We had a good experience with this company. We had them do a large flooring job in our home that included reflooring the majority of our home. We shopped at several other flooring ships and the floor store chain was $4000 more than Carpet Center. Same brand. Same quality. Same color. They are a smaller shop so installs and scheduling can take longer or be a little iffy but if you communicate clearly and regularly with Kitty she will hook you up and make sure it goes well. We recently had the flooring replaced in our home. Rick (owner) and Carlos were amazing. They worked every single day from 0800 to 5-6 pm and did such a meticulous job. They ripped out all of our old flooring, moved all the heavy furniture back and forth and cleaned up any messes left behind. My dryer vent was damaged in the process and Rick came back and replaced it with a new vent. The price was fair and the work is impeccable. After the horrific fire storm that tore through our community, I needed to get a rental property up and running quickly to house one of my besties whose family lost their home. Kitty cancelled all scheduled installs for the week to focus on emergency situations like mine. Her solid relationships with her vendors allowed her to expedite shipment of high quality carpet so her install team could get to work. They worked incredible hours to finish the job. My experience with Carpet Center In Windsor was very disappointing. Lack of communication was the main problem. Promises of return phone calls from Kitty were not fulfilled. Our deposit was taken and we had an install date but the flooring was not in her possession as promised. Turns out it was backordered so more delays. Two more weeks with no communication, we decided to cancel the contract. We found another local flooring dealer to do the job for us. read more

When walking in to Carpet center and seeing all the spider webs, and dust that should have been a red flag to us that things wouldn't be so easy. Being that this was our first time to ever get laminate flooring we had so many questions. Although Kitty answered them she did come off real annoyed and bothered by them. I just gave her the benefit of the doubt and told myself maybe she had a bad day. As per Kitty's request to email her the SQFT we needed, I did just that and never did get a response from her confirming the order was placed. My husband ended up calling Kitty to check if she ordered the flooring. She was like no one got back to me so I cant order anything without knowing how much to order. When my husband told her that his wife (me) did email her, Kitty simply brushed it off like oh well I didn't get the email sorry. Why we even continued to order anything from her at that point was: 1) We found the color we wanted, 2) We wanted to do the flooring before we moved into our home 3) After calling the distributor directly to place our order we were told we needed to contact one of their retail vendors. I am obviously no expert on flooring so of course I assume because Kitty has been in business for many years she would make sure we got everything we possibly needed. You would think she would ask questions to get an idea of what type of transition strips we needed. No we found out after getting the floors installed we needed the rounded strips for the fireplace and 2 other areas. When calling her to tell her we needed them she really got annoyed at us like it was our fault for not knowing what to order. She's the expert not us. Still waiting for the transition strips. We are happy with our new carpeting from Carpet Center. They were quick, efficient and courteous. They put new carpet in our whole home in one day. I don't understand what the other reviewer was talking about. There is NO exposed staples, bare tack strips, rusted nails poking out at our place. We had to move almost all furniture in our home except for the really heavy things. Have to take a couple stars off because of the general contractor they were working with. We got a home improvement loan through Sonoma County. This contractor got the low bid because they were so cheap on carpet. Later we found we had a choice of two very low quality carpets. This is not the Carpet Centers fault. It was the general contractor's (who will remain nameless for now). This contractor was very high on other home improvements such as installing a bathroom fan/heater (turns out it was only a fan). And front deck (nice but extremely over budget). If I had to do it over again....We would not use this general contractor. Again, not the fault of Carpet Center but the general contractor they work for. read more

We went in over two weeks-ago (based on recommendations from friends). When we finally got 'Kitty' to understand what we were looking for, she narrowed it down to some carpet samples. We were promised bigger samples (for color purposes) in four business days. Nothing. A very unpleasant man named "Rick" came in to measure our house in order to get us a quote. We heard nothing back, so I called "Kitty" last week to follow up. She had excuses as to why she didn't have our quote, or the samples yet. I asked her when we could expect a call back. She said she was sending an email to the carpet rep that night. Nothing. I wanted to go local. I am SORELY disappointed. read more

As first-time home owners, we were absolutely overwhelmed by the choices we needed to make in a very short period of time. I extensively research most purchases and ask friends for recommendations. A local friend suggested Carpet Center and I can't thank her enough. Kitty and Rick are experts. They are kind and truly want the best outcome for their clients. They aren't daunted by questions (we had a multitude!) and are as involved as little or as much as one would like. The installation was so quick, and so professionally executed. Hired them to install tile shower, floor and backsplash. They didn't put any tarps down so my house was filthy. They messed up the half wall on the shower and had to fix it 3 times. They installed metal dividers rather than belveled tile and didn't ask me my preference. They used the wrong grout color, tried to hide it by changing the order form and then gave us a bottle of grout color so we could fix it ourselves. They took weeks to finish a job that should have taken days. read more

