Fantastic meal. First NYC diner I've been to in years, and it was fabulous. Typical hectic NY Saturday morning but we got seated relatively quickly. I had the all meat omelette (okay, I wish there was something with half meat, half veggies, instead of all of one or the other) but I loved it, and even with sausage, bacon and ham, it still wasn't overly salty. Flavored just right. Delicious hash browns and salad as well. The little one loved the nutella pancakes, and we also shared a breakfast burger which was top notch. Great combination with the omelette. You do have to block out the price, though, about $20 per meal and $8 for the freshly squeezed orange juice, but everything was super worth it and we all loved the meal! read more

Dropped by for dinner with a friend on a whim - we were walking in the area and had an urge for diner food. We got there around 7pm and it was quite busy, but there were still a handful of open tables (turnover was pretty fast so l don't think I saw people having to queue in general, even though there was a pretty continual flow of people in and out). I ordered the smoked turkey triple decker, which was really delicious. The turkey and bacon were surprisingly flavourful and not too oily, and the mayo and whatever other sauce they add fit really well. The bread was really oily, but this was more of an inconvenience in terms of holding the sandwich rather than the flavour profile. My friend had the symphony breakfast with scrambled eggs. Overall, it was fine, but nothing particularly stood out. The eggs and hash browns were pretty meh, but the fresh fruit were a nice touch. We also had an order of the caramel French toast to share. The toast itself was really yummy, but the sliced apples on top were bland (if not sour), which unfortunately did not serve to balance how sweet everything else was (incl the massive dollop of mascarpone haha). Portion sizes, as one would expect of classic Americana, were quite massive, and I only ate half of my sandwich. We managed to get through most(?) of the french toast and my friend did finish his breakfast plate. Price point was a bit high but not crazy for the amount of food and the location. I'd probably be keen to come back again, their menu definitely had a lot of good options. (I'll have to make sure to order a more reasonable amount of food so I don't walk away feeling like l'm about to explore haha) read more

I came to this Carnegie a while back because I was looking to meet with a friend for a quick drink. As I'm looking on Google, I saw this Carnegie, which was a different one from the other one I went to (I didn't even realize it at the time lol). I saw that they served drinks and was kinda surprised. So my friend and I met up here, and I just ordered a glass of red wine, but was surprised by the many options they have for drinks. She ordered an espresso martini. I couldn't believe they serve cocktails! Lol apparently, I've been going to the wrong diners, because I've been to many that do not serve any alcohol. I was greeted and seated immediately by friendly, outgoing gentleman at the hostess stand. Service started off really slow. It took a while before a server came to the table to acknowledge me, let alone take my order. A pet peeve of mine. I ordered the Corner Burger ($19.95). The fries were nice and crispy. I normally eat my fries with mayo so this was perfect. The coleslaw was so good that I asked for another cup. The salad was so fresh, lightly drizzled with balsamic glaze. I recommend this meal and would get it again. I ordered the unlimited mimosa special ($19.95 for 2 hours). The first mimosa came out warm. So did the second one. I asked for a cup of ice because the champagne/brut clearly isn't chilled. I do appreciate the fresh squeezed orange juice though. I do love the fact that all Carnegie Diner locations offer the $19.95 unlimited mimosa special every day of the week. Big plus! Decided to treat my mom to a day of pampering due to a stressful week ahead. We started with getting our hair done at Julien Farel and knowing that my mom loves comfort food and good ol American diners, my research led me to Carnegie Diner. This was a giant win. The wonderful staff/managers welcomed us with open arms and graciously escorted us to a very warm and cozy booth in the back - perfect for this very cool and rainy day. Our waitress, Christiana was superb. She was super sweet and perfectly attentive. She made us feel like family and we are deeply appreciative. We indulged in our favorite comfort foods and enjoyed each bite. My mom had a Californian omelette which included avocados, tomatoes, mushrooms and pepper jack cheese, and I built my own omelette and chose turkey bacon, spinach, and pepper jack cheese. In a word, fantastic and one of the best omelettes we've ever eaten. The hashbrowns were also perfectly flavored and heavenly. They use large organic eggs, which is very rare for a diner but this isn't you every day diner. It is truly a cut above where they use high-quality ingredients. Also to note the customers were really cool and the music they had playing 80s early 90s was really fun and certainly helped lift our mood. We recommend wholeheartedly! We had spent some time walking around looking for a place to eat, but everywhere else required reservations. Even though we didn't have one, he got us seated quickly and was so personal and welcoming. We were especially grateful because it was cold out and we were with my one-year-old daughter. We were also on a bit of a time crunch, and the entire staff did an amazing job getting us in and out fast without feeling rushed. As for the food--it was fantastic. Why you don't go out to breakfast on the last day of your trip. We were running out of cereal for our daily breakfast during our week stay at our timeshare at the Manhattan Club on 56th street. Walked around the corner and there was Carnegie Diner. We were seated immediately at 930am on a weekday, despite the place being packed. Wide expansive windows with a front row seat of Carnegie Hall right across the street. Takes 6 minutes for our dishes to arrive. My triple stack of $16 buttermilk pancakes comes, together with a fruit cup. Now these are not the 6.5 " pancakes at Grace's Second street, but 9" pancakes double the size. So big that even a big eater like me could eat only two of the pancakes. Absolutely delicious with the whipped cream, powdered sugar, and genuine Vermont Maple Syrup in a personalized bottle. Wife had six French toast with whipped cream topped with blueberries, sliced strawberries. She ate three of the French toast. Unlike our neighboring table, we took home our leftovers, as we could reheat the food in our kitchen and eat at our dining table in our timeshare at the Manhattan Club the next day, our final day in NYC. The prices are about $2 higher here than at Gracie's on 2nd at 84th, but the ambiance, quantity and quality of the food at Carnegie Diner is far superior. And Gracie's has to pay staffers to cook and serve food 24 hours daily. Was the closest I got to a Carnegie Hall performance that week. read more
