Had our LVP installed in October 2024. Adequate customer service and decent product. Installation is the reason for a one star rating. They put a hole in our dryer vent tube and denied doing so but they did replace it. The bigger issue was the reinstallation of our two toilets. The installers had no idea what they were doing. Both toilets caulking at the base started discoloring. We called a plumber and found out the installers cracked one of the flanges and laid the LVP on top of both flanges. A $750 Plummer bill replaced the flange the installers cracked, cut away the LVP that was covering the flanges, properly leveled both toilets and grouted both at the base. Thanks Carpet Man!!!!! Two reasons for this review... to alert people to poor installation and to have Carpet Man respond to this rating. read more

We had carpet installed a few months ago. We had two small rooms and they assured us the carpet we picked was large enough not to have any seams. The seam is right when you walk the bedroom door less than 2' in a 10x10 room, it is visibly noticeable. After multiple attempts, they did finally come back out, he tried to "Fix" the seam but after a week it came right back. We have tried numerous times to contact them about the carpet with no response. read more

I highly recommend Bob Starling from The Carpet Man! I had a terrible time getting anyone to ever follow through. After one young guy came out, measured and talked a good game, he totally ghosted me after that. I texted him after about 10 days and when I didn't head back, asked on FB for recommendations for someone for tile!! Within minutes a friend had Bob call me and he came out the very next morning and got the ball rolling. Edgar and his crew took out old carpet and tiled my bedroom and closets. Best Service ever. From when we got there where Dave took our order and was patient with us figuring out the measurements for the four bedrooms and giving us the best and right price. To Matt and Dillan helping us cut the pieces for each room and then even helping us set up an appointment for someone to come and install them. Juan and his wife were amazing and did such an amazing job making the room look completely new. Definitely recommend them. The only downside is that most of the houses I own are down in Miami and not in Jacksonville. Hope to find you guys down in Miami at one point. Thank you really for everything you guys did. If I could give 0 stars, I would. There could only be one reason a business this big does not have a Facebook page...Read on... There is not enough time or space here to give all the details of my situation. I do have a log of it. Suffice to say I am one very unhappy customer. Let me preface this by saying that I am a very reasonable and patient person. Very long, unresolved story short...I chose Carpet Man because they are the only store in this area that sells the flooring I wanted. I had Carpet Man do the installation. After installation, I noticed several small tears at doorways and some bubbles (which did not disappear when I stepped on them, as one of the installers suggested)...also one very long tear (approx 7") which they apparently repaired at the time of installation. (FortunateIy, the flooring pattern is such that it almost blends in unless you are looking for defects)...I asked them to come out & fix these issues. An installer showed up with a caulk gun and an attitude and told me that the tear in the first doorway could be covered by quarter round (it hadn't been installed yet)...did not seem to care that this tear could keep ripping across the floor, and acted like he didn't know what I was talking about when I said it could be repaired with heat. He just completely blew me off. I told him that someone from Carpet Man needed to come by during the day when all of the defects could be clearly. Did I mention it was @ 9 PM when he came by, with no call ahead as I requested? This was a recurring problem with Carpet Man. I repeatedly asked for a 20 minute call ahead so I could meet someone at my house, and never got it except once when the salesperson met me so I could show him the issues. Fast forward to couple days later, I receive a call (again, no call ahead) that the guys had been to my house and went inside because someone else was already there working on hurricane repairs...and that they were done. By the time I got home, of course they had left, and I was appalled at what they had done! They did fix the problem areas, but they also caulked every single doorway & opening, with caulk that didn't even match, applied like a 3 year old had done it! (See photos) Most areas, it looks like cat poop. The majority of it is terribly uneven. Some of it is even smeared and there are also smears on my brand new floors where they did not clean up after themselves. No one could seem to tell me WHY everything was caulked. It was not necessary & ruined the look of my beautiful new floors. Wade the salesperson came out and I personally escorted him to each doorway & opening in my home, all of which were caulked. Including closets. Wade seemed to think it would clean right up and offered to have someone come out to do that. Ron the general manager at the Orange Park store said he would send someone out when it was convenient for me... between 3-4 on 2/14/18. We were all set. So on that day I got a call at 1:30 from the warehouse manager saying he was on the way and would be there at 2. Off the mark once again! I have to schedule around my job and I just can't leave whenever. So he agreed to be there at 3. He did show up on time, I will give him that. He was at my house for almost 2 hours working on ONE doorway. And still did not get all caulk removed. Most of his visit was accompanied by the speaker on his cell phone blaring out the details of a one thousand dollar car repair which he was clearly unhappy about. But I digress. He proceeded to tell me he was finished, and when I asked what about the other areas?? He told me he was told there was only ONE area, and he left, but not before asking for a final payment. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!!!? I immediately contacted Ron the GM who told me he thought it was only one door as well. Mind you, this is the same Ron who told me twice that he knew all about my situation & had been aware of everything that was going on. He then proceeded to tell me that caulking is part of every hard surface installation, regardless of whether anyone had told me that before or whether I liked it or not. REALLY RON. I guess your salespeople & installers are unaware of that little detail, because they called my job done & asked for a check multiple times after the installation (which, by the way, included zero caulk). If you have read this far, I appreciate your patience and interest. I promise this is the short version. I attempted to contact the owner of Carpet Man, but he has not responded. I thought at least HE would care that my new flooring is ruined. My house was partially demolished during Hurricane Matthew and I am just now about to complete repairs. I was so excited about my new floors and now I have to live with this caulky mess for a long time. Ron's offer now is that I don't have to pay the balance owed, and Carpet Man will consider my account paid in full. But they will not send someone back out unless I pay the balance in full. read more

