I purchased a used car from Carvana in summer 2021. I think I've calmed down enough to write this review now. Browsing for a car online, making the purchase using my own bank for financing, transfer of title, transfer of plates from my previous car, even a warrany claim for a new battery using Carvana's warranty service - all of these things went extremely smoothly and deserve more stars than this overall review. I'm also happy with the car, after a year owning it. However, delivery of the car to me was so catastrophically bad that this one garbage star is all Carvana deserves. My delivery date was initially quoted as 4 days after the purchase. At that point, Carvana had already received a $29,000 check from my bank in the mail. I finally got the car 44 days after the purchase. While I waited, delivery was rescheduled at least 7 times - enough that I lost count and it might have been 8. I called every time to get an answer about what was going on. There was a lot of waiting on hold, but I usually got through to a person and they were usually friendly. But they universally had no idea what was going on with my car. One guy told me that the car kept getting routed back and forth between Indiana and New Jersey. I live in Illinois. It doesnt really matter if Carvana was outsourcing delivery to incompetent delivery services. That makes Carvana incompetent. At one point, a customer service agent actually suggested that I just give up and cancel my purchase. That is when I flipped out on them, because due to 2021 supply chain problems and computer chip shortages (affecting new car purchases, driving up used car prices) etc., the used car I bought had gone up in value over the course of several weeks. I could literally see the increased sticker price on Carvana's website, since my car still showed up in searches (as Purchase Pending). Did Carvana's algorithms decide to jerk me around and see if I would give up, so they could sell my car to someone else for more money? Maybe! I suggested that to the guy on the phone and he got pretty defensive. It was also at that point (around the 6th delay) that they agreed to give me a credit for the inconvenience. In conclusion, I am actually happy with most aspects of dealing with Carvana. I had no problem with title delivery, which many other buyers in Illinois have apparently had. But delivery of the car was a horrible, horrible, experience. read more

I give Carvana 0 stars they've sold me a lemon. They refused to sell me a warranty during purchase and the engine went out within a couple of months of purchase. It hasn't even been a year. They sold me a faulty vehicle and are refusing to trade it for a working one. Their customer service was horrible and I don't recommend you buying any vehicles from them. Great employees! But the whole process is way worse than going to a dealership, and I hate dealerships. Carvana is great in theory and terrible in practice. I bought a high end car. Over a month of delays, terrible web service, car arrived with damage. My online Carvana "dashboard" still not updated on the site enabling me to proceed with any help in fixing the vehicle and now past the 7 day delivery and it still has it was delivered over month ago, when the first delays were happening. Title and delivery delays are probably used to rig their investor metrics or could be just total mismanagement. I have called many times and super nice, patient, considerate and knowing employees try to help and assure me it will updated/fixed etc etc and Im sure they try but its probably crazy software, short staffing issues or worse. But still nothing. I have already wasted more time and effort than the repair will probably cost. Looks like their delivery trucks may be too narrow and scrape up the front bumpers of cars badly if not loaded just right. Very clunky website "support" (all computer-generated, not live people) I wanted to pay cash using my business checking acct. That was WAY too much for this company to handle. Took 6 or 7 tries to upload docs. Terrible auto response that just looped me back to the same bot-run "support". A human did contact me and was not up to speed on the purchase. Lots of email reminders to upload or update when in fact it had already been done. Got a decent price on the 2020 Toyota. Would have been nice to know that the former owner was a smoker. Very clean. No matter how many chemicals Carvana used in cleaning the vehicle, the odor of smoke still can be detected. BUYER BEWARE: Go to a real dealership and then all the irregularities like paying from a commercial checking acct. can be confirmed and understood in seconds, rather than days. Sold our 2014 Jeep Latitude to Carvana and I was amazed at how simple the process actually was. It literally took only a few minutes to answer questions and provide pictures, etc. We received a very fair offer in minutes that exceeded Kelly Blue Book, CarGurus and a couple of other dealerships as well. Carvana scheduled a pick-up up date and t e, and sent a reminder message confirming our appointment. The Carvana representative arrived on time, thoroughly checked out the vehicle, had me sign papers (power of attorney) , I provided them the vehicle title and they presented me with a preprinted check for the amount we agreed upon. The representative was very professional, answered any questions that I had, and thanked me at the end. The entire process took maybe 20 minutes. I would highly recommend you consider Carvana if you're looking to sell your gently used vehicle without the hassle of trying to negotiate. Carvana definitely exceeded my expectations. read more

