Came here for lunch with colleagues. We ordered the combination 3 tacos for $20 with rice and beans, ceviche, and $24 filet of sole with rice and beans. Everything was delicious! Good service, nice ambiance and best of all, free parking on the lot! I'll be back!

Stopped by after a long drive. It was conveniently located by gas stations. They have an outdoor seating which I love because my son was able to play around. I'm sure looks even cuter at night with the patio lights. The staff were welcoming. Love the complimentary chips with bean dip. The inside had a bar and grand piano. My hibiscus margarita was refreshing! I ordered their carnitas enchiladas and it was pretty good.

We visited this spot for the first time since its latest transformation, having known it previously as Home and Ivanhoe. The new owners have given the space a nice cosmetic refresh, though the patio remains as inviting as ever. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and chose to sit inside. Despite it being a Sunday evening, the atmosphere was relaxed and uncrowded. Our server, Jessica, was fantastic--friendly and attentive. I tried the Beef Birria Torta, which reminded me of the savory lechon sandwich from Porto's, paired with some truly delicious Mexican potatoes. My wife enjoyed her Avocado & Mushroom Hard Taco, though she noted the shell was a standard American-style hard taco rather than an authentic taco dorado. A tip on the drinks: I'd recommend sticking with the Jamaica, which was great for $6. However, I'd suggest skipping the La Playa Verde Mocktail. We paid $12 for a glass that was 3/4 filled with ice (as you can see in my photo), which felt like a poor value compared to the Jamaica. We capped the night with a delicious flan since they were out of tres leches. As they are still in their soft opening, I'd love to see café de olla added to the menu! Overall, great service and solid food.

I came here with my Bf last night to try it out since it changed from Ivanhoe to Casa Chida and we were sat in a really small table since it was just us two. There weren't a lot of people on the inside and I was expecting to sit at a bigger table because in our table we could barely fit our drinks, waters, and our appetizers which were just chips so I was worried our main course would not fit in the table. The server was mumbling his words so it was so hard to understand him as well as the way he was tending to us when I would ask a question about the menu he seemed to be sarcastically questioning my question like he was unsure of the menu itself. He served us the chips and salsa and beans which was a small portion of the dips so my bf and I were hungry so once we finished it no one came to us for awhile to get our order and asked if we wanted more chips and salsa. He then took our order and after 10 mins he said our food would take 30-40 mins to cook which I just ordered a carne asada plate and my bf ordered a chicken enchilada. He mumbled the reason why it was gonna take a long time and just walked off. We ended up ordering more chips and guacamole because the food was taking so long and we were hungry. After 40 mins of waiting my bf and I were getting full off of chips and water that when the main meal got to our table we were not enjoying our food anymore. The food was okay, carne asada and chile relleno was salty and the rice was so little. They had a big group of people outside that came after we got seated and I feel like they were prioritized before us which was honestly annoying while we sat there waiting for someone to ask if we needed something or just check in on us after waiting that long. I probably would not have this place at the top of my list that I would eat at again.

Took the hubby here for a family dinner and was not disappointed. The food is amazing. The service was great and the decor even better. This place has been various things, and I feel like the new owners will be successful and hoping it remains authentic Mexican cuisine. One thing that especially stuck out was they weren't stingy with any sides and salsas. The layout is pretty much the same. I will be looking forward to booking their private dining area. It's a very cute spot and they altered themselves with the decor and the bar aesthetics. Plus the fireplace and water features outside give a calm and feng shui vibe. Thank you for having us and the large portions of food were a definite, plus!

I remember when this was Home , Ivanhoe, and now Casa Chida. The restaurants before were always busy and served a great brunch. Not sure what happened and now they are a full on Mexican restaurant. I love Mexican food so I'm all for it! Which makes another good Mexican option for the area. We were a large group (party of 12) celebrating a birthday. We came in around 6:30 on a Tuesday night. They have live music on Tuesdays so that added a nice touch to the birthday ambiance. Especially when the guitarist played "happy birthday" Service was really great. Staff were constantly checking in and we all felt really taken care of. We tried the margaritas (classic and hibiscus) and they tasted fresh and delicious. Not overly strong, solid drinks. They also provide complimentary chips with salsa and bean dip. The bean dip was really good - had a little kick to it. We were all fans of it. We ordered the grilled Chiles plate for our appetizer- about 6 jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese, bacon , and cheese with a side of chipotle sauce. YUM- think jalapeño poppers but better. No photos because they were gone in a flash. Majority of us ordered the 3 taco combination plate comes with rice and beans, the carne asada plate, Molcajete, carnitas plate, and tomahawk. For your 3 tacos you can choose from a variety of proteins- mix and match. On Tuesdays it's $17, regular day $19. My fav that I tried was the carnitas taco. We all agreed the birria taco was overly salty. The carne asada was good and that chile relleno was very good. The Molcajete came out hot and paired with homemade tortillas. The tomahawk plate was huge and came with chorizo queso fundido - Yummy. They brought out dessert and sang happy birthday! It was a pretty positive night. I would love to come back and try them out for brunch. All in all, it's a cool new spot and I shall return!