Customer service and commitment are truly a miss for this business. Starting at the top. Be sure to consider other outlets before you decide this is the right company. Cheap floors equal less than stellar customer service. Their response will be a reflection of their brand, maturity, values and ultimately service. I walked into The Carpet Man for the first time a few weeks ago. I'm selling one house and carpeting a new one. Billy at the store greeted me, showed me all my options for both homes, gave me awesome deals. The place and Billy were amazing. It was the easiest purchase I made, he was so helpful. I've dealt with so much during the sell of the house and I can say this was the best and easiest. The install team was soooooo nice, they did a great job. In fact, several months ago I lost a gold necklace my dad gave me. The lead installer found it and gave it to me. I was so happy, excited and could not believe the honesty and integrity that team had. The job and experience was bar none the best. I highly recommend them to anyone. For the 6 years I've lived in my home my ring was put in the same place. I never have company so these people had to take my ring. Simply put, I am very happy with my purchase and the service I received for new carpet. I tried a few places around town and I must say Carpet Man was one of the most affordable for a 12x13.5 living room. The best part is that they have a warehouse with a variety of options. You can take home swatches to see how the carpet will look inside your place. Other stores didn't have that option and would have to order swatches in. A week and a half ago, I went into Carpet Man on St. John's Bluff. I need carpet for a rental house that is vacant. Jim Berry helped me. I chose carpet, and was told he would be out to the house the following Saturday to measure. He assured me he would be able to lay the carpet before the end of the month. On Wednesday of last week, I went back into the store to confirm everything was on schedule. Jim was not there, but we wrote out all the information and left a message again, in the store for him. It is now 10 days later, I have called three times and left messages, and he has not called me back. Today I called him, he answered, and assured me he would call me back. He has not called back, nor has he measured. I would not recommend them. read more

I had a flood in my home over the holidays and so thankful for how quickly Shelley Matzen from The Carpet Man was able to come out to my home to have it measured. Within a few days she had my quote to me as well as a Saturday install. The technicians came on time Saturday morning and spent the better part of the day tearing up the old flooring and installing new carpet. Shelley even reached out to me after the floors were installed to make sure everything went ok. Great customer service and I would definitely use them again. read more

First I will say that I am mostly satisfied with the process, but I have been unable to get someone to come back and finish installing the threshold between the bedroom and bathroom. The product is beautiful. Turned out great. The service leading to the finished product on the other hand wasn't up to par. Messages and phone calls were rarely returned. The installers left a mess in the yard from the table saw. They did however come back and replace certain parts of the floor that needed it. read more

