AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This place used to be great when I moved to Vegas in 2014. The latest work I had done was horrible. I went to them in November with transmission issues and told them to check the motor and transmission mounts along with a full transmission rebuild (2007 Cayman S 6-speed manual). A bit over $5K later, I took it home. And the rear axle immediately leaked fluid on my pristine garage floor. Back to Carl's, another $1.3K later the leak was fixed. Five months/2K miles later while driving in Los Angeles, my car would only go in first gear. The bushing on one of my shift cables was worn and had been held in place by bailing wire. Yes, bailing wire. So Carl's Place chose to use bailing wire rather than have me replace my transmission shift cables. The good news is that the mechanic in LA (King Harbor Auto Repair, which I also reviewed after this incident) told me that my motor mounts need to be replaced - the same motor mounts which Carl's Place assured me were in good shape. I was present when the repair shop in LA put my car on the lift and I saw the wires that held my shift cable in place for 5 months. Photos are attached.

Worst shop I've ever experienced took my baby in for routine service after checking them out and assuming since they only do Porsche this was a good shop boy was I wrong not only did they do the typical shady shop "finding other stuff wrong they messed my damn car up not admitting when they call themselves changing my CV boots they messed up the axles and lastly they dropped my car off the the damn loft and totaled my car worst part is the owner never called me I had to find out from their insurance company a full week later then lied and said the insurance company told them not to call me, yet they failed to realize the insurance company documented that they asked them several times have they called me yet. SEE YOU IN COURT!

This shop is serious! Tony & Gray

So what did I do? I paid it and had it done (as a responsible car-owner). My fiance came in for an oil change-- and you'd never guess-- HIS car also needed a new plug gasket for $900. He declined. Neither of these experiences were enough for me to post this review-- but last week the AC went out in my car. I found a reliable auto company to give me an estimate to repair. Turns out I needed a new compressor-- the other company's estimate was $1499. I brought my car here for the second opinion. I called before coming and they told me they would give me an estimate free of charge-- mind you it also says on the front door they offer free AC Inspections and free estimates. They raised my car and spent about 10-15 minutes checking it out and then dropped the hammer. The compressor was shot (same diagnosis as the 1st company) which was what I was expecting. The cost to repair?? $4200!! I told them that was way too much and they explained this was the OEM price and they needed to use OEM to give the best repair. When they saw me ready to walk, they offered the repair with non OEM parts and that would be $2000. Still being 25% more than the other quote I opted to not have the service done there. They worked up my paper estimate and told me my balance was $89.99. Like wtf? I told them I was told the diagnostic would be free-- and it's literally advertised on their front door as free. Needless to say, they waived the fee, and I had my compressor completed by the other guys for $1499. Lesson learned.

Our go to mechanic for everything from usual oil change, to complicated old issues where most mechanic will guess their work. At Tyler Express, they know what they are doing. And if they have to figure it out, I fully trust them in not trying to rip me off; they will explain what they feel they can control. We've been going since 2024; they moved location to 3915 W Twain Ave. I kept forgetting to create this review. - In the past, an oil change, oil filter would be like 15-20min for $30ish cash/zelle. - This visit we brought our own oil, oil filter, filters (cabin/engine), fuel system cleaner; and pay for labor. All of this + whole car quick check is 45min-1hr from $70. We already have our own oil due to needed to refill the Prius every so often. Otherwise, I don't think its an issue to just use their supplies? Waiting room is clean with comfortable new couches, coffee Keurig cup machine, etc. It has ac. You'll have to walk through the left door office, and it's in the back area of it. With this new location, you're like 6min walk away from many great places -- - Plaza with Golden Tiki (bars and food), - 99 Ranch Market and plaza, - Rio Casino Hotel, and - Take It Easy Roasters to morning/afternoon wifi/study/work on laptop from 8am-4pm (9min/0.4 miles stroll away) - Pop Café to afternoon/evening wifi/study/work on laptop from 2pm-10pm M-Sat (13min/0.6 miles stroll away). Google Maps makes this place pretty difficult to find. DIRECTIONS: 1. Google to Green Valley Grocery, then 2. drive to the right of it where Modern Designs & More LLC/Floor Showroom is. 3. Tyler Auto is connected to, and located as the right side attached building opening. Payment, they need a full name attached for the bill. QR code scan and pay via zelle. ------------------ Old LOCATION Draft review I forgot to post: Kenny is SUPER DUPER knowledgeable about old Prius!! And cars in general!! My Prius tour 2008 has gone through so many random issues over the years. Reddit to youtube can offer a lot of different solutions too for these scenarios. You'll learn a lot of tips and more about your car.... Opening trunk hatchback from the inside of the car, make the dashboard screen appear when needed again, etc.. Towing: - We called Tyler Auto and they were willing to take us in. They took in our car from being towed for simple stupid mistake by us (no gas, we have a dashboard blank out issue/typical issue for old Prius in hot climate places). - Towed our car in. Apparently a lot of cars get towed here. Alot of the Vietnamese restaurant owners bring their car there which is a good sign to us. - Tow person's tip: Police tow will cost around $500 where cops also get a cut from it. Don't take a Police tow unless you have to. Cash or Zelle is best. They have QR code to pay.

So, I checked them out on Yelp, and sure enough, they had a 5 star rating! I immediately called and Bobby, who turned out to be the owner, answered the call. He said bring the car in and he would diagnose it free of charge. So, to make a long story even longer, Bobby and his crew of expert mechanics, jumped through rings of fire to get my A/C working again and even discovered that my fuse box had an internal short that was causing the compressor to kick in and out, and since that part wasn't available on time before we had to head back to Los Angeles, he showed me how to bang the box to get the compressor to start up again! All this effort was done at a very fair price. I would trust Bobby and his crew with any automobile issue. Absolutely first class!
