This review is for the store located near Polaris Costco. Like an Italian grocery store there are fresh meats of all kinds (chicken was on sale today), some veggies, lots of dry goods. Check out the gluten free pasta and flours. There are cheeses and breads and pastries galore. There are cheese curds, canned fish and olive oils. Premade meals are in the cooler. Order a sandwich to go. There is a large wine selection. The set-up is nice. Employees are friendly. This is definitely a stop when in the area. read more

What a disappointment. Three of us arrived shortly before our reservation for 13 people at 6:15. I checked in with the hostess station; the woman said they were preparing our table and to have a seat at the station. Two more of our party arrived and I checked in again. This woman confirmed our reservation and said to wait there. So we waited. Around 6:30 or after, a friend who was on our reservation (for 13) called me and asked where we were. Eight people from our party had already been seated and ordered drinks and were waiting for us! They were at one table and our table right next to it was set up and waiting! So we finally sat down (no explanation or apology from the hostess) and got really poor slow service. Our waiter was nice and kept apologizing but that didn't make it any better. One excuse was that he was waiting on wine glasses. . . One guest got the wrong drink order; we had to ask for bread (when we saw the other table was getting it); when some other guys delivered the food, they didn't know who got what; one order wasn't hot; our bills were wrong; the Chicken Marsala was too salty; the pasta was overdone. I liked my food (Eggplant Parmesan) but was so miserably starving by the time it arrived that I couldn't properly enjoy it. If my friend hadn't called me, how much longer would we have been left there, forgotten and ignored at the hostess station? Unbelievable!! read more

We came here to check out the wine at their wine store. I thought we would get our son a wine membership while doing so they gave us a coupon for 10% off for the restaurant that's attached next-door. I'm assuming they're both owned by the Carfagna family I'm not 100% sold on eating at a restaurant that's inside a grocery store...and where this isn't truly inside the grocery store, it's attached to it. You can still see the grocery store a little bit from my table. I don't know what my hangup is about that, but I'm not a fan Add that their bar was having a very loud trivia contest. It just wasnt a relaxing vibe i was hoping for. In addition to all that, after being sat, it took a unreasonably long period of time for the server to approach us to even say hello let alone give us any table service including our waters Once we got the water, she offered to bring us some fresh bread that also took a little while. The bread was worth the wait. It was delicious. It comes with a soft butter. The butter was crazy good so i was getting optimistic and thinking maybe I shouldn't hold the grocery store being attached to this place against it. Now this is an Italian restaurant attached to an Italian market... And they're known for their beef so when i didnt get pasta but chose the mushroom risotto special it was kind of a gamble. I was kind of excited, although I knew this isn't exactly Italian so I was a little leery of it at the same time So so how was it??? The mushroom risotto was OK. Some of the mushrooms were way too chewy and the rice.... Well, I couldn't tell if it was fully cooked or if I was biting into excessively hard over cooked or bad mushrooms. As for the short ribs that were supposed to be the highlight of this dish, there were almost nonexistent inside it. A few bites that I did find of the short rib were delicious, but I'd say overall this dish was incredibly disappointing. Not worth the price tag. My husband had a caesar salad and grilled Italian wings. He had no complaints. The salad was delicious and also a good size. I tried one of his wings. The wings had hardly any flavor nor any kind of sauce. They just seemed like small little grilled chicken wings, completely naked with a little a teeny bit of spice on them. When we finally saw our constantly absent server, we asked for the bill. That too, took a while to get. I don't know... I wasn't really a fan of this experience. I remember going to Carfagna's kitchen not too far away when it still was around and it was great. I never had a bad meal. This is the second meal I've had here. Both meals were just OK. Everytime we are in Columbus/Westerville we eat here. It's an experience. The restaurant is also a huge Italian market like nothing I've seen before. We wanted to try this place so took wife, daughter and grand son for dinner to celebrate a high school graduation. Room was nice, seated immediately with our reservation. Meatballs and wings as an app. Meatballs were outstanding, wings just so so. Salad with house Italian was reminiscent of the old Monte Carlo which is a real tribute. Entrees were prepared properly and served timely. The Chicken ala Vodka, Manicotti, and Chicken Picatta were all hits. Although the Grandpas sausage was a bit over fennel flavored for my grandson but I still liked it. We all had dessert but by far the big hit was cantaloupe sorbet. I recommend the house Rosso wine at a very reasonable price. All in all a nice evening at a decent price. Good service too read more

