The grounds are beautiful and the views are breathtaking and the staff is very friendly! The best part of the entire hotel experience however was interacting with Salvador, the corral Ranch hand. You can hike up to the corral from the hotel or take a shuttle up and when you get to the top of the hill, there are goats, sheep, Highland cows, miniature donkeys, and alpacas. We had just missed the feeding of the animals, but Salvador walked us through each of their pens and let us pet and interact with them and told us a little bit about each one of them and how he cares for them. The hotel stay was great minus some hiccups with the restaurant and our room, but I would come back just to see the animals and learn more from Salvador. He's incredible! read more

I wish I could give this a 5-star review, but I must be honest. My wife's birthday was on June 15th, and after months of traveling between our home in Northern California and LA, I wanted to do something special to celebrate her. She's been working incredibly hard, often putting in 18-20 hour days, even while traveling. She mentioned she'd never been to Carmel and wanted to visit, so I researched extensively and decided to book two nights at Carmel Valley Ranch, with her birthday falling on Saturday. The trip cost $4,028, which included our stay, massages for two, breakfast and brunch twice, room service once, lunch once, and an archery session. While the bed was very comfortable and we had a nice view of the ranch, the rooms were quite outdated. The ranch staff were helpful, friendly, and professional. The food at their restaurant was good but nothing special, so we chose to dine off-site for dinner. The massages, costing $547, were disappointing due to the lack of spa facilities like saunas, jacuzzis, and cold plunges. The men's sauna was not working, and my wife was unimpressed with the one in the women's locker room. The shuttle service and drivers were courteous and efficient, with a special shoutout to Johnny, who has been with the ranch for 19 years. He gave us a fantastic off-road tour on my wife's birthday, which she loved. However, one of my wife's best friends and business partners had planned several surprises with the concierge, and only one was delivered, which was disappointing, especially since we were charged for all of them & so was she. The gym was nice, but the staff at the golf clubhouse and shop were rude and unhelpful, only focusing on immediate purchasers. I wanted to set up a golf experience for my wife, but we received no assistance. Given the price we paid, we expected the same level of service and experience as we've had at other luxury resorts like the Ritz-Carlton, Stanley Ranch in Napa, Four Seasons, Edgewood Tahoe, and The Wynn. Despite my efforts to make the best of it, including a fun private archery session on our last day, the overall stay & experience at Carmel Valley Ranch did not meet our expectations. For $4,028, we anticipated a higher level of service and amenities. I recommend updating the rooms, improving the lunch and dinner menus, enhancing the spa facilities with better amenities, and providing better customer service at the golf club. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Carmel Valley Ranch Resort and will not be returning unless significant improvements are made. This trip was not worth the cost. read more

