I recently had surgery on my foot and am unable to wash my hair in the shower since I can't stand on both feet. While recovering at my parents house in Tustin (I live in corona) I called and got a same day appointment for a wash and braids with Annette. It felt great to get my hair washed and styled instead of struggling to get it washed in the sink at home. I saw her a second time for a wash and blow out. I was very grateful for her service and availability. I would return if I lived closer, but would recommend this salon, and Annette to anyone looking for a stylist in the area. read more

Wow I am so so grateful for the Cartel Salon experience I had, and am so blown away by their stylists and their receptionist that I had to write a review! I came in with a bad hair emergency from a different salon (see picture below) and Cartel was so understanding and helped me through the day. Special shout out to the receptionist for calming me down because I was in tears when I called to see if Cartel had an opening! I had gone to 3 other salons that day for consults to see what they recommended to fix my hair, but they didn't give me a good feeling, or they had weird solutions to fix the hair dye job. Mary sat me down and talked me through her plan to fix it, and I instantly knew I was in great hands. She did amazing work and I'm still in disbelief of how much better it looks. I got a botched haircut and when asked for a refund the 17th of APRIL it wasn't till countless of calls and messages from me trying to contact Jermey did he just say I was refusing a refund when it was never mentioned on MAY 4th. This place is great ! I don't have a regular stylist however every time I come here I walk out happy. Currently I have been going to Dania, I like that she's gentle on your hair and won't do anything that your hair cannot handle as far as bleaching goes. I've had a Terrible bleaching experience and definitely get nervous... but was very happy with out come hair actually turned out lighter than I had expected. I have been coming here for about 3 years now and honestly it is the best salon I have ever been to. The biggest reason is the staff. Brittany D. Is the one who first worked with me. She took my naturally dark boring brown hair to platinum blonde, dirty blonde, Auburn, red, and now fire ombré fantasy hair. she is just incredible at what she does and coming here is a genuine treat. She cares about me genuinely and I look forward to my sessions. When Brittany went on maternity leave I saw Kanesia and she was equally amazing. She was able to look at what has been done before and color my hair beautifully. She even gave me some of the best curls I've ever had and was willing to teach me how to curl my hair and explain what she was doing abt why. She had been wanting to grow out her silver hair and the process has been long and left her feeling unhappy with the *transition phase* Jocelyn examined my moms hair and gave us a very reasonable quote on timing, pricing, and end result expectations. Throughout the process she was professional, courteous, and charming... most importantly, she took her time and made sure to do the job RIGHT. Where to begin ... by the grace of God a year ago (just celebrated my one year) I found Christy's work while scrolling and diligently scouring each and every post from Cartel's Instagram. My mother made it clear I would only be allowed to dye my virgin hair with someone skilled from here so I had to decide which color artist it'd be. I adored her fantasy colors from the start so I knew it had to be her! I made an appointment and she talked me through everything that would happen due to my fear of bleaching my long virgin dark brown hair to blonde for a pink balayage and then eventually full blonde head!! I've been in love with my hair ever since our first day and I've not only gained a color stylist for life but also a close friend I highly recommend Christy for all blonde and fantasy color needs!!! I didn't have the greatest experience here. My review is only for styling but I wanted to share my experience in case anyone else was considering coming to this salon for a style or just about anything. I called a few days prior to make my appointment. I wanted to get my hair styled for my engagement shoot. She first told me it would be $30 for wash, dry and style. She put me on hold and I was ready to make my appointment because for wash, dry and style, $30 is a great deal! As I was booking it, she tells me it would actually be $40. Umm that's a huge difference. When I asked her why she first told me $30, she said she wasn't sure. Well, if you aren't sure, don't quote someone a price! I then told her that I would come with my hair washed and dried and she said that would be $20. I told her that I have long, thick Indian hair and she still said it would be $20. I still thought that was pretty good so I proceeded to book my appointment. My experience with my hair stylist was good, she was sweet and my hair looked great, however, she set a timer and as soon as the timer went off she stopped touching my hair. I am not sure if this is normal but I have never ever experienced this. The lady who actually colors my hair NEVER puts a timer on and she goes above and beyond even it takes her 6-7 hours. I found this very odd and a bit rude. When I went to check out, the receptionist said I owed $35. That was a huge shock because the lady over the phone had said $20. When I confronted this girl, she said that it depends on hair length and I told her that I had mentioned to the girl on the phone how my hair was and she still said it would be $20. She also said the hair stylist probably determined it was more work which was very weird to me because the hair stylist had already made my ticket even before I arrived because my ticket was already at the first desk when I was finished. Not once did the hair stylist leave my side when doing my hair so she could not have made the ticket while doing my hair. I was very pissed that I had to pay an extra $15. It's still not bad, especially with the amount of hair I have, but it's about principal and the salon being dishonest about many things. The salon itself is not attractive and I am not a fan of how the chairs are placed in a circle. I am not going back here and my recommendation is to ask a few times how much your hair will be because they will change the price on you. read more

I had gone there once for a haircut and it was OK. can't remember the girls name. Then after they charged me almost $60 for a hair cut, the front desk girl tells me something about bringing my kids. I get it. It's a hair salon but my kids weren't being destructive. THENNNNNN. I got my hair done by Amanda, sweet and seemed to know what she was talking about but nope! My hair got chopped bad by her. When she fixed it there, looked ok. But when I washed it it was choppy and with 0 shape. I will attach a pic. I text her to let her know I didn't like it and she said she didn't do a "real" hair cut. Yet she charged me for one. Then I grew it out a bit and wanted to come for a trim and she couldn't get me in and didn't accommodate me or never got back to me. This was in MAY. 5 months later and I'm still struggling with this awful hair cut. I have grown it but if I cut it shorter it would have to be under my ear. I wouldn't go with her again. And if you get a hair cut with her BEWARE! read more

