So I did a thing and sold my 2014 Smart Fortwo to Carvana. The overall process was seamless as it starts online and ended with a gentleman coming to pick up the vehicle. The wonky part was when the gent arrived to pick up the vehicle. He sent a text the morning of to notify me of his arrival time. Little did I know he arrived via Uber and not the shiny white flatbed truck with the logo plastered all over it. He has literally nothing identifying him as a representative of Carvana except an envelope with all the required paperwork as well as the check for the vehicle. All this sent my spidey senses through the roof!! Plus the gent was easily aggravated when I started asking clarifying questions. Still not remotely satisfied with his answers or his demeanor, I asked him to give me a moment to call Carvana to verify, for my own peace of mind. I was able to confirm that when they do not have a flatbed available and to keep their appointments accordingly, they do send their reps out via Uber to pick up the vehicle and drive it back to the designated depot. The gent also gave me his managers number to contact him if that would help and advised if I was not comfortable with handing the vehicle over to him, I could drive it to Gaithersburg and drop it if there. Insert Mark, his manager was very helpful. He stayed on the phone (on speaker) and walked me through all the signatures needed on the paperwork to complete the transaction. He did apologize that I was not made known that they show up basically how they show up, hence why they keep you updated on their arrival time. Overall, despite all of the above I was actually quite pleased at the ease of the sell from start to finish. Had I known the logistics of the arrival I would of had no issues with how the gent arrived. After taking to him, he was under the assumption that I was aware that someone "would just arrive" despite how it happened. If you want a process that works for you, on your time and takes minimal effort on your part, Carvana's the way to sell your vehicle away! read more

The schedule date finally come and they text me not even call me to tell me the delivery scheduled will not be completed to which I asked why and when would it be deliver and I haven't received an answer. I called customer service and they do not have an answer to what happened to the car. It's very unfortunate even my insurance warned me about this company and it's sad to say I didn't listen. Upsell this, downgrade that and the next thing you know you have given away your first born child for a K-Car. None of that in my experience with Carvana; and "NO" this is not a paid advertisement. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with Carvana. From Leonel to every person I have spoken to on the phone, and there have been numerous phone conversations, it has been nothing but smooth sailing and complete attentiveness from this company. Whomever the genius(es) were that decided to create this company, all I can say is "Mazel Tov". Keep up the fantastic work that you are doing and I will be back when I start up my taxi cab company. We had an easy time looking online but once we picked up the car there was a cover missing from the door handle. They said it was in the picture but it wasn't called out in the imperfection photos. I've bought and sold my share of vehicles over the years. This was, by far, the easiest process I have ever experienced, from start to finish. I chose Carvana because I did not want to take time to visit a dealer and sit there while they did all the paperwork and tried to upsell me on extended warranties and service packages. Carvana made me feel confident that it was work risking not seeing the car before purchase, because they explained I could test drive the new car and decide not to accept delivery, and if I accepted delivery I had 7 days to change my mind. So - a low-risk way to save time, IMO. Josiah delivered the new car on a flatbed and we took our test drive and decided to keep the new car. He had me sign a few things, then explained that after the 7 days, he had arranged for (1) two additional floor mats, and (2) a front license plate bracket installation, and (3) an additional key. These were not things I asked for - he took the initiative. He was pleasant, friendly, and made me feel really good about the delivery experience and my purchase. Today is day 8, and Carvana just texted me to tell me they're starting the registration paperwork. I always appreciate a sales/service experience where the seller goes out of their way to look after the details and save me time, making it as easy as possible for me to buy their product. The website and mobile app were easy to use. I mean, I did most of the car buying transaction... with my iPhone. That's a huge improvement over sitting at a small metal desk in the middle of a dealer showroom, drinking Keurig coffee from a styrofoam cup. Carvana not only delivered me a car, they delivered on a worry-free purchase experience. I would not hesitate to recommend them or use them again. ADDING A DAY LATER: minor complaint. Their process triggers automatic registration and sending out of tags after the 7th day. However, they are fedexing on a day (and week) when we won't be available to sign for the delivery. Customer service was unable to hold the delivery, so now i have to work it out with FedEx. Recommend Carvana check with customer first to ensure delivery day is convenient before triggering FedEx, especially when it falls during a holiday week. Also, the key fob Josiah promised was not In Carvana's "system" - customer service said I could take that up with the warranty provider. The two keys we received work fine, but it's disappointing that the driver promised something that isn't to be. read more