Been here a couple of times and both were great experiences! Service was really good as well which definitely drew us to coming back! The chips and salsa + bean dip was really good. The salsa was warm which was different but tasted amazing esp when you dip it in both the bean dip and salsa. The burrito was good but it was just the meat and veggies - rice and beans were on the side but I think it would've been better inside the burrito. Still good and I liked how they gave half and half of each sauce. The owner was really nice and came up to our table multiple times too. The first time I went we sat inside bc it was raining but the second time we sat at a booth outside and it was such a vibe with the lights I really enjoyed it! I went for Sunday brunch and had a poor first impression, will likely not be back. - They don't allow tacos to be sold à la carte; they only come in a plate. - We ordered the Guacamole Fresco, which comes with chicharrones, but weren't told they were out until we saw it missing from the plate (see photo).They still charged us full price, $14, and I've had better guacamole. -The Mushroom Hard Tacos were OK, but they were not satisfying at all. One star was for the refried beans; it was the best thing I ate. The second star was for the free parking. Our meal cost $75.54, excluding tip. (See photo). Overall, I gave it a try, and I wish them the best of luck!

I really didn't enjoy the taste of this at all. Queso Fundido - 3 stars. A bit too heavy and greasy, I didn't enjoy this much either. Tostada Salad - 3 1/2 stars. Best item of the brunch. This was good with a crispy and tasty shell, but the brown avocado was a turnoff for me. I think if a few of the menu items were tweaked a little this could be a really great addition to the Silverlake scene.

I love this place!!!! Such a great price for amazing food & drinks! Did bottomless mimosas for only $18!!!! Literally unheard of nowadays. Service is 5 stars, food is 5 stars, vibes are 5 stars! It's really such a nice restaurant with amazing staff. The owner, Manny, is so kind & makes sure you have a great time there. Horacio was our waiter, so attentive, kind, & on it!!! Love him!! I started bringing my family here & every single one of them has enjoyed this place! I'm so glad it's so close to my house, we will definitely be regulars here!

This location has been several incarnations over the years - Rudolpho's, Home, Ivanhoe, & now Casa Chida, which means cool house in Spanish. I must point out that the décor here is very cool. The vibe at the bar/lounge area is chill, and the Spanish music sets a festive mood. The dining room is spacious and the outdoor patio features cozy booths and a big screen tv. I met some friends here for Happy Hour on a Monday. I was pleasantly surprised to see that bartender Edgar was still here. (The new owners kept him from the previous establishment.) Happy Hour is from 3 - 6 pm and available anywhere in the restaurant, not just the bar. Every Monday Margaritas are on special all day. They also have deals for Taco Tuesday. We started with drinks and chips & salsa while contemplating our order. The chips were warm & fresh and came with Salsa Verde and creamy refried beans. Both dips were tasty. The Happy Hour Quesadilla contains Chicken Tinga ($13 HH). My friend ordered it, and I requested a plain cheese quesadilla. My other two friends had the Nachos ($10) & Carnitas Sliders ($9). The Quesadilla was loaded with cheese and came with a side of yummy guacamole. I really liked it. I also loved the margaritas. I had the Chida Margarita ($9 on Monday/$10 HH) and the Hibiscus Margarita ($11 on Monday/$12 HH). Both were delish and nicely balanced. The Hibiscus was a tad sweet for those who prefer a sweeter drink. My dining companions enjoyed their beverages and meals. Shout out to Edgar for taking great care of us. I have to say that out of the four incarnations Casa Chida is my favorite.

When you're out looking at real estate all day, you need a fantastic place to unwind, and @CasaChida was perfect. The service from the entire team was top-notch, but a special thank you goes to Rafael. His extra wonderful treatment truly made my clients feel right at home! The food was delicious. Our aguachile was just a little too spicy for our taste, but the staff could not have been more accommodating, quickly exchanging the dish for us without a single issue. Outstanding service and great food. Highly recommend!

