Stopped by this place because my husband was craving Mexican food, and it is new to the area. I ordered chilaquiles in green sauce with over medium eggs and black beans. The eggs were excellent! They were fried with fully set whites, and warm thick jammy yolks that were slightly runny. The black beans were delicious. Best described as rich, and creamy with an earthy flavor. My only complaint about my chilaquiles was they were not very generous with the tortilla chips that were covered in the green sauce, making them a bit too soupy. I probably could have counted the amount of chips that were on my plate. My husband ordered a chicken taco that he described a tasty with plenty of chicken. I do think that the taco was over priced. It was $7.00. This place is definitely a place to try if you are in the mood for a good brunch and/or Mexican food. Stopped here to grab breakfast with my daughter. First impression was that it was very cute. Unfortunately this may be all this place offers. It took about 40 minutes for us to receive our food. Our waitress hardly checked in to update us on what was happening. A man who appeared to be the manager or owner didn't even acknowledge us and I tried getting his attention multiple times. Once the food came out, A HAIR was in my daughter's food and unfortunately she didn't realize until about mid meal. ALSO, she got the French toast and the bread was literally hard and stale and hard to cut even with the knife. I had the chilaquiles and the portion was small for the price. On this particular Sunday, service was really slow. I'm not sure whether it could be chalked up to the rain or if it's customary here, but nevertheless it was difficult to get our server over to just refill our water. The server herself, however, was kind and thoughtful to the matter. I thought maybe the food would salvage the slow service, but instead it left much to be desired. I ordered the gorditas of chorizo after narrowing down the options; everything sounded really good. But, I felt the dish was missing something like a salsa to add a layer of heat or flavor to it all. In addition to the gorditas falling short of the mark, the chicharrones with guacamole were also disappointing. More disappointing than the chicharrones themselves was the guacamole, which lacked salt and/or lime. I think I'll have to return and see whether things improve over time. Tried Casa Luna yesterday! They just opened about a month ago. Right off the bat the staff was so welcoming and friendly! The overall vibe is very warm and relaxing, lots of plant decoration everywhere which helps a lot because there are no windows, which started to feel a little stuffy after a little bit. Hopefully the business can add in a few windows when they build up their cash flow. We ordered the huevos rancheros, chipotle chilaquiles with chorizo, and luna french toast. All of the food was delicious! We haven't had brunch that tasted this fresh in a long time!! You can definitely tell sauces, salsas, toppings are all freshly made in house. So much flavor! It makes such a difference! We will definitely be back! The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars was because it was a little pricey. However, the food portions are large! So it makes it worth it. But, for me, this would be more of a special occasion type place because I definitely can't afford to eat here regularly. Lol. read more

Newly opened brunch spot located in a strip mall. A cute nicely decorated place with ample seating. It's very spacious and bright. However the acoustics was not great. It was loud and difficult to hear each other. The staff was friendly and attentive. Our server came around multiple times to check on us. Our food was delicious, the steak asada were tender and flavorful. They were very generous portions. The reason for 4/5 stars was the wait to be seated was long. I think they're under staffed because there were lots of available tables. In addition, our food took a while to come out. We drove by this place on a whim about a week ago and decided to give it a try today. It is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking available. Once we walked inside, we were pleasantly surprised by how bright, airy, and welcoming the space felt. It has been beautifully transformed. From the moment we walked in, everyone from the front desk to the bar and dining room staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The service was attentive without being overwhelming, which we really appreciated. My husband started with a hazelnut latte made with oat milk, which was very good. For breakfast, he ordered the gorditas, which come two to an order and are a very generous portion. The carne was flavorful and tender, and the gorditas themselves had great flavor without being overly thick or heavy. I ordered the chorizo baguette sandwich. The portion was generous, and although the cibatta baguette looked like it would be heavy, it was actually light and airy. The aioli was delicious, and paired with the caramelized onions and grilled panela cheese, everything came together beautifully. I also swapped the home fries for the black beans, and I am so glad I did. They were creamy, smooth, and topped with just the right amount of cotija cheese. Our six-year-old ordered the kids' breakfast with mini pancakes, bacon, and eggs, and he absolutely loved the mini pancakes. Overall, this was a wonderful new find in Covina. Between the welcoming atmosphere, attentive service, and delicious food, we will definitely be back to work our way through more of the menu. read more