This is not that way to sell your car quickly. Although the technology that they use is great, getting a person on the phone is nearly impossible. They scheduled our pick up days later and then called us the morning of the appointment to let us know they were not going to make it and suggested that I drop the vehicle to them many miles away and they would Uber me back home. So, I decided to leave a review on their website. To my surprise, you can't leave a review on the website. They are in control of what reflects on the website, so don't be fooled. I decided to chat with a representative to see how the review process works and they told me that I would receive and email to submit a review. Well, needless to say I have not received an e-mail to do so. I'm guessing only clients that finalize a sale or a purchase get that e-mail and they are still in control of what they decide to post on their website. The purchase process was easy enough. Paid in full 100% upfront. The delivery was another story entirely. Car was supposed to be delivered on August 24th between 2 and 5PM. I work in healthcare and had to take a PTO day as I often work weekends. 24 hours before the scheduled delivery I was notified there was a delay and would need to be rescheduled. New delivery date 31 August. Not only did I lose a PTO day, I now had to rent a vehicle for another week. Customer service agent swore to me that the next delivery would be as early as possible and by 1030 at the latest to get me on the road in time for my scheduled shift at work. (I wasn't going to waste another PTO day) . So, even though the scheduled delivery time was between 8am and 11am, I was promised I would be a priority on the delivery schedule as the least they could do. Day of delivery - I received a phone call at 1030 that the driver was leaving the lot and should be there in half an hour. They showed up at 11:04. The car had additional damage that was not previously listed, e.g. a broken seat cushion on the driver's side and a chip in the front window driver's side. Also, the vehicle did not come with the CD player that was listed as one of the features. Finally, the real reason for the delay in delivery? Turned out the vehicle needed a repair to a "flex joint seal". A necessary repair that had not been disclosed. End result - never buying a car through Carvana again. read more

I was looking for a specific car and found it on Carvana.com. I was elated to find the car I liked with low mileage in a silver exterior with what was advertised as "beige" color interior on the site. I was also happy to learn that Carvana disclosed "an" imperfection of level 1 (which is categorized as very small imperfections) passenger side - chips" in the paint. So, after hours of viewing the car online, zooming in on pics and feeling pretty good a lot buying a car - sight unseen - but with a 7-day return policy, I decided to begin the process to purchase the car. I have to admit...Carvana is ON IT, when it comes to closing the deal. Paperwork was all digitally signed and they knew how they were going to get the money from me to purchase the car. SN - I passed on using them to finance the car since I was able to get a better rate with my credit union. All was going well. They contacted me DAILY to ensure the delivery date would be met without issue. The car arrived - I love the fact that they will deliver it to your front door, which is why they got the 1 star!! I took a hard look at the car and noted a few scratches that were NOT included in the description of the car. Strike ONE. I went to open the trunk of the car only to find a big wad of FUZZY GUNK (see photo) in the trunk. The driver/advocate took pics of my concerns to provide back to Carvana for resolution. Or so I thought...WAIT! I failed to mention that the INTERIOR COLOR of the car turned out to be GRAY, NOT BEIGE, which was also noted. WTH?! STRIKE TWO. The final straw was an interesting smell, that I later noticed AFTER I agreed to keep the car with the 7-Day return policy in mind. Wondering if the GRAY interior would eventually sit well with me. But here's the kicker....once the car was dropped off, the money came out of my account and poof. Nothing. NONE OF MY CONCERNS WERE MET REASONABLY. I HAVE CALLED, to which I was instructed to upload pics of my concerns only to be told by email that they will "compensate" me with $100. WHAT IS THAT?! They got the interior color wrong, they deliberately didn't disclose additional level 3 scratches on the car AND delivered the car with a strong smell that could have been mitigated by shampooing the carpet?! I "ordered" my car in February, 2023. The delivery date was supposed to be February 28th. It was rescheduled to March 3rd, then March 6th. then March 8th @ 12 noon, then March 8th @ 10:00 am (without consulting me). I got a ride to the designated location to pick up my car to be told that