Never had a bad meal here...EVER! Stopped in this morning for breakfast and the only downside to this place is how popular it is. I've never come here and not had to wait...BUT, here's the rub-its WELL WORTH THE WAIT. Pancakes here are as good as or better than anywhere in a 20 mile radius. This morning my wife had the chorizo and cheddar scramble...and I know what I'm getting next time! My son and I both had pancakes...me with nice thick cut bacon and he with Taylor Ham. Not a crumb left on the plate. I love that the bread here is all homemade and that the coffee is always fresh and delicious. Carvers is the new name of Doc's Kitchen. Same excellent food, service and prices. Their breakfasts are amazing. Always check out the specials board. Seriously how can you go wrong with coconut pancakes topped with banana's and strawberrys? Or their oven roasted vegetables as a side? Even their flavored coffee's are ridiculous! Graham Cracker flavored coffee, yes please...I want some more. So if you have not been here, please go. It's becoming a staple of DaHub! In the warmer months there is outside seating. Visiting from Miami, and I have to say, if you're looking for good food with great taste, Carver's is the place to go. Absolutely loved the Chorizo breakfast special. My husband and I were invited here about a year ago with friends. Since then we've been back time and again. The eggs and omelets are pretty standard. The highlights are the pancakes, especially Multigrain pancakes, bread, and daily specials. The Multigrain pancakes are unlike anything that you've ever had before. They're mixed with two types of chopped nuts and some other yummy things. You can get fruit and other add-ins. Not only are they added in but then also sprinkled on top. I personally get banana - strawberry - chocolate chip EVER SINGLE TIME. The bread is all homemade there. There are about 6 or 7 varieties and they use it for the toast. I like to grab a loaf (they'll slice it for you) for the following week when I'm there. The daily specials always sound and look amaxing. My friend got it last time and said it was great (and she's picky). I'm always too busy eating my pancakes to bother. Coffee is also good and bottomless. My only wish is that they'd serve real cream and not those horrible little creamers. read more

This place used to be called Doc's. My friends and I love coming here after the gym to load up on their omlettes and pancakes. You definitely need to show up early though because the place is always packed. Everything they make here is fresh, so you know you're getting quality food. I love the pancakes, but I wish the toppings were baked into it, instead of just piled on top of the pancakes. Yum yum yum. I love getting taylor ham sandwiches when I'm in Jersey. Came here after the flight Thursday morning at around 7:00/7:30 and there was no one here. Pretty empty. We were helped right away and given drinks and a menu. The service was quick and good. I ordered the taylor ham, egg, and cheese sandwich on the roll. SO good! I love taylor ham so much and this hit the spot. I also got the home fries. Those were okay, nothing special. They weren't really home fries either, though. More like chunky hash browns. My husband and I had breakfast at Carver's on Saturday, July 25 thanks to fellow Yelpers. It is a small cafe type restaurant on a side street, with on street parking. Although they were busy, we were seated within 5 minutes of our arrival. There were several menu board specials and a noticed that they have Gluten Free pancakes available (although neither of us ordered them, I thought this was worth noting because my husband spoke so favorably of their regular ones). I ordered the special omelette from the menu board which included pepperoni, peppers, zucchini, and provolone cheeses. I opted for the oven roasted veggies (a blend of zucchini, peppers, carrots, and green beans, lightly seasoned) instead of home fries for an extra fee of $1.50????? My husband ordered pancakes with fresh blueberries (on and in the pancakes) with a side of sausage links. All omelettes come standard with home fries and a choice of four different homemade breads, including white, wheat, rye and raisin. The omelette was delicious. The oven roasted veggies were a healthy substitute for potatoes and although pretty good, I am not certain I would opt for them a second time (an addition of onion would really enhance them). My husband said the bread was very good and we both agreed that the coffee was excellent. My husband said that his pancakes were delicious and tender. He ate them with no syrup, just the blueberries. We both thought the sausages were delicious, moist, and nicely browned with a subtle sage flavor. The tab was just shy of $29.00 + tip. The service was pretty good and we were in and out in about 40 minutes, which may be important because the street parking is "one hour" parking. If you're in the vicinity of Denville, give it a try. It exceeded my expectations and the breakfast we enjoyed would compete with the best diner breakfasts in NJ (as a former NJ resident, I have eaten breakfast at many). I do like the decoration of the place... and when i was waiting to be seated, i was able to chat with another frequent comer who told me that whatever you order won't go wrong in this place... we ordered their corn beef hash and french toast... they were very very good... next time we will try their famous pancake... the only commend i do have is when you first walk in... they don't really wait on you or let you know that they will be right with you... i stood there for maybe 10 with other people and no one came and acknowledge us... i guess they were busy at that time... and the frequent comer said that this never happened... so i guess i just catch them at a bad time... but i do want to try their pancake... so we will be back... read more

I will discuss the many good experiences my fiancé and I have had at Carver's restaurant. All the food seems homemade and very creative. The French toast is very good but the pancakes are absolutely delicious! Warning, the pancakes are huge. The place is small and gets packed quickly even on weekdays. Parking is not the most convenient. This is our favorite place to eat breakfast but we go there probably once a month due to the distance from our house ( 20-25 min drive). If you are hungry and want a guaranteed rememberable breakfast, this is the place. I haven't tried their lunch yet because I can't make it past their breakfast menu, but one of these days I'm going to try the lunch. read more

I went here after a doctor appointment and was on crutches, I was able to get around just fine and noticed a ramp to get inside. Things you notice when you are depending on crutches. I was here with my mom, who has been here before. Both meals came out great. Home fries were perfectly crispy! (But not too crispy!) When you go you may need to share a big table with other people, which I don't mind becasue once again it gives you that home town /family feel! Now onto the food! I got the scrambled eggs with roasted veggies and the homemade multigrain toast and my husband got the scrambled eggs and hash. Everything was great! The food was decent but overpriced for what you get. I ordered a side of bacon ($3.45) and got only 4 pieces which is a rip off. The waitress (Annette) had an attitude the whole time and messed up the order. She also never came to check up on us during our time eating. The prices are more expensive than average and any other restaurant is a way better value. There is a $3 sharing fee if you share a plate which is absolutely ridiculous. I've got to write a mixed review here...the food was good, made quick and tasty. I had the hearty pancake breakfast with blueberries in the cake. They had Taylor ham on the menu and I asked what it was and the guy says, "you're not from around here" with a grin. I tell him no and he tells me it's a local thing and gives me a split order of the ham and some sausage to play it safe. As I waited for breakfast I googled this ham and was a little leery, but I kept an open mind. When it came out it was a little crispy, salty, and all that ham wants to be. I'm definitely a fan. The pancakes were not award winning, per the menu, but had a good amount of berries and soaked up the syrup well. So you may say, why only 3 stars? Well, as I walked in the sign says please wait to be seated. I make eye contact with the waitress and she looks away and goes back to talking to a couple at one of the booths. I continue to stand there like a schmuck when the guy behind the counter finally sees she isn't doing her job and asks how many and I tell him one. He seats me, and takes my order and all is good. But when the next couple of customers comes in, the waitress is Johnny on the spot to seat them and take their orders, so it pissed me off that she made a conscious effort to not take care of me...because I'm not a local, don't look like a local, or just don't give off the right attitude to be seated I will never know. **Update - I was contacted by the manager and offered apologies in regards to this. I will be giving them another chance in the future.** In all, fair place to go if you're a local, I hope they take care of them better than a visitor to the area. Their whole wheat pancakes with sliced bananas and chocolate chips are my favorite in this establishment. Corned beef hash is my favorite side.