The customer service was just okay and nothing really stood out. I also tried one of their specialty coffees, but it wasn't my favorite. I ordered the chilaquiles, and while the dish had potential, the chicken was very chewy and there wasn't much sauce, which made the dish a little dry for my liking. We came to Casa Luna Brunch & Bar today to celebrate my mom's birthday. I made a reservation yesterday for a party of 12, and I have to say that our table was ready when we arrived, which was a great start to our experience. Unfortunately, there were several areas that need improvement. The restaurant was extremely hot and uncomfortable. There was a small mini-split AC unit, but it simply wasn't enough for the size of the space. With the current temperatures, addressing the air conditioning should be a priority. I also feel the restaurant could use a little more attention to presentation and readiness. The menus were printed on regular copy paper, which took away from the overall dining experience. With today's technology, I think there are much better and more professional options available. The service was also very slow. It took a long time to receive our drinks and appetizers, and then we waited quite a while for our food. We specifically asked if the children's meals could come out first, but unfortunately, the kids were among the last to receive their food. Two of the meals were also incorrect and had to be taken back. As far as the food, there were some good items, but overall, I think there is room for improvement. The mini pancakes were good, and the chilaquiles were decent. However, the eggs lacked flavor, and the potatoes that came with the meals could definitely be improved. I think a more traditional home-fries style would be a better fit. We also noticed several other tables waiting for service, and unfortunately, some guests appeared to leave because no one had come over to take their orders. Another concern was the price. The overall cost was high for what we received. I wouldn't have minded paying the price if the service had been better, the restaurant had been comfortable temperature-wise, and the overall experience had matched the cost. Unfortunately, when you combine the slow service, incorrect orders, uncomfortable heat, and food that was just average, it was difficult to feel that we received good value for what we paid. I really like the concept of Casa Luna and I can see the potential this restaurant has. However, based on our experience today, it feels like the restaurant may have opened a little prematurely and still has some things to work out. I'm leaving this review because I hope the owners and management take the feedback constructively. There is definitely potential here, but improvements in air conditioning, service speed, food consistency, presentation, and overall value would make a big difference. Most importantly, we came to celebrate my mom's birthday and were hoping for a special experience. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful inside and has so much potential, but unfortunately the service really needs improvement. We waited about 20 minutes before anyone came to check on us. The owner eventually came over, took our drink order, and then never came back to check on us again. Everyone seemed a little lost, with people switching between cleaning, hosting, and serving, and our food took forever to come out. It was honestly disappointing because the space is gorgeous and could be such a great spot. I really hope they're able to work on the service because the potential is definitely there. I read a few reviews about the service before coming here, and honestly, our experience was different. Unfortunately, it wasn't necessarily a good one. We were a party of 3 and arrived around 8:45 AM. The owner came over and explained that they were expecting a large party at 10 AM and asked if we could move. My daughter loved the mini pancakes. The chilaquiles were also okay--nothing that really wowed me. The meat could have used a little more flavor, and I think the chipotle sauce could use some tweaking as well. Overall, the place itself is nice, and I can see why people enjoy it. But my experience was just different from what I saw in some of the reviews. Also, don't always rely on everything you see from influencers on social media. Remember, some influencers are being paid or compensated to promote these places, so your experience may be completely different. Lastly, please check your bill carefully. The first time we attempted to go, they weren't even open, but online said they were. So we waited a month and finally went back. We were very excited to finally try Casa Luna. We went on a Saturday, it was packed, the wait was an hour. That wasn't the problem, the problem was the host. The first thing he said to the party ahead of us was, "there is an hour wait," no greeting or friendly welcoming kindness at all, to us, he said "can u close the door?" No please or polite words at all. It was hot out and he expected us to wait in the hot sun, there isn't an overhang to wait under or anything, he could have welcomed patrons in so that we aren't in the sun. I found this place through social media and I decided to visit with my family. Let me say the front desk host was not welcoming nor friendly. That was my First impression. Then upon walking in we were handed paper menus with coffee stains and finger prints all over them. However, the restaurant did seem clean but the menus gave it a bad view. We ordered our food and everything was great. Although, we ordered water that never came and our food also had missing items. The staff did rectify and bring the missing items and the water finally came after the check was served. Upon reviewing the menu, aside from the paper presentation I noticed the drinks were too over priced. Coffee was around $8 and specialty coffee was around $12. And no refills. Conflicted about the 3 stars on this establishment, so I'll start with the positives. We visited today, 7/25. This restaurant is really pretty inside. Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of our server, but she was really nice and sweet (she shared her last name was Luna). We enjoyed her service, so huge shoutout to her. Upon being seated, a gentleman did come over to drop off utensils and I gather he may have been the owner/manager. We also appreciated his acknowledgment of us. So customer service is good here, given the interactions we've had. Now, the food. I wish we could rate it higher, but it was just okay. Firstly, we want to recognize that they are a newer establishment so they may not have it figured it out yet...but the stack of paper menus stapled together gave us a good chuckle and almost kind of like....for a place that looks really good, the stapled paper menus were really just out of place, and poorly thought of. The presentations of the food were appealing, however, it really was just okay. We ordered 2 kids mini pancakes, a couple of chilaquiles, some skillets, chicken avo toast, and chicken and waffles and everyone in our party were just kind of indifferent. The waffles were left uneaten because they were dry, and the smaller kids complained that the mini pancakes tasted sour. The mini pancakes also looked like the frozen pancakes we buy from Costco. I would hope that's not the case, but it didn't taste freshly made. We also ordered mimosas and those were okay too. I will say that we all loved the coffee though, and the portions were pretty decent for the price. All in all, for the amount of money we spent, we didn't feel that it lived up to the cost. The food was very good not greasy but a bit pricey. Service was good. Our server, you can tell she never has been a server before. She was nice but definitely could use some training in how to ask people if they're enjoying their food or if there's anything else they can get for them. I really wanted to give this place a chance, especially since it's still fairly new, but unfortunately I ended up leaving without even eating. We were told there would be about a 45-minute wait, which honestly was never an issue for me. I understand the restaurant is newer and can get busy. I also happened to go during the heat wave, so probably not the best timing . Once we got our name down, I waited in my car since it was pretty warm. It did take a while just to get our name added to the waitlist. They didn't really seem to have a designated hostess, and the person taking names appeared to possibly be the owner or manager since he wasn't wearing a uniform. While waiting inside to get our name down, it also felt pretty warm. I wouldn't say it was unbearably hot, especially considering the heat wave, but it didn't feel like there was much AC or airflow. What really threw me off was when I politely asked if I could see a menu while we waited and was simply told "no." That immediately gave me a weird vibe because... why can't I just look at a menu? I wasn't asking to order, be seated early, or skip anyone. I just wanted to see what they offered while we waited. It also wasn't like there were only one or two menus available--he had what looked like an entire stack of them right there. We actually did wait the full 45 minutes and still weren't seated, and honestly, even that wasn't the issue. I understand estimated wait times aren't always exact, especially at a newer restaurant. It was really the interaction and overall customer service that left a bad impression. At that point, I just wasn't feeling the experience anymore, so we decided to leave and eat somewhere else. Casa Luna is a great new brunch spot that's definitely worth a visit! We stopped by shortly after they opened and everything was fresh and delicious. I ordered the Chipotle Chilaquiles with a vanilla latte, and both were excellent. The chilaquiles had great flavor with just the right amount of spice, and the latte was smooth and perfectly made. My daughter ordered the red chilaquiles, and she really enjoyed them as well. We also shared the sampler plate, which came with a waffle, pancake, and French toast. It was a great way to try a little bit of everything, and each item was fluffy, fresh, and topped with delicious berries and sauces. The restaurant has a beautiful, clean atmosphere, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. For a business that's just opened, they're off to a fantastic start. I ordered chipotle chilequiles and my husband ordered the pancake flight (waffles, French toast and pancake). My chilequiles were ok, but the black beans were cold and the potatoes were not fresh, they tasted like frozen potatoes My husband's waffle were definitely from a box and the French toast and pancakes were dry and not tasty! Oh and I can't forget the burnt coffee, it was horrible!!! After we mentioned it to the server... He was hesitant to deduct it from our bill. He ended up deducting after we told him we're not paying for. It is not cheap, but yet it tasted as if we paid $10 a plate. This place definitely needs improvement if they want to stay in business. Jose the owner was amazing. Very personable & remarkable. He really left an impression on my mom and I. Also our waiter was very attentive and very knowledgeable regarding the menu and back story of how the chef started. Food was the best I've had as far as a home cooked contemporary Mexican menu. The food alone spoke for itself with immense flavor and the feeling of home in every bite. The look of the restaurant can be a little off putting from the outside but once you step foot in the doors you're met with love and a beautiful design concept of Tulum right in Covina.