Carmel Valley Ranch is part of the Hyatt Unbound Collection. This property has exceeded all our expectations for a family getaway with our two young toddlers! The warmth and hospitality of the staff continued all throughout our entire stay. The resort's 500 acre grounds, nestled in the serene Carmel Valley, provided the perfect backdrop for our family adventures. Full disclosure, I had originally booked the Hyatt Highland Inn but was moved to Carmel Valley Ranch at the request of Hyatt Global because the original hotel was under renovation during the time we planned to visit. So I did very little research prior to showing up to Carmel Valley Ranch. At the check-in lobby at the Lodge, I instantly noticed that this is a very kid-friendly resort. The staff took out a treasure chest of rubber duckies for our 2 kids to choose from. They loved it! The Lodge is also where they serve s'more kits in the evening and sample goat cheese (directly from the farm) and crackers during the random days. We enjoyed the s'more kits every night at our kids' request, and it truly felt like we were glamping in style. Our spacious 800ft Ranch Suite with King bed was beautifully designed, offering both comfort and luxury, and provided ample space for our family to relax and unwind. More than just having a big space, we really value any sort of suite where we can have a closed door between a sleeping/napping toddler. The amenities were top-notch. The bedding was plush. The bathroom was spacious, though the vent when on was a bit too buzzy for my liking. We enjoyed just hanging out in the room for a good part of the day. Both of our kids were able to fit in the bathtub - not to mention the hotel was very attentive and offered us an infant bath kit. My kids were mesmerized by the fireplace with its easy-to-set timer, which served more as a decoration anyways since the heater is more than sufficient. The resort's family-friendly atmosphere made us feel right at home. Our kids were too young for some of the hikes offered on the brochures - even then we saw deer prancing on the property. Our kids had a blast exploring the on-site petting zoos, although they seemed a bit shy compared to the more outgoing llamas. Overall, we really enjoyed removing our kids from the hustle and bustle of city life and letting them soak in all the nature. As a globalist, I was fortunate to have complimentary breakfast and we were very, very happy with the offerings. This is no Hyatt Place continental breakfast. Everything from the fruit platter to pancakes could easily rival many of the local 5-star diners. One negative, which is clearly stated on the website, is that the family pool and splash pad over at the River Ranch are still under construction. We visited during a chilly winter month, so we wouldn't have been able to take advantage of it anyways, but you may want to take note of when you're visiting to see if construction is complete. While we did check out the Kids' Club down by the River Ranch, it felt a tad too young for our 4-year-old. Perhaps it was because the children there were still in their diapers, so we opted not to send our kids. Nonetheless, it's reassuring to know that there's an option to take a break from the little ones (there is an hourly charge). While we went down to the River Ranch via the shuttle service from the Lodge, we checked out one of the many available stroller models. It was really cool that they even offer this service. Though I don't know if we would do it again just because how hilly the property is to use a stroller anyways. Despite the current condition of River Ranch, our overall experience at Carmel Valley Ranch was nothing short of magical. The resort's dedication to providing a special family experience, combined with its serene natural setting and glamping-style accommodations, made it the perfect destination for our family getaway. The room was spacious, plenty of indoor and outdoor space. Received a welcome card and bottle of bubbly. The king bed was firm but soft. Bathroom heated floors were a surprise and lavender bath products were soothing. The outdoor tub was blissful. it was the most serene bath experience outside of a spa i've encountered. It's hard to leave only 1 star for a property this beautiful, but the only reason I'm writing this is as a "public service announcement" to visitors (and staff?). I will never visit the Carmel Valley Ranch Lodge or Ranch Kitchen portion of this property again for health reasons, nothing else as I am very EMF-sensitive. There are not 1 but 2 extremely powerful cell phone towers on the ROOF of the restaurant, which I discovered after running out of there and looking back at the building from the parking lot. Granted I am pretty sensitive to these things, however my dining partner is not, typically. About 5 minutes into sitting down at the restaurant for a late drink and snack I was feeling negative effects (I had no idea the antennas were there at this point); and now the morning after, my ears are still ringing really badly. My dining partner got a headache and also ears ringing, and we were both foggy headed. It took a while for me to figure out there must be antennas overhead. Re. service, our waiter could not describe a simple cocktail ingredient question, left us for 10 minutes after taking our drink order and never brought the drinks to our table then came back empty handed after 10 minutes, making no mention of the drinks and asking "Are you ordering?". (Figured maybe his brain was getting fried and he was not able to concentrate? Had to cut him some slack... and we were only kind and polite.) Poor level of service for a restaurant of this caliber (price) point. It was only 50% full at 9pm. Anyways, this is not pleasant to leave a 1-star review but I am doing it only to warn other people who are sensitive to or justifiably concerned about exposure to high-powered cell towers, radiation, EMFs etc. If you are not, please don't make fun of this review as it's a very real concern for many people and extremely disabling, and you can consider yourself lucky if you feel no physical effects from EMFs, yourself. I can't believe children dine and are exposed to this level of radiation at this property, and I feel awful for the kitchen staff and wait staff who are getting "cooked" during their shifts. Honestly this should be illegal to position towers right above establishments where people spend time. OK, my PSA is complete! Other than that, this place blew my mind how elegant it is. The grounds are gorgeous, I loved everything about it visually. Maybe it's more of a concern in the restaurant (but from what I understand, being in line-of-sight of these towers is cause for concern). So it's a shame we can't ever go back to enjoy it as locals. This is a special place. I'm not even sure where to begin. First, if you are a traveling on a budget, this place is not for you. If you have some scratch to spend though, look no further. Carmel Valley Ranch is inland about 15 minutes and is tucked into some beautiful hills. They resort has a golf course, multiple pools, a small farm, hiking trails and plenty more. The main lodge has a nice restaurant with good views of the valley, a pool, a hot tub and a spa. In the evening they have free make your own s'mores packages so you can sit by one of the fires and enjoy a tasty treat. The rooms are equally nice. I usually get one of their rooms that has a living room as well as a bedroom. There is a gas fireplace in each as well as a deck off the bedroom. The rooms are nestled in to the hillside and surrounded by trees. Plenty of ambient peaceful noises to help you sleep at night. Most rooms are a short walk from the main lodge, but you can also call for a ride in a golf cart or shuttle if you are going far in the property. They have lots of other activities every day as well. From falconry lessons to yoga classed with goats (I haven't tried so don't ask me for details). While they do have plenty of things to do, it's just a short drive to downtown Carmel, or 30 minutes down highway 1 to Big Sur for some majestic camping, hiking or other activities. I could probably spend a week or two there without getting board. It's incredibly relaxing. read more

