Decided to go there for dinner after reading good reviews. Was not disappointed. We started out with the crab cakes, they were amazing. I ordered the Cannolicci al Cartoccio and it was great with just the right amount of heat. My friend had Papardelle al Limone which she loved. We have nothing to say but good words! This is a great local gem! Let's give them business so they will stay in RM! We went there this weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Tossing between a few Italian restaurants nearby. We did our research like most of you all did. We learned from prior reviews that this place was a prior sort of fast food joint with open kitchen and tables. We didn't know they have a nice shaded patio outdoors. We sat outdoors, it has great ventilation. The air conditioning inside was great as well. This place is amazing! From beginning to end. We were greeted nicely by the host. The free bread and dip (so flavorful)! Very generous portions for all the dishes. Great alcohol selection and they don't go cheap on the content with cocktails. We ordered fried zucchini, 2 different risotto dishes and wrapped up with a tiramisu. Lemoncello shots were on the house. We had great server that came to check on us very often and made sure all things are taken care of...and the owner came by to talk to us. We plan to come back with our teens. They love fettuccine so we will try this restaurant's version of the dish! We even ask for extra bread to bring back home and have the kids try them! I didn't get to visit the washrooms. Our servings e us suggestions, which changed our minds and turned out FANTASTIC. We had the chef's special which gave with appetizers, soup/salad, sides, main dish and dessert. Below is a letter I wrote over two weeks ago: December 14, 2024 Casa Di Luigi 5500 New Wilke Rd Rolling Meadows, IL 60008 Re: Experience December 7th To Whom It May Concern: My birthday was coming up on December 8th and I wanted to try a new highly rated restaurant. Based on the reviews I selected yours. I saw a few negative reviews, but 95% were great. I made reservations for my children and myself, Saturday, December 7th at 6:30 pm. The receipt is attached. I had the Tagliatelle in Agrodolce and by 8:00 pm I was feeling bad, so we left. We arrived home and by 9:00 pm, I had the chills and was wrapped up on the couch. Cake was cancelled and those that do not still live with me went home. Around 10:00 pm, I ran to the bathroom to vomit and then the waterworks (diarrhea) started. Both ends emptied with great force (projectile) simultaneously with no warning and no control every ten minutes for ten (10) straight hours. From 10:00 pm Saturday to 8:00 am Sunday. I finally fell asleep at 8:00 am. The clean-up was awful, but I am lucky to have children brave enough to help. Meaningful sleep was not in the cards as I still got up for diarrhea every 30 minutes throughout Sunday and Sunday night. My blood pressure was high at 140/100 and my temperature was low grade high at 99. Monday, I was exhausted and sore. My esophagus was scratchy and sore from vomiting and coughing created excruciating pain in my chest. Worst, I still could not control the diarrhea and often shat my pants with no warning. Monday night was a little better as I only got up every other hour. I refused to buy Depends, so I had to stay home Tuesday, but by Wednesday I was feeling 75% better and went to work for a half day. I often write reviews and I wanted to tear you up, but I hate what reviewers have done to business so I am trying to communicate my story for your benefit. My gut says something went wrong with your food handling processes, but this is not SOP. On the other hand, maybe you do have a small hole in the dike to plug, but this will be an easy fix. Several other reviewers claim they got sick. There is a rule in business that one negative review is an opinion, and that two (yes, only two) is a public opinion. I was also bothered that you do not facilitate feedback, which I am afraid causes more negative reviews and an appearance of avoidance. There is no contract submission form and no email address on your website for communication. One could mistakenly read between the lines that you are hiding. Yes, there is a phone number, which will lead to a front-end host, who has no skin in the game and will ultimately get the information wrong when transferring it. Why bother? Booked reservations at this place based on the positive reviews, could not have been worse, where do I start: Wine! Each glass of wine has about two fingers of wine! Stringy calamari awful taste and rubbery Costine di manzo Milanese, tasted like boiled meat, stringy and tough on a bed of overcooked risotto, Chicken Scaloppine, apparently the chef has no idea what chicken scaloppine is, tomato sauce? I assume it was a bad night. The food is quite good. It was the customer service. We met friends there during the summer. All of us were surprised by the informality of the building, but we are thrilled when we find a diamond in the rough. Our server was very sweet, a mature woman. We explained we first wanted to order drinks and would wait a bit before ordering dinner. She took the drink orders, slightly confused and we cheerfully explained who was ordering what. The drinks seemed to be taking a long time. We wondered if the serving staff was doubling as bar help, which is common, and perhaps she was waiting for someone to make the standard drink orders. They arrived. After a bit, we started to look for her to place our dinner order. She was not out on the floor much. We are patient. When we do place our orders, again confusion - in our 70s with all levels of dining experience and I have actually been a server - we assumed she was newish. 