Although Carvana does sell quality vehicles, the amount of hoops you must jump through in order to navigate their system are simply too onerous! Our delivery date was rescheduled 3 times and each new delivery date required updated documentation. The burden of producing the updated docs is placed upon the customer rather than Carvana making the adjustments. I gave Carvana just two stars because of their less than efficient delivery system and the additional burdens placed upon the consumer to continually update the required documentation. Besides that, I'm sick of hearing the same old song about incompetent and poor service being the fault of the "COVID PANDEMIC"! In the end we did get a great SUV. We had previously bought and traded in a car last week year through Carvana, and had a good experience. So, last month when we decided it was time to trade in our other car, we went to Carvana. Unfortunately, as of yesterday, Caravana has moved our delivery date for the 3rd time. It is frustrating that we are required to verify funds and insurance within the first 24-36 hours of the process. First delivery date was 2/1, which Carvana moved to 2/4. They moved it again to 2/7. Late last night (2/5) we received an email that we've been rescheduled to 2/12 (which doesn't work for us). Now we are scheduled for 2/14/22. Meanwhile, we had to get insurance for this car back on 2/2, but we don't have the car. Carvana's reply: call your insurance agent. Each time they reschedule we have to resign papers, and call to change our insurance so we aren't paying on a car we don't have. Carvana's response for the delay: weather. The car is in Indianapolis, which is barley 3 hours from us. Why would it be delayed from 2/1, to now 2/14? (Assuming it even gets here on 2/14) At this point I'm not at all confident. We had a handful of sorrrys when we called today to express our frustration and disappointment. Six months ago, when asked, I had told several friends to look to Carvana for their vehicle purchase. Now, big thumbs down and we still don't have our vehicle. We even asked if we could drive to Indianapolis to get our vehicle, nope. Guess it's not in a vending machine. read more

I started a purchase on a car on a Sunday 2 weeks ago. I chose a car and got approved. The car was supposed to be pending purchase. 2 days later the car was listed sold. So I chose and color same car. Didn't like the color but oh well. Friday the sam week the first car was back online for purchase. I called carvana and told them of their error. They switched the cars back but mad me pay 1595 for a transfer fee because the first fee was non refundable although it was their fault. Whatever you do, buy your car anywhere but here! This place is a joke. Purchased a 2016 Scion iA about two months ago. I added additional cost for SilverRock warranty. So far, I have a bad battery that was the ONLY thing warranty paid and wasn't even a problem as I knew. Here are things that need done that I can't afford that SilverRock denied and Carvana is not helping me with: Wheel Alignment (that clearly should not be necessary after less than 2 months of driving), New tires(again clearly should not be necessary), new brakes or something that squeak super loud and somehow even their "in network car shop" seems to see no issues with (They squeak so loud it screams at you if you even touch it) and this is just to name the major ones. I'm extremely disappointed, I know cars have expense costs but I put everything I could save into a downpayment for this car and I can't afford all these repairs and shouldn't have to this early in. I just pray this car doesn't put me out of transportation to work as it's not in a safe drive able condition in bad road conditions. I have contacted Carvana about this already and have yet to hear back after a week now. SilverRock will do nothing and made that very clear that either Carvana will help or It's my problem. Update: I was called today to tell me that they have continued to decide that they will not assist in anyway. They will not help you due to their fake 150-point inspection. Let me put it this way: estimate price to sell my car offered was 400$. We'r talking about a car that costs around 5-6k to buy, very good condition and decent mileage. Purchased a 2020 Hyundai Palisade with 14k miles from Carvana last summer. One of the reasons why I felt confident purchasing a car without seeing it and inspecting it myself was Carvana's 150-point inspection. Guess that was my first mistake! One month after purchasing the car it started to sputter when idle. Upon bringing