they were "running a little behind". Two hours later I was informed that the title was never signed off by the previous owner. They were kind enough to spring for an Uber home, however I was promised a call at some point today. I never heard so I reached out several times and no one answered. I called the main customer service number, and they showed no record of the events. This was my second vehicle, first EV purchased from Carvana. The purchase process was excellent, however the pick-up not so much. Mostly because I had to travel 125 miles to pick up the vehicle. And to get home that same mileage counted against my test drive. The EV purchased was not charged to full. Actually below 70%. And the cleanup of the vehicle was not great. The vehicle is excellent. Broken taillight, bent exhaust, loose bumper smelled like smoke Car #3 (see text snapshot)- Day before, Delayed for another week, took a day off work for it. DO NOT BUY from Carvana unless you want the worst car buying experience. They do not give you anything for your hassle. I asked for a 2nd key at least, and they said, sorry, we cannot help you. I recently was car shopping in order to replace one of our cars. We are a three car household, or I should say we were a three car household. The third car however now sold even though I decided not to replace it at the moment because used car prices are at all time record highs. Mind you that before I started this process I took the car to my mechanic and they gave me advice on what I should do to sell the car and about how much I should get. In the process of deciding what to do with the third car I got offers on it from several places. Carvana was one of those places. I was shocked when I got the offer from Carvana which was for $196. Also the offer from Carvana had repairs that they wanted done to the car before they would pay me $196 for it. The repairs would cost me more than $196 so Carvana basically wanted me to pay out to give them my used car. Again mind you that $196 was not even 1/20 of the current Blue Book Value of trading in the car. I ended up selling the car to another used car chain store and I had a great experience. They paid me over 15 times what Carvana offered me and I didn't have to do any repairs myself the price they offered factored in the repairs. I wish I would have said something at the time. Now a buddy of mine went and bought a car from Carvana and there is something wrong with the title so that the bank isn't able to finalize his loan. But he is stuck with the car and Carvana is telling him that he owes them for the car they won't take it back. All of this while he has no way to get around now. Carvana is a huge scam. I am just going to come out and say it. I should have said something earlier this year when they made the ridiculously low offer on my car. Especially since at the time used car prices overall are at all time record high levels. I'm sorry I didn't say it earlier. Buyers AND Sellers BEWARE. read more

My Carvana process (buying a car) was great up until I arrived at the Gaithersburg location. My appointment was at 10 am, and no one helped us immediately. We watched several other customers arrive and walk off with their cars while we continued to wait. At 10:45, someone told us we had been re-scheduled to 12 and that we should return then (though I had not gotten a text or email saying my appointment was changed). As soon as we sat down at a nearby coffee shop, Carvana called me saying there was a mistake and to come back. It was around 11:20 when I was finally helped and able to get my car. Carvana did try to help compensate for this later, which is why I am giving four stars instead of three. In addition, the rest of the process was genuinely very smooth. A few weeks later my engine started acting up and my heat was not working properly. They would not pay for the heat filter, I had to pay for it out of pocket. My Carvana experience was odd. There were no issues ordering the vehicle or the actual delivery, the problems I had were three items. They undervalued my trade by about 3k. Granted it had an accident record, but those records do not explain to the extent of the incident which was a wheel curbing the second week it was owned. The second and there is where they lose the 3 stars. The endless hours over the phone during the documentation process, and paperwork delays, one delay was on me it was purely administrative and had no effect on the financial documents, but they kept having technical issues with document uploads and availability, I would upload documents, the system would say complete. You could not see the documents online. I could see them on my phone though which I did not use to upload them. This caused repeat upload requests. I have at least 5 or 6 hours of calls and waiting on hold, and lots of online time. Last item. The vehicle was fine, drove it two days noticed brakes had heavy vibration under normal braking. Gave it a day in case it was just scale from sitting on lots. Nope. I reported it to Carvana before I even had plates, and they sent me through the warranty company. For a pre-existing issue. Note warranty companies do not cover wear and tear items, brakes, tires, clutches, wipers that stuff. However they made an exception as you cannot take out good brakes in under 90 miles of test drive