce comes on the...."'s, etc., so when I pulled up to order and immediately said "Western Bacon combo medium with coke and extra BBQ sauce and that's it"....was pleasantly surprised when he got it right on the screen without me having to repeat myself multiple times.
