Mole plate. Rice, beans and flour tortillas.

First time at Casa Chida. Thanks to a friend that is a regular. We had a wonderful time eating out in the patio and watching the game. We had so many appetizers that did not disappoint. The agua chile, esquite, friend bean and ceviche were our favorites. Tried their mole and it I enjoyed it. The serving sizes are very generous so be ready to eat here. The staff and owner were friendly and attentive. The space is very hip with a twist of Spanish hacienda. Cute, nostalgic and hip all around.

We visited this spot for the first time since its latest transformation, having known it previously as Home and Ivanhoe. The new owners have given the space a nice cosmetic refresh, though the patio remains as inviting as ever. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and chose to sit inside. Despite it being a Sunday evening, the atmosphere was relaxed and uncrowded. Our server, Jessica, was fantastic--friendly and attentive. I tried the Beef Birria Torta, which reminded me of the savory lechon sandwich from Porto's, paired with some truly delicious Mexican potatoes. My wife enjoyed her Avocado & Mushroom Hard Taco, though she noted the shell was a standard American-style hard taco rather than an authentic taco dorado. A tip on the drinks: I'd recommend sticking with the Jamaica, which was great for $6. However, I'd suggest skipping the La Playa Verde Mocktail. We paid $12 for a glass that was 3/4 filled with ice (as you can see in my photo), which felt like a poor value compared to the Jamaica. We capped the night with a delicious flan since they were out of tres leches. As they are still in their soft opening, I'd love to see café de olla added to the menu! Overall, great service and solid food.

I came here with my Bf last night to try it out since it changed from Ivanhoe to Casa Chida and we were sat in a really small table since it was just us two. There weren't a lot of people on the inside and I was expecting to sit at a bigger table because in our table we could barely fit our drinks, waters, and our appetizers which were just chips so I was worried our main course would not fit in the table. The server was mumbling his words so it was so hard to understand him as well as the way he was tending to us when I would ask a question about the menu he seemed to be sarcastically questioning my question like he was unsure of the menu itself. He served us the chips and salsa and beans which was a small portion of the dips so my bf and I were hungry so once we finished it no one came to us for awhile to get our order and asked if we wanted more chips and salsa. He then took our order and after 10 mins he said our food would take 30-40 mins to cook which I just ordered a carne asada plate and my bf ordered a chicken enchilada. He mumbled the reason why it was gonna take a long time and just walked off. We ended up ordering more chips and guacamole because the food was taking so long and we were hungry. After 40 mins of waiting my bf and I were getting full off of chips and water that when the main meal got to our table we were not enjoying our food anymore. The food was okay, carne asada and chile relleno was salty and the rice was so little. They had a big group of people outside that came after we got seated and I feel like they were prioritized before us which was honestly annoying while we sat there waiting for someone to ask if we needed something or just check in on us after waiting that long. I probably would not have this place at the top of my list that I would eat at again.

Took the hubby here for a family dinner and was not disappointed. The food is amazing. The service was great and the decor even better. This place has been various things, and I feel like the new owners will be successful and hoping it remains authentic Mexican cuisine. One thing that especially stuck out was they weren't stingy with any sides and salsas. The layout is pretty much the same. I will be looking forward to booking their private dining area. It's a very cute spot and they altered themselves with the decor and the bar aesthetics. Plus the fireplace and water features outside give a calm and feng shui vibe. Thank you for having us and the large portions of food were a definite, plus!

Great food I loved the happy hour. Their carnitas pork sliders were so flavorful. Came with a side of chipotle dressing which was so yummy. The hibiscus margaritas were sweet and tangy at the same time. I loved everything. Great service, great music. Had a great time. Would totally recommend.

The food never disappoints. We've had the Molcajete, Asada plate and Carnitas plate. Food has amazing flavor. My wife loved the cantaritos drink and I liked the Con Amor beer. Waitress was great, friendly and attentive. The vibe of the place is great.

