My 1 1/2 year-old car was backed into by my good friend's daughter, causing a few damages: a bent hood, some scrapes on the fender, and a broken plastic bumper part. After getting three estimates, I chose Carstar NW Collision Center due to their friendly staff, positive reviews, and the lowest bid. Their facility wasn't fancy, but they had the necessary equipment for the job. The original estimate was $3,500, the mylar was included in this estimate for $800. However, once work began, I received a new estimate of $7,500, with an email noting additional mylar and calibration needed to be completed, without specifying the increased price. The final invoice came to over $9,000. This is not through insurance, it's out of pocket. I discussed the invoice with the lead and she helped reduce the cost, explaining that the estimator was new and that the mylar ended up costing about $1,200. They managed to lower the final amount to around $8,500. After paying and retrieving my car, which had been in the shop for about a month, I noticed some issues. As I drove away, all four tire pressure lights came on. After stopping to inflate the tires, one dropped from 35 psi to 11 on the freeway. I had to get a new tire for $200 at Discount Tire. I'm unsure if this issue arose at Carstar, but my tires were fine when I dropped off the car. Although I received numerous feedback forms from Carstar, I never did hear back from anyone after I submitted my feedback. The "bent" part of the hood was still noticeable, so I texted Carstar, and they asked me to bring it back. When I did, she found leftover residue that was easily removed. I also brought up the fact the bumper piece had a greenish tone rather than black. The employee contacted the parts dealer, who said, "This is the only color this part comes in." The following Saturday I drove to the dealer myself, where the parts guy agreed the color wasn't right and said he would contact the manufacturer. While I appreciated the friendly staff and some text updates, I'm struggling with: An estimate that more than doubled Being a test case for a new estimator Receiving the car with noticeable issues (residual glue and a mismatched part) that weren't checked before installation/final inspection The inconvenience of having to drive 30 minutes to the dealer to address the bumper issue The unexpected expense and hassle of replacing a tire Update: I picked up my car today. The bumper is now the same color as the rest of my car. Yay! It's too bad I had to be involved in this though. It took way too much of my time and energy. I hope Carstar NW Collision Center can address these concerns promptly and improve their processes to ensure better experiences for future customers. read more

This place gets an A+ I brought in my car to repair a scraped up bumper and quarter panel through USAA and everyone there was friendly, professional and extremely talented. My car came out looking as good as new and it wasn't an easy type of paint to match since the color coat was a two-step process. They clearly communicated everything that needed to be done and in the end, I left feeling very good about the whole experience. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. 3 strikes...your out!! We brought our 22' Chevy Tahoe into Carstar in Kirkland, as they came recommend to us by our Geico insurance company to fix our back end after a rear end accident. Unfortunately even after having our vehicle for just over a month with 3 separate times having to be back in your shop to fix issues that were either not addressed, skipped or made entirely by your shop. We now have to have our family vehicle back into the shop for a 4th time to yet again fix issues made from your shop but worse part is...now we have 2 separate paint colors on our brand new SUV! We have been lied to multiple times by not only David the manager but some of the office staff covering for David. David even hid in his office and had employees tell us he was still out on an errand when we very distinctly watched him return from said errand, walk inside while holding the materials from this errand. The level of unprofessionalism is not only saddening but also very telling of the company and employees in whole who run this office. We will never bring any of our vehicles back to this shop or any Carstar going forward. We have full documentation with voicemails, pictures and videos from start to finish to show the stages in which we received our vehicle back each time with a "seal of approval" from David. It's unfortunate this has happened as this not only messed with us financially with the back and forth, but also with work and our children's school events having to be missed do to having to drop off and pick up our vehicle as many times as we did and unfortunately have to yet again. We even took our vehicle into the Chevy dealership in Kirkland to be looked over after we picked up our vehicle for the second time with more issues and told by David "All new vehicles come with dimples"... the Chevy dealership in Kirkland did not agree to this statement and after looking at many 22' & 23' vehicles on the lot...not a single new vehicle came with the dimples. I highly recommend looking into a different company than this one, or at least a different location!! read more

Came here for some body work literally today. And I was so satisfied I had to immediately make a review. I showed up to the appointment and they were very polite and quick with inspecting the car and given estimates. Also handled scheduling a rental car for me when my appointment was made for the fix and repair. They have to schedule out a bit, but here in the PNW the roads are always wet and small accidents happen. Really awesome team at this location! I cannot wait till I drop off my car for the fix in 6 weeks. read more

