My brother always brings me here for brunch when I'm in town. Parking is a bit limited. The waiter welcomes you and takes you to the dining area to the left. As you walk in, you can see a lady making handmade tortillas. You can also see a large container of freshly made chicharron. The inside is nice with plenty of tables to seat multiple parties. They have two dining areas. My brother loves their tacos de carnitas surtidos. He normally gets three. They are made with handmade tortillas. I try something new each visit. So far, I've had their pan frances, tacos, pechuga de pollo, arrachera, and chilaquiles. Everything has been tasty. For this visit, I had their enchiladas with red sauce. I had one of each filing: chicken, cheese, and pork. They serve the three enchiladas with frijoles refritos, and machaca. I also got a licuado de platano. The licuados are lightly sweetened. The red sauce was flavorful. I've never had an enchilada with pork. The pork enchilada had the best flavor. They use queso cotija like my mom does. The chicken enchilada was flavorful. The chicken was seasoned well. They accept card and cash. If you pay with cash, I would recommend bringing pesos for a faster transaction. If you pay with dollars, they do take around 15-20 minutes to bring you change. I'm looking forward to trying more dishes. read more

During past visits to Tijuana, our group noticed that none of the street taco stands sold carnitas. On one occasion, we made a concerted effort to look for a place that served roasted pork. It brought us to this establishment which was southeast of the border crossing along Paseo de los Heroes in Zona Rio. There was a dedicated parking lot behind the building so you didn't have to search for a nearby curbside spot if you had a vehicle. Carnitas Quiroga is a sit-down restaurant with servers taking your order from a menu. Only a couple of the waiters knew some limited English, but the service was fine. We just pointed to what we wanted to eat and drink from the menu. The offerings included omelettes, fajitas and other Mexican fare, but what we wanted was carnitas which they sold by the kilogram. The quantity was designed to be split between four adults in a party. For a serving of one kg (over two lbs), there was plenty of pork to go around, and we ended up sharing the platter between the six of us. The carnitas was a mix of well-seasoned white and dark meat along with a lot of chewy pork skin. Corn tortillas, frijoles (beans), salsa roja, salsa verde, aguacate (avocado), cilantro, curtidos (pickled cabbage), and limones were provided as accompaniments. We couldn't finish all the food as this spot was the last stop before heading back to the States. Leftovers were plentiful to take home and made for a tasty meal the next day. read more

Tijuana against all odds, has many restaurants that have a very high quality in the meals they serve... this week I worked here coming from LA and usually I go to my well known places. This time I decided to try a very Mexican type of food restaurants that offer Carnitas among other dishes. I tried their carnitas combination with three different types, maciza, cuerito and buche... Carnitas usually are very greasy but Quiroga's amazingly are very soft in grease and they are tender and tasty. Their salsas amazing!! A green avocado salsa and the other chile de árbol red, hard but very tasty. Since we arrived they are very welcoming, rapid to serve with a smile. They have a unique style that makes you feel welcome and the prices are fine. Quiroga's is located in Avenida de Los Heroes the nicest boulevard in the city and has an elegant ambience. I'm pretty sure I'll be back in my next trip again... if you are in Tijuana and you like typical Mexican food, don't miss it. read more

Carnitas Quiroga may have changed ownership recently. They used to recognize me there, but the last time I went there, the team had changed and they had a new menu. I had a plate of flautas. They were not as tasty as usual. The meat was tough and stringy. I believe they have been under some kind of pressure and may have had to sell out. The last two times I went, an armed guard was outside, which was unusual. I wondered why he was needed. The second time, most of the staff was gone. They were only selling food to go. The third time, there appeared to be all new workers and a new menu. read more

When in TJ, venture out of the tourist area by taking a $5 taxi to this awesome little carnitas joint. If you like nice portions and fantastic food, this place won't disappoint. The staff does not all speak English, but we were lucky enough to sit next to a really nice local and his 2 young daughters who helped us translate the menu and get another taxi back to the border. The portions were very generous and the service was great. Atmosphere was okay but the carnitas made up for it! Prepared to perfection! Our first visit here was on a Sunday 6 months ago. Business hours posted state they close at 9pm. We arrived right before 8pm. They were sold out of buche. We got Carnitas with rice beans tortillas. The quality and taste were very good. But the amount of meat was scant.You could tell that we got the last batch. The second issue was we felt rushed to eat since we were the last customers of the night. Second visit: Fast forward to yesterday. We arrived around 7:00 pm. It was empty. We were told that buche was sold out. I asked if they had Carnitas. Nope! Sold out. What's the name of this place? CARNITAS QUIROGA. Carnitas is in their name yet they don't have product to sell after 6pm Lol. If you're going to try this place out, get here at lunch time. Otherwise you risk it being sold out. read more

If you're ever in TIjuana and in the mood to try a typical, very traditional "carnitas taco" do yourself a favor and go to Carnitas Quiroga. You won't be disappointed. Moist, nice texture, crisp, good flavor balance, they serve all their orders with deliciously ripe avocados, Mexican limes, delicious salsas and typical garnishes like cilantro and cebolla. I really want to like this place. Great location, easy parking, beautiful interior, good service. And so cheap! Carnitas plate with 2 beers for $13. The problem was the signature dish - the carnitas were dry and tasteless. The salsas were good and hot and I had to use a lot of them to give any flavor. It was getting late on a Wednesday night, so I may have gotten the last of a batch cooked earlier. En Las ocasiones que he pedido El servicio por Uber, la entrega en una ocasion ha tenido mala presentation, en Las otras, no han incluido platos o tenedores y cucharas deshechables aun pidiendolos, ni siquiera servilletas. Las tortillas no estan calentadas lo suficiente y lo Ultimo fue que pedi una coca cola. Mi error fue asumir que, como en muchos otros establecimientos cuando he pedido una coca cola de litro y medio o dos Pago de 30 a 40 pesos, asi que pedi una coca que me costo 35 pesos y lo que me dieron fue una lata de 325ml. Es realmente un robo si Uno no se fija, ya que en la app no especifican El tamaño de Las bebidas solo El precio.