I remember when this was Home , Ivanhoe, and now Casa Chida. The restaurants before were always busy and served a great brunch. Not sure what happened and now they are a full on Mexican restaurant. I love Mexican food so I'm all for it! Which makes another good Mexican option for the area. We were a large group (party of 12) celebrating a birthday. We came in around 6:30 on a Tuesday night. They have live music on Tuesdays so that added a nice touch to the birthday ambiance. Especially when the guitarist played "happy birthday" Service was really great. Staff were constantly checking in and we all felt really taken care of. We tried the margaritas (classic and hibiscus) and they tasted fresh and delicious. Not overly strong, solid drinks. They also provide complimentary chips with salsa and bean dip. The bean dip was really good - had a little kick to it. We were all fans of it. We ordered the grilled Chiles plate for our appetizer- about 6 jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese, bacon , and cheese with a side of chipotle sauce. YUM- think jalapeño poppers but better. No photos because they were gone in a flash. Majority of us ordered the 3 taco combination plate comes with rice and beans, the carne asada plate, Molcajete, carnitas plate, and tomahawk. For your 3 tacos you can choose from a variety of proteins- mix and match. On Tuesdays it's $17, regular day $19. My fav that I tried was the carnitas taco. We all agreed the birria taco was overly salty. The carne asada was good and that chile relleno was very good. The Molcajete came out hot and paired with homemade tortillas. The tomahawk plate was huge and came with chorizo queso fundido - Yummy. They brought out dessert and sang happy birthday! It was a pretty positive night. I would love to come back and try them out for brunch. All in all, it's a cool new spot and I shall return!

Been here a couple of times and both were great experiences! Service was really good as well which definitely drew us to coming back! The chips and salsa + bean dip was really good. The salsa was warm which was different but tasted amazing esp when you dip it in both the bean dip and salsa. The burrito was good but it was just the meat and veggies - rice and beans were on the side but I think it would've been better inside the burrito. Still good and I liked how they gave half and half of each sauce. The owner was really nice and came up to our table multiple times too. The first time I went we sat inside bc it was raining but the second time we sat at a booth outside and it was such a vibe with the lights I really enjoyed it! Also good for a bigger group which can be hard to find in LA

Queso Fundido w chorizo, a bit too heavy for me.

The ambiance was nice, the service good, the margaritas tasty, but I was left wanting more from the food. My favorite item was the complimentary bean dip, which was delicious! Chilaquiles - 3 stars. I really didn't enjoy the taste of this at all. Queso Fundido - 3 stars. A bit too heavy and greasy, I didn't enjoy this much either. Tostada Salad - 3 1/2 stars. Best item of the brunch. This was good with a crispy and tasty shell, but the brown avocado was a turnoff for me. I think if a few of the menu items were tweaked a little this could be a really great addition to the Silverlake scene.

Guacamole Fresco $14 (serving is small)

I went for Sunday brunch and had a poor first impression, will likely not be back. - They don't allow tacos to be sold à la carte; they only come in a plate. - We ordered the Guacamole Fresco, which comes with chicharrones, but weren't told they were out until we saw it missing from the plate (see photo). They still charged us full price, $14, and I've had better guacamole. -The Mushroom Hard Tacos were OK, but they were not satisfying at all. One star was for the refried beans; it was the best thing I ate. The second star was for the free parking. Our meal cost $75.54, excluding tip. (See photo). Overall, I gave it a try, and I wish them the best of luck!

Hibiscus Margarita & Chida Margarita. Both tasty.

This location has been several incarnations over the years - Rudolpho's, Home, Ivanhoe, & now Casa Chida, which means cool house in Spanish. I must point out that the décor here is very cool. The vibe at the bar/lounge area is chill, and the Spanish music sets a festive mood. The dining room is spacious and the outdoor patio features cozy booths and a big screen tv. I met some friends here for Happy Hour on a Monday. I was pleasantly surprised to see that bartender Edgar was still here. (The new owners kept him from the previous establishment.) Happy Hour is from 3 - 6 pm and available anywhere in the restaurant, not just the bar. Every Monday Margaritas are on special all day. They also have deals for Taco Tuesday. We started with drinks and chips & salsa while contemplating our order. The chips were warm & fresh and came with Salsa Verde and creamy refried beans. Both dips were tasty. The Happy Hour Quesadilla contains Chicken Tinga ($13 HH). My friend ordered it, and I requested a plain cheese quesadilla. My other two friends had the Nachos ($10) & Carnitas Sliders ($9). The Quesadilla was loaded with cheese and came with a side of yummy guacamole. I really liked it. I also loved the margaritas. I had the Chida Margarita ($9 on Monday/$10 HH) and the Hibiscus Margarita ($11 on Monday/$12 HH). Both were delish and nicely balanced. The Hibiscus was a tad sweet for those who prefer a sweeter drink. My dining companions enjoyed their beverages and meals. Shout out to Edgar for taking great care of us. I have to say that out of the four incarnations Casa Chida is my favorite.