0/5 stars I was really looking forward to trying Casa Chida after driving all the way from Orange County because the restaurant looked beautiful and the food photos were so inviting. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing. We were greeted and seated right away, but then waited 40 minutes before anyone came to take our order. During that time, we noticed three other tables also waiting to be helped. In fact, one guest had to walk up to our server while he was taking our order just to ask if someone could finally take theirs. After placing our order, we waited another 20 minutes while those same three tables received their food before us. A server eventually stopped by to say they would check on our order, but after waiting another five minutes with no update and no food, we decided to leave. I understand that busy sundays happen, but what was most disappointing was the lack of communication and management. A simple apology, update, or acknowledgment would have gone a long way. Instead, we spent over an hour waiting and left without ever receiving our meal. It's unfortunate because the restaurant has a beautiful aesthetic and seemed very promising, but this experience completely changed my perspective. I sincerely hope management addresses these service issues, because the restaurant has the potential to be great. read more

Casa Chida had an amazing atmosphere. I was lucky to meet one of the owner's Manny, and he was incredibly friendly and made us feel at home. Edgar the bartender made the most amazing drinks and the service was top notch. The pricing was great and the food was incredible. Yaaaay, Casa Chida! This place was so lively when we showed up for dinner, with a dj and some dancing happening. We had been to the Ivanhoe many times when it was here and so glad that it could still have a lot of the previous staff who all offer great service. Food was good, had a lot of flavor and came out quickly. Great service too. My bf commented on his margs being nice and tasty and my jamaica agua fresca was so refreshing. The new owner came by to say hi and it was great to get that level of hospitality that can often be absent at so many restaurants around LA. Very chill welcoming vibe and great food that left us happy we stopped by to check out the new digs. 10/10 recommend read more

Came for dinner with a group of friends recently and were seated outside. The outside area is so cute! The food and appetizers were delicious as well. Our group got a variety of appetizers (chips and guac, queso fundido, and chiles) and shared. I'd definitely order the same appetizers again. Found this gem on the corner and I'm so glad I did. They've been open only 3 months and I know they have a promising future. I stopped by this place on a whim while I was driving home and I only have one word: WOW. The service is spectacular, Hansol was very friendly and attentive. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. The atmosphere of the outdoor patio is a 10/10, no notes. I don't think I'll visit the establishment again! Although the ambiance and the customer service was on par. The food was not that great. I had the chicken tinga tacos and had a few bites and sent back due to a bad taste and foul smell!!! Turns out not 30 mins later I wound up with food poisoning!! I sent the tacos back and the waiter was more than accommodating only to order the shrimp tacos that were drowned in seasoning of some type very salty! Now that I think about it the drinks were ok but very watered down! They charge you for bottomless mimosas but don't come back around too often to refill but this seemed to be a staffing issue read more

With plenty of parking to start (much appreciated), walking into Casa Chida made you feel like you'd stepped straight into a restaurant in Mexico. We were quickly greeted by our phenomenal waiter, I can't remember his name, but you'll know exactly who he is by his contagious smile. From beginning to end, the service was outstanding. The food did not disappoint, the drinks were perfectly made, and the ambiance was warm and inviting, bringing everything together beautifully. I know the service, food, and drinks weren't just exceptional this day. It's clear this is their standard every time. 10/10 experience! This place is the definition of looks good on Instagram, food is just meh. We were seated in a corner and then basically forgotten--it took forever for a server to even come by. No napkins, no plates, and zero check-ins. When my order came out wrong, I ended up carrying my own plate to the counter because otherwise it felt like we'd be waiting another hour. I asked to sit outside and was told there was a "private party." We left... and surprise, no private party in sight. Yes, parking is free--but it's chaotic and poorly managed. Overall, just a really disappointing experience. Cute aesthetics can't make up for bad service and disorganization. Wouldn't come back. read more

We came here for the first time after seeing their post on social media and decided to give it a try. And wow -- just wow. It did not disappoint. We ordered the birria enchiladas, which the owner recommended with green salsa, and they were absolutely delicious. We also ordered the carnitas plate, slow-cooked for 4 hours, and paired it with a nopal salad -- hands down the best decision. They also surprised us with a small taste of chicken green pozole. It was amazing, with a thickness and depth of flavor I hadn't experienced before, but definitely delicious. We ordered two margaritas, one hibiscus and one classic lime. They took a little while, but our server Juliana was incredibly kind and removed them from the bill (which honestly wasn't necessary). I was very happy to learn that the owner is from Zacatecas. When I first arrived, I gave them the name of our reservation, and the staff had no idea what I was talking about. We were a party of 6, yet they seated us at a tiny table that was clearly not appropriate for our group. When it was time to order, my husband very clearly told the waiter which pasta he wanted and even showed him a picture of the item on the menu. The waiter looked at it and agreed. My food came out, but my husband's food never did. We eventually found out that his order was never even put in. What made it worse was when the waiter came out saying, "Oh my God, I thought you said you didn't want it." Everyone at the table looked at him completely confused because my husband had literally told him what he wanted and showed him the menu item. Instead of simply acknowledging the mistake and fixing it, we were left waiting. On top of that, trying to get anyone's attention was nearly impossible. We had to repeatedly try to get someone's attention just to get basic service. Then there was another issue with the entrance fee. My sister-in-law had messages showing that we were told that if we ate at the restaurant, we would no longer have to pay the entrance fee. We showed those messages to the woman handling the wristbands, but instead of looking into it or speaking to someone who could clarify the situation, she simply said, "I don't know, you have to pay." No attempt was made to investigate or resolve the issue. After everything that happened, they still added a tip to the bill, despite the extremely poor service we received. Overall, this was one of the most frustrating restaurant experiences I've had. Poor communication, poor service, lack of organization, and no effort to make things right. I definitely will not be recommending this place to anyone, and we will not be returning.