My girlfriend (who is basically a model) and I decided we wanted to mangia mangia mangia some good old fashioned ristorante food. We started with the meatballs. They meat mix was a little too tight. When we make them we use 25% fat to get the good texture. They were obviously using 15% or less. The sauce was good but not as good as my girlfriend's. I had the gnocchi she had the fusilli. We made a reservation on Open table, not busy on a Saturday. We started w/ Calamari and pesto Burrata for apps.. those were enjoyable. We tried their own bottle of Pinot Grigio, it's so-so. Terrible experience here. Carfagna used to be an old-school legit Italian market & small restaurant, but they supersized a handful of years ago and the experience has declined tremendously. My experience was supposed to be a simple one. Visit the bar, order a beer to enjoy while the two pizzas I ordered were prepared for carryout, pay and leave. I'd checked out the online menu beforehand and I had a decent idea of what I wanted to order, but I asked for a print menu to look over the options again. The two menus were different. Pizzas featured online were missing from the print menu. Oh well, no biggie, I'll adjust my plans. Then the problems began . . . First, they had this horrendous, cheesy lounge musicians going on. A female singer and a guy on guitar. Think Bill Murray from SNL, but louder. I had to shout for the bartender to hear me, and I had to repeat my order four times. I wasn't ordering anything weird, just a couple of pizzas, but she had to double check that she heard me correctly no less than three times. She apologized for the loud music and it was good that she sought to be accurate, but damn! I'd spotted Calabrian chili peppers featured on a pizza or two listed on the online menu, and I asked that these be added to the two pizzas I was ordering. The response shocked me: "oh no, I don't think our chef would go for that." When I asked what they meant, the response was "the chef can be pretty difficult". This was a weeknight - they weren't enormously busy - and heck, they sell jars of these peppers in the market part of the operation, why can't they be added to a pizza? The server offered to try placing the order and if word came back from the kitchen that they refused to add the peppers, they would let me know. This is a "NEW CHEF!" who instituted a "NEW MENU!" that they've been touting all over social media lately . . . they should have kept interviewing candidates. Well, the word from the kitchen wasn't good, no peppers for me. "So I cancelled out your order, would you like some pasta instead?" was the offer from the server. No, I still wanted the two pizzas - so the ordering process started all over again. Another FOUR times virtually screaming my order to the poor server standing three feet in front of me and her double-checking for accuracy multiple times. I was ordering two pizzas straight from the menu, there was no "build-your-own" thing happening here. It shouldn't have been as difficult as it was. The food arrived in due time and it was wrong. I didn't care, I just paid and left. But here's the worst part: the pizzas were AWFUL! Nothing like what I experienced in the past. I dunno if they changed the recipe or if it was an off night or what, but the pies were dry (despite my asking for extra sauce) and the toppings sparingly applied. Cannot recommend this restaurant any more. I'll give them another go someday maybe, but damn - how do businesses go this wrong and what's up with a chef who refuses a relatively simple customer request? Really disappointed. read more

Carfagna's is one of my favorite Italian restaurants. The building houses not only the Ristorante but also a large Italian specialty grocery store and a wine and spirits outlet. The restaurant dining area is large and spacious with several areas that are more secluded. There are also also several options for private dining areas that can be reserved in advamce. There are two adjoining rooms - connected with a sliding door - that accommodate up to 20 people each. I'm part of a group of about 30 people who "dine-out" toegether once a month. Carfagna's is a favorite of the group and we usually "plan ahead" so we can reserve the two private rooms. On our most recent visit there were 30 of us and we ordered a wide varity of entrees from the menu. I usually order the lasagna but this time, I opted for the chicken parm with a side of spaghetti. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered here. My wife prefers the stromboli. Service for a large group can be "hit or miss" but our service was exceptionally good - there was a waiter/waitress for each of the two rooms and service was prompt and efficent. The meals all came out relatively fast and were all generally served at about the same time. Great food, excpetional service. read more