Save your money. Booked 3 nights at Carmel Valley Ranch for my honeymoon and was super disappointed. Check-in was late and kept getting postponed, despite the Hyatt App telling me repeatedly it's time to check in. Food was only okay, we ordered room service and the next day had to leave really early for an event. We put the do not disturb light on and to our surprise someone had entered our room and picked up the tray while we were out. I went to the front desk to talk to the staff about this and they said they would notify the head housekeeper but didn't follow up or really seem to care. I've never left a negative review for a Hyatt (I travel a lot for personal and business) but shared my experience on the post-stay survey. The front office manager reached out and said they would like to connect to learn more about my experience, I followed up immediately but they never responded to my emails and didn't answer the phone when I tried to call them. Super bummed about my experience, bad customer service. read more

I was intrigued by the outdoor bathtubs with a view so my husband and I came up for a few nights a while back. Although we wound up never touching the bathtub, we did enjoy our time here mostly due to the view of the vineyards below us and the quiet you experience sitting out late at night with a glass of wine made better only by the soft crackling of the fireplace behind you. There were a lot of activities available around the grounds for those interested (like learning about beekeeping!!) but we decided to stay in and relax. We booked a Vineyard Suite with Outdoor Bathtub, and the suite was more than enough space for anything the two of us could need. However, it doesn't look as spacious as it is because the living room and bedroom are separated by a narrow hallway. There were few downsides, one of which was trying to order food at dinner time. Since restaurant choices are limited without leaving the valley, they were quite busy and it often took multiple phone calls to be able to place an order. Great part of it was they delivered directly to your room on little golf carts! Our particular room had some gremlins and certain electronic switches and the telephone either just... didn't work or worked sporadically. There is a gift shop by the pool that sells a small variety of lavender products made with the lavender they grow on site. The lovely lady at the front desk also offered us a small bunch of fresh lavender that made our car smell delicious all the way home :) I don't know if I would return given the $1k+ per night. While it was an amazing experience, much different than anywhere else I've stayed, I don't feel like we personally are able to take full advantage of everything offered here. read more