Since they live in an area with limited Mexican cuisine, I chose Guelaguetza, a James Beard Award-winning restaurant with authentic Oaxacan recipes, something completely new to them. They were excited to try something different, as they don't have many Mexican food options where they live, and I wanted to expand their culinary horizons. We were greeted with complimentary chips - some were drizzled with mole and Oaxacan cheese, which we requested refills of, and others were served with red and green salsas. The green salsa had a nice kick to it. For our meal, we shared two large dishes: the Festival de Moles ($53.00) and the Tlayuda Guelaguetza ($27.50). The Tlayuda Guelaguetza, which is also called a Mexican pizza, was layered with bean and chicharron spread, queso fresco, cabbage, quesillo, beef tasajo, pork Cecina, and pork chorizo. While I've always wanted to try Tlayuda, this one wasn't good, and I wouldn't recommend it. The pork chorizo was particularly unappetizing, and neither my parents nor I enjoyed the dish, feeling it was a waste of money. The Festival de Moles ($53.00) featured four individual moles - negro, rojo, coloradito, and estofado - with a choice of shredded chicken breast or pork spare ribs. We opted for a mix of both and found this dish to be excellent, and we would definitely order it again. They were very impressed with the moles, and enjoyed them for the first time. The only minor complaint was a lack of tortillas to dip with the mole, though they did provide some rice. We ordered several drinks, which significantly increased the bill. I was surprised we spent $200 on lunch for three people with only two meals. I started with the Pasion De Oaxaca ($16.00), a mezcal, tequila, passion fruit, grapefruit juice, and tajin cocktail that was excellent, perfectly balanced, strong, but not too sweet. For my second drink, I had the refreshing Aquas Frescas - Jamaica ($6), which was perfect after my meal. I even took it to go, and they kindly provided a cup. My dad ended up taking it, as he needed it with his medication (they're old!). My parents, who were trying mole for the first time, were very impressed and really enjoyed it. Our only minor complaint was the lack of tortillas to dip in the mole, although they did provide some rice. The food took a little longer to come out, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. I imagine this type of cuisine is labor-intensive, and you can't rush the cooking time for mole. You just have to trust the process! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Guelaguetza Restaurante and will definitely be back. I can see why they're a James Beard Award-winning restaurant; you can get authentic Oaxacan flavors in LA! We're lucky to live here.

When I first arrived, I gave them the name of our reservation, and the staff had no idea what I was talking about. When it was time to order, my husband very clearly told the waiter which pasta he wanted and even showed him a picture of the item on the menu. The waiter looked at it and agreed. My food came out, but my husband's food never did. We eventually found out that his order was never even put in. What made it worse was when the waiter came out saying, "Oh my God, I thought you said you didn't want it." Everyone at the table looked at him completely confused because my husband had literally told him what he wanted and showed him the menu item. Instead of simply acknowledging the mistake and fixing it, we were left waiting. On top of that, trying to get anyone's attention was nearly impossible. We had to repeatedly try to get someone's attention just to get basic service. Then there was another issue with the entrance fee. My sister-in-law had messages showing that we were told that if we ate at the restaurant, we would no longer have to pay the entrance fee. We showed those messages to the woman handling the wristbands, but instead of looking into it or speaking to someone who could clarify the situation, she simply said, "I don't know, you have to pay." No attempt was made to investigate or resolve the issue. After everything that happened, they still added a tip to the bill, despite the extremely poor service we received. Overall, this was one of the most frustrating restaurant experiences I've had. Poor communication, poor service, lack of organization, and no effort to make things right. I definitely will not be recommending this place to anyone, and we will not be returning.

And that is really the only reason this review dropped from five stars to three. Everything else -- the setting, the food, and the service up to that point -- was very enjoyable. A shame, really. I will definitely give this place another try, and I sincerely hope my next visit gives me every reason to upgrade those three stars.
