This place is my own, personal Cheers. I absolutely love the staff and the food is great. I come for happy hour, though. The mango margarita is the best, hands down. It can get kind of busy in the 7pm hour as families begin to show up but the staff stays on point. This is the third restaurant in this location since 2007 when I moved to the neighborhood. Delish! We have been eating at Casa Mama for over 2 years now, and we absolutely love it. The white queso and warm, thin & crispy chips are my favorite. The beer is always ice cold too! We always opt for traditional dishes, such as the quesadillas or fajitas, but they have a large menu with a good variety for those that are more adventurous. We also have noticed how friendly the management and servers are there. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and to get to know you. We know a lot of the staff by name and it's refreshing to find a place that seems to care so much. I stopped in for lunch with my friend. We were wanting good Mexican food, but also wanted something affordable. I found this place on yelp and we chose it based on the queso reviews. It did not disappoint! The queso was amazing! The salsa served with chips was so good and had the perfect amount of heat to it. I had the verde enchiladas and the chicken was perfect. I could have eaten the rice alone and been happy. Nothing beats good Mexican rice!! My friend had the brisket tacos and she was shocked at how moist the brisket was. The homemade tortillas were just icing on the cake. Even though we live an hour away, we will definitely be making the trip back. SO GOOD!!! read more

I am impressed. Our server, Felipe, was amazing. He was so attentive without being overbearing. He always came as soon as we needed something, before we realized we needed it. I grew up in SoCal. I was craving Mexican food, not tex-mex. The chips and salsa were good. We started with the queso. It was a little too creamy for my taste but I'm not a huge cheese person. I got the caldo de res. It was perfection. My husband got the torta. The bread was different than what I'm used to. He said it was alright, but he'll definitely be getting the caldo de res next time. We finished with the flan. My husband who does not eat sweets was floored with it. It's what flan is supposed to be. Not gelatinous, but creamy. So good. Husband also got two tasty margaritas. We may have be regulars to this place!! I loved it! The restaurant ambience is really nice. The service is super and really great food. We started of with guacamole and chips. The guacamole is fresh and wonderful. Our waiter was friendly and fun to talk to. I can't say enough about the service. We tried a spinach tamale. I love spinach but I was sceptical and it turned out to be one of the best things ever. The spinach is in the masa instead of in the center like your usual tamale filling and there was this tasty sauce on it. I will order one of those every time I go. YUM! The chicken mole was really flavorful. I enjoyed it. This was my first mole. It's really smokey rich and fantastic with beans and rice. We also ordered the brisket enchiladas. Good stuff! This dish is different and worth ordering if you love meat n potatoes. ;) The pablano sauce is on the bottom under potato filled tortillas smothered in a brisket stew. SO GOOD! My fiance and I stopped in here for a late lunch/early dinner around 4:30pm on a Sunday. We picked it based on the other yelp reviews since we were wanting to try some place we had not been before. Atmosphere: There was a steady stream of people coming in as we were eating. We were greeted promptly and given the choice of a booth or a table. We chose a booth, although comfort level doesn't seem to vary. All of their booths and chairs are hard wood. In fact, the booth was at such an angle, I couldn't even reach the floor with my feet (I'm 5'1"). It wasn't too bad though. All of the staff was very friendly and attentive. We were even offered more chips after we paid our bill because we were still seated to finish our drinks. Service: We were given chips and salsa almost immediately upon being seated, and our orders were taken promptly as well. Almost as soon as we ordered, we were brought mini chalupas with beans, lettuce, salsa and sour cream drizzled over it. They were quite tasty and unexpected. Our food arrived at the table less than 5 minutes after we ordered it. Seriously. Food: The chips were thin, which I prefer and the salsa was very good. I can't eat super spicy food, so I was happy to taste just the right amount of heat in this. I ordered the meal that came with a crispy beef taco, a cheese enchilada with ranchero sauce, a chicken enchilada with sour cream sauce, rice and beans. The taco was delicious. The beef was seasoned and had that velvety texture that comes from adding potatoes to the mixture. The cheese enchilada was fantastic. It had a unique flavor, that I'm guessing came from the combination of using white cheese for the enchilada and covering it ranchero sauce. It had a nice tangy flavor to it. The chicken enchilada was not bad. The meat itself was good, white meat and flavorful. The sour cream sauce was exactly that, sour cream. It was almost too much, and I love sour cream. I added some of the table salsa to it, and that balanced the sour cream out enough to make it really good. The rice was a little bland, but it was nice to see big pieces of peas, carrots and green beans in it. I added salsa to that for extra flavor as well. The beans were typical refried beans. Not bad, but nothing special. My meal was $10.99, which is reasonable for everything that was offered. Drinks: I had a frozen watermelon margarita. It was basically as house margarita with watermelon flavoring added to the top. Be sure to stir it, otherwise, you will not get a good watermelon taste. It wasn't bad after I got it mixed up. I have been here once and will definitely be back! We came around 11:30am for brunch. They have great patio seating, but it was a little too windy and cold at the time I went, so I didn't get the patio experience. Nevertheless, seating was very quick. Chips and salsa were tasty and I couldn't stop eating them, so I ended up taking most of my food home. I ordered some potato, egg, skillet dish and it was delicious! If you imbibe, they have $3.50 margaritas during brunch hours which I highly recommend. There are a variety of really cool flavors - I got a watermelon and a mango and both were nicely flavored, not overly sweet, and potent enough that 2 had me very nicely buzzed. The only reason I knocked off 1 star was because service was really slow. We wanted to stay and talk for a while so it was no problem, but if you were looking to get in and out, you wouldn't have been happy. However, our server did address it and apologized profusely for the delay. Speaking of the server, another plus is that he was a cute and flirty gentleman...I'm married, but a girl does like to feel admired by a stranger from time to time...I digress. The staff was very friendly and helpful in assistance with our needs as we were with a 11 month old. My wife ordered the brisket enchiladas and I ordered the shrimp fajitas. Both were tasty! Let me start by saying I do not like flan, but I love coconut. I decided to try the coconut flan and it is a MUST MUST have! Oh my I can't recommend this enough. Good Mexican foods with a unique change of pace from other run of the mill Mexican food. Good wait staff and excellent drinks. Only negative is the place is way too small and poorly set up at the front nowhere to wait all over flow goes into the small bar or out the door to the patio where people are trying to eat. We try to go at non-primetime hours otherwise; you are packed in like cattle uncomfortably waiting. I hope they move to a better location in Murphy and they would double or triple profits. read more

Easily my favorite Mexican food in plano. The chipotle sauce on the salmon taco is what my dreams are made of. The brisket is phenomenal and you can never go wrong with the veggie enchiladas covered in a creamy avocado sauce. I tried this place for the enchiladas and it wasn't very good. The main reason I'm giving a bad review is for the bad food, and I was pissed off when I ate here because the ratio of money paid/food was very unequal. I am from San Antonio and I know good texmex. If you go to taco cabana the food is twice as good as this place for half the price, and I don't mean that taco cabana is even that good. We stopped at this restaurant because everything else was closed and man, that was a GREAT decision! We had the best service from the moment we walked in the place.