Upon arrival my boyfriend and I were asked at the gate if we were there for janitorial/cleaning... my boyfriend and I stared at each other and laughed ... we are Hispanics but we were actually guests & informed the front gate man & he simply said oh ok go straight & make a right after the bridge .. like no apologies. We had to laugh it off my boyfriend and I - we were in my BMW & our bags were visible Lol Once we arrive to the check in parking lot we were ignored as two staff joked and laughed out loud.. I said excuse me it's our first time where is check in then they hurried and came to our car and asked us to head towards the path & we would be further instructed. Since we booked with our platinum Amex we had some benefits options and room upgrades but we declined the room upgrade as we really wanted to stay in the outdoor tub room. Once we arrived to our room I wish we would have opted for the upgrade as the room was smelly, old, and not at all like the wonderful pictures of a swing & tub in the balcony. Instead it looked like a dorm room @ UCR or kids summer retreat cabin. We also informed prior to arriving we were celebrating our anniversary & at plenty of luxury resorts I've stayed in they always have sweet welcome notes & a glass or chocolate .. something. Nothing here lol On our way to our room with our bags we were asked by another guest if we worked there!? We weren't under dressed and our clothes looked like other guests so it was annoying bc it seemed that only bc we are Hispanic we were asked that ... we were asked 4 times in our stay if we were staff ?? Even with the parking pass stating otherwise . The service at the restaurant was awful they would disappear and get the orders wrong. So much we did have items comped. We dined 2 mornings & 1 dinner & each time the food was very bland and quite expensive for what it was. The cheese in my sad inlet was frozen and other pieces warm. We also signed up for the bee experience & the instructor seemed miserable & was rude to a girl that seemed to be in the spectrum & constantly making bee jokes. The dad of the girl looked sad by the end of the tour & it made us all uncomfortable how he ignored or answered in a very dry manner. We also noticed when we were at the poolside ordering the older man in a suit only seemed to ask certain people if everything was fine and walked right past us... It's sad to say as I've never experienced this type of racist treatment. If you're a person of color please skip this place. Go to Big Sur or Yountville & stay at a real luxurious resort. The property grounds were the only gorgeous and pleasant aspect of our stay. She also received lots of pets and treats when we were on our "off duty" walks. This was the first time staying at this resort. We stayed here for three nights in a room with an outdoor tub, a hammock, fireplace, and a lovely outdoor patio with a nice view. We loved watching the sun set from our room. The room was decorated very nicely and I enjoyed the amenities such as the nice selection of teas. We also enjoyed the dining area and the food. We had breakfast and lunch at the resort. My husband also enjoyed playing golf at the resort. There are many activities that you can enjoy - hiking trails, marshmallow roasting, as well as other activities some free and some with an additional fee. Everyone was so kind and helpful, lots of organized activities that made everyone happy, hiking for my teenager, swimming and farm animals for my little kids and candle making for my Mom. Archery was a hit with my 8 year old and totally worth it! Although I thought the classes were a little overpriced for what they turned out to be, while our instructor was great it was basically pouring wax into a jar and adding oils, where I was under the impression that it was going to be candle dipping, more like learning a skill instead of a craft. Food was good, room service was not great but always convenient, the food by the pool happened to be our favorite. My only other suggestion, is It would be nice if they had life jackets or puddle jumper available for check out since most visitors don't pack that kind of thing due to its bulky shape. We ended up running to Target to get one for my 3 year old and that made everything more enjoyable without so much worry/chasing. Rooms were wonderful, well thought out with lots of space. Patios were so nice with amazing views, the perfect spot to relax. We definitely plan on returning and spending more time. We had a wonderful time and you can't beat the scenery! read more

I adore this place. Our first visit during Easter weekend for 4 days and I wish I was still there. It's really family friendly with kids everywhere during their Spring break. We enrolled in 3 adult exercise classes and the young ladies at the poolside registration check in desk are always friendly and helpful. The staff here are the nicest I've ever encountered at any Hyatt. Teresa who teaches water fitness exercises is just lovely. She's welcoming, encouraging, helpful and it's a joy to exercise with all the regular members who are local seniors in the pool. The stretching exercise classes are great and you know you're working muscles because you'll be sore the next day. There's at least 8 hiking trails and we took the Horseshoe trail up to see the animals in the Corral. We're slow walkers and like to stop and look so the round trip was an hour. The rooms are big with Nepresso pods and good tea bags. The bed was so comfortable and firm pillows unlike other Hyatts with mushy soft pillows. I liked the toiletries with citrus, lavender and violet scents that I bought their shampoo from the Spa because it smelled so good. But they sold out at the spa on many of the other items. There's slippers and bathrobes in the rooms with tub and separate shower. The living room was big and spacious to rest at night watching TV on the big screen. Another shout out to Diana, the young lady at registration. She was so nice. On the second time we saw her after registering, she walked from behind her desk to greet and talk to us. The dining room staff are very busy but the working manager was very friendly and helps out with clearing tables, cleaning the floors where there's spills. The location is about 30 mins drive from Carmel By the Sea where majority of the restaurants are Located. We found the 2x we dined for dinner then breakfast, the food was very good. It was easier than driving in the dark from Carmel by the Sea back to the ranch. Truly one if the most enjoyable Hyatts we've stayed at. read more

Beautiful weekend getaway at Carmel Valley Ranch! We came on a beautiful summer weekend, and oh my what an incredible location! 500 acres of resort is quite the experience, especially when the whether is nice and you enjoy the outdoors. CVR is what I would call the arctery'x of resorts: expensive but highly enjoyable outdoors. What guests are really paying for isn't a room, but access to a giant private playground where you can play golf, swim at one of three pools, hike on private trails, and enjoy s'mores by the fire. Not to discount our room of course-- I loved it as well! We stayed in a studio suite with an outdoor tub. As an explorist, I was offered a ranch suite upgrade but declined because I saw reviews that the outdoor tub was nicer. The reviews were right! The balcony in our suite was large, with a couch, swing, AND an outdoor tub. Service was absolutely excellent. Ryan from the bellhop team was helpful and exceeded our expectations for customer service. Even with a mishap (pool side service was slow during our stay), the staff really took care of the issue as it arose. Resort food was overpriced (which is expected), but but the buffet breakfast was excellent. For dinner, we would take a to-go meal from the many restaurants nearby and enjoy it as a picnic on the grounds. We absolutely loved our stay here and cannot wait to be back! read more

