Hmmm... CARL'S JUNIOR?! I hadn't thought about this place for YEARS. When my ex and I moved here from Los Angeles, we tried both known locations - Stony Point and Farmers Lane, and they were both lousy, especially Farmers Lane! We once got a completely FLAT burger from them, and I mean pancake flat! We finally gave up and quit going several years ago now... But, I digress. I'm a vegetarian nowadays, and it doesn't really seem like there's really too much worth eating out there anymore. I became a vegetarian for ethical reasons, and I'm not real big on salads. Just not my thing. What I like most is food that can approximate meat without being actual meat. So I got very excited several months back when I tried the Impossible Burger (see my review for Papa Mak's). It was so good, and so close to the real thing. About a month or so after my Papa Mak's experience, my sister called me to tell me that CARL'S JUNIOR had an actual veggie burger!!! I didn't want to try it where I'd been disappointed already, so I headed to the north side of town. My husband works in the area, and he eats at the one here on Industrial. I didn't even get out of my car, I drove right over and hit the drive thru. I rolled right up to the voice box and said, kind of doubtfully, "I heard that you guys have a veggie burger now?" "Yes, we do. It's called the Beyond Burger." "Is it like one of those burgers with a bunch of vegetables chunked into it, or does it have a texture like a real burger?" "It's closer to a real burger." "Okay, hook me up!" I then asked what forms it came in, and here is where it gets really good. You can replace ANY Carl's Junior burger with a Beyond Burger for an extra $2!!! So I gave him my complicated order, and I was totally "When-Harry-Met-Sally" complicated BEFORE I became a vegetarian! They had my order ready in like 2 minutes flat, and it was delish! I have come here several times since then for his orders and mine, and the food is always hot, fresh, and good, and the service is FAST. I had a migraine today, so I decided to come in and eat and my order was ready by the time I got to my table with the number! Amazing! I don't know why this place is only rated with a couple of stars. I've been inside and through the Drive Thru. I've only had good experiences, and they have regularly exceeded my expectations, which is not easy to do. So maybe try it for yourself. I don't know what happened to this place. We used to love to come here ( on Cleveland Avenue, technically Industrial Drive). The hamburgers are just not the same. Stopped in here for lunch the other day. Restaurant was clean, well lit and adequately staffed. Cashier was friendly and professional and the owner/manager on duty went out of his way to help customers with a cheerful attitude. Food was what I expect from Carl's Jr - fresh ingredients and good flavors. I appreciated the soda fountain choices and the fact that this Carl's Jr includes a Green Burrito so you can get Mexican food if you want too. I'd stop here again. read more

This has got to be the worst Carl's jr. I've ever been too. I mean first of all its bad enough that Carl shrank the 6.00 burger to a 3.00 burger but still had the audacity to up the price of this burger. My fries were cold and I can tell the difference between deep fried chicken tenders and microwaved chicken tenders. Mine were microwaved. I went to the location on Industrial Dr. and was not at all thrilled with the experience. I had ordered a Carl's Jr Charbroiled Chicken Salad and a small fry. The salad was a joke. It had 3 large pieces of lettuce piled on top of each other with a slab of room temperature chicken on top. Some gross looking tomatoes and onion. The small French fry container was only filled about half way and I was the only car in the drive thru and it took 10 minutes to give me the order. GO TO THE HABIT, IN-N-OUT OR FIVE GUYS!!!! I GOT SUPER SICK FROM HERE!!! Ordered a western bacon cheeseburger, and a bbq chicken sandwich. Started feeling a bit sick within a few hours, then spent the next two days sick AS F@CK. Nausea, horrible frequent diarrhea, and fever. All I had eaten that day was this food from this location. Called the customer service number (national #) and spoke with a nice rep, who said he would run it up the chain. Not long after, I spoke with a man named Greg, (who apparently owns 8 restaurants). He was combative and skeptical. He wanted a receipt for a refund... Who keeps those?! I didn't even want a refund until he said that, when I told him I didn't want a refund, he said, "well you're not getting a payout" WTF!!!! I was calling to give a heads up, not to litigate. He said he could arrange for a refund but I would have to go back and speak with the manager (his name is Jesus) about it, something I have neither time nor patience for. This is not the first time going to this location, but certainly the last. In the past, this location has been pretty mediocre, even compared with other Carls. Going here, I know to expect long wait times for food, and when it finally comes it is often barely warm, smashed or just completely wrong. I gave this location the benefit of the doubt too many times because the other Carls in the area are pretty good, so I kept hoping this one would get it together, so I don't have to drive across town to the good establishments. Realistically, I won't be visiting those locations either, after the miserable two days I've had because of this place. Save yourself the agony of frequenting this poorly operated, unsanitary business. Just popped in to this place for a quick bite while out running errands. I haven't been to a Carl's Jr in about 5 years, and now I know why... Ice tea was undrinkable. Tasted like chemicals. Maybe I just got a bad batch or something, I'm not sure, but it was bad. Burger patty didn't look very fresh, more like it was cooked then kept under a waring light or something. Yuk. Oh and the slathering of mayo... I remembered I should have had them hold the mayo as it literally, and I mean literally, glopped out of the burger, around the paper holding the burger and on the table. This was beyond disgusting. I don't think you could have a worst burger. This is my second visit here. Both times I just hated my food to the point of not finishing it and throwing away good money. Both times it was a cheese burger of some sort. Carls jr is suppose to be famous for burgers so this location must just not be good. The burger meat is always cold. Took 10+minutes to get our drinks that were sitting on the counter in plain view. I had to get the attention of an employee to pay for our drinks. Nice to see a location in Pricey, CA that honors the national deals. Well, at least for the $5 Big Carl combo. The Famous Stars are 2 for $5 instead of for $4 here, and they don't do the 2-for-3 breakfast biscuits. But otherwise the pricing is surprisingly similar to the less inflated parts of the country. There's one girl behind the counter that's going to get beat up if she talks to the wrong customer the way she does. We had lunch here yesterday. The food was really good. The restaurant is dirty. The bathroom had no soap and was dirty with ketchup way up the wall. The garbage barrel outside was more than full. I don't understand how, since they pay minimum wage anyway, why can't they add an hour to somebody's time and keep the place clean enough to want to go back. I eat at Carl's Jr. a lot, but not often at this particular establishment. This was THE LAMEST Carls' Jr burger ever. I purchased via drive-thru, and literally parked 50 feet away in the lot to eat, not wanting to go inside (this establishment is also a pretty creepy place for a young woman to be at so I decided not to go inside) so it's not like the burger had time to sit before I ate. The sandwich looked like it had been sat upon- completely flattened and smashed- the lettuce was wilted to the point of being slimy, and the burger itself was remarkably smaller than the buns. The fries were also undercooked and bland (not even salted!). DEFINITELY not up to the usual Carls' Jr. Standards. Enough so that I was sorely tempted to go and ask for my six bucks back, except that the service was so lack luster that at the time of purchase, I had been impressed that I'd been given the correct change (the person working the window was busy talking on his cellphone as he worked and didn't so much as say hello.) Never get my order right even tried going inside and waiting a half hour for my hamburger and asked politely if they could make sure i had everything on my burger and still nope. No one working there seems to want to be there. The "greeting" was "Are you ready?" Not a smile, how are you , can I help you etc. The service was slow(it wasn't busy,I was one of two dining room patrons and there didn't seem to be much drive through action) and a total lack of courtesy.
