This is a or should I saw was a frequent place that I visited to eat Latin fare. But after today and what I was told with new ownership I won't go back. I called to place an order on the phone upon doing so I asked the woman. On the phone whose name was Destiny of the drive through was open of did I have to come in. She said I could go through the drive through. When I got there I did what behave done more than 20 times before and called to tell them I was at the window. The woman who answered said they were busy but I could hear her tell Destiny I was at the window. She put the phone down and didn't hand up so I could hear all the conversations that were taking place at my expense as they hate the drive through and why did I have to go there and why couldn't I go in. So as the clock kept ticking and I could hear the chatter finally a man came to the window with my food. I asked if he could check it as it didn't look like the right amount. When he did low and behold it wasn't correct and then Destiny appeared asked what the problem was. When I explain to her that it wasn't the right order she then took the food back and said, do you want to wait to have them make it? It's going to take another 10 or 15 minutes. By this time I've been in the drive-through for 30+ minutes waiting so I said yes this is dinner for my family so I will wait. when she went back up to the counter to put another order in, I could still hear on the phone how she was complaining that it was not her problem that I couldn't come inside and why couldn't I just come in when I clearly had asked if this was an option when I initially place the order. She proceeded to have conversations with other people around there about me my order at the drive-through. When she came back to the window with my food, I said for the third time you know the phone is still off the hook up there and I can hear all of your conversations and her response was so it's a free country I can say what I want. I then asked for the managers name or the owners name. This used to be Randy Hernandez, who I know and I was not aware that he was no longer the proprietor of Casa Cubana. After the conversation I gave her my credit card to pay she came back no interaction, other than handed me my credit card in a slip with a name on it of who the owner was. I just can't fathom somebody in a service industry talking to people like this, and being so disrespectful when all I was trying to do was pick up my food and I had inquired about the proper way to do so and followed her direction. Like I said above, this will be the last time that I go back to this restaurant that I had visited for the better part of the last 2 1/2 or three years regularly. Wanted to go to Casa Cubana for a while. It was very festive. Cuban band, dancing, hard to talk, but we increased our volume. The food was good. We had the Cubana Guacamole which was excellent! The Rumba Sampler was excellent. And we shared a Mofongo Sampler. After we finished eating we noticed a 89 sanitation score, which was a little unsettling. And then when we got our bill there was an 18% service fee for 4 people which is unusual in the US. I would typically tip 20%, but this was a little surprising. I have NEVER, not once, written a bad review for a restaurant. Whelp, this was bad enough for me to do so. It was 11:30 on Sunday, Fathers Day, when we arrived. There were two to three other tables. It was 12:15 after asking for water twice when we finally had water almost 45 min later. Our drinks finally came one by one by 12:35 and we ordered. Food came at 12:50 and was only ok. We paid for the 4 vegetable plate and only go 1 (ONLY 1) yucca fry as representative of that selection. Only 2 1/2 slices of plantain. My cuban sandwich was severely lacking in pickles, had 3x as much bread and meat and flavor was just okay. Black beans were horrible - hard and without flavor. There was an automatic 18% service charge for over $100 which was only salt in the wound since it was literally the worst service and presentation of food ever. Portions sub par. Food just okay, and nothing was notable of any of our 5 dishes. Drinks tooooook FOREVER and it was the longest 2 hour lunch ever. Would not recommend. The server didn't speak good english which is okay since it is a cuban restaurant but that made it a challenge for my child with allergies. There were only a handful on options but we decided to try this one that was a little further from us. Went out with friends to support local right now. Waited at door for 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. (Should have known) sat down and ordered some beers and 2 mojitos. All came 10 mins later except one friends Mojito. She waited 6 more minutes for hers. Then our apps came out quickly. Next was our food. 2 people ordered the Cuban sandwich and once again, only one came. It's was as if when 2 people ordered the same thing, the waitress only put in 1. So our friend sat there for 10 minutes and watched us all eat. We asked for another round of drinks and they took so long that we sent them back so we could check out. We asked for our check and she never came back. 10 minutes later we called her over and she told us the system was down and she couldn't do anything until it was up and running. We the sat there