Well, the only word I can use to describe CARLUCCI'S WATERFRONT is , " Spectacular ". Ambience, food, cocktails, service .. & .. our view of the Rancocas Creek was beautiful. It was my wife's & my first visit .. & .. believe me, " We were not disappointed at all ". The bartender was very, very nice .. & .. he was a true wizard mixologist. Our waiter was very attentive & outgoing; he couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. My branzino was " the Best I've ever had " .. & .. I've had branzino everywhere .. when it's on the menu. My wife's brazed short ribs were outstanding. I was lucky to get even a small taste. One of the things I liked was their suggested " wine pairings with the chef's menu ". I have been to this restaurant about three times now and every time it's a wonderful experience. The wine selection has yet to fail me and neither has the food. The service is always beyond wonderful. They are very attentive and are quick to accommodate your needs. I was able to create my own plate for my grandmother, who is quite a picky eater. I always do the outside seating. The waterfront view is lovely. Due to COVID and cold weather, they added a huge tent with heaters. It was toasty in there and felt just as comfortable as any other regular day dining out. Servers were wearing masks at all times and you also didn't feel super on top of of others, which is great. Always a good meal here. Came here on a Sunday night for dinner and was seating right away (with reservations) and greeted by a waiter shorty after. We got claims casino to start with and they were amazing. ACTUAL clams which is rare for the "casino" type and so juicy and tasty. My dad got the veal with crabmeat dish and got pasta instead of the veggies which was a great choice. Very flavorful! I got the seafood stuffed pasta in a blush sauce-- to die for. So much flavor and great portions for both! Homemade tiramisu had more of a mouse type "filling" and was nice and light to end the night. Love this place! read more

We came here for Valentine's Day dinner on the 13th, and we had a reservation. We checked in and they sat us down right away. I wasn't too impressed with the restaurant itself. It was just a ballroom with tables and I feel like for the cost of the meal I was expecting something better. I had the crabcake and I was not impressed. The mashed potatoes and peas were also just drenched in garlic. They were almost not edible. Definitely not worth trying again. However, I had a chance to try one of their pasta specials in a blush vodka sauce, and that meal was excellent. If it were just based on the one meal and our server I would've given Carlucci's a five star, but the atmosphere and my meal itself brought down my rating. read more

I have been coming to your restaurant for 25 years. This last time end of March was the worst . We both ordered French onion soup 9 dollars each and it was awful. I have had it a bars for 5 dollars so much better. we ordered the sirloin which was good but just a couple small boiled potatoes with it. really you have to do so much more in todays world to charge prices like that. This might not be the most fair review as I am judging Carlucci's on a limited holiday menu and on New Year's Eve. I really don't get NYE and the crowds. I never have but my father in law is 93 and in great shape (I wish I had his genes) and I wanted to do something nice for him. I have to start with the good, and it is very good. The staff at Carlucci's was friendly, attentive, accommodating and polite the entire evening. I mean everyone from the valet, to the hosts, the servers and the bus people, etc. They knew what a mad house NYE was going to be and they were prepared. The place was mobbed and they told us up front that our table was running 15 minutes late past our reservation and this was accurate. A lot of the charm of Carlucci's is that it is located on the waterfront of the Rancocas Creek. Unfortunately for us, it was pouring rain and December 31st and this part of the space was not open or usable. The inside, as others have mentioned, is in need of updating. I understand that this would be a difficult task as it is an older building and closing this extremely busy restaurant for any length of time would result in a huge loss of sales. When we were seated in the main dining room, they had a singer with a guitar playing some nice background music. The room was fairly loud and hard to hear him with so many people celebrating, but I thought it was a nice touch. Carlucci's was using their holiday menu and it was limited. There were however a decent amount of choices including a seven fishes option. I would assume their regular menu is more varied. Our dinner started with the Manhattan Clam Chowder and this was pretty good and not overly salty. I ordered the Chicken Francaise with Shrimp and I would say this dish was mediocre. It was not bad by any means but certainly not memorable either. It was just bland. My father in law had the Maryland Crab cakes and they came with a good amount of crab. My wife didn't care for what she ordered, it wasn't what she expected, and did not eat much of it. Carlucci's noticed this and graciously took this off of our check which was very nice of them. Again, great customer service. On this night, I would have to go with the 3.5 stars Carlucci's receives on average on Yelp for their food. Carlucci's does get 5 stars for their staff and customer service. I would come back but only when the weather is nicer and the outdoor dining area is open. read more

