We arrived for brunch on a Sunday greeted by a festive patio environment with a DJ. The food was mostly good, the highlights being the refried beans, salsas, and nopales tacos. I would have rated this four or five stars, but unfortunately our server looked at us sourly after an awkward moment of adding a tip on the spot due to the portable credit charge machines they carry. Also, there's a 3% kitchen service fee, which is essentially another restaurant adding a junk fee. First, my girlfriend tipped, but we tend to calculate before tax and we remove the junk fees. This took a moment for her to figure out, as opposed to choosing the calculated (after tax) options. There are other restaurants that have the percentages calculated based on the subtotal, so this practice is not unusual. We left a $10 tip for a tab that was around $60 after taxes. Our server's disappointment was obvious. What also struck me is I smiled at her on the way to the restroom, but she avoided eye contract and frowned. I understand that we're all facing tough economic times and I do sympathize with service workers, as I too also rely on tips for my own income. However, we didn't deserve to be treated this way. I could understand if we were really cheap or didn't leave a tip at all, but that was not the case. It's too bad because the service was great until the tip became an issue. As far as junk fees goes, many restaurants do this by offsetting costs. Again, I get it, but perhaps just have the added costs of running of a business applied to the individual items themselves. Raise your prices by 3%. Otherwise the additional fee that is easy to miss seems arbitrary and a little sneaky. I wouldn't say avoid this place. I actually liked it despite a couple issues. Unfortunately, we live in a time where these things could have happened anywhere. I can only wish our server the best, but personally as a customer and service worker, I would recommend reserving the display of displeasure to those that truly have earned it. read more

This was my first time trying this restaurant for brunch with some school colleagues. The bottomless mimosas are for two hours (but our server let us go way over the time limit) and they are not champagne mimosas but more of a sparkling fruit wine. Being that I've passed through here many times, I finally decided to stop by and give it a try on my own. As a Latino, it's always great seeing new Mexican restaurants come to life, you hope they bring great food, service, and atmosphere. I try to keep my reviews honest, just sharing my experience. I ordered the guacamole fresca, which comes with chips and is supposed to include chicharrones. Unfortunately, the chicharrones weren't included, and it wasn't mentioned, which was a bit disappointing. The portion of chips also felt a little small for the amount of guacamole. I also noticed in other reviews that others received complimentary chips, salsa, and a bean dip, which wasn't brought out to me during my visit..so I wasn't sure if that depends on certain hours of the day or something else ? Lol But other than that the guacamole was flavorful, fresh and overall delicious. For my entrée, I ordered the asada plate with a chile relleno, beans, rice, and corn tortillas. The asada was really flavorful, just cooked a bit more than my personal preference, but still pretty tender. The beans were good, and everything paired well together. The only part that didn't hit for me was the rice. It felt a bit dry and under seasoned. I feel like sides should be able to stand alone so if it's not at least in the same conversation as abuela's, you're gonna notice, id love for that to be improved cause i love me some mexican rice! For dessert, I ordered the churro ice cream, which isn't listed on the menu. When I asked my server what desserts were available, I was only told "flan or ice cream," so I didn't really know what to expect. What came out was actually a churro ice cream dessert rolled in a crispy wafer-like coating and topped with chocolate sauce. Honestly, it was probably the best ice cream dessert I've had. Everything complemented each other perfectly. Probably the star of the night for me. Overall, there were a few small things with communication and consistency that could be improved, but the flavors are there and I enjoyed most of the meal. I know the restaurant is still very new and has only been open for about 3 months, so I'm looking forward to seeing how things continue to improve and come together. Just went here for the second time recently with my family, after trying it when they first opened, and we were all very impressed. I remember the parking being more chaotic the first time we went there, but it was much smoother this time, and it's free valet parking which is important because there is no street parking at all near the restaurant. The food is very good. I've enjoyed everything I've tried so far. The service is friendly and attentive. Great vibes, indoor and outdoor, very comfortable, and great music. This place has so much potential. It's such a beautiful place with a great outdoor patio. The problem is that the food is inconsistent. We been here 3 times and each different time the quality of the food varies. Sometimes the food is great, like the first time we visited. Unfortunately, the last time we were here the food was terrible that we had to send it back. My partner got a cheese enchiladas and the cheese on the inside was not cooked at all, not melted. Just plain shredded cold cheese. She send the food back. I got the ceviche and it was terrible. It was clearly old and not fresh. The tomatoes were mush along with the texture of the fish. I really hope they figure it out because I want to support this business. The margaritas here however are consistently fantastic and the service is always good. read more
