This is a tough review. I decided to try this little Mexican restaurant that shares the building with a gas station. The parking was a little weird, but I found a spot and checked it out. There was a party of 4 in front of me ordering at the counter. They serve alcohol, bottled sodas, and have a soda fountain. The place isn't fancy- pretty simple and a little dark but ok. It wasn't inviting enough to stay. The 3 guys working weren't too friendly but I wanted to try the fish taco and a shrimp taco to go. $5.75 seemed a little higher than normal for a taco but I figured the serving may be bigger than most places. After 10 minutes, I picked up my to go order on a paper plate with tin foil which made me chuckle. The fish taco was very good- great flavor, tender fish perfectly cooked. I'd rate it a 5/5. The shrimp taco was much smaller which was odd, but the flavor was also very good. The photo reflects a pretty small taco- and it definitely wasn't worth the price. 2/5 for the price. I would go again for fish tacos if I wanted food to go with no frill. read more

Hidden GEM!! Learned about this place from another mom on my son's baseball team. She couldn't stop talking about how good it was and so convenient given how close it is to the baseball fields... So I decided to give it a try. Their super burritos are delicious!! For the size, amount of food and flavor, you cannot beat their prices. I've grabbed burritos from them several times now and we have consistently enjoyed them. While I've done takeout, they do provide the opportunity to sit inside. Tasty, loaded burritos with great price. Purchases come with self-serve tortilla chips. We ordered a carne asada regular burrito and a carnitas regular burrito. 2nd visit we ordered a chicken burrito. The meat portions were generous and the meats were tasty. The regular burritos come with refried beans, rice, pico de gallo, and salsa sauce. We will definitely go there again. FYI, they charge 3% credit card transaction fee. First time trying their food and must say- they've got pretty good burritos here! Our friends brought over some take out from here since it's their go-to burrito place in the area. We had 4x super burritos but one came missing guac. And an order of the super nachos. The burritos were packed with meat and the jalapeños on the nachos added a nice kick. This remains our always go-to-spot for quick, tasty, and value-priced Mexican food! This place never disappoints, and I only regret when I try to go to another local taqueria only to pay much more and not as great tasting food. Service is always quick and friendly, the menu options are vast, and food is delicious! On our most recent visit, we ordered the Super Burrito with carne asada, and two taco salads with one being chicken and the other steak. This was our first time ordering the taco salads as we were specifically wanting tostada salads. I never realized that the two were the same! Lol! Everything was excellent as we expected and this continues to be our favorite local Mexican! Don't be fooled of its quality because it is located adjacent directly next to the gas station. MOLD ON MY FOOD Last night my family and I ate at this restaurant, and it was by far the worst dining experience I've ever had. The restaurant wasn't busy at all--there were only two other couples there when we arrived--so there was no reason for the number of mistakes that were made. We ordered three plates of enchiladas (each plate was supposed to have three enchiladas, two with green sauce and one with red sauce, served with rice and beans), an order of asada fries with no guacamole or sour cream, and the steak fajitas with flour tortillas and sour cream on the side. Almost every item came out wrong. The fajitas arrived with no tortillas and no sour cream. The enchilada plates only had two enchiladas instead of three, the sauces were incorrect (two red and one green instead of two green and one red), the chicken was raw, and the rice and beans were undercooked. We also weren't given any silverware. The asada fries came out with guacamole and sour cream even though we specifically asked for neither. We sent them back, and when they were remade, they still had sour cream on them. The same mistake was made twice. After asking multiple times, we finally received silverware, but they brought us corn tortillas instead of the flour tortillas we had requested. About 15 minutes later, they finally brought the sour cream--after the fajitas were almost gone--and eventually brought the flour tortillas. Unfortunately, the worst part was yet to come. The flour tortillas they served us were covered in mold. Seeing mold on food that was brought to our table was absolutely disgusting and completely unacceptable. Between the raw chicken, undercooked sides, repeated mistakes with our order, the extremely slow service, and moldy tortillas, this was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I will never return, and I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. If basic food safety and accurate orders are important to you, I would strongly suggest eating somewhere else. read more