Decided to book Easter Brunch since many family members away for Easter. Had a party of 7. Our table was directly inside the bar area: one larger table and two smaller tables awkwardly pushed together covered with a black tablecloth. We had to secure salt and pepper from another table. The food was average at best and lukewarm. Beverages were not included in the cost of the meal. I was shocked when presented with my check for my party of four. My bill contained a surcharge for use of a credit card and a 20% service charge for party of 6, despite minimal service since buffet style brunch. When I asked what the surcharge was for I was told it was for the credit card transaction and customary in the restaurant business. This is not a customary practice for the restaurants where I dine. I thought a debit card was the same as a cash transaction. I did a quick Google search and learned debit card surcharging is not legally allowed anywhere in the United States even when a debit card is processed without a PIN. Next was the 20% service fee for a party of six. This seems high for a buffet when the server is mostly taxed with clearing dishes. While tipping is voluntary, a service charge is mandatory adding to a restaurant's revenue. Interesting distinction. The restaurant has lost me as a customer. I feel taken advantage of by paying more than the meal and service was worth. Tired of being ripped off. read more

First time to Carfagnas's Ristorante. Popped in for a snack of cocktails and calamari. The calamari was great! Dan preferred the tomato horsey dipping sauce and I preferred the sweet heat. Margarita for Dan and the seasonal Lemon Cranberry Drop for me. It was all pretty good. The island bar is quite large and is surrounded by a bit of a dining room area. The ristorante was a little quiet as we were there between meals (around 4pm), but it became quite busy by time we left. The service was attentive. Carfagna's Enoteca (wineshop) was packed with wine tastings going on. They have various happy hours and today featured several martini specials. We'll definitely be back for dinner sometime and I'll update the review. read more

I had an eight inch pepperoni pizza which was good but I have had better. Service was very good , no problems there. The restaurant was clean and had many dining areas. They do have a sur charge for credit cards. I am not a fan of that and that should be in the cost of business. We went to brunch this past Sunday and left feeling robbed. We were there right at open and despite it being cold out and our request for a booth not a table, we were put right in the middle of the room close to the door. We asked to be moved and they were not happy. There were maybe 5 other tables there at that point so strange it felt like an issue to honor our requests. The price is roughly $40 and does not include any drinks at all - even coffee. A lot of the food was cold despite us being there at the start. There is no significant meat/food selection to warrant the price - the first table was breads, cheese, salads and deli meats. The next section was breakfast food, eggs, bacon, potatoes, French toast casserole. There's an omelette station where they make mini omelettes - the size is great but my daughter in law didn't eat hers as the eggs were still runny/raw when she started to cut into it. There were two skillets with the "specials". One was cheese tortellini and the other was a dried out chicken Alfredo - again got there right at 10:30. The next table had lunch options - salmon, meatballs, sausage and peppers, lasagna, chicken parm (just the chicken) and one other thing I forgot. The next table was for "kids" and had cold pizza, Mac and cheese and chicken tenders. The last table had slices of dessert (which we all liked). In total it was just over $200 for 4 adults including tip and 2 cokes and 2 coffees. Definitely not worth the price - hoping they will continue to improve as we love a great brunch spot. read more

Our family met up at Carfagna's to celebrate our first Christmas together in 5 years. Our son was in the Navy and recently exited then came home to spend a week together. Carfagna's is the restaurant the holds a special place in our hearts as our family has shared several meals/time together. Amazing g food every single time and our service and staff were fantastic. Today we had family in town from St. Louis and after all the pictures we shared of Carfagna's to them it was finally time to have their amazing Stromboli or pizza. WRONG!!!.....We were told they no longer make the large Stromboli because the "new crust" they use doesn't agree, so we get the pizza. A thin crust pizza arrives and it literally looks like shit, the once great sausage chunks are now ground beef like pebbles. The crust was literally like rubber and you couldn't cut a piece free, so the waitress took it back and suggested the "new thick crust" Look at this pathetic $20 mess, a loaf of bread with 16 total pepperoni, we all remember the Carfagna's prior to this current disaster the pepperoni were pouring over the edge. So I was sitting there in disbelief, disappointment and disgust. They have a grocery, liquor store and restaurant and are not hurting financially so why are they putting out cheap crap for food. They are really that cheap that they changed all their pizza crusts to nonfunctional shit, they now charge $20 for 16 pepperoni on a loaf of bread. We drove over an hour to go eat here bc a friend had said it was delicious. The food did look good from photos,but we wouldn't know what it tasted like. We sat at the bar. They had 2 people serving the bar. We waited about 10 minutes to finally be asked if we wanted something to drink,never gave us menus,the guy sitting beside us gave us his. The bartender walked by us,never asked if we wanted to order,and I tried to get her attention to order,but nope just kept walking. Another couple came in and sat down beside us,get a drink,no menus and she said did u want to place a food order? Then the ladies on down from us was complaining because they kept piling up dirty dishes beside her while she was eating. I finally waved her down to get our bill and she said oh did u want another drink? I said no but we would have liked to order food but we have sat here for 40 minutes and you never came back. She said we are doing our best here,and I haven't been here for a couple days. Everyone at the bar had to keep asking for another drink,the bill,a box and etc. She was literally ignoring everyone. I can't remember her name but she had long hair and it was braided or in dreads. Service sucked and she could careless. And the other bartender never did come around. Once she came to our table, her attitude was like she was extremely bothered on taking our orders. She tried to cut us off when we were trying to place our order. She never came to check in on us. She went to different tables around us, but pretended our table did not exist. She was extremely uninterested and bothered in waiting on our table. Extremely rude. For the food, we ordered, wings, calamari , Spicy Creamy Chicken Rigatelli, Chicken Creamy Pesto, and Pasta al Vodka. Everything lacked flavor. If I went to the grocery store and bought canned or frozen food, it probably would have tasted better. read more

