The family was craving some Tex-med, so we decided to take on Casa Mama. Half of us had been to this restaurant and sister restaurants in Dallas. Mind you, I wasn't in the mood for Tex-mex, so I will do as much justice as I can for my opinion. The chips and salsa came out very quickly, prior to our server coming to us, and right after we sat down. The chips were warm and not overly greasy or too dry. Our server was nice and attentive, but service wasn't anything spectacular. We had many of the dishes there, from chimichangas, pollo asado, burrito, and beef tacos. Everyone was satisfied with the meal. My meal didn't overturn my original feelings for Tex-mex. The restaurant was packed, buzzing with chatter and we were expecting to wait 30 minutes for a table. Mixed greens, julienne vegetables, ground beef, and chili sauce, topped with cheese, guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo. Doesn't match my picture. If I could give it no *'s I would. I was told today that because I'm Gluten free, I shouldn't eat any of the food at Casa Mama in Rockwall. FYI they have two other restaurants (Plano & N. Dallas). I said "what about a salad?" The manager just scrunched up his face. He asked me if my "allergy" was real bad or not. I told him I had Celiac and he said he never heard of that. I knew I was in trouble. To be honest, I should have known better when they didn't answer my three emails - but I was meeting friends. There's usually something that you can eat. NOT HERE! I said "just bring me a taco salad with plain ground beef (notice the beef is in some sauce) and vegetables". I ended up eating some chopped tomatoes that I was charged $1 for. When trying to negotiate the menu, I told the manage that between my FB blog and my IG page, I have over 6K in followers and I could send him some business if he could adapt. He was not interested. One of my friends told him "that't because all your food comes of the Sysco Food truck and you don't really cook it here it's just put together here!" We would have loved to make this our family Mexican go-to restaurant. We've been here 4 times. The chips were thick and cold and there was only one type of salsa that was served. Chips/salsa is the barometer for a Mexican restaurant. The servings were mediocre with heavy servings of beans and rice. One taco, one enchilada, and one tamale was $13.98. It was okay; however, Rosa's is a lot better all the way around. The atmosphere was loud and busy. We sat at a table with 10 people in the front window at 6p. The sun was coming in and it was very hot. On top of that, those who were sitting facing the window were blinded by the sun. It would have been so much nicer to have had a drawn shade. This place is the worse Mexican Food that I have ever eaten, ordered a simple stapel of most Mexican resturants wnich is Enchiladas and I ordered Cheese Enchiladas and when they were served I noticed that the cheese inside looked like a solid cheese stick, so I unwreaaped and there was what looked like a cheese stick , with nothing else inside but it was not even melted and had a flour tortilla wrapped aroune the cheese stick and looked like they had attempted to microwave but the cheese wasn't melted. I called it to the attention of the waiter and he got the manager. I showed it to them both and they did not deny what I said and didnt charge me but my evening dinner was ruined. I told the Manager that they shouldn pay attention to what the chef was putting out. I will never go back to this place and I recommend that if you do go pay close attention to what they serve and how it is prepared. Very unhappy. read more

The food was bad. I had "steak" tacos and a chile relleno, and my wife had the "steak" fajitas. I'll start with the relleno. The chile has no flavor what so ever. The cheese was cold and not melted. We asked them to reheat the plate, which they did, but the cheese remained in solid form. Now to the @steak" in the tacos and fajita plate. We still cannot figure out what cut of beef this was. It had the texture of a hotdog, kinda smooth and rubbery with no fibers that you find in steak. It was very weird. Besides this unusual texture it was mostly flavorless. Can't believe they treat customers like this. We have been coming here quite often lately with our neighbors. We went May 28th and brought a dinner home for our daughter. The hamburger meat looked uncooked so we contacted the manager to inform him. He said the cook told him it was paprika and he would not do anything about it. I informed him there was no way it was the seasoning but he said there was nothing more he could do. The consistency of the pink meat feels mushy and raw while the brown meat is firm. Although my daughter stopped eating it was too late. She spent till just after midnight throwing up and diarrhea. I am so glad the manager assured me there was no issue with the food and they serve it this way every time. Casa Mama, you just lost a loyal customer and several others that accompany us when we go out with. Consumer beware when dining here. read more

What a great restaurant all around. The service was great, the restaurant was curated well and the food was even better. The only thing better than the food may have been the margaritas. Although they were very good I did think that the brisket enchiladas were a bit odd when they came filled with mashed potatoes and the brisket was just shredded on top, I could've done without the mashed potatoes. We catered for 25 people for my husband's 65th birthday from Casa Mama at Rockwall. We were very impressed with the quality and taste of the food. We ordered chicken and beef fajitas that came with sautéed onions and bell peppers, rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream and pico, tortillas, chips and salsa. Everyone raved how good it all tasted and we are a family of foodies. Going to eat at the restaurant is always a great experience. We were in Rockwall for the Spring Sip and Shop event and decided to stop in for dinner. We were greeted and sat right away. Several minutes later our drink order was taken. I ordered the Brisket enchiladas which were HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by the waiter. My daughter ordered shrimp cocktail to start and burrito. The enchiladas were different. They were good but different. Mashed potato stuffed tortilla with brisket, onions and a couple mushrooms on top, with poblano sauce on the bottom. I prefer cheese in my enchilada. I'm glad I tried it but wouldn't order again. Just not my cup of tea. The shrimp cocktail was very good. Tangy almost a citrus taste to it. My daughter really enjoyed the burrito. Interior is nice, but loud. They do have patio seating. Restrooms were very clean. I will say the menu was a little confusing for me. Chicken Relleno mentioned sliced chicken, stuffed w spinach and other ingredient but no mention of a paper. Had a Sunday lunch and despite it being very busy we were seated within three minutes after entering. I had the Three Beef Enchiladas with Chile Con Carne' & grilled Serrano Peppers on the side...EXCELLENT! My Wife had the Beef Fajitas and the meat was superbly seasoned & juicy tender. We moved to this area and when we found out they were opening a new location close to us, we were extremely happy! This is by far the prettiest location. This restaurant has a nice ambience. But, the food is mediocre. The taco salad is served in a bowl rather than a shell with minimal meat. I ordered the top shelf margarita and it was undrinkable. The inside of the cheese enchilada was a room temperature mozzarella cheese stick. The corn tortilla wrapped around it was chewy and dry. The exterior of the enchilada had a little to no sauce on top. The rice beans and hot sauce are very good however. We came in at 2:55. We asked to order from the lunch menu, and were told no. There is no time listed on the lunch menu. The lemonade tasted like water with one lemon squeezed in it. Perhaps because we came in at the end of lunch, the kitchen was just giving us what they had leftover? I judge a Tex-Mex restaurant by the quality of its queso. Every dish we had at our table with queso had a pasty lukewarm white sticky substance that very much resembled cream cheese.
