We ate at the Yorktown location and the food was delicious. I had the Strawberry Fields sandwich which was on the spring menu and it was delicious! For sides we had the orzo salad and the carrot salad - both were tasty! The server was delightful and very friendly. We sat outside and she checked on us regularly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not a ton of seating but it was very nice to sit outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We shared a piece of carrot cake and it was really good as you would expect!

You never know about the quality of restaurants in tourist areas that get a lot of new visitors and not dependent on repeat business. Fortunately for those visiting Yorktown, Carrot Tree Kitchens is an outstanding option. The food is excellent and you really feel comfortable, with super-friendly service. I had the Brunswick Stew which was on the specials menu. This is apparently some specialty from area and was really good, the broth had a rich flavor with some good vegetables. Others had sandwiches and also loved them, particularly the ham and Swiss. I also had some of the hummus plate which was really tasty. Then you really need to save room for dessert. I had one of the cupcakes and it was absolutely delicious. Then people also loved the slices of cake. This is definitely worth a visit!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We revisited the carrot tree restaurant recently and again, we loved the charm of this small cozy place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got the turkey cranberry wrap again and this time I had the roast beef sandwich with horseradish dressing. Both sandwiches were excellent but, this time we thought they overdid it with the mayonnaise so it made for a very messy sandwich experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nevertheless, we will always enjoy returning here to a warm friendly place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

A delicious little sandwich shop not far from the Yorktown Museum. Free parking across the street in the little garage. We had planned on lunch at the museum cafe, but when we realized it was just prepared cold sandwiches in the case, we decided to go down the road. I had the Mason Dixon sandwich, which was warm and fabulous. They don't have a kids menu per se, but the waitress said they could make a grilled cheese which was perfect. My husband got the Strawberry Fields sandwich which is a limited time spring menu item. He loved it! The sides are unique: carrot salad, orzo salad and some other more standard fare like potato salad and cole slaw.

I have been eating at one or the other of the Carrot Tree locations for decades, and have never once been disappointed with anything they serve. Today I decided to try their Colonial Gardener; a spinach and mushroom croquette with special sauce (it's lit) on a bed of lettuce and tomato slices with some homemade pita chips and hummus, and a side of their signature carrot salad. My only regret is not leaving room for dessert. I was treating a couple of fellow museum educators, and our 3 entrees, their two soft drinks, and the 20% gratuity they included automatically because we were in a group of 8 people came to a grand total of $40 and change. Definitely worth it!

I really enjoyed my lunch at this cute little restaurant. There is indoor and outdoor patio seating depending on the weather and your preference. We were quickly greeted and chose the table we wanted. Our server was attentive and polite the entire time. The menu has a lot of options on it - enough to please several different tastes which is always something I'm looking for. We chose the hummus starter bc we were starving and needed something - it was out pretty quickly with some delicious fresh hummus and assorted fresh, crunchy veggies like cherry tomatoes, slices carrots and cucumbers, sliced red onion, lettuce, olives and delicious warm, toasted pita slices. Yum. It was a great start. Our main entrees were out pretty quickly as well. I chose the chicken salad wrap bc, I love chicken salad and love to try new takes on it. This one was pretty standard but was served as a wrap on a tomato wheat wrap with tomato, lettuce and bacon. It was really good. My date got the BBQ platter which had slaw, some fresh crunchy veggies, potato salad and a scoop of pulled pork with a bun. The potato salad, also served with mine as you got a choice of a few sides, was really fresh-made and delicious. I loved it. I also ordered one of their buttermilk biscuits for $5. There are a few options and the one I chose was served warm and toasty with turkey, brie and cranberry. It was salty and sweet and warm and delicious. Loved it! They had some fresh-made baked goodies and large cupcakes and carrot cake but I have eaten out a ton lately and decided to pass. I'm sure they were good. Next time!

This little nugget is pure gold. Such tasty homemade food and friendly staff! I had the Abe Lincoln wrap with a side of potato salad and it was seriously sooo yummy. The "zippy" sauce on it was something I could drink a gallon of! My husband had the Good Dad sandwich with a side of potato chips and it was delicious. For my kiddos we had two sides, potato salad and orzo pasta salad. Both were so yummy and the kids gobbled them down quickly. The portions were perfect and generous, and don't even get me started on the decadent cake. We had the carrot cake and chocolate cake and if I wasn't worried about gaining 1000lbs I'd have bought a whole cake of each! They had some seating indoors but we had decent weather (late December) so enjoyed a sunny outdoor table. Will definitely come here again when I'm in town.

My boys and I had visited the original Carrot Tree back in 2012, so it was really fun to take some other family to eat lunch here. They've moved into another building, but they've got the same folks working and same menu. Our lunch was just as good as it was 10 years ago- hearty sandwiches, delicious salads and terrific desserts. The carrot cake was as good as my mom's & hers is really good. Definitely a lovely lunch spot in Yorktown!