This restaurant truly goes above and beyond in every aspect. The service is exceptional, and the staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. One of the owners, Rafael, was especially kind and generous, making us feel right at home. The atmosphere is outstanding, with great music and a vibrant ambiance that makes the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. I ordered the carnitas plate with a side of their salsa roja, and it was absolutely delicious. The molcajete is a must-try--it delivers an incredible fusion of bold, authentic flavors. To top it all off, the Jalisco Mule is a fantastic cocktail that's definitely worth ordering. Overall, this was an amazing experience from start to finish, and I will absolutely be coming back. Highly recommend!

So happy to see this phoenix rise from the ashes. Still in its soft opening, but already knocking it out of the park. A little context: my best friend and I have been coming to this space through all its past lives--Rodolfo's, Home, Ivanhoe. We stopped toward the end, when things started slipping and the final concept felt like a tired last gasp. The banner alone was enough to send the message. So when Casa Chida started taking shape, we knew we'd be back. Today was the day. We came to celebrate what would have been my late mother's 70th birthday with a special brunch, and after spotting pozole verde on the menu, the decision made itself. Right away, seeing familiar faces from the Home and Ivanhoe days felt like a good omen. Chris was our server--still just as warm and gracious as ever (muito obrigado). Then the chips, salsa verde, and frijoles fritos hit the table, and it was clear: this place is legit and not messing around. I started with the pozole verde. Delicious. Bold, layered, and dangerously close to rivaling my own. There's a subtle spice in there I can't quite place--nutmeg, maybe? Whatever it is, it works. I'm already plotting a return trip just for another bowl. We also shared elote and taquitos. Both were strong. The shredded beef taquitos were especially good--rich, moist, and paired perfectly with the roasted salsa and guacamole. The elote was exactly what you want it to be--como si fuera de un elotero en las calles de la CDMX. The only miss for me was the huevos rancheros. The house sauce didn't quite match the depth and richness of everything else, and the tortilla leaned too crisp--more tostada than lightly fried. That said, the potatoes and beans on the plate were excellent. The $18 bottomless mimosas are a standout--great value and a fun spread of flavors. They use bottled Opera Prima rather than house-made, but honestly, at that price point, it works. The peach Bellini and blackberry were the favorites. The margaritas, on the other hand, are the real deal--made from scratch, smooth, and dangerously easy to drink. No neon sweet-and-sour nonsense here. These are legit, and they sneak up on you in the best way. For dessert, the churros didn't quite read as house-made, but they were still light, fluffy, and satisfying. The real star was the ice cream--rolled in what tasted like crispy fried cornflakes (or maybe fried churro bits?) and drizzled with caramel. That combination elevated the whole plate and made it worth ordering. We had a chance to chat with Rafael, one of the owners, and Ramon, the GM--both welcoming, present, and clearly invested. The official grand opening is set for May 1, just in time for Cinco de Mayo and Mother's Day. They've got live music and a DJ on weekends, with plans for comedy nights. The patio is spacious and relaxed--perfect for long, easy brunches. A Latin jazz band during the day would fit here beautifully. Bottom line: this place is back, and it matters. We'll be returning--again and again.

The menu is quite simple, but beware that no prices are listed on the main menu, but they are on the paper menus. They accept Apple Pay/credit cards. I ordered the asada burrito and the pollo caramelo and added the grilled poblano (as recommended on Yelp!). The tortillas were the true stars -- soft, nice chew, with a buttery mouth feel (probably lard). The fillings were just ok. The inside reminded me of a Taco Bell 7 layer burrito -- a lot going on but all the flavors kinda blend together. I (incorrectly) thought the beans were refried, but they are not. Whatever is going on inside, I didn't find much structure. The burrito was the best. The caramelo was a lazily folded burrito. I read that it was like a quesadilla, but I couldn't disagree more. I would skip this next time. I spent $25 and it was a lot of food, but I wasn't impressed, especially given the hype and the fact that LA should really be the pinnacle of Mexican food. Not sure if I'll make a second trip here.

The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

Located between Koreatown and Pico-Union, this restaurant delivers an outstanding dining experience from the moment you're seated. My wife and I both ordered the Mole Coloradito with chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. One detail we really appreciated was being able to choose between white meat or dark meat--a thoughtful touch that lets you customize your meal to your preference. The mole was rich, complex, and full of flavor, exactly what you would hope for from a restaurant known for its Oaxacan specialties. As a welcome appetizer, they bring fresh chips and salsa to the table, but what really impressed us was when they replaced the salsa with their incredible mole sauce. It was so good we found ourselves dipping everything into it. Both meals were served with rice that was perfectly cooked with a great consistency and flavor. For those feeling adventurous, give the Chapulines (grasshoppers) a try. They may sound intimidating, but they were surprisingly enjoyable and added to the authentic experience. The staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and patient with those of us who are not fluent in Spanish. Their hospitality made us feel comfortable and welcomed throughout our visit. Great food, authentic flavors, and wonderful service make Guelaguetza a restaurant we'll definitely be returning to. Highly recommended!

