Bought two cars recently from Carzone, had to replace tires on both vehicles right away. One of the vehicles within a week of purchase had a flat tire. The other vehicle brake light came on and found that the brakes were at only 5% - and per the safety inspection law they should have not sold the vehicle in that condition. When we went back to the dealership to report the "mis-haps", we were very understanding and noted that it was probably the company that they hired to do the safety inspections and requested that we get compensation back for the brakes and rotors that had to be replaced, not the tires. They gave us nothing but the run around. We are filing a complaint with the BBB and the Department of Motor Vehicles. As we have come to find out they are obligated to do a standard safety test which would have uncovered these problems and avoided potentially a horrific accident(s). read more

So I've been in the market for a Honda Fit but frankly they're hard to come by at an affordable rate due to demand. I was lucky that I had the time to look around both SoCal and states within driving distance and had a friend in the Reno area so decided to look around while I was visiting. CarZone showed up on yelp and looked good so I went over and had a GREAT experience with Abraham one of the sales people. I hate buying cars as a single woman because some dealers can get really pushy but Abraham never made me feel like I HAD to walk away with a car. But I did, as they had a good selection and the best price I'd seen for a Fit. Love the car and love driving it in SoCal where something compact is key. I am updating my previous review because they have "fixed" my car. They replaced the window motor and then misaligned the window itself and now instead of working slowly it doesn't work at all. They also broke the clips that holds the inside of the door panel so it flapped around. I have an extended warranty but am loathe to use it since they break more than they fix. Purchased a Lincoln Aviator with 70,000 miles on it. Paid cash and traded in my sedan. Within 24 hours the shifter was getting stuck in park. Brought the car back and left it overnight- was told they found the problem and replaced the shifter. Within 3 days same issue would occasionally happen. Decided we would look into getting it fixed by a mechanic we trusted. Less than 3 months and only 4,000 miles later- I'm visiting family in California alone with just my 5 month old son. Crossing a bridge when my transmission light comes on and my car no longer maintains a safe freeway speed. Had to have my car towed ($200) to a shop where it was found to have metal shavings throughout the faulty transmission! I had to have THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION REPLACED for $3800. When I called the car lot I was basically told "oh well" because I didn't finance an overpriced warranty through them. They sold us an unsafe car and offered us nothing. For the safety of your families I would not recommend purchasing from this lot. Let alone all the money you can be out for mechanical problems. read more

If you are an informed, thorough buyer, this place has no interest in having you as a customer. We just started looking for a particular car and one popped up at this Carzone location so we went down to check it out. I had called ahead so they had the car pulled out for easier viewing. A plus for sure with how packed the lot is. With my first walk around I noticed it had quite a few door dings and scratches which prompted me to take a closer look at the paint. I did so while my husband checked out the engine and electronics. I found a section on the bumper that indicated it had been repainted (poorly sanded edge, indicating a sloppy paintjob, not something this manufacturer is know for). This raised a red flag as the Carfax they provided didn't have any accidents on it. We're not afraid of a car that's been in an accident, we just want to make sure there's no frame damage and that the price we pay is fair for the condition. We point it out and the salesman starts talking about how it's not new and asks Siri or Google how much a new one costs. I'm like, "I know it's not new, a new one is probably 50 or 60k." So we both drive the vehicle. Rides smooth, no obvious issues, but we need to talk about it. As we are leaving the salesman is outside talking with a couple co-workers and doesn't even look at us, let alone say goodbye. I even handed him the key (which had a dead battery) and he didn't acknowledge me. So I came home, read some Yelp reviews and talked it over with my husband. If we wanted to pursue it, we'd have to get a pre-purchase inspection at a well know, very reputable shop in town that specializes in this manufacturer, pull our own vehicle history report and the price would have to come down (they have it listed $2k over KBB or Edmunds retail value). I just talked to one of the guys there (who I'm pretty sure is the same guy who dropped an F-bomb in the waiting room while my daughter and I were in there). He gave a hard no to the pre-purchase inspection with 2 exceptions, "but we have 2 shops that we have approved to do pre-purchase inspections, but