another 20 minutes and waited. She never cleared our plates, she never refilled our waters. We split our Bill and the took 10% off bc of the system shut down (big deal) . We were about to put the tip in when my friend noticed there was a "service charge" of 18% We went up to ask what it was, and the waitress told us if your bill was over $100, they add a 18% gratuity!! I told her my bill was only $76 and she said that between the 2 couples it was over $100. She told us "it says that on the menu." I emailed the manager about this on Instagram. He "read" the message and never replied. This is shady AF. I want to get a job there where as soon as I know $100 is spent, I can ignore the table and know I will still get an 18% tip. A RIP OFF!! I was craving Cuban food went there for lunch today. The owner makes a pathetic effort at being a "Chef" and has the audacity to call his crappy/nasty food "Cuban", thereby giving Cuban gastronomy a bad name. Nothing is his menu is authentic Cuban food. To add insult to injury he charges an exorbitant amount of money ($23.50) for 3 meager scoops of plantain with 4 shrimps, a spoonful of boiled chicken & another spoonful of boiled pork. That paired with blasting, insufferable reggaeton music made me want to puke. I left without tipping which I never, ever do. My message to the owner: be proud of your ethnicity & change the name of your restaurant to "Casa Puerto Rican-Dominican" because that is the food that you serve, NOT Cuban. Stop lying to the people. I've been wishing for a good Cuban restaurant in Wake Forest for quite some time, and we tried this one tonight, hoping for the best. Alas, my wife's plantains were cold, and my steak was a tough as shoe leather. I actually had to go home and eat something, because I certainly didn't fill up there. My sliced plantains were tasteless; couldn't eat 'em. On the plus side, our server was very friendly and helpful, and the flight of three mojitos was tasty, although there was very little alcohol in them. So it's been a while since I wrote a review, First time since start of COVID 19 as we really haven't eaten out. Today I decided to try something special so I found this fairly new restaurant "Casa Cubana". For starters it was empty, mostly delivery ( it seems that not many people are ready to go out yet). Our waiters were really nice, they had disinfectant at the door and the tables were spaced out enough to allow for social distancing so we felt safe. We ordered the Mofongo sampler and the arroz con camarones. I have tried these dishes before and I can say that they were good but compared to others I've had they did not blow me away. Mofongo in my opinion needed more salt and garlic. The meat toppings on the Mofongo were fine but not great. The rice was flavorful but yet the consistency of the rice was not perfect. So in essence the meal was fine but not great. Up to this point they really deserved only 3 stars but thanks God we decided to order the Flan, that was amazing ! Probably the best I've ever had. Too bad it was late otherwise I would have ordered the cubano coffee as it has quite the reputation. I guess I'll have to come back again. read more

The food is delicious. Don't get me wrong, it's so good. However, the prices are absolutely insane. We came for dinner and I asked if we could just get the lunch portions instead, I was told "no". So I ordered my meal and honestly it was so small I couldn't imagine what the lunch size would look like. For $17, it was steep. The alcohol drinks are delicious but if you get a regular priced liquor drink, they're so expensive. I think most of them were Atleast $15. Lastly, the menu stated that bills over $100 have an 18% service charge. 1) what is this service charge? A tip? 2) My bill was less than $100 and I got charged the service fee. The food is great. More like 3 and a half, but I will round up! My husband and I love Cuban food and decided to check out Casa Cubana, even though it's a little far for us. They have a great cocktail menu and everything on the menu looked sooo good! I really wanted the Latino Mule, but they were out of ginger beer. I ordered the La Rubia instead and it was very tasty! For dinner, I ultimately decided to get the Cuban fried chicken and a side of the black beans. The chicken was flavorful, even though it was a little dry. I LOOOOVED the black beans and could have eaten a bigger bowl! While it was very good, I have to say that I enjoy the Cuban food at Oakwood Cafe a bit more and it's much more convenient for me to go there. I can't see myself being a regular at Casa Cubana, but if you live in North Raleigh, it's definitely worth checking out! read more

Nice addition to the North Raleigh/Wake Forest food scene! The Cuban appetizer sampler is fantastic, a must try--especially if you are not familiar with Cuban food. Chicken Ropa Vieja was also very tasty. Fried Pork entree was a miss, dry and not too much flavor. On the sides, their black beans are outstanding as is their flavorful white rice. If you're a Mojito fan, by all means come here! They have a few different spins on this classic--and they are all carefully crafted with lots of mint muddled in. This restaurant opened very recently and not all the signage has been updated with the name yet--but its worth looking out for!