Beautiful restaurant, delicious food, and excellent service. My husband and I had a date night here at Carluccis and it did not disappoint. It was too hot to sit outside, but they accommodated us by letting us sit inside where it was much cooler and we still had a nice view of the outside. We each ordered a martini (one dirty, one espresso), and crab bruschetta for an appetizer. Drinks and appetizer were very good. We got a bottle of wine for dinner ordered the crab cake, which was OK. A little bland, but full of crab meat. Not much to the dish, just a giant crab cake and spinach. We also ordered the seafood Canneloni which was absolutely delicious. Decided to stop by here for an early dinner after reading some great reviews on Yelp. We opted for outdoor dining which had some great ambiance with heaters and string lights. Our waiter didn't introduce himself or list any specials instead just asked us if we were ready to order. I didn't think much of it until I saw a different waiter approach a table by saying his name and offering some course selections. I really enjoyed the rosemary garlic bread and wish I could take a whole loaf home haha. The blue point oysters tasted fresh and the mini tobasco was cute. We decided to get the Boston harbor seafood platter to share as an entree. Both the tarter sauce and marinara complimented the dish well. The scallops were tender and juicy. The shrimp I could barely taste since it was mostly breading. The oyster melted in your mouth but we only received one which was odd. I think we were supposed to receive two because the scallops and shrimp both came in a pair. The crab cake was my favorite. It was flaky and seasoned well. The flounder was a different story. I'm pretty sure the chef forgot to season it before frying it because it was very bland. The mashed potatoes were delicious, butter garlic but a bit cold. The vegetables seemed overcooked and mushy. Overall we were a bit disappointed with the quality of the food due to the price and upscale feel the restaurants gives off. Possibly may be because they don't specialize in seafood. Will most likely return just to try a pasta dish to give the benefit of the doubt. read more

If you are looking for a spectacular view and awesome staff this it. If you are looking for food to wow you this place isnt it. The view over looking the river under canopy lights is beautiful and romantic. Now let's move on to the food. My husband and I ordered apps, entrees and dessert, like always. Of the 3 apps we ordered nothing stood out and all was underwhelming. We ordered Clams Casino, Baby Octopus and Scallops Angelica. The scallops took us by surprise. We expexted a whole scallop but it was just a piece of one wrapped in bacon. Next course was soup and salad. If you are a garlic fan the Pasta Fagioli is the way to go. I never had it like that but I liked it. For our entrees hubs had the Seafood Cannelloni and I had the Shrimp Amalfi. I can see why the Cannelloni is a top seller. It was good. My Shrimp Amalfi was okay but tasted better when I added the sauce from the Cannelloni to it. Desserts were good but then again I haven't eaten anything from Bindi I didnt like. All in all South Jersey is full of Italian restaurants and this one didnt stand out enough for me to want to come back. read more

Recently visited this establishment during a date night. Upon arrival we were greeted by the hostess whom we alerted of our reservation. We were taken to our table and told our waiter would be right with us. Just a few minutes later our waiter arrived to our table, prepared to take our order for beverages. We gave our orders and said waiter went about his way. Just minutes into the night, as my date and I looked over the menu, she made mention of an uncomfortable look she was receiving from a member of the wait staff and pointed him out to me. Not too long after, I also noticed the same member of the staff taking long glances at our table while "working." There was a moment he "disappeared" behind the restaurant shrubbery to talk with another man on the staff, drawing now his attention to our direction too, visibly smirking and giggling. Needless to say, a very uncomfortable and unwelcoming experience. Not too long after, a new waitress returned with our beverages then left us for the night. Shortly after, our first waiter returned and proceeded to take our order for entrees. We ordered and again he went about his way. Shortly after, the very man who continued staring at us, dropped some bread off at our table. When I say dropped, I mean dropped. Without acknowledging us, he plopped the basket down on the table and walked off. At this point the quality of service began to decline immediately. Our entrees arrived, being delivered by a different waiter on staff. He didn't introduce himself, but was very pleasant when delivering our food. We thanked him and began to eat. The food was good. We finished up and prepared to pay and leave. Our first waiter returned to the table, asking if we needed to go boxes and if we were ready for the check, to which we agreed on both. He came back with both items and said he'd be back again to collect the check. Cash was placed in the check to cover the total, there was change of $20.00. After handing the waiter the menu, we watched as he entered the money in the register and returned to his other tables. We sat at our table for an additional 10 minutes, until the waiter stopped and asked if we needed something else. My date mentioned to him that he never came back after taking our money, to which he replied in a condescending manner, "oh, you needed change?" My date, now visibly upset, directed that he keep the change, and just wanted to leave at this point. We grabbed our boxes and headed to the front. Passing by the same hostess, I requested an available manager to speak about the issues we had during our dinner. The manager/owner Carlo came out not too longer after and we told him about the events of the night. From our early discomfort from the member of the bus staff, to our waiter and his unpleasant handling of our payment. In return, we were gaslit during the entire conversation. Kind of how he's doing in all the negative reviews here. He asked if I "assumed" we were being stared at by his staff member. It's quite clear when someone is visibly staring and talking about you. In his case, he barely tried to hide it and tried to get others to join in even. Carlo let us know he'd "talk" to him about the issue. He'd also "talk" to our waiter who assumed he deserved a $20 tip, when all he did was ask what drinks we'd like for the night. We were given a gift card though after the whole ordeal. Its been a few years since we have been there. I am happy to say the coveted area was very nice and even though we didn't sit there because of stairs to get in, our view was good and seating was nice. The view of the water was very relaxing. We started off with Italian wedding soup . It was very good and had a nice flavor. Since we were a party of three each of us chose a different dish. One was recommended by the waiter, it was sunset mango tilapia. I am so glad I asked because it was delicious. The tilapia was perfectly cooked. All the fruit was fresh and everything I wanted. The other two selections were lasagna and raviolis. Each were very pleased and happy with their selection. We were given a bread selection and the one I chose was very tasty. Sorry but I can't eat dessert but maybe next time. I will be back again. read more