I am very disappointed with our stay at CVR. I had three rooms booked with Amex Plat. Only one of our three rooms was ready at 3:30 when we arrived. The rooms had updated furniture, but they failed to upgrade the shower plumbing (hot water scolding due to valves), the doors were not aligned so they squeaked and had a hard time opening and closing them. Another room had a non-working telephone. The wi-fi in the rooms were terrible. One of us had to work in the cafe/lobby which was inconvenient and loud. The check-in experience with Alexandra was not pleasant. She spent her time looking for rooms and not explaining anything to us. We ate dinner at the Valley Kitchen the first night. The kids ordered a steak which was more like thin beef jerky. The kids did not touch it. I suggest you eat elsewhere for meals. As for activities, the special activities require extra payment. I can't believe it would cost over $165 for adult+ $105 a kid for a 90 min bee keeping experience. We ended up not doing any activities. As for the pools, they have two adult pools. I wish they made the big lap pool in River Ranch also accessible to families since the family pool is so crowded. Lastly, they overcharged me the last day for breakfast when my rooms should have included breakfast everyday. I had to call to get the credit back. This is not 5 star service nor 5-star accommodations for what you pay for. read more

Tucked high up on a hill on a beautiful ranch estate, in between downtown Carmel and Big sur, sits luxury suits surrounded by nature trails, a golf course, ranch animals and endless views. Gated community- stop at gate and get an entrance pass to keep in car. After you have this pass you can come and go as you please. Check in: no need to unload your luggage just yet. Keep it in the car and walk into the main building to check in. You have the option of a shuttle service to help you with your bags or to give you a ride to your suite or from your suite. The suites look like mini condos or town homes and the streets are marked with a street name like a mini neighborhood (community). Room: upper level 800sq ft room with fire place (double sided) to enjoy inside and outside. Stone bathtub outside, for a relaxing end to the day. Room amenities: -Coffee -Fridge -Iron with board -Robe and slippers -Walking camping light for the trails -water filter in bathroom to fill up water bottles. -heated floors in bathroom -bathroom window opens up -blow dryer - big bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash ( lavender scented) - lavender bath bubbles Cons- barnyard style sliding door for bathroom ( little privacy) -bathroom fan did not work -room cleaning miscommunication Food: I suggest going to the dining hall to eat so it is fresh and hot. Although room service is convenient my food was on the cold side and they charge a huge service fee(20$). -overall breakfast and dinner were delicious!! ***DOG friendly- so bring your pets on vacay and eat with them during breakfast. - dog menu for room service not sure about dining hall. I did not see any dogs eating at breakfast. Outdoors: Heated pool for winter and spa. Spa treatments and massages available(indoor). Trails to walk, bee keeping class and honey tasting, Olive oil tasting, bath bomb class and more. Some of the activities have a fee $$. **Minutes to downtown, Big Sur and Monterey. Downtown and Big Sur approx 5-7 minutes and Monterey is about 20 minutes. (April 4-7 week days) Highly recommend this luxury ranch!! read more

4/23/2021-4/25/2021 Quarantine Day 403-405 My family and I stayed here for our mini-vacation. They are dog friendly, and the staff are courteous and efficient. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept. I wish I could have explored more of the ranch, but you guys know how it is when you're on vacation with your parents.... There's a huge golf course so golfing fans will definitely love it here. When I was looking at the map, I saw that there are some hiking trails as well. It's very quiet and the views are lovely. My parents and I walked down from our room to this little garden they have where they keep vegetables and flowers. There's also small pens for rabbits, chickens and goats. The room we stayed in was nice and comfortable for the five of us (mom, dad, sister, me, dog). My parents and our dog slept in the two beds of the main bedroom and my sister and I slept on the sofa bed. Our first night there, I called room service so I could get another duvet and it was dropped off in about 15 minutes. Also, that sofa bed saved my ears and I got decent sleep because my dad's snoring is horrendously loud... Overall, I would definitely come back, minus the parents haha! read more