I assure you there's no frame damage." Yeah, like I'm going to take your word for it or trust the guys at your preferred shops (the Big-O next door and 1 other place) over the shop that specializes in this manufacturer, has an excellent reputation and who we've done business with before. I understand wanting to protect your investment and not letting them go just anywhere, but there is literally no legit objection to the shop we want except that they know what they're doing and the guys at Carzone don't want that. As we discuss this further it's clear their sales strategy is insult (he suggested my husband is "super OCD" about cars), try to convince you that your expectations are unrealistic and then let you know your business is not needed. It's places like this that make consumers leery of used car dealers. read more

So I have had the jeep 4 months, I have put less than 2000 miles on it and the transmission synchros are shot, and to top that they have not issued the title to the DMV, I have talked to them several times this week and they made promises they will not put in writing, so empty. Have filled CED20 complaint with the DMV Code Enforcement Division and contacted an attorney, Have a bad feeling I'm going to have to sue for a title on a Jeep I paid (over bluebook) cash for!!! So they have my money, and I have no title??? Heed my advise avoid these people like the plague!!! You will be glad you did. The DMV CED are the people to talk to about this title problem, they contacted me within two weeks and did investigate this issue Carzone was fined threw the day they turn over the title (50.00 a day) which seemed to get these people moving on actually getting my title to the DMV. Overall my car buying experience from this place was positive. I saw a jetta on their website and it was exactly what i was searching for, white, black leather, and a sunroof. I called their store and Nate in the internet dept was very helpful. We found a cheap airline ticket and he got me a really good deal on a hotel room at the Peppermill Hotel. Oh, they picked us up from the airport as well. They really want to earn your business. Then come one of the manager Derick Propop.. he will over promise, and just have you go to their shop 10 times hoping you give up. They sold me Lexus 1999 ES300 which mark price was $ 4500 but i ended up paying $9,000 ( I paid every thing in 7 months). They lied to me that this will built my credit but it turn out that all my payments were never reported to any credit bureau. Its a web on scam there. The next day after they sold me the car, i could hear a loud tik tak noise from the front wheel, I took the car back and the first time they said they were busy .. If your looking for a honesty and integrity, you have come to the wrong place. I bought a car for my grandson a few weeks ago. Salesman tried to sneak in a warranty said it was just the price of the car. Couldn't smog it on the day I bought it, He said because they serviced it, but that wouldn't prevent a car from passing smog. Two days later check engine light came on, code said catalytic converter need to be replaced. The only good thing about this place is that you don't have a sales guy on you as soon as you walk on the lot. You have time to look around for yourself. With that being said, it took too long before a sales person could be found to even take a look at the vehicles, 45 minutes to be exact. Once I sat down with a financer there was no negotiation on the price of the vehicle and they tried to under price my trade in. Even though I have recieved other trade in offers from more reputable dealerships at a much higher value. I was then told they would need a higher cash down payment making my total down down payment almost half of their asking price. Rule #1 never pay the asking price. These guys don't even want to negotiate so I should have left at that point. Once I learned that they wouldnt negotiate and that they were trying to under price my trade in I decided to leave. As I was leaving I told the financer that I thought the way he was doing business was wrong and that he was trying to cheat me. He immediatly became irate and told me that I need to learn how to shop and know my facts before coming in to buy a vehicle. I told him I did my homework. I know how much my car is worth, I know how much the vehicle I was looking at is worth and I wouldn't allow him to price gouge me. If I could give negative stars, I would. I bought a car here about a year and a half ago. As I was driving home, the check engine light came on. I took it back to them, as I live in CA, and they said they put a new catalytic converter on, obviously they lied because my mechanic told me I need a new one, and that there's some ghetto welding stuff going on under my car. This was the most horrible experiece I've had while buying a car. I came by the lot and I saw a car that I like, I apporached one of the sale's men and and ask him if i could see the car, he said he was helping other customer and will be with me in a sec. After about 10 minutes of waiting, I appoached another guy and he said that they had a down on that car already. I said ok.. could