As soon as you walk up the stairwell you'll be transported into this super cute place with an outdoor-indoor feel, almost like an elegant treehouse. We were seated on the second level which provided a Birds Eye view of the restaurant. We ordered a few items to share: Cameron ceviche, flautas and for our sweet tooth, French toast paired with a mango sorbet surprise with a candle for our birthdays (tip: we drizzled the melted sorbet on our French toast and took small scoops with each bite - game changer!). Everything was so delicious! We also ordered mocktails, a miche-nada for him and a lemony drink for me. This experience wouldn't have been as great without the exceptional service we had. Our waters were always refilled without asking, our tables were cleaned with every dish, honestly top-notch service! Parking can be a bit challenging but drive around a few blocks and you'll find a few spaces. Worth the walk after an incredible meal. Happy eating!

While it is definitely on the pricier side, the flavors are extremely unique and delicious, making it worth the splurge for a special night out. My only real bummer was discovering they took the vegan ceviche off the menu--that was actually the whole reason I came back! I'm sure they have their reasons, but I was pretty disheartened to see it go. Overall, the menu doesn't have a ton of vegan items, but they do have some room for adjustments if you ask. Despite the menu change, the incredible atmosphere and unique menu still make it a must-try.

And I live in Portland, which has really good vegetarian options. First of all, I could eat like 75% or more of the menu as a pescatarian. I was thrilled and so overwhelmed because I normally don't have that many choices! First of all, the water was infused and was delicious. I browsed the menu and had a really hard time deciding, but ended up on the cauliflower rajas taco, the crispy shrimp taco & the vegan Korean BBQ taco. The waiter recommended the crispy shrimp taco, but I actually enjoyed the vegetarian tacos more. I love cauliflower and poblano so that taco was a great starter. So much flavor and a variety of textures. The tortillas were super flavorful too. The potato taquitos came next and I am actually obsessed. The outside was perfectly crispy, the interior was soft, flavorful & cheesy. The sauce complimented it perfectly. I can not recommend them enough. The crispy shrimp taco was really good, but I also tried a crispy fish taco and would honestly get that over the shrimp. I think there was mango or something in the coleslaw of the fish taco because it had a really nice fresh flavor to it. Last, I had the vegan Korean BBQ taco. The mushroom shreds & the flavor were just perfect. Again, as a pescatarian I have really never had Korean BBQ because it's so heavily meat focused. I truly loved this taco. If I hadn't discovered it on my last night in LA, I might've come back on my short trip. The whole place is just a vibe and the food was beyond excellent.

The building is an original piece of the City's history, boasting a menu that features their famous burritos that vary in size from a regular to a huge party size beast that can feed several. I tried the Hollenbeck and the Okie burritos on two separate occasions via pick up, as aforementioned, the service was quick, convenient and the pick up window is seamless, parking is located next to the structure and I haven't had problems getting there. Hollenbeck was good but I definitely enjoyed the Okie burrito more, I ordered the "original" size once and didn't seem to learn my lesson the second time, these burritos can feed two in Original size. They offer a "Mini" version which would be satisfactory for one person. My favorite thing about these burritos is how "home-made" they are, the salsas and meats are fresh and taste like they came out of an abuelitas kitchen. I still need to try the crunchy tacos and nachos which look great, I recommend trying this classic establishment at least once if you're in the area.

Didn't care much for the rice/beans but not bad. Comes with blue corn tortillas, but honestly the octopus and almond sauce (think b*tchin' sauce) were delicious. Great cherry tomato pico de gallo. Scallop aguachile - wowwww the scallops were so fresh, literally bursting is my mouth. They were sweet, tender, and perfectly paired with the tangy lime sauce. Taco de pulpo - ok so this is pretty much an assembled pulpo à la brasas, BUT I will say the full meal was more tender because it was an entire grilled piece of grilled vs one tentacle. If with a group, def recommend getting the entree to split vs individual tacos. Smoked kanoachi tostado - delicioussssss the smoked kanoachi (amberjack) was the perfect glue for the ceviche. Another banger. I was at capacity at this point, but the only change I'd make is swapping the taco de pulpo for the ahi tostado. So really, Holbox did everything right, and was so good it's gaslighting me into how I could have ordered more strategically.
