Summed up: Homemade, authentic, and relaxed. The best friend and hubby went with me tonight to try this place out. I am ashamed to say we live less than a mile from here and never went inside because the dark tinting on the windows made us think it looked sketchy. Turns out, there is a good reason for the tint... in the afternoon/early evening, the sun is directly blasting the front of the restaurant. The inside of this restaurant is clean, dim, and has crazy color changing LED lights on the bar at night. There's a jukebox that you can pay to use, and has everything from Sia to Latin music on it (although you might get mean mugged out of the restaurant if you play Sia... I played Buena Vista Social Club and Gipsy Kings, and received a few smiles and nods from the bar). I should mention, we were the only non-latinos in the restaurant... which immediately made me excited about their food. I'm so tired of tex mex, that I can't even put it into words. Atlanta has a serious shortage of authentic Mexican food (aside from taquerias). This place fills a void that I've been bemoaning for years. Service was friendly, efficient, and informative, but she spoke ZERO english. I highly suggest coming with someone who has a working knowledge of conversational/food related Spanish. I could see this being a frustrating experience otherwise. Kitchen is also a little slow... so come in here for a relaxing meal- not when you are on a time crunch. They sell beer only, so even though their menu says they have margaritas, I suspect their liquor license isn't up to date, and they won't serve them. Onto the food... We ate: Queso dip w/jalapeños- REALLY good cheese dip in a portion size so generous that three of us cheese lovers still had a quarter of the bowl left after all was said and done. Chips aren't anything special, but weren't stale either. Cheese pupusas- Yummmmm. Homemade corn tortillas stuffed with delicious cheese and served with what is essentially pickled cabbage & carrots, and a side of something similar to enchilada sauce. Even if the rest of our meal had been awful, I would still be back for these. Absolutely delightful. Flautas- Basically giant taquitos, if you don't know what flautas are. The chicken inside was pretty dry and flavorless, however, the fry was perfect and the flavors of the surrounding items (queso, beans with what I think is mole mixed in, Pico, and Spanish rice) added enough flavor to make up for the lack of flavor in the filling. Chimichanga- Perfectly fried, the flavor on the beef filling was so tasty, chicken was a little bland but super moist. Plato Tipico- My plate consisted of scrambled eggs with peppers and onions (and deliciously flavorful at that) , small blocks of crumbly cheese, some avocado, Spanish rice, beans, maduros (sweet fried plantains), and what the waitress referred to as chicarrones. I was slightly confused because the only chicarrones I've ever had have been fried to a crisp and are usually pork skins... these were like REALLY well fried carnitas. They were incredibly delicious flavorwise but hard and super dry inside... in fact, I would say really overcooked. However- the plantains were some of the best I've ever had, and the beans were delicious with the addition of the mole... but the real hero to this dish are their incredible homemade corn tortillas that come with it. Overall, this plate was an excellent exploratory mission in opposing flavors (sweet, salty, savory) and varying textures... and was so plentiful that I struggled to finish even half. Apparently this dish is actually an El Salvadoran breakfast plate... but I definitely ate it for a Friday night dinner and would do so again (I'll pull the pale face card and say I don't know any better). All of us left feeling beyond full, and totally happy with our meal choices. I will be back... and with friends and family.

I have never in my life had Americanized Thai food (or at least been conscience of it) but this tasted every bit of that. Not a single Thai national or descendant cooking or dining in here... I should have slid out the door upon noticing this but we were HONGRY and this place was walking distance. I appreciate the big portions to help alleviate the hunger, but the food going down wasn't even close to a real Thai experience. And the general ambience was definitely off. It's unclear whether this is a casual to-go spot or a sit-down spot or a bar. The service here was confusing. You have to order drinks separately from your food, for one. Secondly, it took a solid 10 minutes for a bartender to walk behind the bar and begrudgingly explain to me what they have available. I would have ordered more but her attitude made me close the tab after one beer. We didn't get served water until after we received our food, a solid 15-20 min after being in the restaurant. It generally felt like no one wanted to be there, and the staff were just moving independently to complete tasks instead of creating a dining experience *together*. There was not a smile from a single person I interacted with. I'd most likely not return purely because the dining experience is just plain out uncomfortable. On to the food. Mostly oil and noodles except for the papaya salad, which was... okay. Again, big portions. Nice heat. But just okay. The whole cherry tomatoes on top were a little weird and screamed laziness. The tofu kee mao was... okay. Same for the chicken pad thai. Lots of oil. This food made us feel pretty tired after eating it, which I've rarely experienced eating Thai cuisine. And they were very, very stingy with the protein. My husband counted 4-5 little slivers of chicken and hella noodles. The same was true for my tofu dish. I mean... it's tofu y'all. Cheap. But I can imagine they have to cut these corners because there were about 8 staff members running around in a small space with only a few customers in for happy hour. They do have HH deals on drinks depending on the day, but I found the drinks to be overpriced and not worth it. Especially the beer. And a $10 non-alcoholic cocktail is wild imo, especially for the scanty area this area is in. They are certainly milking the fact that they are in eyeshot of the Mercedes Benz stadium. The inside is beautiful and very ~trendy~ and honestly that tells me exactly where the focus is. I'd rate this a 2, but I'm adding a star for the spotless restrooms.