you show me the other car that is over there? then he said are you looking to finace or cash? I went on to tell him that i wanted to finance, then he said -without knowing anything about my credit yet - that they would not be able to finance me for more than 7000 dollar loan and they needed at least 4000 down before I could even look at the car. REALLY! I just wanted to look at the car!. I told him that I had a co-signer and if he could showed me car and he rudely said no, that I need to bring my co-signer first and that he was very busy helping customers that were ready to purchase (when there were no other customers on the lot anymore) and that he was not going to show me the car. I was very angry with the way this sell men threated me, rude and unprofessional. Never going here again!! This place is the personification of a shady used car lot. Bought a Toyota with relatively low miles thinking I'd be okay, turned out to be an absolute lemon. The day after I bought it and could actually get underneath it I immediately noticed an oil leak on the rear main seal, which is not an easy repair. I told them and they said they'd have an apt with me to have their mechanics check it out. Before I could even meet them for the appointment my transfer case blew up and it was in the shop for nearly two weeks. Fortunately, I had the extra insurance, which helped this time, but GWC warranty to proved to be difficult to work with and unhelpful unless required to assist. after fixing the transfer case, I took it back to Carzone for them to fix the oil leak and also a noisy belt, took them two days, and I swear they did nothing, except evidently they put engine oil stop leak in my engine without asking me first, which no mechanic worth his salt would ever use as it could potentially damage your engine. The only productive thing that they did was the owner gave me a $100 check to cover the deductible cost for my transfer case repair. After that whole ordeal and speaking with them, I realized that their "mechanics" never even look at the vehicles, that as long as it drives they sign off that they checked it all when they clearly didn't. This place ought to be inspected by the better business bureau and shut down. These are only the major problems I had, not to mention all of the minor problems or difficulties in dealing with them, far too many to write. Do yourself a favor and don't even visit their lot. read more

Horrible Horrible experience with office staff. Purchased vehicle on 12/31/2016. Live out of state only in Reno few months so car needed to be titled in NC. Temp tags were only for 15 days. Temp tags expired before the paperwork was ever even submitted. The paperwork was apparently not even sent to title clerk until week of 1/24. Went to local DMV, spoke with salesman in Reno at Carzone, he said he would fax over copy of title. He sent the title from the previous owners!!!- did not even have carzone on it, seriously!? Naturally I could not get tags. Local NC DMV told me what I needed, can not do anything w/out title. Took 2 weeks to connect with Sheila the title clerk. Finally got her on 1/31/2017 one month later. She was rude condescending and cursed at me, dropped a G@#damn on me- told me she was done talking to me and hung up. I was treated as if I was stupid and had never purchased a car. Told me NC DMV office did not know what they were doing and neither did I. I am in my 50's have purchased many many vehicles out of state and have never ever had this problem. Never in my life have I been treated like an idiot and talked to in such a manner by any business much less a business where I have just spent nearly 18,000.00! Unbelievable. Shelia should be removed from that office. Speaking to customers like that, cursing at them is unacceptable. I see now that this dealer has an F rating from the BBB. Wish I had known that before purchasing from them. The vehicle also was sold with bald tires they would not replace, and brake problems they will not address told me once you drive it off the lot it is yours. STAY AWAY! read more

My husband and I bought a used vehicle from CarZone about a month ago. We found one we really liked. Rich, our salesman, was very friendly and didn't put any pressure on us which we appreciated. He went and got the keys so we could take it for a drive. The battery was dead, so they put a brand new one in. After our test drive we looked it over as we walked around it, kicked the tires a little, then went into the office to take care of all the purchasing paperwork. Because of having a new battery put in, it needed to be driven about 50 miles before the computer would reset in order for it to pass the smog test, so they told us to bring it back in a few days. The next day as we were driving it around our neighborhood we noticed some rather loud click/clack sounds coming from both back wheels that we hadn't heard before because we had neglected to roll down the windows during the test drive. We also found that the clock reset to 1:00 every time we turned the key off, the inside lights didn't work, the back window wouldn't roll down, and when we opened the moon roof we couldn't get it to close. Wanting