Came here with my family for a little getaway before Christmas and Carmel Valley ranch did not disappoint!! Below is a quick memorable breakdown. - 1st off you need to download the Hyatt app, this will make the process of a checking in and out a breeze!!!! - We were greeted with a personalized card and a complimentary bottle of wine! - You can see deers walking around the ranch! - Golf carts and shuttle services are available to take you around the facility. - The pool area is gorgeous overlooking the golf course. Pool is heated! - Complimentary apple cider, hot chocolate, and s'mores in the lobby. - The hay ride takes you up to the farm where you can meet and pet the goats, horses, etc. - Love how friendly the staff are! My husband and I booked through Chase Travel for our anniversary and decided it will be the place we will visit every year for our anniversary - we loved it so much!! The property is gated which felt very secure. The grounds are gorgeous, the staff is friendly, the rooms were beautiful and clean. We felt extremely spoiled during our entire stay! We arrived with the family and were immediately taken by the beauty of this property. The amenities are wonderful and the food is great! The staff is friendly and helpful. However, the cleanliness and overall quality of the rooms is the reason why I am giving this resort 3 stars. We got a suite and a studio. The toilet cleanliness was so-so. The shower was gross as the corners have thick black gooey gunk build up. This only happens from improper cleaning over time. The carpet in the bedroom smells heavy of urine! The bed is not comfortable at all, it's worn out with a dip in the center. Between the urine smell and the bed I haven't slept since we got here. Overall, for the cost of this rooms in comparison to the quality of things mentioned above, I would not return. read more

The good: the infinity pool and the bar staffs beautiful property, great drinks. The adult pool area is so peaceful. The bad: the massages. Probably the worst massages I have ever experienced. I've had massages 10% of that price that were better. My partner also had a bad massage, plus a masseuse who felt compelled to comment on his scars. It was super uncomfortable. One of our favorite places to get away for our quick spontaneous trips that doesn't need any plans to have fun. Great room service and even provided me with a wine decanter upon request to borrow. My boyfriend and I decided to visit this beautiful place after going through some tough personal issues and wanted to get away and relax. The property is gorgeous, we were greeted by staff with a warm smile. Little did we know about the racism that takes place here by some. Not only by staff but the guests here as well. Def pro Trump here and non caucasians are def not welcome here. I couldn't care less but the small bigoted minds of those here begs to differ. Even some of the guests are stuck up and ignorant as well. They turn their noses up as if their shit don't stink. I wanted to pick up something quick for us at the market before we headed back home. The cashier overcharged me and got visibly upset at me when I questioned all the unknown charges shown on receipt. I explained that I never ordered them and immediately the look on the cashiers face changed to annoyance and disgust. She just said "k, I guess I overcharged you on this but you wanted the rest". She then proceeded to loudly make my drinks. She started getting defensive and coping an attitude as if I somehow inconvenienced her day by asking questions about the items shown on the list. Gaslighting me and it's somehow my fault?! Just imagine what if I never asked for the receipt? What if I charged it to the room? Blindly trusting her. Who would believe us if we came back later to complain and I would have no proof I never purchased the extra items on the receipt. That's straight robbery and I won't stand for it! Make sure to always get an itemized receipt. I never asked for the receipt initially because I didn't not trust her, I asked for it for my expense records and happen to notice it. She was an absolute gem to the other couple and people who she rang up next (dare I say they were not of the minority races). The audacity of her attitude and the service I received is appalling!! They promptly made their drinks before mine and greeted them with a warm smile. Did she think just because I'm Asian I wouldn't fight back or notice or question her? Did she assume that I was not from here ( as to me not being born here?!) I was born and raised here and I don't deserve this type of treatment from someone who hates her own life and reflects her negativity like that on others. Nor does anyone else who graces their presence here. We all paid to be here and enjoy the amenities that CVR has to offer. Glad to be going back to LA where there are more civilized individuals there. My god what if I was an Asian Lesbian?! That would have made her head explode. read more

