I got a California chicken burrito that has chicken, guacamole, potatoes, cilantro, abundant chicken, but I got it to go and it wasn't very warm and I opened it a minute later they do put a lot of chicken in their burritos price for chicken burrito with tax was $15.55. I thought it was a little bit high. You do get a little bag of chips and salsa also. Friendly environment with nice cashier clientele. read more

Was not impressed the first time we went in. The chorizo breakfast burrito was extremely salty. A week after, my husband was craving an asada burrito. We doordashed them. An Asada Classic Burrito and Carnitas Classic Burrito. They were not good at all. Poor quality and very bland. They didn't bother to send salsas or napkins. Confused how two tamales with sauce, small sour cream side (2oz.) , and small side of rice cost me $24... lots of add ons I guess? Wouldn't mind so much if the tamales weren't cold and rice wasnt hard. I love their fresh warm flour tortillas. They're like crack!! I get a dozen every week. I eat it by itself! They're that good!! Their other food is typical normal Mexican food. If you want simple but great food then look no further. This place delivers! I love how they kept it simple and not fusioned-out like what others do. Great and friendly service as well. Inside was simple but the food makes it up. So when in doubt, come to this place. read more

My family has been coming to Carrillo's for 30 years and it's been a true Simi Valley mainstay as far as I can remember. My Mom always loved getting the chili releno, cheese enchiladas and the Chicken Ensalda. As a result, she got me hooked as a child and even now as an adult it's always a blast to come here. Steve and the rest of the staff consistently provide wonderful service every time I've gone. Whether grabbing food to go or eating in, Carrillo's is a must visit for Mexican cuisine. read more

It was a post-golf morning and my boyfriend and I were craving Mexican food. We found this little spot on Yelp in Simi and they had what we were craving: burrito and pozole. The restaurant is located in the strip mall plaza behind Panera with lots of parking. We were the only customers there on a Saturday morning so it was pretty empty. I got a full order of pozole with corn tortillas and he got a chorizo breakfast burrito. We also asked for free chips and salsa as well. I was also parched and ordered a horchata. We took our order for takeout and enjoyed it at home. I felt that the horchata kinda hit the spot but felt a little watered down. The pozole also felt a little watered down too but overall it was OK and had some good meat pieces and hominy. I loved all the toppings that came with the pozole. The chips were tough so it felt hard to crunch on. I had higher hopes because the restaurant has a 4/5 star rating but maybe it didn't meet my expectation. read more

Not sure why there's a ton of 2 stars on here but I had this place yesterday for the first time in awhile and the breakfast burritos my husband and I got were HUGE and so hot and full of flavor. I wanted to have some huevos rancheros for breakfast, so we came to Carrillo's restaurant. I'm a big fan of huevos rancheros, but I was a little disappointed because, instead of the eggs being covered with salsa, they were covered with melted cheese. Maybe they prepared this dish differently because they are from a different region in Mexico, but I didn't like it. So, I removed as much of the cheese as I could and added some red salsa. I think from now on, every time I go to a new Mexican restaurant, I will ask first how they prepare the huevos rancheros, since I like them with red sauce. Had dinner here again, seems they changed their menu, or maybe they rotate meats. No carne asada so I tried a chicharrón, chicken and barbacoa taco. As always the tortillas are the best part of this that's why they get the 3 stars. So let's start with the chicken. It was ok, it was boiled shredded chicken, which was really moist and watery and compromised the integrity of the tortilla. I also found a large bone in my chicken see picture. I ordered it with lettuce and cheese and you pay extra for cheese, but there was none on the taco. Next up we will go with the Barbacoa. This one was good, but I did notice the cilantro and onion blend was different. The onions were so giant, and not very well chopped and it made them very overpowering and a little bit unpleasant. Next up the chicharrón. Typically chicharrón is soaked in a liquid to give it flavor. This chicharrón was flavorless. Also, there was hardly any of it in the tortilla. I ordered it with guacamole on top and I did get a generous amount of guacamole however, the guacamole consisted mostly of those giant onions, which I spoke of previously I felt like I had onion tacos basically. Maybe they were just having an off day. I hope they bring back the carne asada. read more

I couldn't believe the amount they give you for the price they charge for the posole. And to think that it was so hot, the lid was melting and almost burned myself. There was hardly any hominy and meat, but a lot of juice. I didn't like it. Most likely will not be ordering from here again. read more