Don't waste your time and money going to Lowes. I spent $35 for Lowes to come out and measure several days later. A week later They said I needed 50 linear feet. I disagreed and got a second opinion from the Carpet Man. I spoke with Steve on a Friday afternoon and he came out the very next day on a Saturday. His measurements were the same as mine, 41.5 linear feet. Two business days later the carpet was installed with 41.5 linear feet. I got a better carpet AND better padding for less money than the Lowes bid. I was extremely satisfied dealing with Steve and The Carpet Man. read more

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND 'CARPET MAN' (along with other local families we have talked to at sports/community activities since our experience)!! We've found them very unprofessional and unethical. We are new to area and met/discussed our home project with them for over a month and signed contract for services. Price seemed good up front (read below for final costs)... Product is typical/average as expected for medium grade LVP. After first day on job, they admitted to making a major error in estimate, which cost our family extraordinary time, money (including missed days of work for extra week of contractors in home)... let alone stress of 4 people and 2 large dogs confined to small bonus room and 1 bath for extra unexpected week, plus no kitchen/cooking or laundry hookups. Carpet Man management stated in email this morning that consideration to us for their admitted error is "not warranted". Overall cost for Carpet Man product/experience far exceeded other organizations/options. read more

Extremely disappointed. Brought in new but dirty roll of carpet. Less than 1 year in the house and the recommended "stain resistant" floor covering is worn out and dirty looking despite 3 cleanings. Salesman was incredibly rude and unhelpful when installation issues at doorways was pointed out. Manager was more professional but our carpet is still a disaster. read more

want to update and say Charlie ,the manager , was able to get my floor replaced and it looks great . waiting for the trim to be replaced but very grateful to have the floor I paid for and sorry the owner was not more willing to make this right from the start . I feel like Charlie and the installer wanted to do the right thing and we are very grateful that our floor looks great . wish I would not have been forced to make complaints or prepare to make a court case . went to the st john's bluff warehouse, on a tuesday, to look for a remnant that i could have bound for my living room. found just what i wanted, but when i asked to see the binding colors, that when things got dicey. the person who would be doing the binding said that he only had a few colors and the rest were at his orange park store, which was going to be a huge problem for me, since i wasn't coming back all the way from st augustine. thankfully, we were able to find another remnant that had been bound in a color that i liked, so he told me that he would head on over and get that binding from the other store. i paid for the rug and was told that my remnant would be ready on either friday or sat. called the salesman on thursday, just to check on the status of the rug and was told that seemed that the binding machine wasn't working and that new parts had been ordered and instead, the rug wouldn't be ready till next week. although the salesman thought that i would have the rug by wednesday of that next week, i didn't feel very sure. in the end, i canceled the order and asked for a refund. it was a huge disappointment, because i can't believe that they didn't know about the binding machine when i made the purchase. read more

