Best Stromboli in Columbus.. If you want great Stromboli in Columbus, go to Carsonie's because it is the best. I am writing this review because I had shared a medium Stromboli with a friend with Carsonie's signature Original Stromboli that is Stuffed with pepperoni & sausage, mozzarella & provolone cheese and served with a side of marinara dipping sauce. All that cheesy goodness. A normal Stromboli takes 30-45 minutes to prepare and bake, but it is worth the wait. Also, their pizza is that way. When you get your Stromboli, you can taste the quality they put in. It was delicious with all that cheesy goodness. We used to live down the street, and I miss the calzones something fierce. We went back about 6 months ago, and it was still just as good. I've seen some poor reviews, but every time we have been, the food has been good, and the staff attentive and nice. Not a Local. We had been working in the area and thought this sounded good. Really tight area to be seated in, tables too close. Our waitress was unprofessional in attentiveness & poorly dress unless you work at Hooters:) Seemed upset about our order, she really tried to sell the buffet in the fly infested place. I couldn't do it, sorry. Waited 35 minutes after being seated for one medium stromboli and our two cokes. Another waitress brought our food, our waitress asked as she flew by our table if we needed anything and stumbled as I asked for napkins. Seeing how I defeated two mammoth flies at our table, I couldn't help be ask for clean napkins. Really out dated place, food wasn't worth it really, shell was burnt to a crisp. Thank goodness the food was delicious, the service was horrible! I've been here several times and the Stromboli is consistently good. The restaurant ambiance is cool, tons of interesting sports memorabilia throughout. Helps keep your mind off how bad the service is, okay not really. Let's see, prices are decent and portions are okay. On this visit something was terribly wrong! There was ONE (1) waitress responsible for hostessing, bussing, and cashiering. I'm not sure if she wasn't cooking too! Absolutely nothing ran smoothly this day! My family and I had to wait a half hour after finishing our meal to get our check. The first 20 minutes waiting on the check, the next 10 waiting on the waitress to come back and bring the right check! This is the deal, if the waitress would have acknowledged, offered an apology or an explanation regarding the service, this would have made things a little better. They were decent sized and well dressed. Daughter ordered a basic cheese pizza. The slices and crust were both huge. She pretty much killed it herself. Wife ordered the lasagna. She said it was very delicious.The sauce was done right and was nice and cheesy. I had the chicken parm with spaghetti Alfredo. The chicken was perfectly tender and breaded nicely. The sauce was rich and very flavorful. The alfredo sauce was ok, A little bland, but that could be in contrast to the tomato sauce on the chicken. The staff is very polite and friendly. the location itself is comfortable with plenty of seating inside and out. I have been to Carsonies a couple of times now and I have not been disappointed once. The first occasion I was there was when a few of my friends wanted to hit up a bar before moving my friend into his apartment and the other was on a casual date with this girl I liked for my birthday. Both times I got either the Calzone or the Stromboli. I got the Original Stromboli which is pep, sausage and cheese for $10. I am a average guy and a huge eater. I was full after this portion of food. The tall beers or at least my Yeungling Brown & Tan on tap was $4.50 not to bad for a huge glass of beer. The atmosphere and ambiance was good, the only problem was that it was a little louder than I expected. For the bar experience that I had at Carsonies, was great or at least to my liking. If you want a college girl hangout spot, this is not the spot for you. The bar patrons are usually older guys that want to watch sports and hangout with the cool bartender. Stopped for dinner last night, sort of by accident because I couldn't find the the restaurant I was planning to go to. But they were doing a land-office business so I figured it couldn't be all bad. I elected to sit at the bar so as not to take up a table for just me. The guy next to me was eating a stromboli (I asked him what it was) and he raved about it. While I was waiting on mine there must have been twenty come out of the kitchen so I figured it couldn't be all bad. A stromboli is a bundle of meat and cheese rolled up in some pizza dough and baked until it rises. It's served with a small bowl of marinara sauce. And it was pretty darned good! First, I'll start with the food which was between good and very good. The prices are fair and sizes are generous. Now, let's get to some real concerns. This is 2021 and we are all struggling through COVID-related issues. The state and city have mandated social distancing and masks in restaurants and stores. Even with that, we have consistently patronized local and national restaurants while choosing to pick up or have our food delivered. I ordered pick up on 02.25.21. I was told we would have a 25 minute wait. but it clocked in at a little over 45 minutes. Aside from that, there was minimal social distancing. Not only were patrons not wearing masks (which is of course allowed when drinking or eating) but so were staff. STAFF! This not acceptable in any way, shape or form and. I am very sad to share this information as I want to support businesses locally. I will never revisit this restaurant, which I say very begrudgingly as the food is pretty good. read more

