Drove by this little park yesterday and saw that there were a TON of birds! So, of course, I had to pull over and grab my camera. I spotted at least 13 species and average 50-100 of each! Crazy! I saw maybe 100 Ibises and Wigeons. And I've never seen so many Black-crowned Night Herons all in one place. There were many hidden in the dense brush above the water possibly just roosting. I caught one of them catching a giant fish! See photo. So happy I got this shot. Great park to just sit, bird-watch and listen to the sounds of birds. It's street-facing so there's a little sense of safety. You can easily pull over and park next to the sidewalk so I love that. I'm definitely coming back to see if there's going to be any baby birds! read more

Just a huge park with a little recreation patch for the little ones and some good Canadian geese watching. There are other assorted ducks here but the majority are Canadian geese. It's a well kept up park and a nice place to just chill and bird watch. read more

The lake smells terrible when you approach it. the picnic areas on higher ground are nice but it's not worth it to go due to all the goose crap that is on the grass, especially by the lake. If you want to fish there you will be standing in a mine field of goose turds. We witnessed several people stopping on the side of the road to feed the geese, contributing to this problem. It's not the bird's fault. Its us humans that think feeding them is a good thing. read more

Like looking at ducks? Like looking at geese? Like feeding duck and geese even with signs everywhere saying not to feed them? Well this is the park for you since that's about all there is to do here in this tiny park. Tons and tons of waterfowl that will come from all corners of the park and surround you if you make even the slightest gesture of tossing food. And they'll demand you feed them at a fast pace. If you slack in your tossing ability they'll start to peck you without mercy. You don't want to piss off hungry geese. Parking is limited and there's bird crap covering pretty much every inch of the ground but it's a fun little park to unwind for a few minutes. read more

Came here to go fishing and didn't catch anything. I expected I wouldn't but decided to try anyways. As I was fishing I witnessed two families ignore signs telling people not to feed the wildlife. The signs even stated why feeding ducks bread or anything was not good for them but they would stand right next to the signs and feed the ducks bread. I called hbpd who never showed up to enforce the laws. read more

My family and I had finished having breakfast at the Cafe Cup in Huntington Beach. As we drove down Springdale Street we noticed all these birds gathered in and around this lake. Of course we had to stop and take in this incredible sight. This is how we discovered Chris Carr Park. You can park your car along the curb directly in front of the small fishing lake. The 11-acre park features picnic tables, playground, huge green fields and lots of birds. We saw beautiful white pelicans, a family of Canadian geese and a variety of ducks. The fishing lake is stocked with trout, catfish, bass, blue grill and carp throughout the year by the California DFW. Chris Carr was a United States Army soldier and a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions in World War II. It's a pleasant family park to enjoy any occasion. read more

This park is small but really nice for bird watching, nothing else. I hear the city is planning to improve this park to stimulate more activity there. I don't believe this park can have recreation and the small lake with water foul, the park is too small. A nice little nature park with paths and trees would be really nice. Eliminate the lake and hopefully the birds will move too. Add an improved covered play and picnic area, some basketball and pickle ball courts and you will have a nice place to relax and have fun. read more

My boyfriend works at Boeing nearby the park and I sometimes meet him for lunch. I usually pack a sandwich or salad, maybe a turkey sandwich and some chips or pretzels to enjoy. We haven't been back to Carr Park since our run in with the geese.... There are geese all over the park. I don't know the deal, but I have been here at various times of year and the darn geese are always present. And we are talking A LOT of them. So much that the last time I was here, they swarmed and forced us to eat lunch in the car. (I guess it is called "Carr" park!) We are on to them now so upon going back this afternoon, we knew what to expect and parked off of Heil Ave (instead of Springdale) to enter from the back/side of the park where the geese do not tend to hang out. We could see them, but should they choose to "attack" we had ample time to get back to the car unharmed. Overall, it's a nice green space with at least five picnic tables throughout the park. I would go back, but please take caution if you have food or don't wan to be disturbed because the geese are abound (which is the reason for my 3-star rating instead of a solid 5-)! read more