Bistek Ranchero same thing funky taste on the meat not sure if the why or what but just not enjoyable at all and the sauce where all bland and green sauce tasted like bitting into a patch of grass over all 60$ for this definitely not worth it probably what you'd expect getting Mexican food from a place next to a gas station I had hopes for it but left disappointed and hungry . I love this place. This is our go to for Mexican food. It never disappoints and is always so tasty. The people that work there are so friendly and helpful. We love having little chats with them while we're ordering. The bathroom is a little dirty, but it's not as bad as other places . It's a very small restaurant and is located right next to the gas station so it gets pretty busy. The food comes out really quick and most people just eat and go so even though it's a small place there's always seats available. We ordered breakfast burritos and they were delicious. They were big enough to fill us up, but not so big that everything was falling out, which is the perfect way if you ask me. We love being able to choose our own salsa and have as much as we want from the salsa bar, their chips are always super fresh And so crunchy and salty. Great little shop with many great menu items!! I got the super burrito, which should be called the SUPERB burrito. Loved the flavor of the carnitas and guacamole the most. Perfectly made! The lady got flautas which were Crispy, fresh and flavorful. Mom got cheese enchiladas and Crispy tacos. She loved them both... i snuck a bite of moms enchilada and it sure beats anything back home. Man I don't know what happened to this place but after the disgusting food we got today we are never coming back. The carnitas tasted horrible and super old. It was like they took old meat and fried it in a ton of oil to try to hide it was old, so it was super crispy and dry and just tasted like oil. I legit couldn't eat my food, after a few bites all I could taste was weird meat oil and it was absolutely disgusting. On top of that the nachos had this cheese that just clumped together in giant piles and was cold and not melted so if you tried to eat it it was just this giant clump of cold thick cheese. This is the first time I've actually thrown food out before, if you know me you know that I'll power through most of anything just for the principle of having paid for it. Well not this time. The place is clean and inviting- there's outdoor patio seating. The food is good quality- the only recommendation I have is to add more pico in the burrito- as you can see in my photo, it's mainly meat, rice, beans, and just a very few pico pieces scattered throughout. If you like that, then you're going to be happy eating here, but if you want more of a balanced amount of ingredients, I'd recommend mentioning that when you order. They give you the option of free chips and salsa on the side, and the chips are so authentic it feels like you're in Mexico when you smell and crunch into them. read more

We were in the area and my monster of a son was hungry! Whenever he's really hungry, he wants a super burrito. We found this place based on all the positive reviews. It's located in a strip mall next to a gas station and we drove right by it the first time. It is nicely decorated inside and really clean. There were quite a few people placing orders to go. Service was quick and friendly. My son ordered the fajita burrito with carnitas and was not disappointed. It was gigantic! This pound and a half burrito was filled with big chunks of carnitas, sautéed peppers and onions, rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream and cheese. This was a mediocre experience overall, with some benefits and some negatives resulting in an alright experience but I wouldn't go again. Food: It was alright but wasn't anything spectacular with its flavors. It was very stereotypical and simple in what was included, and while not bad, left much to be desired. After my lady and I spent a full day shopping at the nearby Livermore Outlets, we were on the hunt for an above-average, high quality Mexican restaurant to get our bellies full before our 2-hour drive back to the Sacramento area. Well let me tell you, "El Caminito Mexican Restaurant" absolutely delivered! Located in more of a residential part of Livermore and directly next to a gas station, El Caminito is still relatively new to the restaurant scene as they opened back in the spring of 2016. Parking was relatively simple as there wasn't any neighboring businesses around this quiet part of town. Once entering, the size was fairly standard yet offers an easy-to-read menu board, a self-serve chips & salsa bar, and a neat Mariachi band mural (next to the salsa bar). Since we were starving, my lady ended up ordering two of their "Carne Asada Tacos" (priced at $2.35/ea). I went with their "Crispy Taco Plate" (for $11.50). The plate comes with the traditional Mexican rice, refried beans, pico de gallo, and sour cream. I chose Carne Asada as my meat of choice. We also decided on ordering a Horchata drink to wash down our food. One amazing feature is that if you check-in at El Caminito using the Yelp app, you receive a FREE 8 oz. order of fresh guacamole (a $4.50 value). You must spend a minimum of $15 to quality but nonetheless, this is a great deal! Our guacamole arrived within a couple minutes and tasted amazing! Creamy, delicious, and better than most places I've been to! Only a few minutes later, both her tacos and my entree arrived at the same time. Everything was piping hot and presented very well. The Carne Asada inside the tacos were seasoned and flavored to perfection while the homemade beans had that top notch creaminess that I love. She even raved about her tacos being delicious as they were very generous with the meat ratio. Finally, their homemade salsas were also on point as everything tasted extremely fresh and delicious. I honestly don't know if I'll be visiting Livermore anytime soon. But for the locals, this place is an amazing hidden gem. Wonderful service, affordable prices, and food that is excellent, "El Caminito" is one of the better Mexican restaurants I've eaten at. My rating, a perfect 5-stars. read more

I was a bit apprehensive due to this being in the same building and beside a gas station, but I had to remind myself that some of the best food that I've ever had has come from places like this. The service and food were great. The prices are very reasonable. I'm a chile Relleno connoisseur and the Relleno here was great. It seemed like fresh pepper and I liked that the cheese inside wasn't runny or like lava when eating it. The only reason for the lack of 5 stars was that the salsas in the bar were rather meh. There was nothing with a real spicy kick to it. Also, the rice and beans were forgettable. Spicy salsa would have helped that a lot. Bottom line is that the location works well for my usual travel patterns, the food is good, and the price is great. We'll be back often. read more