I rarely leave Yelp reviews because every restaurant can have an off night, but unfortunately I think Carsonie's is starting to die off. My wife and I would always stop and get some of their Stromboli when we were in the area, but the last couple times the food has not been as good as it used to be. First, the "Ultimate Loaded Fries" had about 20 fries laying flat on a plate that had a palmful of cheese sprinkled over it with 5 pepperoni. It was neither ultimate or loaded. For $7.99, it was pretty underwhelming. When we put in our orders, we made sure they had down what we wanted in our food as the Stromboli is made to order, and it takes ~30 minutes to cook. My order came out wrong, and since it's made from scratch you can't just get a replacement quickly. Another dish that was ordered was the Chicken Carsonie. Usually the noodles have a decent amount of sauce on them, but this time it was maybe half to a quarter of what we've had in the past. I'd been wondering about Carsonie's for awhile. My fiancee had told me that we should eat there some time and then we went there last night for dinner. From the outside, the restaurant doesn't really look like much. Just a small building in the parking lot of a strip mall. But inside, Carsonie's was filled with small knick-knacks and Ohio State things. The menu was also filled with things to order! We started with an order of their garlic bread which was very good and we received excellent service the whole time. When it came time to order entree's, my fiancee had the ravioli and I ordered the baked penne. Both items came with side salads and bread. The baked penne was great! Lived in the Westerville area for the absolute longest time and idk we never had the chance to dine here. My wife and I finally had the chance last night. We did. Not enjoy our experience last night . I ordered the Italian stallion with no banana peppers and of course it still came with it The breading was the only good thing about the sandwich but for cost of 9.99 it was definitely not worth what we paid for it. The Italian dressing was little too watered down and had a very bland taste to it. Monday's they have a hot wing special for .79 so we order 10 hot wings. The wings were overly pre blanched so however they re heated them ours came out microwave warm and very dry. No sauce btw... my wife's wedding soup was a overly beef stock and salty to the taste. I'm giving this place a five star mostly because of the patio on Wednesday nights (weather permitting) they have a singer named Bill Foley who performs from 7-9. He plays everything and does it well. Go see him, you won't be disappointed. The only bad thing is they have regulars that go see him and the restaurant reserves tons of tables for them and it's hard to get a seat. I really think it should be first come for seating because they don't reserve tables for anyone else. The singer does move to the inside once the weather changes and performs same day and hours. Not sure how they do tables inside because I'm not a big fan of the inside only because it's kinda small, loud (talking) and always busy at dinner time. However it's a good sign that the food is good. The stramboli is my favorite and its awesome here but do allow extra time because it takes about 30 minutes for it to be baked fresh for you and order the large your going to want more. I recommend ordering appetizers or a salad to help with the wait. read more

Met with some friends late at night and our server, Lisa was fantastic! The environment is a bit rundown and reminds me of a pub. They have a large outdoor patio area which is where we chose to sit because no one else was out there. I ordered the baslamic chicken salad and I added the candied walnuts from a different salad to it...it was delicious! The serving was huge and the bread that came on the side was equally as large. I had a side of marinara to dip m bread into and it had good flavor. I feel bad for only giving 2 stars because the food was actually really good. The service was absolutely HORRIBLE. I have no idea who our server was bc she never introduced herself. On the credit card receipt it said "Dawn" but anyone who has worked in food service knows that name doesn't mean it's hers. When she "greeted" us (which is a joke) she just came and said "what you want to drink." I was 1 of 4 people in my party (2 couples.) She clearly forgot to put in an appetizer order but said "it was coming". No apology, even though the other couple at my table got their appetizer in normal time. My appetizer was cheese bread. Why does that take 30 minutes to get?! She never admitted she forgot to put it in, never came back to check on us till we were almost completely done with our meal. Drink refills?? What a joke!! 10+ minutes to get a refill of WATER. I don't know what this lady's problem was with us. She was all about standing around and talking to "regular" customers. This was my first time in. This place will get my money again if i do not have to deal with this rude lady. Maybe i will only do take out. We've been getting takeout from here for years. We always get the Stromboli (it's especially good for gatherings when you have them do a party style cut). We love the traditional and the chicken. Lately we've started getting the pizza. The only negative (for my big family) is that even their large pizza is a little small, however the crust is some of the best around and the ingredients are top notch. read more