We purchased hardwood and carpeting from the Carpet Center. Customer service was very good until the deposit for the materials was paid, then they no longer returned emails and were difficult to schedule with. When the crew finally came out to remove the old carpet, they left exposed staples sticking out of the floor, bare tack strips with rusted nails poking up at doorways and steps, remanants scattered about, and they refused to remove the old rusted tack strips before laying new carpet. We puchased here to support a local buisness, I wish we had gone with someone else. At this time, I do not want this crew installing my new carpet, based on the quality of work they did in the removal, however I may be stuck with them. Ok....so....I'm from the U.K. and moved here 2 years ago. My wife and I were renting in Healdsburg and brought a house in Windsor. Everyone told us to go to Home Depot as they had the best deals, financing etc......I got quotes from lots of places but chose Kitty and Rick (for hardwood floors in living areas) following a friends recommendation, also loved their samples ( the fact I could take large samples home for a day or so) and the service in shop AND.........price. I was going to get Home Depot to do Carpet (for bedrooms) as they did free install. However, after Rick came over to the house and lent me tools to use and advised me on how to do jobs to help save costs AND after Kitty squeezing our 3 day job in at the last minute (a call in the morning saying they could do that day was a nice surprise 3 days before planned install) I sent them the quote that Home Depot gave me for the Carpet and they managed to beat it easily AND ordered and installed it within a week....I then even asked them to do the baseboards that they did to perfection. The only problem we encountered were 2 wood boards that were bizarrely lighter than the rest that were laid....when Rick and Kitty saw it they rectified it the next day and were horrified that it had even happened (the boys that did the flooring were charming). This is 'old school' local service that's hard to find anywhere.....and I manage restaurants!!! Nothing but praise for them (and I never write reviews!) We had carpet replaced in our living/dining room with laminated wood flooring (no problem there) and then 3 years later we had sheet vinyl installed in our kitchen. I see another reviewer had problems in getting the scheduler (Kitty) to give them a start date for the flooring work. We ended up being given 20 minutes notice for them to start work. We didn't even know what day they were going to show up on. The installers were great; the flooring had a bubble in it, and they scheduled a time to repair it, no problem there. But Kitty always seems so annoyed with you when you talk to her on the phone or in person. I got a notice in the mail about a $100 rebate if you hand in 10 canned food items and have work done in November or December, but when I asked about getting the rebate it was as if was asking for the world. It's YOUR offer, Carpet Center. Don't make it if you don't want to deal with it. Bad customer service from the owner of the company. No excuse for that attitude. read more

I wish I could give Carpet Center 5 stars, but the biggest problem is their lack of communication. We just spent several thousand dollars putting in hardwood floors and are waiting for some add'l work on the stairs. Their installers were excellent. However, I had to call the individual assigned to us numerous times re the wood deliver & installation schedule. She never got back to me and the wood arrived a day late. She promised last week to call to schedule the next delivery & installation but we have still not heard from her. I see the deposit was charged to my credit card but still ZERO communication as to when the wood or the installers actually will show up. They don't seem to understand customers all have calendars and schedules that need to accommodate the work! I also had to specifically request an invoice. If you do use them, definitely do not expect any organized system of communication. Unlike most businesses who call or email with every detail of the dates and process, plus follow up after the work is complete, Carpet Center needs to up its customer service and attention to detail significantly. read more

We were very pleased with the Carpet Center and the work they did for us was great. We had them remove an older oak floor and carpet and installed a new laminate floor. We checked several stores including two well know stores before deciding to use the Carpet Center. Their prices were competitive and the material they used was from well know manufactures. Their products are all priced in their store and you know what the costs are without asking. They gave us their standard installed labor price per foot for the laminate and a list and price of minor additional materials. The quote was the lowest we received. Their quality of work exceeded my expectations. They did the job as requested and when I needed them to pull out the oak for new cabinets in the kitchen they were there. They installed the floor as scheduled in 2 days and I found that their installers have been with them for 14 + years. They worked very hard with no wasted time. The accuracy of the work was so great I optioned out on putting trim in many areas that normally required trim. I'm a retired meticulous General Contractor who has built numerous craftsmen style homes. You will be glad you used them for your flooring needs. Maybe they may not be the greatest schedulers. read more