to save money, we had declined any warranty protection, and our receipt specified that the vehicle was being sold "as is" so we didn't expect that the dealership would do anything about it. However, since we needed to bring the car back for the smog test we figured that we should at least mention some of the problems we had discovered. We both felt a little sheepish about it since we brought the car "as is", but we ended up telling them about the moonroof, the back window, and the clock. They were very nice about it, and told us that they wanted us to be happy customers and that they would make it right! After it passed the smog test, they made an appointment for us to bring it back for the repairs. As we were driving it off the lot, Pablo (the General Manager) heard the click/clack sounds coming from the back wheels. He didn't have to say anything, but he kindly motioned for us to stop the car. He added the wheel noise problem as another item to be worked on at our upcoming maintenance appointment. We couldn't believe it! We were both very happy and felt so much better about our purchase! After we got the car back from the repairs (at NO additional charge) we were elated! Everything works as it should, and we absolutely love our new vehicle! Pablo is a great manager who realizes that taking care of his customers helps make his business stronger. We were treated exceptionally by everyone there, and we highly recommend CarZone to anyone looking for a nice used vehicle. read more

I came to Reno to do some car shopping because of all of four wheel drive selection. After stopping by a few dealerships on the main road I almost called it quits. Carzone had a Mercedes GL that was my last stop. I wish I would've stopped here first because they were friendly and not pushy at all. We went over the carfax and my car had a ton of service history that they pointed out to me. Pablo and Nate really knew their product which made me feel very comfortable with my purchase. The deal I got was at a price that was much more reasonable than the other dealers according to Kelly blue book. I would recommend these guys to my family. read more

Worst "Car Lot" in town. I put car lot in quotes because it could be compared to a large willow tree. Shady. I have stepped on this lot in multitude. Several times just looking at inventory other times as a serious buyer with no salesman in sight. Don't get me wrong, I love a salesman that isn't heckling at first sight but after 30 minutes to no avail, we gave up. This last time, was my final straw. Living 45 minutes from Reno, I filled out an online application as to not waste my time. I had to call back a day later to check in, they never called me. The sales manager Paul said he would need to appraise my trade in and "sorry I was going to call you later." My husband and I drove into town with the sole purpose of trading in the vehicle. Upon stepping on the lot "Paul" was no where to be found. Eddy, mentioned we are very understaffed and doing the best we can. After the initial appraisal Eddy left us sitting outside for 20 minutes because all computers were being used. As someone who came from customer service, "understaffed" is the most unprofessional word you can use directed at a customer. Eddy then showed how bad he wanted to go home. Bringing out a Karpower appraisal for 4,000 less than what my vehicle is worth. The exact same vehicles sitting on the lot are priced at TEN thousand more than he was offering me. "Paul" who I'm sure is fictional by now, made it seem they were willing to work the deal. I hope Eddy got to go home and have a nice meal, because any more of these reviews and they surely will be out of business. I am officially done with this crap hole. This place is awful. I bought my vehicle two months ago. My gut was telling me NO. However they got me. First off, dealership handed my one smart key, with no spare or actual key to insert if the battery went out. The dealership lied to me and told me that they would cut my a copy at no charge. Never happened! Ended up having to go through the actual car brand dealership. Noticed an engine oil leak due to an improper fitting of the oil plug (which I guarantee came from their maintenance crew) put on some cheap cheap tires. Had all four tire valve stems broken and a defective windshield. Which I should have not driven off at the time because the tpms light was on. It may have been my poor judgement at the time of purchase however looking back I would NEVER recommend this place for anyone to buy a used vehicle. Do not trust this place. So far I have spent a sum of hundreds within the two months because of their untrustworthy business they run. They don't care about you or any of their cars they sell. Obviously! