I give this place a 9 out of 10. I got the carne asada tostadas salad, it was so delicious I forgot to take a picture before eating it as you can see by the picture of what was left. My friend got the carnitas flautas that came with rice and beans with a side of guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo. The portions are beyond generous and well seasoned. The girl at the register was so nice and welcoming. It's a small restaurant but very homie and very clean. I will definitely be coming back. read more

Lots of people order takeout, but we ate in. Amazing service and such a great menu. My wife had Caldo and really enjoyed the veggies and protein. I had albondigas, loaded with veggies and meatballs. We tried the Carrillos in Simi... we love the one in San Fernando. Simi did not disappoint. The restaurant is cute, clean, and very inviting. As expected, the food is absolutely delicious. Our group had Menudo, Chilaquiles, breakfast eggs, and a gordita. We learned that the tortillas are still made in San Fernando and delivered fresh each day. Of course we had to take some home. The seating was very comfortable and on a Saturday morning it was not as crowded as the one in the Valley. I hope others will support this family owned business. I'm regular customer here, I love their food but today service over the phone was very disappointing. I ordered huevos chorizo and I decided to do no pico de gallo because YOU HAVE THE OPTION ON THEIR WEBSITE to do so... also the website shows this particular dish with rice, beans. Bottom line I called the store to PLEASE, substitute the pico for green salsa ( 2oz cup) instead, and to get my dish without rice, so, they told me that I need to pay extra charge for the salsa and that rice don't come with it. I got a California chicken burrito that has chicken, guacamole, potatoes, cilantro, abundant chicken, but I got it to go and it wasn't very warm and I opened it a minute later they do put a lot of chicken in their burritos price for chicken burrito with tax was $15.55. Was not impressed the first time we went in. The chorizo breakfast burrito was extremely salty. A week after, my husband was craving an asada burrito. We doordashed them. An Asada Classic Burrito and Carnitas Classic Burrito. They were not good at all. Poor quality and very bland. They didn't bother to send salsas or napkins. I love their fresh warm flour tortillas. They're like crack!! I get a dozen every week. I eat it by itself! They're that good!! Their other food is typical normal Mexican food. It was a post-golf morning and my boyfriend and I were craving Mexican food. We found this little spot on Yelp in Simi and they had what we were craving: burrito and pozole. The restaurant is located in the strip mall plaza behind Panera with lots of parking. We were the only customers there on a Saturday morning so it was pretty empty. I got a full order of pozole with corn tortillas and he got a chorizo breakfast burrito. We also asked for free chips and salsa as well. I was also parched and ordered a horchata. We took our order for takeout and enjoyed it at home. I felt that the horchata kinda hit the spot but felt a little watered down. The pozole also felt a little watered down too but overall it was OK and had some good meat pieces and hominy. I loved all the toppings that came with the pozole. The chips were tough so it felt hard to crunch on. I had higher hopes because the restaurant has a 4/5 star rating but maybe it didn't meet my expectation. read more

I wanted to have some huevos rancheros for breakfast, so we came to Carrillo's restaurant. I'm a big fan of huevos rancheros, but I was a little disappointed because, instead of the eggs being covered with salsa, they were covered with melted cheese. Maybe they prepared this dish differently because they are from a different region in Mexico, but I didn't like it. So, I removed as much of the cheese as I could and added some red salsa. I think from now on, every time I go to a new Mexican restaurant, I will ask first how they prepare the huevos rancheros, since I like them with red sauce. Had dinner here again, seems they changed their menu, or maybe they rotate meats. No carne asada so I tried a chicharrón, chicken and barbacoa taco. As always the tortillas are the best part of this that's why they get the 3 stars. So let's start with the chicken. It was ok, it was boiled shredded chicken, which was really moist and watery and compromised the integrity of the tortilla. I also found a large bone in my chicken see picture. I ordered it with lettuce and cheese and you pay extra for cheese, but there was none on the taco. Next up we will go with the Barbacoa. This one was good, but I did notice the cilantro and onion blend was different. The onions were so giant, and not very well chopped and it made them very overpowering and a little bit unpleasant. Next up the chicharrón. Typically chicharrón is soaked in a liquid to give it flavor. This chicharrón was flavorless. Also, there was hardly any of it in the tortilla. I ordered it with guacamole on top and I did get a generous amount of guacamole however, the guacamole consisted mostly of those giant onions, which I spoke of previously I felt like I had onion tacos basically. Maybe they were just having an off day. I hope they bring back the carne asada. read more

The food here was a bit below average. I ordered the 3 item combo. ( Assada taco , crispy chicken taco and a tamale? ) The assada taco was blan with no flavor what's so ever. The tortilla literally fell apart as soon as I picked it up. The crispy chicken taco was good I guess. The homemade salsa was what gave it some flavor. And I'm guessing the green slop was the tamale???? Now this was NASTY soggy slimy pile of mush... I tossed it out. The rice was dry. The beans were kinda good. The service here sucks. They definitely prioritize the dine in customers. I literally watched them make EVERYBODYS order before even starting on mine. It took about 20 minutes before I got my Togo order. So I recommend if you're short on time to just eat there I took some pictures of the place so y'all can see the inside. The ambiance is cute kinda like a classic Mexican restaurant vibe. read more