Only reason this got 2 stars instead of 1 was because of the waterfront views. If you can't eat outside, I don't recommend going at all. The inside is so drab and smells super musty and definitely needs an update. Servers were nice enough, but it seemed they didn't care about us because we didn't order drinks. For the price of their dishes, I was expecting some top notch meals but was just left with poorly executed meals that I could have messed up on my own at home. First up, Scallops Angelica, which sounded great because they said they were wrapped in bacon; however, any idea of how you THINK that dish would look like, you're wrong. It was like they smashed scallops and shoved them in bacon rolls and then slapped them on a plate with mushrooms and some weird sauce. It was honestly an insult that they charge $21 for the dish. Everything on the menu is super expensive and my "go-to" items when I'm trying to watch my budget were even way over priced. A simple salad was $21....plus $9 if you want to add shrimp. So $30 for a salad. Wow! Okay, scratch that idea, I instead thought maybe I will get simple chicken parm to keep the bill down. Nope! That's $28. I can't, as an honest Italian, pay $28 for chicken parm. Are you kidding me?! Is it drizzled with edible gold or something? I settled on the chicken Marsala (again, $28). The flavor was good but the portion size was WAY too small and it came with vegetables. Yes, veggies and not pasta. Weird. Oh, and the veggies were gross: they were either frozen, or rotten. Boyfriend got the vodka rigatoni with chicken which ended up being $30 and said it was nothing to write home about. I just don't understand where these prices come from. And did I mention the stale bread? I cannot make this stuff up. Maybe I've been watching too many Gordon Ramsey shows but this place misses the beat on so many things. I saw the poor reviews and have had this place on my radar for YEARS and finally decided to give it a try; I should have listened! They don't seem at all concerned with changing or updating their ways. In spite of the mixed reviews we read online we decided to give carlucci's a try on Friday night. The outdoor seating and the view was the selling point for us based on the photos we saw on the site. Upon arrival, we noticed the parking lot which is large, was PACKED. luckily, we were able to find a spot up front as i am 8 months pregnant. Let's cut to the chase: front desk was engaging with guests and managing every reservation that checking in. They were polite, courteous and provided updates on wait times and impacts. With a packed house, the entire team was operating in orchestra. Once we were seated, we were greeted immediately, did not wait for bar drinks, appetizer soups delivered soon after order, followed by our entrees. This level of timely service is not what you expect from a packed restaurant on a Friday night. Food was good. No complaints with our order. I had the jumbo shrimp and crab entree and my husband had Chicken Parm. The best part of my entire experience was witnessing this staff go above and beyond in 2 instances: one gentleman who appeared to be a manager, gave this couple a wine glass with the Carlucci brand on it as they were leaving out to commemorate their visit. Must have been a special occasion for them. Second, a disabled gentleman was leaving and a staffer ran after him in the parking lot to give him a hat he left behind. This level of attention to their customers during a dinner rush was unmatched. As we were leaving, every staffer we walked by said goodbye to us. This place has heart. read more

I've been to Carlucci's twice now, and wish I had know about it sooner. Sitting back from any main roads, and on a beautiful waterfront, this place is perfect or a nice night out. The first time I came here was for my sister-in-law's rehearsal dinner, and the second for a night out with my fiancé. As a guest of an event (the rehearsal dinner) I was impressed with the venue and food. We were seated in a private room and given a buffet with appetizers and later able to pick a entree of our choice. The staff was attentive throughout the event. When I came with fiancé we decided to dine outside and enjoy the waterfront views. We were nervous it would be buggy out there, but they didn't bother us. The menu selection has a variety of Italian dishes, all of which I would have enjoyed trying. But my favorite thing was the appetizer. The Crab Bruschetta- it is one of the best dishes I've had anywhere. The crab meat is generously topped on delicious bread with a creamy sauce covering everything and served to perfection.