Amazing rooms and properties. Absolutely terrible service at the ONLY RESTAURANT ON A 500 ACRE PROPERTY from the three times we went there. Servers dropped a 42$ glass of wine on the table. Ruined a expensive dress coat, and never got our money back from the server basically throwing our money away. The food is amazing but it took 20 minute for the waiter to bring WATERS. They forgot about our reservation for dinner and didn't put it in their system while they had over 70 seats available. The receptionist were disrespectful. They asked us to wait 15 minutes for them to put a seat together for us while they had a table of four for my family of four, we asked them if it was not reserved and they said it wasn't reserved and they didn't give us the seat. The GM gave us a hard time after confronting him about it. We spent an hour waiting for food the day before and we never got to eat there. We saw he itching her butt, than grabbing drinks from the bar and than seen talking to the bartender for 10 minutes straight eventually having the bartender point that she ( the waitress ) hasn't served us. I would never come back to this establishment. We tried the next day to make a reservation and they charged us $100 for a free reservation that is stated on their website and theres a sign outside the front that says free reservation. While the grounds of the resort were rustic and beautiful, this category 8 Hyatt property is quite expensive. If you are into golfing it may be worth it, but if you enjoy spending time in a nice hotel room then you should look elsewhere where you can get a nicer room experience at a more affordable rate. Here are some of the issues I encountered during my stay in a Vintage Oak room with Outdoor Tub: - Upon arrival I inquired about EV charging with both the check-in staff and the bellman at the valet desk by the Lodge parking lot. I asked if it would be ok for me to leave my car charging overnight and was told that would be absolutely fine. In the morning as I was ready to head out I unplugged the charger to learn that the charging rate was by time and I was billed for the entire time my car was plugged in, which was 2x more than the car actually needed to be fully charged up. I would have appreciated this as a heads up from the staff, especially as I inquired about charging overnight. - Our booking package included a bottle of prosecco and bath items which weren't delivered until I made an inquiry about it. - The front desk staff asked about the purpose of our stay, to which we said it was a birthday celebration, and offered to gift us a bottle of pinot noir, but this was not delivered until I inquired about it the next day. - The room tier I had selected in my booking had an outdoor tub space with a fireplace that could be accessed both indoor and outdoors. However, for unit 289, we discovered that the outdoor space was not very private. From the gate to enter the patio, passersby could see directly into the room to the bed, or directly to anybody using the outdoor tub. Also, we could not open any blinds for the room without allowing full visibility into the room through the front window. In fact, since we were not the end unit of the building there were multiple times where people walking to the adjacent rooms walked by and could look at us directly in our rooms. There was nearly no privacy. From what I could tell, the next door rooms had a slightly different configuration where more fencing did help give more privacy. - The decor and equipment in the room was dated. The heater above the bed would blow directly onto our faces whenever it turned on. The louvres could be manually adjusted but it would reset every automatic on/off cycle back to blowing directly onto our faces. The sitting chairs in the room had stained cushions and had holes in the rattan which would snag onto clothes. The glass shower door could not be closed all the way without the glass door hitting the corner of the glass wall. - The indoor tub initially produced brownish water until we cycled it for a few minutes which hopefully was enough. - The outdoor tub didn't work at all until engineering staff came to fix it, which disrupted afternoon/evening plans. - Upon coming back to our room one afternoon there was a filled dirty laundry bag and cleaning supplies left outside by housekeeping, in the pathway leading to the entrance to the room. - After housekeeping left, we ended up with only one bathrobe in the room instead of two. That said, the staff I encountered at the front desk and at the Valley Kitchen were all very nice. The lodge had many fireplaces to hang out around, and nice S'mores kits in the evening. The pools looked relaxing, and we might have used them if it weren't for the cooler rainy days that haunted our stay. read more

This is a perfect place to come and relax. We came with some family and had a wonderful week. There are acres and acres at this property with lavender fields, vineyards, an organic garden, goats, chickens, pools and the golf course. We would wake up in the morning and see wild turkeys and deer. There are a lot of classes and activities you can do here. We did the beekeeping and loved it. We learned a lot and I wish I could have my own hive after this class. Also, every night they have all of the things needed for s'mores around the fire. The suite we had was spacious and bright. I loved the outdoor bathtub and easily spent an hour each day in that tub with a glass of wine and a good book. read more