The 8-course Omakase ($225) was beautifully presented & each dish showcased great attention to detail and artistry. The atmosphere and impeccable service made for a memorable evening. My husband and I had dinner here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and boy were we in for a surprise. First and foremost, they sent us parking and driving instructions prior to our visit. Someone from the restaurant greeted us where the parking area is and walked us to the restaurant. I don't want to spoil much of the surprise but service here is impeccable. It seats maybe 10 and we received the best service imaginable. I love the little touches like putting a hook to the seat so you can hang your purse and providing a menu of the different food items we were eating with a "passport" stamp of when the food we were consuming arrived! But now onto the food... Again, I don't want to ruin the experience for everyone but I would like to point out that their dishes are very good and so fresh. We've tried other omakase restaurants and this place doesn't just serve sushi rolls, the food their serve takes on a journey or the different specialties Japan has to offer. Our personal favorites were the sawara from the zen garden course (the pickled ramp was such an interesting and inventive addition that made this way better), nama uni from the gai course (some quality uni that I would be dreaming about for days to come) and Chu-toro from the nigiri course (it was the right amount of fat for my personal preference). The Yaki sakana and sukiyaki courses were my favorites because of all the flavors these courses delivered. This was definitely on a pricier end for $255 per person, plus drinks - their cocktails were $20 each, they have a great selection of sake/wine as well. For me, this was a 4.5/5 stars as some of the food items were a miss, like all the seaweeds and octopus were meh. I also thought the uni rice was too sour for my taste. Other than that, everything was exceptional.

My birthday dinner started as a comedy of errors and ended as one of the best restaurant…read moreexperiences of my life -- thanks to a general manager named Matthew. Here's the setup: I made a 7:15 reservation, got confirmation texts, even replied when they texted asking where we were. We walked into a packed house at 7:30 -- and the front desk had no record of us. Turns out my reservation was at their OTHER location 20 miles away, and nothing in the texts identified which one. We had tickets to a show at 8:00 the next night's... no time to drive anywhere. Birthday dinner circling the drain. Enter Matthew, the general manager. He didn't make excuses or hide behind policy. He called my name across a crowded lobby, gave it to me straight -- "the answer's not good" -- and then found the answer anyway: two seats at the end of the bar, full menu. Done. And then he didn't disappear. All night we watched this man work the room, help the kitchen, and at one point he was in the back personally mashing the potatoes. We even discovered our birthdays are one day apart. As he put it: things like that happen for a reason. Now the food, because it earned its own paragraph. Bison bone-in ribeye -- fantastic, cooked perfectly. Garlic mashed potatoes (Matthew-mashed, possibly) and roasted asparagus were excellent. My wife's bison meatloaf with wedge salad and roasted carrots was top notch. "Salt-and-pepper onion rings to start -- which Matthew sent out on the house -- get them. And the blueberry cheesecake, also on the house for the birthday, did not disappoint." Our waitress Nara was attentive and sharp, and sitting at the end of the bar face-to-face with the kitchen crew turned dinner into dinner theater -- those folks are genuinely funny. And the encore: thirty minutes into our show across town, my wife realized she'd left her earphones at the restaurant. Before she could even get back -- Matthew had already sent a young man to FIND US at the venue and return them. He spotted me by my loud and proud Mount Rushmore shirt. A reservation mix-up that wasn't even this location's fault, and they treated us like family anyway. That's not policy, that's character. Matthew, Nara, and the whole crew turned a birthday disaster into a birthday story we'll tell for years. Five stars isn't enough.

Everything was DELICIOUS. The scallion bubble pancake came out HOT, like hurt-to-touch HOT. It was crispy and airy. It was served with a side of mild curry sauce. The noodles, lamb, and eggplant came out hot temperature-wise as well, but they were also hot spice-wise, especially the cumin lamb. The spice levels cleared my sinuses, LOL. But though I struggled with the spice, I kept on eating because all of the dishes were delicious and flavorful. The tender lamb was served on little skewers. The dry fried eggplant was super crispy; the pieces were shaped like spicy fries. I liked Grandma's noodles even more. The noodles had that bouncy, chewy, hand-pulled feel and were covered in vinegar & hot chili oil. I appreciated the portions. Despite being an appetizer, Grandma's Noodles came out on a large plate, and for being small plates, the eggplant and lamb were pretty filling. The service was also friendly and attentive. My food came out quick, and the staff constantly kept my glass of water filled. My only annoyance was the $1 charge for the bowl of white rice, but the food and service more than made up for that small, inexpensive annoyance.