In the wake of all these other reviews, I feel like I'm kind of superfluous here, but I still must share my satisfaction. I've owned (and sometimes pranged) cars for over 35 years, so I've seen my share of body shops. Some bad, most OK, but Evergreen Auto Rebuild is simply the best I've ever seen for two reasons: 1) Simply put, they do good work. We've had them fix body damage on two of our Mazdas, and they really do make your car 'look like it never happened'. 2) Lots of shops do great work, but EAR and it's owner, Don Whitcher, go over the top with their honesty, integrity, and their passion for putting the customer and their needs first. Don talks to you to make sure he is clear on what your needs are. He won't 'gold plate' a job just to pad his bottom line, and he will make sure you always get the very best value for money. We come all the way from West Seattle to have EAR fix our cars. We think Don's outfit is worth the trip, and I bet you will too! read more

I recently dropped my car of here for a scrape and minor dent repair and it was returned to me beautifully!! A gentleman named JD worked on my car and went above and beyond to clean my car up!! I had some yucky dog drool and dirt that was all over the inside and outside of my driver side rear door and let me tell you, this guy worked so hard to get it cleaned up as best as he could for me!! I'm so thankful for these guys. They even stayed open a little longer than closing time so that I could pickup my car! Definitely recommend this place to anybody that needs to get work done! I got rear ended enough that my car needed a little work. My insurance company (State Farm) gave me a list of preferred auto repair facilities in my local area. I chose Carstar based on the their quality ratings (compared to others) on yelp and google. I was not disappointed. They communicated well got the work done and made what's certainly an inconvenience (having to take your car in for body repair) as convenient as it can realistically be. I would absolutely recommend them and return here. They were good partners who were easy to do business with. read more

Someone backed into my headlight and I needed it replaced. The bumper was damaged as well. I went through my insurance and they recommended Carstar. Nice enough at the meeting to discuss it, so I said yes. They not only did a great job with a smile, when I found a tiny little spot on the newly painted bumper, they had not problem taking care of it. They could have argued as the spot was so small only I could see it, but they didn't. They told me it would take about a half hour and 20 minutes later it was fixed and good as new. That means 2 trips to the location and I had a fantastic experience with both. Excellent customer service and I high quality of work. I hope I never need to see them again, but if I don't need body work, these are folks I am taking of my cars. Thank you for the help Carstar. read more

Somewhat rude estimate experience my wife had to go through, then never got the estimate they said they would email. After about 3 weeks I called and was told they would get right on it. Expected that would happen, but no. I understand that they must be busy but feel like they don't even want my business. Now I have to start the whole process over. Not very often that you get to write something positive about a body shop, but this place rocks on both in terms of "makes you feel like they are honest" and the "holy shit, what is this 'customer service' thing that you are doing?" Let's start with the honesty part: On the one hand, auto repairs are expensive, and the shops have to stay in business. So it's entirely reasonable to expect that they will charge a fair rate, and mark up a bit on the parts. But when you walk in holding 2 other quotes in your back pocket with different prices for "parts", it's a little surprising when this guy punches the speaker phone, calls the dealership, and writes down - while you listen - the cost for the parts needed, and that's what he's charging. His hourly was a little bit more, but the by-the-book numbers were the same, and the overall cost was lower than every other quote. In fact, another guy at a different place marked up the parts by 250%!!!!! Then there was the service part - so - My suburban had a "roof rack incident" which left the rack partially ripped off and bent all to crap. The quote comes in about 2 grand....and it's XMAS time so this is gonna have to wait. With nothing more than the quote, this guy offers to take the truck back and have his guys remove the ruined rack, and tape up the holes, so it doesn't scratch the roof or cause more damage. Took maybe 40 minutes...but he earned A LOT of points with the service. read more

Don actually drove to the car rental office to pick up my car since I had my baby with me and found it to be impossible to leave my child alone while I drove the car over to his shop. He did the work in the amount of time he said it would take and offered a warranty on their work that can't be beat. He even called the rental place to have them pick up the car since I was with my child when I went to pick up my like new car. Nice person to work with, honest, kind and talented. They did a great job on my Kia Sportage. A collision with an air tank, the tank did not move my bumper, radiator and compressor did. The repair is like new perfect and the customer service was great. The one star less than five is the the almost two weeks it took for the repair. I had an insurance car rental so not a major problem. Because it was insurance paid I did not did not get bids so do not know how their prices compare with others. I would allow them to repair my car again, and with me there is always again. My dad had a collision shop and I think that I just like keeping the body and fender businesses in business. Glenda is great and it was fun watching my husband and her get the costs explained and correct to the penny. I would go here again. read more