Oh man, this place has so much potential but is a total disaster. We came here with 6 kids and 14 adults to celebrate my Mom's 75th birthday. She was/we all were so excited but one thing after another kept disappointing-- then add the price point and promise of luxury and excellence on top of it, and it's an embarrassment. Each time we'd bring up the disappointments they were responded to in a way that was disingenuous and lacked follow through, and there was never any kind of: "what can we do to fix it?" or "oh no! So sorry, here's an idea: can we try to fix it this way?" Just total apathy, like they know they're selling a lemon and have to play along and pretend in their role. My guess is they are just understaffed and underpaid, and don't really care, which makes total sense to me. I probably wouldn't either in their shoes. Anyway, a list of things that missed in no particular order: - There were open, used nail clippers with clippings around them when we arrived in our room. -Two of the pools do not allow kids under 16, which really brings down the kid friendly image. Kids pool is packed and swarming with yellow jackets. -Food throughout is gross--which was in weird contrast with their farm-y natural-y image they are trying to go for. Just a bunch of heavily processed, over-priced, over-salted, over-sugared, bland....honestly feels like whatever you could buy at Costco for a fraction of the price. - The main restaurant SUCKED. The food was just okay, but totally inconsistent (and meat was terrible quality). And the price point just ridiculous--barely 2 cups of vegetarian risotto for $42?! We ordered things that just never came or came waaay late (I mean, a side of veggies as they're clearing plates and bringing the check?). They never offered us desert, coffee or tea, just brought us the check. (For a large birthday party?) It took FOURTY MINUTES between finishing salads/appetizers and bringing entrees with no acknowledgement of what was happening, and the entrees were cold when they arrived...and half the salad/app plates never got cleared. Definitely NOT fine dining, and definitely NOT worth the almost two grand for a special family birthday dinner. -No one explained anything at check in--like, how to get around. The little information about how to utilize the property that is available is online....but the internet situation sucks/isn't workable in many places on the property. -Hot water is scalding and out of control/impossible to control and erratic (maybe changing with other people's use in other rooms?), and made it dangerous for my kids to shower (again, kills the kid-friendly/safe image). -Shuttles are inconsistent and would often just not show. We waited 30 minutes in the hot sun with small kids for a shuttle despite asking multiple times for one. (Again, NOT so kid-friendly). -Did someone switch off our light for housekeeping? We turned it on multiple times and our room was never made up (over 3 nights) . Did they just not have time to come after we called? Gross food just sat in our trash cans and towels piled up. -There were very few towels to begin with and no blankets for the pull out bed where they were supposed to be. We had to call for more and they took over an hour to arrive at night to make up the kids bed. (again the kid thing...) -Pillows are big and hard and uncomfortable, and only one type is in the rooms (Bluff suites and studios that our crew was in at least) I could keep going but I think this explains it some. This was just what our family of 4 experienced, I'm not even bringing up what other people in our group experienced! Two stars for the beauty of the property and the few things that went right. If you're planning on really investing a chunck of change to get loved ones together for a worthwhile experience, check out other places that have more capacity to really personalize and offer excellence and attention for special family occasions. This place is a nice idea but just misses. read more

I semi frequently visit this property and each time the experience has been lovely. One of my favorite properties within the Hyatt brand. The Carmel Valley Ranch is perched amongst rolling hills in Carmel Valley Area. The property sits next to a golf course and is complete with fantastic views. The property also has a nice vineyard, a small farm, and a plethora of complimentary activities to offer. For those seeking more adventure or those with kids, there are also premium activities available. My most recent stay at this property was in a suite which included a spacious living room, a nice bedroom, and a small balcony with additional seating. Each room has a Nespresso, a walk in shower, a bath tub, and Chromecast connectivity. As Hyatt Globalist, we were given a wonderful array of options for complimentary breakfast. In addition, late checkout allowed us to enjoy an extra morning of activities on the property. The property is pet friendly and will also place a large dog bed for your pet. Overall the staff is wonderful, friendly, and make this place one of a kind. read more

Wonderful place specially for families! We loved the big kids pool with having so much space and amenities for adults to enjoy in the same time. Live music was the highlight. Sadly the prices are high and can't stay here more often but we really enjoyed our little getaway. Love the fire pits outside, and they are super welcoming with little ones :) read more

This property is just gorgeous! Brought my best friend here on a girls trip to celebrate her bday and we did not want to leave! The scenery is beautiful, the staff it attentive and friendly and there so many activities and things to do that you truly need more than one day here. It's definitely a splurge but if you're able to, one that's well worth it. We stayed in the Ranch Suite and it looks like a townhouse basically. They have bellmen that will help take your luggage to your room which is nice because it's a pretty steep walk up to where our room was. The pool and hot tub were great! We had dinner at The Valley Kitchen and the food and service was amazing! I think my favorite thing was the s'mores they have from 5pm-10pm daily where you get a little bag with everything you need to make 2 s'mores and you can sit next to one of the fire pits and make your s'mores and chat by the fire. It was such a fun way to de stress and relax and there's so much we didn't do but wanted to so there's definitely a reason to be back! read more