Carrillo's has a nice authentic touch. They have a good variety of dishes. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros & it was good. Not too crazy about them, but it filled my craving. I'm not a fan of the plastic silverware & styrofoam plates. If I'm spending $15 on one meal, I would at least expect something I can't cut through. The food here was a bit below average. I ordered the 3 item combo. ( Assada taco , crispy chicken taco and a tamale? ) The assada taco was blan with no flavor what's so ever. The tortilla literally fell apart as soon as I picked it up. The crispy chicken taco was good I guess. The homemade salsa was what gave it some flavor. And I'm guessing the green slop was the tamale???? Now this was NASTY soggy slimy pile of mush... I tossed it out. The rice was dry. The beans were kinda good. The service here sucks. They definitely prioritize the dine in customers. I literally watched them make EVERYBODYS order before even starting on mine. It took about 20 minutes before I got my Togo order. This is not "Mexican Food". It's very whitewashed and bland as hell. I gave them at least 5 chances to prove me wrong but the food misses the mark completely. Huge burritos and good service! I ordered two california burritos with al pastor through the app using grub hub; however, I received a call saying they ran out so we decided on chicken and carnitas. I was able to get my refund from the extra charge for al pastor, and the employee helping was super friendly and apologized. As for the burrito itself, it was huge! It was filled with lots of meat and guacamole, which is what a lot of other california burritos give less of from other places. The carnitas was soft and flavorful, and I'm usually picky with carnitas but theirs was really good! My bf ate the chicken and he said it was juicy and would want to come again! Overall, definitely a business worth supporting especially during this pandemic. They were compliant with the rules with wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. Just a few minutes away, tucked into the corner of a shopping area next to a Target, it is easy to get to, easy to order, and available for takeout or dine-in. The menu offered several tasty-sounding vegetarian sandwiches, so I really had to spend some time deciding before I even got there. I settled on the Californian (house-marinated artichoke hearts, avocado, sun-dried tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, green leaf lettuce, herb aioli) and some kettle chips as an add-on. It does come with a small green side salad (Urbane House Side Salad), with a vinaigrette dressing. The sandwich was very tasty, with plenty of vegetables, and clearly had artichokes aplenty. I ordered with extra aioli on the side, but in the end did not need it, as the sandwich was very moist as made. (I did use it as a dip for the chips - no waste here!) Quick service, good value, tasty food, clean location - for a small chain sandwich shop, very good!

I decided on a fried ube snack and a milk tea with boba. My milk tea had a good amount of sweetness and quenched my craving for a little sweet, caffeinated beverage. The fried ube snack had only a hint of ube flavor and was freshly made to order. Everything here is priced point well, in comparison to other boba shops. Such a cute, kinda cozy local cafe shop with board games for customers and indoor seating. This cafe also sells crafts from local artists as well. Sorry I didn't take a pic of all the various items on sale here -but it's worth you coming out to check it all out. Located in a strip mall, tons of free parking. Note: air conditioning must of been broken the day I visited, as they had fans on -but it was still a bit warm inside.

It appears to be a family owned and run business - everyone was pitching in. I ordered chicken satay, pad see ew with beef, and a seafood curry. I was very impressed that they can make everything gluten-free using gluten-free soy sauce! Not only was everything absolutely delicious like it was the first time (especially the seafood curry!) but they held my leftover food for me in their fridge while we finished cleaning out a storage unit. They get five stars for having great food, gluten-free options, and going above and beyond with their customer service. Highly recommend!

We had plans to dine elsewhere and when we arrived it was a sold out event even though I was never told that when I called earlier in the week that there was going to be a different situation (that is another story for later) So here we were a party of four looking to dine somewhere locally at prime dinner hour and striking out. My wife called MB Grille as we were already heading in that direction and talked to Alice and she allowed us to put our name on the list with the intent of us arriving in 10 minutes. We did arrive on time and the place was packed, we did get seated shortly after we arrived and Riley was our server. What a friendly easy going helpful person she was, answering questions that we had and getting answers for the questions she didn't have. Very attentive checking on us numerous times. We have dined here before and the fish is always fresh and cooked to perfection, Oysters are always good and the cocktails always spot on and refreshing. Big shout out to Riley on this one, great service is just as important as delicious food. And a great hostess such as Alice keeps the incoming customers flowing and happy and feeling welcome.