What an absolutely adorable little cafe right in the heart of Yorktown! Very quaint inside with a just a few tables and more outside. Very personable staff. They've got a good selection of yummy sandwiches, wraps, and deli style salads and some very tempting desserts. Had the turkey, melted Brie, and strawberry special on the flakiest croissant with their carrot salad. Both were excellent! Definitely plan to return to try out their other offerings!

Situated right under the York River bridge, not far from the Yorktown museum, is the cutest village. I'm sorry, they can't claim it as part of the original Yorktown but it is cute. There is a lovely river walk...hence the name of the restaurant. They have some of the BEST views in the area being right there. We had reservations however it being the busiest day for restaurants, we had to chill our heels for a few moments before being taken back. I was more than ok with this as we ended up getting a window seat (see above for reference). Thank heavens they put the name of the server in the receipt cuz y'all know my Swiss cheese brain. Cara was the wonderful server who took care of us. She was always there ready for me to get my mum good & spoiled. Super friendly and very helpful. The buffet, it was impressive for a buffet and while not a big buffet, it was specialized. First up were 3 different kinds of salads, then a fruit platter, and bagels & cream cheese. They had a raw bar with shrimp & oysters next, then breakfast stuff (eggs, potatoes bacon etc) mac & cheese, garlic mashed taters & then a carving station with turkey, ham & lamb. Finally a small but respectful dessert table. If you couldn't find something to fill you, you weren't looking. The single sour note of the buffet was the salmon and Mac & cheese. I'll know better next time. Overall the River Walk has come back with perfect timing and style. I highly recommend a visit. Parking is a pain but patience will help

When I found out they were having a set menu for Vday I called the week of and we were able to switch our reservations to Friday February 13th. I downloaded the InKiND app as well and they gave me a $50 off discount if you spend minimum $150. The open table app did have a $20 per person fee for reservations and that will be applied to the final bill. Our reservations were at 4pm and we arrived early and the parking area is ample with a parking garage and some street parking. We started walking to the restaurant at about 355pm. This time of the year seems to slower with ot being cold. Once inside we were greeted by the young ladies up front. We were offered a table or booth and we chose a table. We did sit at a table with the view of the water which was nice. Jason our server came over within seconds to pour us water and take our drink orders. We both wanted sweet tea with lemon. Since we knew ahead of time what we were ordering, we gave our appetizers orderes first. We ordered the soup of the day which was the she crab soup. It is highly recommended. We only ordered a cup and not a bowl because we were unsure of how it tasted. The Caesar salad had no anchovie flavor like we are use to and was just medicore. We ordered the meatballs which had lamb and pork in it. They were juicy, tender and just needed a little more seasoning. The Calamari was fried to perfection for me and could've used a pinch of salt. The sweet tea was everything and I would recommend it. For the main entrees, we chose the shrimp and scallop risotto and the beef braised Ragau. There were two scallops and four grilled shrimp and few asparagus with some chopped up bacon. This dish I highly recommend as well. The beef was tender, seasoned and pasta was cooked perfect. Overall, this is a nice and quiet place to dine at anytime. I would recommend and will definitely return again. Jason was on point with his promptness.

I do wish they had a little better menu selection, for being advertised and recommended to me as African, this was the only dish that was close to. i was hoping for some Doro Wat, or Moambe Chicken, Injera, Braai, Pap en Vleis, Bobotie , Chapati/Mandazi, Nyama Choma, or even some Kitfo. they had none of these things, so I ended up wanting the Ox-Tail Pasta, aka Rasta Pasta. Its only available on certain days. so I actually had to come back for this, and I did. It Was tasty 4 large pieces and 3 tail end tip pieces. It was Large enough that I can probably get 3 meals from this at my portions. Price was little more than wanted but would come back again, just not regularly. I rank my decisions to eat somewhere again as: 1 star - if someone else buys it I won't eat it, I would rather go hungry. 2 star - if I'm hungry, no other options are open and someone buys it - I would consider eating it 3 star - I'm ok with eating it as long as someone else pays 4 star - I will eat again and pay for it and be a semi-regular customer 5 star - I will travel for good food and pay good money and be back on a regular basis and maybe even pay for yours just so we can go

What better than to be surrounded by quotes and eat great food. Such a novel idea (pun intended)…read morefor a restaurant. The entire place has quotes posted all over. My obsession with quotes started in high school where I would scribble them all over my notebooks and folders. So in honor of my bday weekend, my inner teen got a gift too. Admittedly, we came here for the quotes and the apple nachos so I can't speak much to the food other than we split some fried ravioli, a rack of ribs and a side of mac & cheese that were absolutely delightful. As for those apple nachos, they almost hit the perfect mark and could've done so with a drizzle of caramel. Our waiter was eager to accommodate us and grab us some caramel, but we told him never mind just a suggestion to the Chef. The ribs were cooked perfectly fall off the bone with not too much sauce and that mac & cheese was divine. Service was on point, food delicious, and ambience - perfection.