I purchased carpet from the Carpet Man after the salesperson assured me he would not only match a competitor's price, but upgrade the carpet to a superior carpet made by one of the country's highest quality carpet manufacturers -Shaw Carpeting. I trusted him at his word and the added assurance of a "wonderful" warranty. As a result, I failed to research reviews for Shaw Carpeting on-line before making the purchase. My bad. Within six months, like numerous other online reviewers, I noticed the carpet was unraveling in three separate areas and taking on a matted appearance, even in one area that we didn't even walk on. Meanwhile, other high traffic areas, such as beneath the stools at our eat-in kitchen counter, which was subjected to constant "pivoting," remained unharmed. I called Carpet Man for months and months without any resolution or response by Shaw Carpeting or Carpet Man. The manager at Carpet Man eventually stopped by my house to see the problem areas, stating that "he had never seen a carpet unravel like that." He also agreed that the rest of the carpet looked fine and promised to have someone from Shaw contact me. After approx. 6 months' time, the manager informed me that Shaw was sending out an "independent" inspector. However, it was approximately one month before he showed up. Admittedly, during that time, I did not shampoo the carpet in those areas for fear they would blame it on the shampoo machine, detergents, etc. However, I did have a regular maid service and the carpet was vacuumed frequently. It is also worth noting that I had my previous carpet (purchased at Home Depot) for approx. 18 years and it was still in good condition when replacing it with Shaw carpeting. Clearly, I know how to care for my carpets! The inspector concluded that the unraveling and matting of the carpet was caused by pivoting and the fact that the carpet was "dirty." The warranty was void because I had not had it deep steamed cleaned by a professional in the six months IOWNED IT, prior to the onset of the problems. Even if it didn't need it! This explanation was given despite the fact that I own a high quality carpet cleaning machine and have used it successfully on the carpeting in this house, as well as my two other homes without any problems whatsoever. The stipulation for professional hot steam cleaning was not listed in my warranty agreement. Typically, any "high quality" carpet is made to withstand the normal daily traffic of 3-4 people for much longer than six months! If the deterioration was due to dirty carpet and pivoting, why would some of the highest traffic/pivoting areas remain unharmed? I filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau against the Carpet Man and Shaw Carpeting. Carpet Man offered no compensation whatsoever, hiding behind the inspector's ridiculous report. Eventually, Shaw offered to replace the carpeting with the stipulation that I pay for all the labor. They also stipulated that there would be NO warranty on the new carpet! If there wasn't a defect in the carpet, why yank the warranty? There was no explanation as to who would install the carpet or how much they would charge me. I was not willing to invest more of my money on the installation of carpet that I believed to be faulty, especially without a warranty. Seriously? I tried once again to speak by phone with someone at Shaw to try and resolve this issue amicably. I was told that the general manager would call me in two-day's time. Three weeks later, I still had not heard from him. I called once again, explaining that I did not want to take this to the next level and would prefer to try to work it out. FINALLY, they agreed to refund my money, but failed to mention that they were ONLY refunding the cost for manufacturing the carpet, which was around $400. ; a fraction of the amount I paid. I was pretty shocked when Carpet Man informed me of the amount of my refund. When I expressed my disappointment with Carpet Man for not offering any refund on their end, including the profit they made on my loss through this horrible experience, the manager responded by saying, "You obviously shopped around before you came to us. You should have known what you were buying. Nobody held a gun to your head and forced you to buy this carpet." Wow... Based solely on my own horrible, personal experience, I will never buy or recommend Shaw carpeting and I will NEVER buy flooring from the Carpet Man-NEVER! read more

They quoted a price at the store and then came to my home to measure. Not only did the price change, but they were going to charge me for the measure. A friend referred me to the Carpetman and we are so grateful! Charlie and his team are the most helpful people. They listened to what I wanted, showed us our best options and even came to our home to measure for FREE! We had a strict budget, and not only did we get BEAUTIFUL hardwood floors, we were also able to re-carpet our guest bedroom and still accomplished this under budget! I highly recommend this company! I was delighted with the with the entire process of buying new flooring for my home. Dave was very helpful and answered all of my questions. He followed up and checked to make sure the materials were in and the installers were at my home. The installers did an excellent job on the tile floor. It took several days. They made sure I was satisfied before they left. Another crew came in to do the carpeting. They worked quickly and efficiently to get the job done. Although their showroom isn't the best we experienced while shopping around for new flooring, their customer service goes above and beyond. We dealt with Dave and he was able to come to our house on the same day to measure and provide an estimate, which was well below the competitor estimates for the same quality flooring. He even came to our house on his day off to sign the contract. He also kept us informed each step of the way from ordering everything, when it arrived, nailing down convenient installation dates and then came to the house when the job was done to ensure we were pleased. There was one area where the old carpet needed to be stretched to but up against the new flooring so Dave ensured he sent someone the next day to do the work to our satisfaction. The installer, Alex, was very professional and thorough. He knew about the gap where the carpeting needed to be stretched, but preferred having someone else take care of it for fear he'd damage the carpeting since that's not his specialty. We wanted to replace the carpet in our house before putting our house up for sale and Shelley from Carpet Man was the best! She showed up on time to take measurements, provided several quotes based on the samples she brought and was done in about 30 minutes. She didn't pressure me to buy with them and was completely professional. I did get a quote from another company and decided on Carpet Man as they had the best price for my needs - your basic, budget-friendly carpet. The only issue I had was on the day of installation. I was provided a time frame between 9-11 but the installers didn't show up until closer to 1. I did get a call beforehand to let me know the installers were running behind so the delay was a minor inconvenience but nothing horrible. The installation was completed on that day and Shelley called the next day to follow up and see if we had any issues. The overall process was smooth and I'm very satisfied with the carpet.