Where do I even start...so many great things about this gem! If you want authentic Italian ingredients definitely take a trip to the market. I love picking up desserts or pasta salad, but they have a huge selection of fresh pasta and take and bake meals as well. Cookie trays are available for your parties and their meat counter is amazing. Get a slice of pizza here if you need something post wine tasting! Items can be a little bit pricey, but to be expected for authentic and homemade options. If you want to dine at the restaurant I definitely recommend making a reservation and bringing cash. They do charge a credit card fee, which is a surprise to some. Their Stromboli is my favorite and extremely filing. But you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Don't pass on their cocktails either, the Negroni is phenomenal. The wine bar and liquor store are my personal favorites. You can't beat being a part of their wine club. It comes with two 2-person tastings per month and two bottles of wine. I love that I can find the bottles elsewhere if I really love them or can make a note to visit the winery when traveling. Other wine clubs don't necessarily source their bottles from various wineries across the globe. I really enjoy the spotlight flights which tend to focus on one specific winery or region each month. The liquor store also has a great selection of whiskey, bourbon, tequila, etc! Whatever you need, you can find it here! Keep an eye out for local companies sampling their products in here. read more

We found a parking spot and went inside to grab a late lunch and the lobby was packed. We made our way to the hostess stand and was added to the wait list which took about 30 mins. Ambiance - I would describe the ambiance as it had that romantic Italian vibe but came across like a Cheesecake Factory meets Olive Garden but classier. The Inside was crowded and packed. Service - Dani provided great service through the meal, and was kind, and engaging. Reception could be a little more friendly but it was super busy. Food - We started with table bread and an order of the Fried Calamari with breaded broccoli and red peppers. I ordered the Carfagna's Pasta Combination. It had lasagna, meat ravioli, cheese manicotti, and gnocchi ($19.95 +$2 sauce upgrade). I split the sauces and had the half the traditional marinara and our server recommended the spicy-creamy pomodoro sauce. Next time, going all special sauce! It was great! My partner ordered the Baked Ziti Carfagna ($17.95). It was fresh rigatelli with ricotta & mozzarella baked in their homemade meat sauce. Definitely recommend grabbing a bite to eat here. read more

I used to go to the old location on Polaris. Haven't been there since they moved. Not busy on fathers day. Server nice - slow. I mean he was in no hurry. Food boring/bland tasting. I ordered spicy creamy chicken. Not really much flavor. Not enough sauce. Not spicy at all. I had to find my sever and ask for some salt and pepper. Kind of helped a little. Also why do I have to beg for some parmesan cheese. Even Olive Garden offers parmesan cheese. The prices are to high for what you get. First time visit for Easter brunch with my family. Very disappointed with the quality of the food selection. I expected better. Food very bland and only lukewarm. Some of the offerings on the buffet did not look appetizing. Dessert selection, although limited was better than the food. Price point for buffet was inconsistent with online advertisement, I believe the price was probably higher due to it being Easter. When I received the bill, it was increasing inflated by hidden fees, a whopping 20% service charge and a credit card surcharge with no previous disclosure. A buffet with very little service as we received in no way warrants this type of extra charge. In my opinion this fee is akin to a scam. I infrequently Shop at the market and will continue to do so, but will pass on the restaurant in the future. read more

First time visiting. Service was wonderful. Had heard good things about this place & we were not dissapointed. Manicotti was superb, and I had a Shrimp/Mussel soup that was amazingly good. (I still can't figure out how they got that much garlic into a soup, but it was amazingly good) Finished off the meal with a nice Tiramisu and a perfect Cappucino.
