A 40-minute wait on a Monday. And absolutely acceptable because the food was worth it. Luckily my friend got there early and put our names in. I'd been wanting to go to Carolyn's for over a year and finally met up for brunch with friends. The coffee was that perfect diner coffee. The coffee cake was indescribable...the best I've had, for sure. I got the breakfast sandwich and potatoes and we all shared a pancake with some dreamy lemon blueberry whipped topping. No syrup necessary, and I ALWAYS opt for syrup. We sat outside, which was fine. A place being so busy on a Monday (and every other day, I hear) speaks for itself. Parking was also easy. read more

I just ordered food and picked it up at 12:15. It's now 1240. I just made it home. I'm eating my food and I get to the bottom of my container and there's holes like someone microwaved this entire dish. The sauce is scarce and I'm just really disappointed. We've eaten breakfast here 3 times over the past several month. The first time was outstanding. I had the Chicken Fried Steak, and my wife had a vegetarian bowl. The last 2 times we ate here my order wasn't as good as the first time. The hash browns were burnt, and the steak just wasn't as good. The potatoes in my wife's last (this morning) order were undercooked. We may give it one more try. The place is almost always packed (wait times are 10-15 minutes) so lots of people like it. The servings are large, and the warm coffee cake topped with butter is delicious. read more

My coworker's raved about this place and decided to go after work. I joined the waiting list and was seated right on time. Friendly staff, as well. We had the outdoor seats and the weather was just perfect this morning. I ordered the steak and eggs with country style potatoes. All the dishes that were brought to our tables looked delicious. I'm not sure what has happened, but our food today was cold...all of it from the coffee to the pancakes to the bacon. We sat inside so it wasn't because of being outside. My husband did notice that the warming lights above the counter, where the cooks put the food until it's picked up by the waiter/waitresses, were off. He told the cashier when he was paying the bill and they asked why we didn't say anything. The thing is, I did have our waitress warm my coffee. She should have just brought me another HOT cup of coffee. Waitresses/waiters job is to check the food before serving it. My eyesight isn't as good as it used to be but I can certainly see steam coming from a plate. read more

I've been here many many times, before it was so popluar as it is now. It is popular for a reason the food is really good, my go to is the country fried steak breakfast. The portions are good, service is fast an of course the coffee cake is the best I ever had. My only complaint its getting a little pricey, thats the world these days, but after spending $50 on breakfast for two I'm realizing I need to start cooking a little more at home lol. read more

Food is good but the coffee cake is the best! I usually get the omelette, I'd say 3.5/5. What I keep coming back to is the coffee cake 5/5. The wait here is very long but you can waitlist so I highly recommend. They have indoor and outdoor seating but the outdoor is limited. The service here is good although it gets busy so you may have to wait a while before you can catch the server again. They have restrooms inside. read more

We just stopped at Carolyn's Café on our way to Arizona from Ventura County and it was outstanding! We had the cinnamon roll pancakes, egg scramble (which we split), spinach and mushroom omelette, biscuits & gravy, and they brought a complementary piece of their world, famous coffee cake!... we actually bought an ENTIRE coffee cake (9" x 13") to go. Take a look at the pictures we took for all of that, including the menu and their newspaper articles... Great service which was very friendly and helpful! The food quality was top-notch and the price point was comparable for what you got as far as quantity and quality... I highly highly recommend this breakfast spot, which is open from 7 AM to 1 PM daily, for anyone coming through this area. You will not be disappointed! read more

Amazing food, and service. They told us we were going to have to wait for about 15-20 min. Took our information. I think we only waited about 5 min. The staff is amazing and takes care of you from the moment you walk in until you leave. The place is like a diner, the food is outstanding and the prices are phenomenal. The building is clean. We stumbled onto Carolyn's by accident. I was looking on Yelp for a place to eat lunch, and Carolyn's sounded pretty good. The place is very busy at lunch time, so we had to sit outside, which I now recommend. It is busy and a bit noisy inside. There were lots of law enforcement types eating there, and that is not a bad thing. My wife had a very good hamburger and fries. She thought the fries were very good. I tried the Club sandwich with onion rings. The sandwich was so thick that I could hardly bite it. It was very good. The onion rings were not greasy and not overly breaded. Onion rings were not extra, which is unusual. I really enjoyed the meal, but I could not eat it all, and that never happens in my world. I would definitely go back. read more

This place is always busy, for good reason. The service is always friendly. Seating takes about 15-20 minutes. Your meal is always made fresh upon order. So happy there are veggie options! Portions are big, shareable size if you really want. The coffee is offered throughout your meal if your order it. Feels like you're eating at someone's house. It's great! Will be back! Still have yet to try the famous coffee cake. I'm a sucker for the delicious pancakes! I've been coming here for a ling time even when they were still in the old location. The best breakfast place in town. Always order the Coffee cake with melted butter.. so yummy for your tummy. We order the egg benedict that was prepared to perfection and The delicious hawaiian toast. Staff very attentive and helpful. we were sitting outside. i thought they would probably forgot about us. In 2016, Carolyn's Cafe moved to a larger location in Redlands (double the seating capacity). We are known for our hearty breakfasts but we also serve a full lunch menu including sandwiches, salads, burgers, soups, and more! Our signature item is our fresh baked Coffee Cake, served warm with melting butter!! Keith and Jan bought Carolyn's Cafe in 2014. Keith had been in food service for over 30 years and this is his first sit-down restaurant. Keith and Jan thoroughly enjoy the family atmosphere of the Cafe and the interaction with regular and new customers. We are not planning on expanding our hours anytime soon. Minimum wage is now $14.00 per hour and will be increasing again next year. It makes it too expensive for us to stay open longer.

Similarly, there was some sauce but I did not notice it very much between the mayonnaise and other condiments inside the sandwich. I don't know if the idea is to make the sandwich extra salty so I'll buy more drinks. I would rate this place in the category of come here if you're starving, wait for a different place to open if possible.

I told him Albacore and he instantly makes me some concoction with ponzu sauce which was fire. He then asked me if I like salmon and I told him yes and he makes me a seared salmon roll with orange sauce and pepper. By this time I'm stuffed but enjoying this experience. He made going to a sushi restaurant interesting again like when I first tried sushi. We start talking about Japan and he ask me if I ever had salmon skin. I tell him absolutely not and that when I bake salmon I usually take the skin off. He then tells me that I HAVE to try a salmon skin handroll so I figured I should just go with it. My mind was blown!! I actually like salmon skin lol. It was so good! Overall, I had an amazing experience at Niko Niko and Chef Yaser. Our waiter Drew was not only awesome but also incredibly attentive, making our meal all the more enjoyable. Amazing down home food at a fantastic price point. Complete variety on the menu; anything from a typical burger to Hawaiian bread strawberry French toast. The portions were HUGE, pancakes bigger than your head, potatoes for days. We ordered the monte cristo, it was phenomenal. Our party also had the churro waffle, the strawberry shortcake, the lemon poppyseed pancakes, the southwest omelette- everything was massive and delicious, even down to the French fries and ranch. The service was great. It was packed and hopping when we got there, and had to wait about 40 minutes for our larger party, but the wait was so worth it.