I had some pretty bad body damage on the rear end on both sides of my car. I took the plunge to get it done before trading my vehicle in. They were very honest about price, timing and communication. JD called me 1-2 times a week. It was a big job so it ended up taking 2 1/2 weeks but they were communicating with me about if it ever needed to be extended. Which it actually ended being the correct date they gave me on the estimate when they first stated working on the car. Also, JD's memory is amazing he knew who I was dropping off my car and picking up my car without saying anything. Very happy! read more

Super pleased with the service at Evergreen and repair job on my Audi. Glenda and team did an awesome job making the ding go away and look like it was never there. They even covered the higher cost of the emblems since they went up from original quote and replaced one of my lights for free. Cost and time for repair were great - I had to get several quotes for the parking lot that was paying for repair and Evergreen came in the lowest. The 3M water based based paints that have become the mainstay of the europeans over the years are available right here....but DONT WORRY. Seattle Rain is no match. What you end up with is a thin base coat of waterbase, with thick coats of the real clear cloat we all know and love. Polish to your hearts content. Don is also a proud dad of a US Vet who just returned from service in the dirt....and is heading to Ohio to get a great education. CANT RECCOMMEND ENOUGH! I had an accident involving some ice up at the pass which left my tailgate and rear fender in pretty bad shape. Service: Incredibly courteous and friendly shop! It only took them 5 days to repair, even offered me a ride to and from their shop. I received calls from them a couple times with updates and an accurate pick up time. Not only that, but they pretty much detailed my truck. The interior alone blew my mind, 10 fold better than when I bought the truck 3 years ago. Insurance: They worked with Geico with no issues. All I had to do was visit the Geico claims guy for the initial cost analysis and take the print to the shop. Even when they found hidden damage they took care of everything on the insurance end, notified me too of course. Repair: Incredible. Better than new really. The paint is matched so perfectly there is absolutely no difference between it and the original paint. They replaced the entire fender and re-painted the tailgate. I honestly can't stress enough how perfect it looks. I highly recommend this shop, do yourself a favor and take your damaged vehicle to these guys. read more

I've taken my car to this place as my insurance recommended. Receptionists were great but not the actual repair. 1. They ripped painted over the original VIN sticker on the door panel for no good reason 2. Rough finishing, required multiple visits to make them right, still not 100%. 3. Door handle was not re-attached properly, screw needed to be fastened from inside, which never happened resulting in a loose door handle (confirmed at the dealership) I would NEVER EVER take my car to this place again. read more

So, I just called to get a basic estimate to help me compare costs, and it did not go well. I started by outlining the damage and asked for his thoughts. He got short with me and told me he couldn't possibly provide any estimate. I emphasized I knew this would be rough and very much subject to change because he didn't have the car in person. He was silent. I changed gears to talk timeline, asking when he thought I could get in. He stated it was two weeks out, and I replied that unfortunately that would not work for me. He hung up. No goodbye, no nothing. Let me be clear, I was on the phone less than 3 minutes and made to feel like I was a waste of his time. If this is how they treat potential customers who have been referred by insurance companies, I can't imagine ever taking my car there. I would never came here if I knew he was like this before. When I first went here, he said I need a new bumper and was very nice. I was also concerned about the mechanical aspect of my car. Only reason I had my car fixed here is b/c I thought he was a someone who would fight in my corner with the insurance company. He did not. It seemed that he only cared how he will get paid. I did not get a new bumper like he said I would and he did not care about the mechanical aspect of my car. And I asked him many times to check if anything else is wrong. I really don't know how this place has good reviews when i have never got estimate. I went there because of the accident. When i first went there July 19th, they said they don't have anyone to help me that day. I made an appointment for the next Tuesday on 7/26/2016. The person there took bunch of pictures and look at the car and promised me to email my estimate. Wed..thursday and finally i called them back on Friday. The person who answered said she will "email"my estimate again. I told her i have an air bag error message from an accident. She seemed bothered when i asked for my estimate when i made an appointment and went back there to get estimate. I wasted almost two weeks to just hear from them. I have to take care of the car As soon as possible. Still did not hear anything from them and no estimate neither. The only reason why i wanted to go with them was because they were on the statefarm list. But so far the experience with them was not good at all. read more

Don had my car fixed multiple times (I was a magnet for other cars hitting me), and everytime I left the body shop, I was extremely satisfied!
