Newly opened brunch spot located in a strip mall. A cute nicely decorated place with ample seating. It's very spacious and bright. However the acoustics was not great. It was loud and difficult to hear each other. The staff was friendly and attentive. Our server came around multiple times to check on us. Our food was delicious, the steak asada were tender and flavorful. They were very generous portions. The reason for 4/5 stars was the wait to be seated was long. I think they're under staffed because there were lots of available tables. In addition, our food took a while to come out. I hope they iron out the kinks soon as I hope to return and try their other menu items. read more

We drove by this place on a whim about a week ago and decided to give it a try today. It is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking available. Once we walked inside, we were pleasantly surprised by how bright, airy, and welcoming the space felt. It has been beautifully transformed. From the moment we walked in, everyone from the front desk to the bar and dining room staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The service was attentive without being overwhelming, which we really appreciated. My husband started with a hazelnut latte made with oat milk, which was very good. For breakfast, he ordered the gorditas, which come two to an order and are a very generous portion. The carne was flavorful and tender, and the gorditas themselves had great flavor without being overly thick or heavy. I ordered the chorizo baguette sandwich. The portion was generous, and although the cibatta baguette looked like it would be heavy, it was actually light and airy. The aioli was delicious, and paired with the caramelized onions and grilled panela cheese, everything came together beautifully. I also swapped the home fries for the black beans, and I am so glad I did. They were creamy, smooth, and topped with just the right amount of cotija cheese. Our six-year-old ordered the kids' breakfast with mini pancakes, bacon, and eggs, and he absolutely loved the mini pancakes. Overall, this was a wonderful new find in Covina. Between the welcoming atmosphere, attentive service, and delicious food, we will definitely be back to work our way through more of the menu. read more

Casa Luna is a great new brunch spot that's definitely worth a visit! We stopped by shortly after they opened and everything was fresh and delicious. I ordered the Chipotle Chilaquiles with a vanilla latte, and both were excellent. The chilaquiles had great flavor with just the right amount of spice, and the latte was smooth and perfectly made. My daughter ordered the red chilaquiles, and she really enjoyed them as well. We also shared the sampler plate, which came with a waffle, pancake, and French toast. It was a great way to try a little bit of everything, and each item was fluffy, fresh, and topped with delicious berries and sauces. The restaurant has a beautiful, clean atmosphere, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. For a business that's just opened, they're off to a fantastic start. Jose the owner was amazing. Very personable & remarkable. He really left an impression on my mom and I. Also our waiter was very attentive and very knowledgeable regarding the menu and back story of how the chef started. Food was the best I've had as far as a home cooked contemporary Mexican menu. The food alone spoke for itself with immense flavor and the feeling of home in every bite. The look of the restaurant can be a little off putting from the outside but once you step foot in the doors you're met with love and a beautiful design concept of Tulum right in Covina. Let me start by saying that this is a "New" restaurant, probably not even a month old. I loved their decor, very cozy, nice seating and lighting. Can't comment very much on the staff, other than the girl behind the bar....was an absolute Angel, very sweet, good at what she does. If we were going in for just drinks, it would have been amazing!!! They had several staff call out and so, I don't want to knock them for that, you could definitely see they were trying with what they had, for that I applaud them and say job well done! Food, well I am mixed on this one. I don't consider this a true mexican restaurant, it's definitely a crossover with American food, but definitely has it's own spin! I can appreciate it, if it works! My case, it didn't, I'm sad to say. They offer no chips or Salsa at the table, no salt or pepper. We had; American Breakfast, Chilaquiles, Huevos Divorciados and Veggie Omelet. This is just my opinion on the following; most plates come with Black Pureed Beans, with no option for traditional beans (not good), plates do not come with Tortillas, can not just order 1, you are forced to buy (4) for $4 (they should rethink this one), We substituted French Toast for Pancakes, which needed approval, but was not told it had a surcharge of $2 (hmm), Omelet did not go in with original order had to wait an additional 10-15min for this, again giving some grace here. But I was not pleased with it, the veggies were not diced up, large slices of them with a little bit of cheese inside and the top of the omelet was bare. (Not happy with it, would not order it again). My suggestion to the owner, take a good look at the dishes and take the comments and see what works best for you. Definitely some dishes needs to be revisited. The reason for only 4 stars, is the prices and the gouging, I am not a fan of this. There are things they should automatically offer without trying continue to pinch the customers that do come in. Just beware, there is a 3.5% CC Fee and for parties greater than 1 carries an automatically carry a gratuity. read more

This is a chill little spot out here in Covina. You can tell they're still getting their bearings based on the design of the interior, it isn't sure yet what it wants to be. And the menu was just papers stapled together with no design work put into it. But aside from that, the food was pretty good. I got the sausage breakfast tacos. They were flavorful and tasty, I liked them a lot. The tortillas were a little thin and tore easily, but beside that, the flavors were there and I'd order them again. My wife liked her omelette and beans as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful, service was quick, and bathrooms were clean. We'd go back to try more of the food and mimosas! read more

When we went, we were told there was a 15 minute wait. I'm was ok with that even though it wasn't busy at the time. We were seated sooner than told. Perfect. Cafe de Olla was delicious. That's as far as we got. No one came to take our order. I tried to flag down the waiter but I realize he didn't see me. Finally a gentleman came to ask if we ordered, informed him we hadn't and he promptly indicated he'd send someone. Finally a waitress did come but we decided to leave because it had already been a long wait. What turned me was the fact that a patron asked the waitress what happened to which she started to explain to him, not necessary. The other waiter made an offhand comment about not being patient. We were still standing there. And yes, we speak Spanish as well. The food we saw coming out looked delicious and probably was but they are understaffed and you could tell inexperienced. read more
