Had a good lunch, food was good, waitress was nice and pleasant. All in all it was an ok place to eat. Me and my friends saw they had a beer to-go called a grawler so we asked our server if we could purchase one through her, she said "yes let me ring that up for you." So we payed our bills and waited for our server to bring our grawler. She never came back. My friends and I get up and proceed to ask the waitress if she was going to bring our grawler, she informed me quite politely that we pick it up on our way out. I stop on our way out and grab a grawler and then the abuse started from some loud, rude, disrespectful, pride full, poppus bar tender. This older man yells at me as Im leaving the restaurant " Can a see a receipt before you just start walking out with BEER!" (it is one thing to want prof of purchase and its another to make rude accusations.."WHERE IS THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THAT???) That would have been only slightly rude in the tone he used if no one was around but no there was a pretty full restaurant. If this was not embarrassing enough we could not find our receipt so I start toward the patio in the back where we were sitting to get our server. He then is yelling after me all kinds of rude snarky comments. At this point my friend is coming out of the bathroom so in embarrassment we start toward the front door wanting to leave. To my surprise this man started following me making more rude comments as we are leaving. After we left I called the manager she was great her name started with a D. She said that she would take the proper disciplinary actions and really helped smooth my emotions over. I hope she took the proper action because this was HARASSMENT, I would like to return but don't think I will in fear this will happen again. So the management knows we were there on July 12th around 12-1pm. This man should not work here he ruined everything for me and my friends we had to leave Durango. read more

I've been coming to Carver's since the time they were mostly a breakfast spot when I was a kid and I still love coming here 30+ years later. Lunch and dinner are amazing and so are the beers. Came in a couple weeks ago with my parents for lunch and had a wonderful relaxing and tasty meal. Love that they have sidewinder fries to, as I don't see those very often and the are delicious. Old Oak Amber and Lightner Creek Lager are my go-to beers. Don't miss out on trying the Seasonal or rotators though as they are usually delicious as well, the Oktoberfest certainly was this year! Food and beer highlight of the trip. Rivals any of the brewpubs that denver has to offer - the food was delicious and the beers, especially the Double UPA, was the best! Chilled outside on the patio and met a ton of people - most locals who frequent the place. Just a fantastic day - spent about 3 hours there and didn't want to leave but more to see. Online they said they were open and they were not at 4:00pm on a Wednesday. Drove a couple hours and was looking forward to this brewery as I have eaten here several times in the past. Went to Steamworks instead which I enjoyed even better. Update: I guess they are closed due to maintenance which they posted in their Facebook page but no sign on the door at the restaurant. read more

We did a brewery tour while visiting Durango and out of the 4 we went to, Carvers was hands down the best one. The beer was really good and they had great variety and some interesting special beers on tap. The food was great as was the service. I ordered a ham, cheese, lettuce and mayo sandwich since I was sharing with my little sister. It was everything I wanted in that moment. They not only have a ton of different sandwiches on their menu, but they also have a full bar. A great spot to grab sandwiches and drinks while in Durango!

I can't believe that I'm in a…read moresmall Colorado town, where often, mediocre food is the rule, and burgers are typically the only item most restaurants are capable of mustering. This sandwich is truly epic. The wheat bread is from a local bakery. Instead of it being toasted in a perfunctory, afterthought manner, it is thoroughly toasted right at the point of the wheat kernels cracking, engendering the goodness only wheat can provide. The bacon is properly cooked, with no hint of undercooked slime present. The green chili tastes as though it was brought here this morning from Hatch, with the whole of the ingredients being uniquely fresh. Finally, the sriracha mayo sauce provides just the right presence of spice, uniquely accenting the green chili. Turkey itself is great, but I confess, is so overshadowed by the excellence present throughout the sandwich, that it hardly occupies the center stage. On another note, a definite problem here is that the water glass conveying a distinct taste of soap residue. It's bad. This happened the last time that I was here, as well. I did tell the owner about this today. Pricing is just right and seating can be awkward at times. I look forward to returning.

We always stay in Durango on our way to Breckenridge so made sure we stopped here for breakfast. It's a little north of town. 9 miles but worth it. They have a cute and large outdoor patio area where you can bring your dog as well as a covered semi indoor area and a smaller indoor area. They are open from 7-2. I loved that I could build my own breakfast and ordered 2 eggs over medium cheesy chili grits and a fruit cup. My husband also ordered two eggs over medium bacon and hashbrowns. The eggs were cooked perfectly! I can't tell you how many times I have gone to restaurants and chefs. Do not know how to cook an egg over medium! Cheesy green chili grits were fantastic just the right amount of spice and a great cheesy topping so good! The fruit cup was plentiful with grape strawberries and cantaloupe, pineapple and all nice fresh fruit. My husband said the bacon was perfectly cooked and the hashbrowns had a great crunch. We will definitely come back anytime we are in Durango! If you're in the area, they are worth the trip.
