Oh, no the waiter was very kind and helpful.The chips were still we ordered a chicken toasta, a chicken, quesadilla and nachos.My toasta came out.The shell was near, burnt.Hardly anything inside of it. The quesadilla was decent, but overcooked the nachos were so overcooked that meat was dry. As a bone, there was hardly any beans or cheese on top of it didn't even come close to what the pitcher looked like at all. It was the worst food I've had in a long time. And it took almost 40 minutes to come out. What's really going on? Love the options for online ordering and pickup via their website. I had no idea that this was their second location, and growing up in Simi (and eating at most every place in town) I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that one. Super happy that I found the reviews for the location here in the town center. They were taking all of the covid precautions and even dealing with guests who did not want to wear masks. Love the commitment to safety. Also, love the food! The salsas, ands mole, were some of the best I've had in a while. Huarache Xpress is a must try! The location is very spacious, neat, and has nice lights outside. The owner is so very sweet, accommodating, and friendly. They make everything hand made and even use family recipes. I was surprised there were vegan options available and were also aware of veganism. I ordered the mushroom and potato tacos with refried beans. The tacos were delicious and so was the handmade salsa. The mushroom was particularly my favorite. It was seasoned so deliciously. The refried beans are fried with oil instead of lard which makes them vegan as long as you don't get the cheese on top. The ambiance was good, the services quite quick and attentive. I ordered a Carne asada burrito which we ate before I could even take a picture....as it was delicious. The carne asada torta was quite good as well. I was craving pupusas and that is the reason we tried this place, I'll have to try to.ordered it with easy cheese as it was quite salty, but the beans and pork in it was delicious. I bought dinner tonight 2/10/22 for my family of 5. My final bill came to $102.25 I'm am very disappointed in the outcome of the quality of what we received. My daughter and I had ala cart enchiladas, mine should have had shredded beef which there was very little and hers was just cheese and there was not much cheese inside. My son ordered the tricolor burrito with chicken and there was very little chicken and so much sauce and beans it was drowning. My father ordered a regular carnitas burrito again, with very little meat. This was our first visit to your restaurant and we were hopeful for excellent Mexican food based on the Yelp reviews. It's topped with green and red sauce, the tangy green was my favorite. Hard shelled tacos were delicious as well but eat them fast because the shells will get soft - they are only lightly fried. Shredded beef was substantial and flavorful and topped with fresh lettuce and tomato. Had a hard time finding the place because it wasn't located where google maps was pointing me to. Recently moved to Simi Valley from SF Valley where Mexican food is everywhere. First when I walked in you get that Authentic Mexican Food smell, what a delightful smell. Next, the gentleman who saw me walk in greeted me and was extremely respectful and asked how my day was. Customer service is always a huge plus. Lastly the food, I got the Enchiladas Suzias which were so good, mmm honestly so juicy and the green salsa was so good. I also got the handmade taco with carnitas which was amazing! Carnitas were good and juice. Then we tried the quesadilla comal with asada, which was my favorite, carne asada was good and the taco was mmm, mmm good. Last but not least I had to try their huarache de pastor, WOW! Had overall a bad experience. Terrible service and slow. We had a table of 6 people and they gave us a small basket of chips and Salsa. We asked for more and they ignored us. We asked again for more and they gave us the same salsa container from the previously, and only a quarter was filled with Salsa. I had the fried quesadilla and it was mediocre , also tried the pupusa revuelta and it was by far the worst pupusa ive ever had. Kind of my own fault for getting pupusas at a Mexican restaurant haha. The only good thing about this place was the salsas. I just wish they weren't so stingy with it.Lastly we had a torta to go and they forgot to put the order. Then when the torta was ready they never mentioned it and it just sat there. We had to go ask again and they said oh yeah here it is. Ordered a regular burrito, right from The start I notice that they charge a $1 up charge for carne asada. never have I seen a Mexican restaurant up charging for carne asada, the most basic meat in Mexican food. I get up charge for shrimp, but carne asada. Get home and the disappointment continues with first bite. This shit was loaded with beans and rice, couldn't taste the carne asada. Had to open it to make sure there was some carne asada, saw very little and it was shredded, who shreds carne asada. this place is as Mexican as Taco Bell. I recently came to this restaurant on Friday 15,21 in the evening for my brother and now sister in law for their reception. It took place outside and they even had a karaoke machine for us to sing and a heating thing since it was a bit cold. The food was too notch! The service they provided for us was amazing! As a nice alternative, try their pupusa which is a Traditional Salvadorian think hand made corn tortilla stuffed with a savory filling. The Cheese & Beans version is delicious. Last night I attended a business mixer and came across this wonderful restaurant that was offering samples of their food all of which did not contain pepper. The owner of the restaurant, decided that she did not want to over season things and gave the option for people to decide what they wanted to add to their meal to make it just right for them! I loved their food so much at the mixer that I ended up going there tonight for dinner. it's definitely more than a hole in the wall. They have a cute little restaurant inside seating area outside and the menu pretty simple and fabulous with plenty of photos. Tonight I enjoyed a Sope with beef, a side of Mexican rice with no pepper and a gordita with carnitas. Everything was beyond delicious. I'm definitely coming back here again and bringing friends! We waited until it opened at 3pm and I called to place an order, they didn't answer so I walked up to the restaurant. No one was there. I called again and they finally answered. The person who works the counter hadn't shown up so the cook had to tend to all. Anyway I wanted about 15 minutes for my take out order. I got the three gordita meal, chorizo, tinga, and papas. I asked if she is ready no response and she walks off to I think get paper for the receipt printer. They are so tucked away in the mall they have a sign to point you in their direction. We were driving through Simi Valley one day and needed something quick to eat. Looked in Yelp to find this place. The food was amazing!!! We ordered the carne asada street tacos, meat was well seasoned and tender. The cheese enchiladas in green sauce, my husband and I regretted not getting two orders. The sauce is delicious and we used it for the quesadilla's we ordered for the kids. Their spicy salsa has a pretty good kick. Kids menu was on point, both kids ate their full meals. Would definitely make another run out to Simi just to pick up food. It is inside the plaza so you will have to walk in they did not have curbside. read more