2 additional drinks were ordered at that time. After several minutes, 15m?, they did not arrive. We asked about them and restated the order. They came quickly. Dinner took a long time to receive. Fortunately, we were visiting so had good conversation. We asked about delay, she came back and told us it would take a bit more time. OK, the restaurant did not seem that busy. Finally, dinner came. It was delicious. I don't recall what I ordered but it had a FABULOUS sauce and I believe some small components. I wanted a bit of bread to nudge the food on to my fork. No Server. We wait, I got up and started walking toward the open kitchen asking if I could have A piece of bread. The chef was gracious. I recall he apologized for the delay and I waived it away telling him the meal is delicious. He seemed to ask if we needed "more" bread. I told him we were not served bread, he seemed surprised. He told me to have my seat and some would be out. Up until now, we are fine. It's one of those things. Here's where it falls apart. A woman emerges from the back with a basket with 1 or 2 pieces of bread and scolds me that they do not serve bread with dinner as they are "not that sort of restaurant." Her scolding voice and message was surprising. We ordered full meals. It seemed like she was saying we already had bread. We just looked at each other stunned by her patronizing tone. We continued with our excellent meal and great conversations and I was able to enjoy the plate of deliciousness in front of me. The next day I read reviews of this restaurant and it seems they give a bread basket when you arrive. Of course, we did not. That's not a problem, our server was truly struggling in her role. What surprised me is that even if we had been give a basket of bread, what is the harm with one or two more pieces? While i know the food was quite good, I have a stronger memory of how rude the manager or whom ever she was over the bread. read more

Short version: This place is legit. Long version: My wife and I decided to make a reservation for a date night based on some local word of mouth and the intriguing menu -- and honestly, I was particularly drawn to here because the elevated "fanciness" of the menu didn't seem to jibe with physical location: the building was previously a fast-casual restaurant, the area isn't exactly a destination for higher-end dining, and it's situated in a way that doesn't particularly stand out from the road. This isn't exactly logical, but I figured that such a discordant contrast of menu and location had to be good. And wow, yeah, it was good. First off, you really get an impression that Casa di Luigi is family-owned and run, and that a lot of love and care are going into its operation. The interior is small, quiet, and classier than what you might expect from the outside, and when we arrived, we were immediately greeted by a member of the family and shown to the dining area. Service was very personable and efficient, and our waiter was knowledgable of both the food and drink menus. I tried and enjoyed the homemade limoncello martini (later, after dinner, the chef offered both of us samplings of their limoncello and pistacello digestifs, which was a very nice touch). After ordering our dinners (I chose the Risotto ai Frutti di Mare and my wife chose the Papardelle al Limon), we were brought a basket of freshly-baked focaccia bread with a garbanzo-based dip/spread. Our meals couldn't have been better, with beautiful presentation and perfectly-cooked seafood. My dish could have easily gone awry in less-capable hands, as it included mussels, calamari, shrimp, and scallops in a risotto that holds its heats for a long time -- but the delicate scallops and shrimp remained very nicely tender, and all the flavors came together so nicely. Then for dessert we had a coffee-based panna cotta, which was amazingly rich and easily sharable despite not being especially large. Casa di Luigi is a real winner, and a great pick if you're looking for something new for a date night, special occasion, or just a fantastic culinary experience. We ordered 2 appetizers; Fried Zucchini flower and fried calamari both were perfectly fried. As a main course I ordered Costine di Manzo alla Milanese server over rissoto. The meat was so tender