it into my local Hyundai dealership I learned that there was barely any oil in the car. How could that possibly be after such a thorough inspection?!? Six months later, I have been in and out of the Hyundai dealership as my car continues to burn oil at an alarming rate and they can't figure out why. I have now been told that the dealership is asking for Hyundai to approve replacing my entire engine. Buyer beware with Carvana. This is a brand new car with just one owner prior to my purchasing it and they want to replace the entire engine before my car even hits 20k miles! Safe to say I have a lemon on my hands and no one to turn to for assistance at Carvana. If an entire engine has to be replaced, I would think that something should have been noticed in that thorough 150 point inspection. read more

Absolutely the most frustrating experience I've ever had. Had an appointment to sell my car for 1:30 on a Saturday. No one showed. Between talking online with an "advocate" and also on the phone for 3 hours I was informed at 4:30 that the "advocate" that was scheduled to pick up my car had a death in the family and a manager would call me. So at 4:40 a manager finally called to explain and while I sympathized and extended my condolences, I said I didn't understand why it took 3 hours before someone could say that no one was coming to buy my car. Anthony called me insensitive. Between online and on the phone I spent more time on hold then talking with someone. Once I was on hold for 40 minutes before I hung up and called again. I understand that an employee had someone pass away and I am sympathetic to the situation having experienced it myself but, there is no excuse for a Carvana representative not reaching out to their scheduled clients that day to inform them. Their couldn't have been that many that this particular "advocate" had scheduled. The manager's conduct was also inappropriate and very offensive. CARVANA DOESN'T CARE. They charge you way over market value for their "convenience factor". They delivered a car that was DIRTY (visible dust on dash & interior, stains on upholstery, greasy spots on exterior) with an empty tank of gas. It also smelled like a combination of hairspray and dollar store incense...Just, YUCK. My experience had none of the the fun that comes with getting a new car, like the shiny, spotless interior/exterior, paper floor mats, new car smell. I'd just renewed my plates, and when I asked Carvana how to handle, I was told, "Just tell the person when they drop off your car." Fair enough. I did that, and the delivery guy freaked out, throwing the person I spoke with under the bus. "It happens all the time, they sit on phones at home in Arizona all day," he said. He told me they'd send me 2 $100 gift cards for my trouble. Two months later and I'm still waiting on them. Carvana says they've been hurt by the pandemic, that's why their service is so slow. Got a quote for my car online. Sent in all the required documents. Setup an appointment days beforehand to drop off my car at this location. Got to the location at the scheduled time for my "quick easy contactless drop off". They said they were "a little behind". I and my ride waited for an hour and still didn't get helped. I called in and customer support was not helpful. Process seems fine until you actually have to deal with someone face to face. What's the point of having appointments if they aren't ready when I did everything on my end. I had scheduled This whole thing out and was supposed to pickup my new car today and now can't. Took it to their suggested mechanic who said no only were all the fluid caps loose, the service record on line has been deleted. First of all I am rating the Carvana in the suburbs but I couldn't find their own listing so I am reviewing it here. My husband bought a C series Mercedes that was supposed to be delivered on Wednesday. On Monday he received an email that said the car would be late and it wouldn't be here till Friday. This morning they called at 8:20am to say that they could not deliver the car because the delivery trucks were put out of service for repairs. The car was supposed to be delivered at 9 am. They told me us that we would have to pick up the car which was an inconvenience now for two people. Anyways we went to pick up the car and Brandon was extremely nice and very accommodating. We both signed all the paper work and they brought the car up which had been washed and cleaned inside and out. We got in the car and left. We did see a couple of trucks driving in the parking lot. Had the been able to drop the car off when we were told they would have not been rated so low. Worst car buying experience I've ever had and i have bought and owned at least 50 cars. First of all they missed delivery date by 18 days. Delivered car dirty. Key fobs batteries were dead, waited a hour for them to pull the car up front. It was supposed to be a Certified Car, with a clean CARFAX. Brought it to my mechanic, who found many problems with the car. One being sand found in frame, excessive corrosion, he said most likely was in a flood. Also