I needed a touch up on my roots. I have a nice very light blond for my front bangs and some in the front. Thought hey...I'll just find a salon near me since my other hair stylist is super booked. I'll chose a place that has great reviews and a lot of stars so I found this place. What can go wrong right? Smh.... First I came in and got greeted and then I waited till a lady came and introduced herself (I forgot her name!!) And brought me to her station. Didn't have a welcoming feeling with her. Should of saw that as my first red flag. Then she was asking me what I wanted to do with my hair, and I said a root touch up. She seemed kind of confused so I had to explain it to her. Other places when they do my roots, they spilt my hair with foil and put cotton between my hair so the bleach doesn't touch my black hair. This lady did not do that. I didn't have to go under the heat thing either. Just sat around for 10-15min then she washed my hair....omg... It was so yellow at my roots. She was just going to let me leave like that! I was so bothered so I told her she has to do somethibg like tone my hair because it's way too yellow. I honestly don't think she know what she was doing. When you touch up roots of course you have to tone it! She layed me back at the sink and decided to bleach it again, after that I was like..it's still really yellow...and to tone it.. oh by the way..when she bleach my hair again, she did not divide it again! Any ways after the tone it looked better but still I knew she did a bad job. She really didn't know what she was doing....so I went home to take another look..so my hair style is..half my bangs are blond and the other half is black...well not half my bangs is blond/yellow with the other half black but with bleached roots lol. She totally messed up my hair. This salon felt like...it's one of those beauty school where students that are learning about hair cuts and coloring...that are doing your hair. For my dark haired curly girls: I've been trying to figure out how to write this review since July 2018. I had come to this salon twice before for just simple trim and cut and had no issues. On my third time, I asked my stylist for a balayage. I had virgin dark brown curly hair. I was assured by the front desk that this particular stylist (who i had already seen twice) was one of their best colorists. I don't know if she had a bad day or over booked herself but what I left with that day was a disaster. I came in with a reference photo (attached) and asked for a very subtle balayage color. My appointment was at 10am, she showed up at 11. Once she arrived I informed her that i had to leave by 5. She assured me that i would be out the door before 3:30. She started putting foils in my hair at 11:45am. She did not take them out until about 2:45pm. Having never had a balayage or anything done to my hair I had no idea how long it was supposed to take. But it felt like it was too long. I don't know if she had other clients but something felt wrong. I knew the second she started rinsing my hair that she had messed up and over processed it. I don't even know how to explain the panic I began to feel. By the time all the foils we're out and she started to wash it it was 3:40. Parts of my hair had been bleaching for over 3 hours. She assured me that the toner would fix it all but considering my hair was already dark, I don't understand why she need to bleach it and then darken it. She was left me in the sink with the toner for about 30 min. When she came back I saw that it was still too blonde so she put more toner and left me for another 30. I reminded her that i had to leave at 5. She eventually came back and rinsed me out. She told me I would have to come back next week for the hair cut since I had to leave. I left with wet hair so it was hard to tell how bad it was. (See photo for what it looked like dry the next day) When I realized how terrible it was I text her to try and get an earlier appointment. She was able to fit me in a few days later. She was able to finish the cut. I thought that since she had cut my hair twice before that this time would come out fine. It didn't. It was awful. The layers were choppy and looked like a staircase going up the side of my head. All in all I spent about $300 for a hack job. Another $100 at a different salon to try and fix it the next month, and here I am 7 months later having spent an additional $200 at various salons trying to cut off all the dead hair she left me with. My hair was straw. And most of it still is. It completely changed my curl pattern. I still get frustrated thinking about this. Since July I've cut off about 10 inches trying to remedy it and get my hair back. Needless to say I will not be returning here and if you have curly/ dark hair I strongly suggest vetting your colorist to make sure they actually know what they are doing. read more

Amanda seemed to be real nice and professional but turned out to be so unprofessional/rude. It took me about 2 yrs to write this review but it's still upsetting to think about how she pulled my hair with the brush after i came in the second time to get a toner done because my hair looked green after the first time i left. She also blow dried my hair after and basically pulled it and threw it all over my face as if she was upset with me because she had to redo my hair. No one has ever treated me that way!! The first time I went in she was nice did my hair and while she was washing it she got a phone call told me she had to leave. She finished washing it out then told me if it was ok if she left it wet because she had to go meet her husband for something about church or a baptism and the kids not really sure. Once she brushed it out she took off i went home with my hair up tried to understand because i have kids. Now that I think about it even then she knew my hair had shades of green when i wanted a balayage. I'm not speaking for the other stylist they might be good and very talented unlike her. I seen her IG page and her work seemed good thats why i went to her but even after the second time I wasn't very happy. I paid what i paid which was too much for something I hated. I wouldn't go back because of her. It's not right that she threw a fit because the customer (me)was unhappy! I've had better work at cheaper places. TWO YEARS LATER I had to leave a review because I haven't been treated the same anywhere else. Usually I would of asked to stop and left instead I let her finish and left without causing a scene. After many hour of the blonde hair specialist instagram research I did I made the decision to go to Jenna.