which is supposed to be 7 days. I took it to my mechanic and he was like you will never get a sticker with these brakes. The front rotors were warped and could not be turned, the pads were done, they were half of the lowest acceptable lowest use left meaning near rivets. The rears were even worse. The warranty company gave my guy a hard time over this although he had pics, measurements everything. They even wanted him to turn just one side of the rotor to make it work. I wanted OE parts they said no, basically go get autozone cheap stuff, till they found the OE stuff was cheaper, then it was ok. I already paid for diagnostics, and was going to get charged a $50 deductible and they said I had to pay for sales tax on all the parts, for a pre-existing unsafe brake issue, that would not even pass MA inspections. Lets put this into context. You buy a car and find out the second day that it has no 5th gear the first time you take it on the highway. You report it to the dealer and they tell you to call and make all the arrangements to get it repaired and to deal with the warranty company as if you have been driving the car for 5 months and it's a failure that occurred during the warranty period even though it came that way, and you have to pay for part of it..... That is the gist of what I had to do. Then I had to argue with them over the deductible, and sales tax. They (warranty co.) told carvana my mechanic told them I had to pay the sales tax, although I was standing in his office when he was talking to them, when they told him I had to do that. My mechanic and I were like no he didn't. It is all squared away now but I have never seen a dealer use a warranty company like their own shop before. I understand if you are at an actual dealership like Ford and you buy a car from them, they would do all the repair work etc. It would be out of your hands they would handle all of it behind the scenes but it was just get fixed as its a pre-existing condition. They way Carvana handles this situation its on you. BTW the suggested shop that you would not pay a deductible for warranty service they wanted me to go to, was a tire and shock place with a 1 star rating. Monro tire and service. For someone who would rather either a dealer look at it or my own mechanic it is a hard pill to swallow this type of service. read more

I love the car I got and the online process was fairly easy. I have two reasons, however, for my discontent with the overall experience. First was that I was initially given less than 24 hours to arrange my independent financing before my pickup appointment was cancelled. It seems to me that if there was any company in the world that would be able to predict how long it takes to arrange independent financing it would be Carvana. My process took three days in the end and that does not seem unreasonable to me. I have concluded that the reason for the short leash on that task was an attempt to coerce me into using Carvana financing and I am offended by that technique. Second was that the description of my new car included Apple CarPlay. In fact I included CarPlay as a search criteria when looking for this car. Upon taking delivery, though, I discovered that the car did not come with CarPlay included, but rather that the car can be upgraded in order to make it CarPlay capable. To accomplish this I will incur an additional $500 bill that I was not able to factor into my purchase decision because of the incomplete or inaccurate information Carvana provided. I have a strong preference for doing business with companies that at least feel trustworthy. My experience with this transaction was that Carvana relies entirely too much on deception and incomplete information to be trustworthy. I will not buy a car from Carvana again. read more

The online car search is actually pretty awesome. Great way to find many cars of the same type you are looking for to make comparisons in features as well as price. There were a couple of drawbacks to my experience with them. I had a 1.5 hour one way drive to get to one of their vending machines. The people I dealt with during the entire purchase were all very friendly and helpful and the person at the vending machine was great. But when we got the vehicle home, we noticed a few listed features were not on the vehicle. I would be a little more thorough when inspecting the vehicle before delivery if there is a next time. I ended up contacting customer service and discussing what I would classify as false advertising. They did work with me to reimburse me for the missing items. I was not 100% satisfied with what they offered for the missing features, but I did accept it instead of returning the vehicle. Overall my wife is pretty pleased with the vehicle. So she did not want to return it. So I can say with a few minor hiccups the overall process was acceptable. I would recommend for anyone else planning a purchase from Carvana that you make sure all of the advertised accessories or options it tells you in the description are on the vehicle are there before you accept it. Then decide is it worth losing those features for maybe a reasonable reimbursement for them or not purchasing the vehicle. Which would have sucked after the long drive to the vending machine. Overall, I would recommend Carvana for a vehicle purchase, just be vigilant. read more