Have you ever driven by it and thought to yourself... "what a lovely park, the grass is so green... but why is it void of fchildren's laughter? Why are the swings and slides empty?" That's because there is poop everywhere!!! EVERYWHERE! I drove passed the park one day with my son , and decided to stop by. The first 3 ft of grass was clean with very little remnants of poop...then as we got closer to the swings.... more and more poop per square footage... halfway towards walking there... I had a mild panic attack and picked up my toddler and wanted to go back to the car. My toddler started throwing a tantrum so I carried him the rest of the way to to play area , and I thought to myself... the swings and slides will be clear of poop, right? NO it wasn't. There was poop in the sand , on the slide, in the tunnels. I had to recollect myself at this point. Then I picked my son, avoided the grass , and took the cement path to get to my car. Well... the cement path was also filled with poop and I had to dodge many poop piles and maneuver my way to step on mildly empty spots of cement, on wedges, while holding my son. Take this post as a warning. Conditions of that park is absolutely appalling and it is so gross. Not a place where you want to take your dogs or your kid's. I think they should just get rid of the park as it is no longer functional. read more

People seem to think it's ok to dump their poor unwanted pets here and some of the Asian cultures seem to think it's ok to come out and "hunt". And by "hunt" I mean bribe these poor ducks and geese with food, then grab them and wring their necks or beat them with a bat. I just stopped an Asian man the other night throwing ducks in his trunk. Please DO NOT FEED THE DUCKS BREAD! Give them snails, kale, spinach greens etc. Oyster shells are also important to keep the females from getting egg bound and dying. They LOVE watermelon rinds. If you see someone hurting the ducks, call the police before you throw them in the poop pond. I've been coming here since I was a kid. There's playground equipment, a pond with ducks/geese and fish in the pond, plenty of open space for sports and picnics. The only bad thing is that this park borders two main streets an doesn't have a fence. Also no fence around the pond. Keep little ones deep inside toward the back wall. No entry fee here and parking is pretty easy. (along Springdale or inside the neighborhood on Gumm). Great family place that's pretty quiet. read more

I came here hoping to spend some time in the late morning admiring the scenery, the "sweet" ducks, take in some fresh air, do some reflecting. Forget about it. These seagulls and ducks are little gang members. I don't recall ever being so afraid...because of birds ... The second I made my way over to a bench and table, the seagulls began screaming. I am no seagull expert, but this "bird alert" appeared to signal every available seagull in the area to come hover over and around me. I started to feel a little tense but decided I would not let some birds scare me away. Big mistake. Next thing I knew, I was surrounded by both seagulls and very large ducks (who might I add are unafraid and will look you in your eyes up close and personal). Even the small ones in the pond were swimming in my direction. When they spied that I had food, I felt they were going to kill me. Needless to say, be very aware of your surroundings here, especially if you bring food (or a sandwich, or anything bread related). You may end up toast yourself. I was afraid to take a sip of my mung bean tea for fear they would all start to attack the second I let my guard down to relax and sip tea. It was only when I left that I was able to breathe, unwind, and relax on that 405 freeway. On the 405 people! Who says that? No one. In any case, I was happy to leave and thankful I wasn't there long enough to end up on the news for a gang attack...by birds. Be careful out there fellow yelpers! "Duck park" tons of ducks & other animals as there is an island in the middle of the mini lake which offers them shelter. Usually a good amount of people fishing. Not a fan of this park. Too much poop and crazy animals for my liking. Try "Butterfly park" down the street. read more

We've been bringing our 3 year old son to this little park since he was around 18 months old. He absolutely loves it. There are a LOT of ducks & geese that reside here & they are so much fun for toddlers. This park is never crowded therefore quiet & relaxing. There is a playground for the kids & many benches under the shade by the pond where you can sit back & enjoy the company of the birds. I've seen some of the other reviews & yes there's a lot of duck poop but it does not in any way make the park less enjoyable. We love it. read more

Okay park but they need to police more the bong activity in the teenage punks that like to hang out here sometimes. Additionally the funniest thing about this park is the trash cans are located nowhere near the tables and benches. So there many times to come to the park and find piles of trash in the middle of great lawns. All in all a decent and safe park for the family. read more

Great name. Love the duck pond. Great for kids. Ducks, ducks more ducks! Great way to spend a sunny afternoon. Beats a dark movie theater.

The park is great just need some work need the bathroom room and water Clarity fix car park has a lot of potential I think