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! NO STARS!!!! Accidentally pushed one star and could not undo it. They are unprofessional and dishonest. This is my experience with them and it is a long one. Please read all of it. I went with my niece and her husband to buy a car. They had been looking for a while and decided to look here. They were looking to put a large cash down payment on a vehicle and finance a small amount to build their credit. They found a vehicle they liked for $16995.00. Asked what a full cash price would be and they said they could take $1000.00 off for all cash. I suggested to finance to build credit. So they put $14000.00 down and financed the rest. With tax and all their fees it would of been about $5400.00 to finance. So they signed all the paperwork with the understanding that a bank approved them for the loan. Well, this was untrue come to find out 20 days later. They received a letter from the bank on the contract that they were denied the loan. The letter was dated the same day that the contract was signed. My niece did all the DMV paperwork cause they live in California and wanted it done quickly. They brought the DMV paperwork back to Carzone 9 days after contract was signed. Carzone knew on this day that financing did not go through with bank on contract. My niece did not know. They never said anything. She had asked to give DMV paperwork directly to Manager Pablo but apparently he was too busy. 20 days after contract was signed she received the denial letter from bank. Then she received 3 more denial letters from different banks. Each time she called Carzone and had to leave messages for Pablo with no call backs from him. Finally, they answered a call from my niece's husband. Derrick, manager of finance,told him to send the contract monthly payment to them, then in 2 months of doing this they (my niece and her husband) could go find their own financing. WHAT???? Myself and my niece called and finally talked with Derrick, Manager of Finance, we asked him to explain the situation. I asked if we could re negotiate the price by taking off some of Carzone's processing fees and he laughed and said "that's not how it works". We went in to talk to Pablo in person on the day before they first payment was due ( 45 days after date of contract) He told us same thing pay them first 2 payments and then find own financing. I asked him do they report to credit bureau about payments and he said no but we will give you a letter of recommendation. What would that do for their credit score, NOTHING. We then asked to pay off the vehicle in CASH, can we negotiate a cash price and he said "It is no longer a cash transaction cause you signed a contract". WOW! So they asked what the pay off amount would be and he told them and walked away. No hand shake, thank you or anything. So they paid them the full amount. So in conclusion, I wanted to write a review to tell the whole story cause I have purchased many vehicles in my life and never have I ever dealt with such unprofessional, horrible customer service company and will be telling EVERYONE I know of this experience with this company. read more

Yes used cars has flaws but why am I gonna pay 15,000 after 3 years for a car that's going for 9,000 and then have to fix things before driving away in it blue book value is less then what they want at the lot, I found the same car a little more miles for less Not worth the time or hassle unless everything is in working conditions and they know more about their cars on the lot do not bother. This review is long over due. Whatever you do DO NOT buy a car from Carzone. I bought my son a 2008 SUV in Feb. of 2017. Within 3 weeks of purchasing the car, we had to put $900 into it to replace all of the fluids and spark plugs. It is now August 2017 and just spent another $1200 in repairs on the car. I spoke to the manager of car zone a couple of times after we purchased it to tell them how much I had spent on repairs within the first 3 weeks of owning the car. He told me he was going to check with the owner on getting some reimbursement for it, but, made no promises. I asked twice about it and he never followed through and talked to the owner (never communicated anything to me anyways). Go to CarMax. Bought a car for my daughter recently and was the best car buying experience ever. Don't waste your time with Carzone. The worst used car lot I have ever dealt with in my entire life. We had a deal on a car for over $12,247 . Told the salesman let me think it over and came back the next morning told them I would take it. The sales manager told me that was yesterday's price and it would be 13,000. After talking with friends on Facebook I had three friends that dealt with them and all three of them said the cars were broken down within a year. If you're reading this car zone thank you so much I ended up finding the best car for my 17-year-old son and I'm upset with myself that I even bought a car from you two years ago. I'm even thinking about buying a banner and having one of my driver stand in front of your car lot for a whole week it'll be worth $1000 trust me. We were told to go to Car Zone, because they had one for sale that was in our budget and was supposedly pretty decent. So we went to CarZone the North one and they directed us to the other one, (on Kietzke, they have two dealership there, but this is about the South one), we found the truck and waited a few minutes for someone to come out and help us. We naturally wanted to test drive the truck first. A salesman comes out finally and asks us our names and asks if he could