I've been purchasing tamales here from Carniceria Lopez for some time now because the moisture of the masa taste and the choice of ingredients in the sauces. Made the tamales taste better than their competition down the road. I did mind paying $30 a dozen which is substantially higher than the competition. I regret to inform you after purchasing tamales on 11/11/24 this was not the case. What a difference in the flavor! I had to come here because I was late getting to La Esperanza, but it was a good thing that they were sold out of what I needed down the street. Otherwise, I wouldn't have come down here. There's a little market and carniceria here, but I only went to the carniceria side, so the review will only reflect that part of the premises. I was quickly helped by a very kind employee, and she fulfilled my order with swiftness. She made sure what I had asked for was what I really wanted, confirming what I wanted in English. They had a variety of cooked meats readily available to grab and go with, and I got chicharron and carnitas. They were solid, with my preferring the carnitas over the chicharron. I wouldn't hesitate to make a purchase here again. Both selections of meat were good. Were they excellent, 5-star quality meat? I would love to give that answer confidently, but I can't. I'd love to try again when it's fresher made, but I came late into the day/evening. Despite that, they were really good. I'll have to come again earlier in the day on another occasion. Shrimp tostada is decent. Tender shrimp albeit kinda bland (nothing lime slices can't fix though). A bit disappointed on the bag of tortilla chips and tub of salsa roja that I also got. Supposedly the tortilla chips are house-made but they don't have the thick crunchiness that fresh tortilla chips have. Honestly they're like unflavored Doritos. Kinda stale too. The salsa roja has a strange sweetness like as if conventional hot sauce was added to it (it's also thicker than the salsa roja that I'm used to). Not my jam. So I came back, as promised, and this time, I tried the asada torta, and got another adobada taco. The adobada taco, which was oh so good last time, this time was a little dry, a little less flavor than last time. And you know what they say about the food industry, consistency is key. They're not consistent. The torta, similarly, was a little dry. I think there were some beans in the torta, which weren't seasoned much, which made the whole thing feel a little bland, even though when I tasted the meat by itself, it was really nicely flavored. So, I wasn't super happy with my torta either. Still, I do like this store, so I will come back at least one more time, and see how it'll be a third time. read more

This place is pretty good. I've been quite a few times, and felt these were some of the best tacos in Sacramento. When I go, I usually order the asada and adobada. This place can get busy, so it's definitely delicious. This time around, I went with my two friends, and my husband. We ordered asada, adobada, and chorizo tacos. The prices for the tacos are $2.50 each, which isn't too bad in my opinion. Unfortunately, even though tacos were delicious, after about 30 minutes of eating, my husband and one of my friends felt sick. They ended up needing the bathroom for some time. We chalked it down to the chorizo, as my other friend and I didn't eat any of the chorizo tacos and felt fine. Not sure if the meat wasn't cooked all the way, or if it was just bad. read more

That is why when I spotted Carniceria Lopez in my feed on Door Dash, I knew I had to try. I remember it like it was yesterday, I woke up craving grandmas breakfast burritos pre-quarantine. So I chose to satisfy my craving with a super chorizo burrito for breakfast. When the food arrived at my doorstep, I became excited and full of hope, waiting to devour this burrito. And I was pleased to see what was in the bag. Dense Burrito. I took a bit of this packed burrito, and was greeted with the flavors of good ol beans and rice with the added hint of sourcream and cheese. It was hard to put it down from the first bite, my new mission was to devour it as soon as possible due to how delicious it was! It could use a little bit more sour cream and guac, but the flavor of the rice and beans with that non-overwhelming hint of guac was just enough. Tucked in behind La Favorita Taqueria at the northwest corner of Fruitridge Rd & Franklin Blvd is a small Mexican butcher shop & store named Carniceria Lopez. On the shelves are the usual Bimbo bread, Chocolate Ibarra, fire-hot Chicharrones and candies with salt and hot sauce in them. The best part of the store is in the back at the lunch counter. It's a walk up with no tables - just a board with some dirt cheap prices for some of the best tacos and burritos in town. They may have someone working who understands English, but don't count on it - but they have never laughed too hard at my mangled Spanish. For me it's hard to pass up the La Favorita out front when I want some Mexican food, but be sure to give the butcher shop a chance. For the uninitiated it may be a little *too* authentic, but for my four lunch dollars it's the closest thing to south of the border here in Sactown. read more

i went here on a friday evening after work, because i was craving some cerviche. i seen my friend snapchat a few weeks ago til i finally came here to check out the market. i bought half pound of the shrimp cerviche and half pound of the fish cerviche. i also had to get me some lime and lemon to complete the meal. . called my mexican friend to see if he has tostadas so i dont need to purchase some, sure thing he does have some and a 12 pack of cold modelos to go with the cerviche i am bringing to his house to party. . pescado cerviche which is the fish - it is a white fish and defintely not fishy taste. the pescado cerviche hd a nice settled flavor with cilantrol, onions, and zesty citrus with it. . shrimp cerviche - this one had a stronger savory flavor than the fish cerviche. the flavor is different from the fish cerviche for sure. i really liked it alot. . overall both cerviche was good. they are unique in their own flavor and taste. i couldnt decide which was better but i would consider getting both again next time. i really like the cerviche paired with the toastadas and ice cold modelo to go with it. . the pro thing is that this market is located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. i like go in grab and go. i can not wait until i get to experienced their marinated meat so i can make some home made tacos at home soon.
