We went to their first location in Mountain View shortly after they opened when we lived there, and the food was quite good, so we thought we'd try the closer location in San Jose. It's located in a newer, larger shopping center - strip mall makes it seem like a small area, but it's a larger center. Plenty of parking, no wait on a Saturday late morning for brunch. I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito with fresh fruit. They have an extensive menu with a lot of both Mexican influenced and American traditional (benedicts, omelets, pancakes, waffles) and I've had both during the 3 times I've been to their two locations. Everything has been good when I've been here. This time, the chorizo burrito was rich and filling and I ended up showing some restraint and eating only 1/2 of it, saving the next half for lunch the next day. The fresh fruit is a nice option to have since if you're eating unhealthy on the main course, you feel a little less guilty when your side is fruit! We gave Casa Mia a try based on the strong Yelp reviews and because it was close by. Overall, the reviews were well deserved. The restaurant was very clean, the menu had plenty of choices, and the service was excellent. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and quick to check in without being overbearing. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a Mexican flair throughout the menu, and everything we saw looked good. Prices were a little higher than what we usually pay for breakfast, but nothing outrageous. The only thing I didn't care for was the living wage surcharge added at the end. I'd much rather see that built into the menu price so you know what you're paying from the start. My wife and I went there for brunch. What caught our eye was the French Toast 3 leches. We ended up splitting it because the portion was kind of big, but regardless, the food was delicious. Though the place was busy/fairly packed, the staff could have been a little more attentive. We accidentally received someone else's food a few minutes after we ordered, and then ended up waiting another 15 minutes till our order arrived. We had good expectations coming in on Father's Day for brunch. There was no we wait and we were able to sit outside on the patio. They had a loud speaker on the patio playing the TV inside. We were approached right away asking for our drink order. I was surprised to see a matcha option so went with lemon matcha which was iced. They didn't offer aqua fresca. The menu includes Mexican go-to like huevos rancheros and offers comfort food like waffles and chicken, healthy options like avocado toast and more. The place definitely has an atmosphere that is higher scale than a typical taqueria with excellence in how they serve up drinks and food with very good service. He thought the food was very plain tasting instead the traditional taste he expected. I really like to enjoy the beans and salsa but this experience misses the mark with watery beans and sour tasting salsa that may have been spoiled. It was served cold and had a fizzle salsa isn't supposed to have. We asked for a different kind of salsa which they brought. This one was better but also very watery. Came here for brunch last Saturday. Parking was easy at the strip mall they're in. They had plenty of tables indoors and outdoors. The decor inside was modern yet homey, very similar to their Mountain View location. Service was welcoming, attentive and super friendly. The complimentary pan dulce was a nice touch. They're subtly sweet, just a little harder than I expected. Great to have with our respective drinks (hot coffee, black tea, and iced chai latte). I really liked their crab omelette at the MV location. So, I ordered the same thing this time with roasted potato and wheat toast. The omelette was loaded with real crab meat, and the hollandaise sauce was smooth and creamy. My husband enjoyed his chorizo burrito with fruits. The crispy chicken sandwich our daughter ordered had a batter similar to that for fish & chips, and our daughter said it was good. She liked the fries that came with it as well. They serve breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Our food was delicious. I had the Malibu grilled chicken sandwich, and while it was so messy I had to eat it with a knife and fork, it was one of the best sandwiches I've had in recent memory. Other family members had the mushroom burger, club sandwich, Western BBQ burger, and kid's breakfast. Everyone agreed the food was wonderful. There was one tiny little hiccup, if you can even call it that. The menu includes food items only served after 3pm, but I didn't realize that and had my heart set on quesabirria tacos that weren't available for lunch. I finally got to try this place after hearing and reading good things about it from Yelp, NextDoor and word of mouth. Exciting to have a Mexican themed all day brunch spot in the area! I wish I got her name (younger with glasses), as she was so helpful and provided a lot of recommendations. It has been hot in San Jose, so the Fish Tacos just sounded like the right choice. After taking our order, the server didn't check on us until giving us our food and at the end to flag her down for the check. The reason for the low rating was