Hands down our experience with the Carpet Man was the best. We had them remove old carpeting and install new carpeting with an upgraded pad in our basement rec room. The two brothers arrived on time and were meticulous about clean up. Our rec room is rather large. They were able to get the carpeting installed in just a few hours, moved some larger pieces of furniture for the install, and vacuumed up when they finished. Super professional. Rashid and his crew(s) were outstanding from start to finish with regard to selection (he was never pushy and never asked us to buy something we weren't comfortable with or if it was too expensive), installation and follow up. We got our basement flooring redone (from carpet to "fake wood" flooring / CoreTex type flooring) and we had another team of his install tile right when you walk into the house. We wanted to get the carpet replaced on our basement stairs. I went to the Rockville library and read the CheckBook.org article titled "Top Carpet Stores and Installers". Carpet Man in Rockville was one of the stores recommended. I called them to get an estimate of how much the carpet, padding and installation would cost. They gave me an estimate and we went to their store to finalize the carpet selection. When we arrived they suggested we also look at the remnant carpets in the back. They have a HUGE selection of remnants in the back and we were able to find something that was a good fit for our basement stairs and significantly reduced the cost of the carpet. The next week their carpet installers came to our house and did a great job installing the carpet and were done in one hour. read more

The owner and his son seem like genuinely lovely people, which is why I wish I could rate the company higher. Unfortunately, the overall experience lacked a bit and lands me at an average review. The installers arrived an hour later than I was expecting them. The end product was more or less fine, but there were a few spots I wish the crew had handled more meticulously. (Various nails needed to be tacked down post-installation because they were catching our feet, for example.) This was an all-day carpeting job, and I'd hoped because of the scale of the project that there may be a check-in of some kind at the end to make sure we were satisfied with the results (a service we've received from other companies for different jobs within the same price range). I wouldn't dissuade anyone from shopping here, but I couldn't recommend this store wholeheartedly either. With a few additional customer service tweaks, I think the whole experience would've been more positive. read more

He listened to our needs, and encouraged us to take home several samples to see how it would look in the lighting at our house before purchasing. I'm so glad we did this because they really did end up looking different. We came back to purchase, he had competitive pricing and even gave us cleaner to use in the future for our new carpet, and said come back if we need more. He allowed us to pick our payment/deposit plan. I was very happy with the service. I will update after installation, but so far I'm a happy customer! Would recommend. read more

Unprofessional and indifferent to the customer from start to finish. When the carpet guy arrived he tried to pull the inner door to the house open as I was holding it, before he'd even introduced himself. That's invasive, and slightly intimidating behavior IMHO, especially with a female customer. Then he refused to move the furniture back into place after installing the carpet and I had argue to get him to do it. Then he picked up his dirty furniture tool off the floor and put it right on my white silk wedding album. Then he asked me to sign a receipt and give him that sole copy. I protested because this would have left me with no receipt. Also, the receipt said that I had to sign it to verify i had read the reverse side of the paper, which stated that the installation was guaranteed for a year if, and only if, I kept the signed piece of paper that he was demanding I give back to him. I suspect this slippery way of reneging on their contract is standard procedure because he said he thought his partner had already given me a copy of the contract, which would not have been valid even if the partner had in fact given it to me (he hadn't), since that copy of course would have been unsigned. read more