help us. My guy tells him we are looking for a Duramax and would like to test drive the one they have. The salesman informs us "The other store is new and they don't understand our policies but, ( Ok at this point let me just say I was ready to leave because he was so rude in just saying that piece) our policy is that we don't let anyone test drive our vehicles that are not in the market to buy." ( while looking at us like we are the scum of the earth). WTF?? My guy looks at him in shock and simply tells him "Ok I will just go buy from someone else then.", and the dealer replies with " We don't like to waste our time." and walks away. I told him I thought he was being very rude and I was told that he didn't really care. So, yes I'm sorry, I called him him a d*ck and left. Now the problem is, is how do you judge a person like that? We are clean cut average people, nothing special but nothing bad. Needless to say I will never purchase from nor recommend CarZone. I have been in Reno my whole life and have never been treated so poorly. I felt like I was in that scene in Pretty Woman (lol) where the store refuses to sell her a dress. In the end we went to Infinity of Reno where we were treated with so much respect and kindness that I was blown away by the amazing customer service and have decided that this is where I will be making any and all vehicle purchases from. read more

My nitro that i had was totaled so i had to go look for a new car. A friend from work had recently gotten a new truck from this place a month prior so i thought id check it out. I went and found a car that i liked but when trying to purchase it they told me id need at least 3500 down because of my credit plus the payments would be almost $600 on a $13995 dollar car. I told i would be getting a cosigner who has better credit. I have my cosigner go with me a few days later and the car i wanted was sold but its ok because i found another one that i like better. It was 14995. After trying to purchase it yet again they were telling me we still had to put another 1000 down on top of the 1000 i had and that was just cutting it to have the car soley in my dads name without me on it because of my credit and if i wanted to be on the car also they would need a total of 3500 down with a high car payment, but i thought they advertised on their website that even if you had no credit, bad credit, good credit no one will work harder to get you finiaced because with them your job is your credit. After purchasing the car in my dads name after leaving the dealership a day later i got pulled over and got a fix it ticket to find out one of my brakes lights is out and a co worker informed me a day after that one of my reverse lights is out. You would think that when they do vehicle inspections and detailing that thats something they would have looked at and fixed. Oh and did i mention when i let the car lot my gas tank was on empty and they wouldn't put gas in it. The guys are rude to you after you purchase the car. Will never buy from them again. Contrary to the other reviews, I had a great experience here. Their prices are great. So great I didn't feel the need to bargain with them over the price. Pablo found me an excellent loan option, though I ended up using my own financing, it was for the same APR as Pablo got me. Martin, my salesperson, was, I think, new to the business, but over all he did a good job. The only downside was the time it took to complete the sale. I will say that this Auto Dealer is different than most I have gone to. I walked around the lot for at least fifteen minutes until someone approached me. That's ok by me. It gave me time to see what they had, pull up the cars I was interested on my Kelly Blue Book app and do some comparisons. Overall, I liked this, instead of some high pressure salesperson assaulting me the moment I walk on to the lot, trying to steer me towards a car I don't really want, I had the chance to compare what they had, research my options and make my own choice. I have already recommended them to friends and I just bought my car there today. Unethical and fraudulent are the two best words to describe this so called "business" These guys lie and put vehicles on the lot that they know have problems. I bought a truck from these people only to notice a knock in the engine and metal in the oil the next morning after I took it home. I took it back to them and the manager claimed there was no metal in the oil and the timing chain was bad which they replaced. After the change I found more metal on the oil dipstick and showed it to him, since i had just caught them in a lie. They also said if there was something major wrong we could cancel the deal. I asked for it in writing and never got it, also asked to put in writing that the timing chain was bad and they fixed it, never got that in writing. Then in the course of them having the truck they broke the window regulator with my passenger window stuck down. I was told that they would not replace it for 3-4 days. I had to pay for it out of pocket and they will not repay me for that. The starter has began to act up now. Please do not make the mistake of going to these people.
