The food is good, and prices aren't bad, but I was really turned off by their illegal "no credit cards under $16" policy. It makes me wonder what other laws they are not following. Yay!!! So glad I finally made it to Casa Mexico. I have seen such great reviews and then friends have sealed the deal. I was told to get the Cancun platter (prawns, crab and chicken in a white wine/butter sauce = enough for two people) and also the off-menu Sonia's margarita (a ginormous margarita with crushed ice and Chambord). The platter was delicious and excessively buttery and the margarita actually challenged my drinking prowess. I dislike giving any restaurant under 4 stars but unfortunately I won't be coming here for Mexican food again. I came here for the first time with my friend and we ordered carne asada burrito with everything in it and a taco and my friend ordered enchiladas. My burrito was extremely dry, and had no flavor and same goes for my taco. We were very displeased with how dry the enchiladas was were. We were so disappointed that we weren't satisfied with our order especially since We love Mexican food. However our waitress was excellent and was really nice. Another disappointing experience here. We stopped actually going to the restaurant years ago because the once stellar service just got shitty. The food was always really good. Fast forward to the COVID nightmare and we just ordered lunch on DoorDash. Although tasty, the food is cold. We live 5 minutes away so this is not a DoorDash took too long kind of thing. This is an "it was never effing hot, ever" kind of cold. And these asshole are so cheap that they don't even use real to go containers, this is a paper plate covered with foil so it cannot be microwaved. All done with the clowns. Never again. read more

I can't believe I forgot to review this place. I'm from Arizona. I KNOW Mexican food. This is the worst Mexican food I've ever had. Hands down. Even the iced tea tasted like water. I had to send it back and get a margarita in hopes I'd get "some" flavor in my beverage. My husband ordered a michelada to drink. The server is like "oh an enchilada?" He said "No. A Michelada." (Why would he just start ordering food before we even look at the menu or get anything to drink? Lol). Chips and salsa are subpar. Food literally was the worst ever. No flavor in anything. Husband also agreed. I'm floored that anyone could rate this higher than one star unless they have no idea what Mexican food is supposed to taste like. Service was ridiculous as well. Just awful. I've been here 4 times.... people rave about this place so I keep giving it a try, and I keep getting disappointed. This last visit was it for me. My family was in town from So-Cal and they chose this place. I wanted so much for this to be a great experience for them, but unfortunately, the service and the food fell short. First of all, my family walks in (2 aunts, 2 uncles, my mother, my daughter, and myself), and the hostess was very rude from the get-go. Kinda set our whole visit off on the wrong foot. We all ordered.... amazed by the outrageous prices. Our server was nice but I think she was trying to make up for the hostess's rudeness. The food was okay - but bland. I always ask for the spiciest sauce they have. At a Mexican restaurant, they SHOULD have something spicy. Nope - nothing real spicy here. The beans have always disappointed - no flavor and can definitely afford some salt. The rice was good though! I'm done giving this place a chance. 90 percent vegetable ,few pieces of boiled chicken and beef. Plate was not sizzling . Warm at best. stems on carrots were present and cut in very thick pieces. And hard to eat. Not traditional Mexican food in anyway!! Orange margarita was watered down and tasted like water with a cheap mix. Paper napkins were used to cut cost. However, don't go here if your in a hurry or have another engagement after you plan to eat. I have seen a heard of speeding snails move faster than the waitresses / waiters and cooks in that place. In fact I'd be willing to bet that the waitresses could get trampled by a heard of speeding snails if they aren't careful? If you have the time and are capable of avoiding the speeding snails, the food is pretty good and the salsa is to die for, we just loved the salsa and chips there.... the wait is almost worth it for salsa alone! We spend a couch le of hours this afternoon visiting Livermore wineries and decided to have some Mexican food on the way back to the house. My daughter found that Casa Mexico was nearby so we headed that way. The decor was basic Mexicanish, nothing fancy, with a mix of chairs, and we don't even remember what type of music was playing. There were only three tables occupied when we arrived and they quickly pulled a couple of tables together for all of us. A large is $12.75 but it's a good size and you can taste the tequila. #WorthIt I was a little disappointed that there was no happy hour menu, otherwise our group may have opted to eat something other than chips and salsa. So Yelped and found out that this place is the only one the serve cocktails around the area so off we went. The place was okay, a bit old with the decor.. My husband and I had an impromptu date night Sunday and decided to try Casa Mexico. We are kicking ourselves for never having tried Casa Mexico before - it was fantastic! The Service: Service was prompt and friendly. It was fairly crowded for a Sunday night around 7pm so I can imagine there might be a wait for Friday or Saturday night - be prepared. Our server checked on us often and the runner was very attentive as well. The Food: I can easily make a meal out of delicious chips and salsa. Their chips were fantastic and freshly made. Their salsa was flavorful and spicy. At times it was too spicy for me, but I look forward to trying again when I'm not getting over a cold (my throat is sensitive from all the coughing). The chips and salsa were a generous portion as well. It drives me crazy when restaurants bring a small basket of chips and salsa especially to a larger group (this was not the situation, nor the case here). I am a bit of a chile relleno fiend. That being said I can honestly say theirs is the best chile relleno I've had in the Tri Valley area. It was generously sized, perfectly cooked and the sauce on top was so tasty. Their refried beans and rice were delicious as well (and I usually only pick at that). My hubby had the 2 chimichangas which came with guacamole. This was my favorite place to eat authentic Mexican food. This is definitely not authentic, I ordered chili Verde and basically it was pork in canned Verde enchiladas sauce. And top off the canned sauce the pork was burnt and had that burnt taste... Taco Bell has better sauce then what I got.... such a shame I always recommend Casa Mexico but no more!! It was not edible and to top it off they charged me 1/2 price for food that was burnt!!! Which I did not eat....... Now I'm not the only one who got bad food my husband burrito had no cheese on it. My daughters boyfriend ordered shrimp enchiladas and they were pencil thin..... my daughter was the only one who didn't complain but she never does even if she is unhappy. Now on to the horrible service, the waiter brings our soda but no straws, so I waited and I wait 15 for him to come back around so I can get a straw to drink my soda. Finally I can order an appetizer which he brings it out. And all the while there's maybe two other Tables in the restaurant. The waiter brought our food but never came back to ask our food for us is there anything we would like, did we want more soda. If I could give them no stars I would it was that bad. Since the Covid we could not spend Mothers Day with our Mom. Casa Mexico is her all time favorite! They put together a nice to go lunch for her. We needed everything separated so that we could travel with the food without it getting soggy. And they had no problem doing this for us. Our family has been good customers of Casa Mexico for years i love the chili Verdi with green sauce always have the red sauce makes me sick and causes me to puke. So last week we went into Casa Mexico i had ordered my typical chili Verdi burrito with green sauce on flower I was very direct when ordering and said green sauce as the red sauce makes me sick. Wouldn't you know it the 2 orders of chili verdi came out with red sauce on both meals the meals went back to be re done with green sauce, The waiter returned with 2 meals with green sauce combined with the red sauce on the burritos i then said they both have red sauce on them the waiter then said "NO it was completely remade " so i took 2 bites of the meal The other person when returning from the bathroom looked at the order and said that this is red sauce and green sauce mixed. Tonight was a different story. IN fact the last 4 times I've been there it has been disappointing. Let me give you a warning never order their cocktails.