because I watched my food sit under the lamp in the empty restaurant because my server and another worker were in some deep conversation. They had Mexican and American dishes to pick from. My friend decided to order the Philly cheesesteak with fries. And I ordered the Malibu grilled chicken with fries. It's a nice-sized restaurant inside with casual modern decor. They really did a great job making this place look brand new inside. It took about 18 minutes for our food to arrive, which wasn't too bad, considering how busy it was in there. I requested no onions on my sandwich and they forgot to omit them. Our waitress noticed this and quickly took my dish back to have them remove the onions. I really appreciated that. The food was delicious. My friend enjoyed her Philly cheesesteak and I loved my grilled chicken sandwich. My sandwich had a chipotle mayo on it that gave it a great flavor. All the vegetable toppings were super fresh. The tomato slices in particular were thickly cut and fresh-tasting. I loved the avocado in my sandwich as well. They were very generous with all the toppings. Patience Rewarded: Top-Tier Service and a Very Warm Welcome I've been watching the "Coming Soon" sign at Casa Mia with high hopes for months, and I finally had the chance to visit recently with a friend. I'm happy to report it was well worth the wait! The first thing you notice is the beautiful decor--the space is thoughtfully arranged and feels very spacious. They have comfortable seating and a great outdoor area that I'm looking forward to using more as the weather warms up. What truly blew me away, however, was the service. Most new restaurants stumble through "opening jitters," but Casa Mia is an exception. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making us feel genuinely welcome and appreciated. The staff here clearly understands hospitality. The food was fresh and flavorful. Our waitress welcomed us with pan dulce - a courtesy pastry. This place took over Una Mas. We finished our workout at Focus and planned to grab something before heading home to get back to work. We saw this place and assumed it was similar to Una Mas, so we went in. We saw that it was a sit-down restaurant and decided to give them a shot. Extremely long wait time! We waited an hour to get our food! We tried this spot for the first time today (5/10), and honestly, it was a frustrating experience. We came in around 3:05 pm and were seated right away. We had our order in around 3:15, and then... we waited. And waited. After an hour waiting, our food finally hit the table at 4:15 pm! We were starving! (It wasn't just us, either the family with kids at the table next to us also waited 50 minutes for their meal.) What made it worse was that our server completely disappeared! Our server never checked in to explain the delay. The only attention we received was a quick drink refill from another staff member. When I finally asked for an explanation before leaving, we were told a cook had quit the day before. While I understand staffing issues happen, management should be transparent about that upfront! If you know you can't provide timely service, let your customers know before they sit down so they can decide if they want to wait! It's a shame because the food was actually excellent! The chicken nachos might be the best in town! But great food doesn't excuse the hour-long wait, poor planning and zero communication. We won't be back. read more

Every time a new spot opens up yelpers come in, hype it up, and never really critically look at a restaurant. I don't know, I guess I'll always buck that trend, which means I'll never be elite, oh well. Casa Mia's menu has a lot of variety but there's a lack of value, and even worse a premium price for sub premium food. Take for instance my taco salad. The chicken had no grill marks, barely any seasoning and overall pales in comparison to that one Mexican fast food spot that does chicken. Just pale white bits of meat that had been freshly microwaved for all I knew. The other dishes I saw didn't impress. The coconut shrimp was burnt, and the plantains looked like they had been pre cooked, with chocolate syrup drizzled over them. I get that they're plantains but having eaten them a few nights prior from the Bay Area's favorite Jamaican jerk chicken spot, I can very quickly say I've had better. Our party of 6 was considered a large party, so automatic gratuity added with a 3% living wage added with no signs posted conspicuously stating those charges would be added. Service was somewhat chaotic as our 4 of our meals and appetizers came out, but 2 didn't come out for about 6 extra minutes. Flies buzzing around and landing on meals. Really? This is the high end ambiance we're paying for? For Mexican food I expect bolder flavors than the blandness I sampled. I'd expect flies if I was eating outdoors, but this was indoors. These prices I'd expect slightly finer food, but it tasted like warmed up Sysco. 2 out of 5. The reality of what they are to what they try to present themselves as is 2 different things. read more

With the restaurant being called "Casa Mia," we expected the Mexican food to be more authentic and flavorful. If you want a nice place for breakfast it seems to be their strong point.