and the creaminess of the risotto were the perfect combination. For the dessert, I ordered a pistachio limoncello and dulce de leche limoncello both have the perfect sweetness without loosing the essence of limoncello. In the end the waittress surprised us by bringing the birthday boy a tiramisu served in a small pot decorated with a real flower. This place is a hidden gem!! When we walked in, the place was completely empty, it was nice to have the entire staff just working harmoniously to get us our orders. After about 15 minutes, more and more people showed up to enjoy the restaurant, so it was fun while it lasted. The food was fresh, hot and homemade, you can literally see into the kitchen and hear them making your food. I ordered the beet salad, it was sliced in a way I've never had before, extremely thin, which made it even more delicious. The table shared some fired calamari, it wasn't rubbery or over breaded. The wife ordered a nice steak with grill asparagus and came with a homemade sauce, it was cooked exceptionally well and very flavorful. I ordered the scaloppine di funghi with the veal, oh man was it tender and delicious. The portions were just right, not too much or little and everything was delicious. The inside has an exposed ceiling which made it larger than it actually is, but this place can be intimate since there aren't many tables, the music selection is easy on the ears and the staff is extremely attentive. Absolutely a must go Italian place! We just stumbled upon this when searching for an italian place near Schaumburg! It was a Sunday afternoon and place was all to us, the servers were well spoken and were very professional! Although the menu didnt really have much vegetarian options, the chef whipped up a great pasta for me. The servers recommended some appetizers, we had the melted brie with bread and the zucchini fritters, I must both were just too amazing! Great new restaurant in an unexpected place! Heard about it from word of mouth and tried it for a special birthday dinner. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation today. It's a small interior with few tables so reservations are a good idea. One advantage of the small size is the view into the kitchen. A drawback was the sound level at times. There was a loud group there at the same time we were and there a few times I hoped a server would interrupt to calm things down but we didn't let the rudeness of that group diminish the lovely meal we were having We started with cocktails and a daily special appetizer - zucchini blossoms, which were delicious in a spicy tomato sauce. Our table enjoyed the rigatoni, tagliatelle, fettuccini alfredo, and a daily special of steak and scallops. Everyone enjoyed the entrees very much along with the bottle of wine we shared. (They have reasonably priced approachable wine selections as well as some finer options.) We also had dessert - tiramisu and the almond semifreddo (beautiful flambé presentation). Delicious! Hidden gem of an Italian restaurant!! Delicious food, appetizers and desserts. My son and I ordered the meatballs, the rigatoni, the branzino, tiramisu and the chocolate torte. I loved the meatballs, tiramisu and the rigatoni the most. I really like their tomato sauce because it's not overly sweet. The homemade meatballs and their Italian sausage in the rigatoni taste really fresh. The homemade tiramisu that came in a flower pot was really yummy and cute. Service was great. Had dinner on a Sunday afternoon. So it was not busy at that time. Small intimate restaurant with dim lighting so it's a great place for date night. Music in the background is not overly loud. They have an outdoor patio opening up as soon as the weather gets warmer. I will definitely be back to sip a glass of wine or try their homemade lemoncello on the patio. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! The food is delicious. We absolutely loved our dinner here last Monday. The service was impeccable and they were so knowledgeable and helpful. The presentation of the dishes was lovely down to the dessert which was the cutest thing you have ever seen. The space itself was lovely and they have an open kitchen which I liked. Wow! I stumbled across Casa Di Luigi on Yelp and the reviews were all accurate! What a great place! Amazing food and service. We had Jose as our server and he was super attentive and helpful with explaining the menu. We tried the beet carpaccio (yum!), the gnocchi norcina (my fave), the chicken saltimbocca and veal marsala (it's called something else on the menu). We were able to meet the owner as well and they sent us complimentary limoncello (homemade) after I expressed interest in their pistacello (pistachio). I wish they had a pistacello dessert martini on the menu. We are telling all of our friends and we will definitely be back. Our server suggested the calamari al porto rosa and the crab cakes. We all ordered different pasta plates and we each loved our plates. I had the limoncello martini, so good!