part of car had been repainted poorly . Upper control arm bushing was smashed. None of these problems were on CARFAX. I did return the car, they still want to keep shipping charges, didn't refund my down payment as of yet either. To top it off an employee had left paperwork in my car. None of the 150 check points were checked. Also 1st line was clean sand and debris out of car. So they knew it was in a flood, sounds like fraud to me. Also prep car for paint was listed. Also dented rims on the car, dangerous and they knew that according to their notes. The process of selling the car was quick and easy. They required pictures of the vehicle which determined the final price for the sale. They were very aggressive at noting the small blemishes - a ding from a road stone lowered the offering price by almost $3000.00. Interestingly, when the car was picked up, the agent was effusive about the condition of the vehicle and said repeatedly that the vehicle was in pristine condition. Bought a vw atlas on June 12. So hard to trust or believe anyone so I scheduled an appointment at a vw dealership for a diagnostic report. Unfortunately I couldn't get an appointment until the day after the 7 day warranty expired. On the way to the dealership the engine light came on. Come to find out the car had bad catalytic converters which is in Carvana 150 point check. When they went to replace the converters, they also found an oil leak(valve cover gasket) which is also in the 150 point check. I didn't feel I was responsible for these repairs because Carvana sold me this defective vehicle. I called Carvana and after 2 hours I finally got through to someone. To sum this phone call up, both the customer service rep and his supervisor were rude, deflective, and irresponsible. They kept trying to get me to use my extended warranty. This is not a warranty problem, this is a selling me a bad car issue squarely on them. These are things that go bad over time not in under a month and they sold it anyway. It's unacceptable incompetence at any level whether they checked it or not. I was made to feel as if this is my responsibility not Carvana's which is wrong. You buy a car and carvana gives you their word that the car is good but for me, that was a lie. I wonder how many more are out there like me? These guys are pretty bad. When you make arrangements to sell them a car, you never speak with anyone locally. Four out of six calls were a complete waste of my time speaking with insolent "customer advocates" who cared nothing about my concerns, interrupted and acted as though it was their job to control the path of the conversation rather than help complete a transaction. The day we were scheduled to deliver the car and finish the deal, I was sent to a dealer in Arlington Heights an hour away when I could have driven 10 minutes into Oak Brook and dropped it off locally. The reason I was delivering the car was because I was told the usual representative who was to pick up the car was "sick" that day. This outfit is selling 3.94 billion dollars of used cars a year and they don't have enough people to go out and finish a nearly 30 thousand dollar deal? What a mess. Few details on pay off dates, what sort of checks were being issued, the aforementioned phone reps and they expect you complete this business without ever meeting a bonafide representative locally other than to hand over the keys. Then I discover the person calling me to verify the drop off was calling from an Arizona phone number and not in state from an Illinois phone number. I called back just to get another rude "advocate". I got spooked. Really, it was their phone reps that completely queered this deal and we went to CarMax. Yes it was a little less money, but now I was dealing with a brick and mortar operation that was clean and organized and not some half baked internet store under investigation in around half a dozen states. Their car buying verification process does take long (3 days for me) but apart from that every thing is smooth and automated. RE: ANT INFESTATION CARVANA CAR In summary my Carvana car purchase has a black ant infestation. Shortly after picking up ( Oak Brook Illinois) my newly purchased nice Ford Fiesta and while driving. I observed a black ant on the passenger front window, then the driver window and also an ant exiting the dash vent. I stopped at shake shake and purchased food which I placed on the passenger front seat. I went inside a store briefly and upon return to the car I observed ants inside and out the bag containing my food, also on the passenger seat where the bag was located. U purchased RAID for the ants Off for me and I Sprayed. I have been spraying and bombing for ants since the car purchase for several days since the car purchase. I hope the bombs will get rid of them finally. Ants have been both inside and outside the car. I feel like I am experiencing a real life Steven King movie nightmare. I have searched the Carvana site for a replacement car like the one I purchased ( low miles, color etc.) negative results. I like my current car purchase minus the ant infestation.
