A beautiful winery in Napa! I love the gardens & their adorable goats! I came here with my Platypus wine tour group. The wine specialist gave us a rundown about their wines as well as general information about wines. He allowed us to taste the grapes from the vines which I loved, loved, loved! They are much tastier than tables grapes & you can definitely taste the difference between Merlot versus other grapes. What is unique about this winery is that they use solar panels which is so smart considering that they use AC to keep their wine barrels cold. In addition, not only did he give us 5 tasters, allowed us to taste grapes from the vine, but he also allowed us to taste wine from straight out of the barrel! So cool. We had our picnic lunch here & it was a beautiful location to just take in. I am such a fan of dessert wine that I fell in love & bought their 2011 Dorado Late Harvest (my wine tasting fee was waived with the purchase). read more

"Weed Abatement Staff" are two really cute Nubian Goats who just want you to share your lunch with them. So we did. Then we tried two goats red. A nice field blend perfect for pastas and pizzas. The winemaker took us down to the cask room and we tried some still-fermenting wines. We joined their wine club and have been in love ever since. p.s. Thats my mom, above, feeding the goats. Wine Tasting: Hi hello, I'm here, but you're not... do you even care to have a conversation about wine or are you just going to recite me something you memorized? The wine itself was a bit flat in taste and expensive in price. The person pouring the wine had the attitude of a commercial sell out vineyard. I had come here hoping that they'd be interested and excited to see customers since this isn't on the main path. Service can ruin an experience-entirely. If you can't smile then why open up a service like this? Actually I'm going to change this to a one star because I don't like being sold to, I enjoy being spoken to. read more

We stopped by this small winery by recommendation. There were a few people leaving as we got there, and the rest of the time we were the only ones there - so we got a lot of great attention! Robyn took great care of us. We started in the tasting room, and when my 4 year old son mentioned "goats!", she grabbed the wine bottles and walked us outside. We landed at a picnic table near the goat's area. My husband and I got to taste their great wines and our son got to meet Colonel and Elvis. Anthony even hopped out of the tasting room to grab some mustard flowers to give to our son to feed them, and Robyn later went to get a bucket of the food pellets. Happy kid = Happy parents! They also have a lot of neat old gadgets around, so ask questions to find out about them. We bought two bottles of their wine, so our tasting fee was waved. We loved their Tinto and Chenin Blanc. If you are more of a fan of small wineries, stop by here. Next time we may bring our lunch to enjoy here with Colonel and Elvis. read more

Unpretentious place with a social conscience.So un-Napa. I guess an Elvis movie had some scenes shot here way back when. Lots of Elvis memorabelia, cilil rights posters and a rainbow flag flying out front.They also employ several disabled adults.Tasting room is very simple. You tand in front of a table.. $10 tasting fee waived if you purchase wine. One of their signature wines in their Chenin Blanc. Never have been a fan of this white until I tasted theirs. Love this place!! Note: the tastings are currently by appointment only and mostly reserved for their wine club members. If you're lucky enough to get an appointment you will NOT be disappointed. The wines are fantastic and reasonably priced. The property is gorgeous and you'll love visiting their resident goats! It's one of the few places in Napa Valley that still has it's original, rustic charm. After visiting so many corporate-run tasting rooms, this place is a breath of fresh air. You can tell by the way it's run that the owners value the integrity of their wines and the tasting experience of its guests above everything else. On paper this would have been my favorite winery on the day. It was certainly an independent little hippie joint on a dirt road, there are goats in the back and a free vending machine with food, lots of sunflowers, and the tasting room is this modest little house that lacks the pretentious yuppieness that plagues much of wine country. The dude behind the counter is wearing a hawaiian shirt, the stuff on the walls is mostly kitschy music related stuff from the 60's and 70's, with a bad ass mix tape from the same era with a little bit of blues infused. Not only that, but we called seeking a reservation and they offered to see us in 20 minutes. As soon as we walked in i had a feeling i was going to love this place. Then things kind of went to hell. The pourer at a tasting room has such a huge effect on the tasting experience. So much so that if i owned a winery, i would spend lots of time and money searching for people that i thought accurately represented the winery. Apparently Casa Nuestra doesn't share this philosophy. The guy pouring wine here was obviously not happy with his job or excited to see us. He was snark, obnoxiously sarcastic (and i really like sarcasm), and just not funny at all. He was drinking a glass of wine while we were there that he proudly told us was not a Casa Nuestra wine, but when we asked what it was (just for the sake of conversation), he refused to tell us and acted like we had asked some personal and inappropriate question. Toward the end of our tasting some people showed up also looking to do some tasting. We were happy to share the tasting room with them, but instead pourer dude told them they had to wait outside with the goats using the tone of a frustrated kindergarten teacher dealing with misbehaving children. Maybe he thought he was being funny, i just thought he was kind of an ass. Aside from all of that distraction, i just didn't think the wines were all that great. The riesling was pretty good, but not great. The rest were kind of one dimensional and thin, not very full bodied. I heart this winery. It's my favorite little hidden gem in the Valley. Great place to picnic and grab a bottle of wine. It's totally laid back with great wines and friendly staff. I've never had a bad experience at this place and doubt that I ever could. Casa Nuestra is everthing a winery should be without needing any of the glitz and glamour so many Napa wineries depend on. Just wanted to add a few things love Stephanie - she let us pop in and try some of their Charbono (which is awesome, and there is a 2 bottle max on the stuff) - if you have never had good Charbono, you should definately go try it, and get yourself 2 bottles before it totally sells out. I love that they have obscure varieties, and fun names - the Two Goats red (cab and merlot) the Charbono (yes, really, it's an italian grape - go try it! and I'm not just saying that cause my uncle grows the Carbono.. I really really like it as a varietal, and it's not that well known) Plus the have Chenin Blanc, and Reserve Chenin Blanc - few places can you go and still find Chenin Blanc, much less made two different ways. Man, I just had an *experience* while sitting on the deck in my back yard in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. My husband and my daughter + a generous glass of Tinto St. Helena + a hunk of Belgian chocolate, one year past by the "best-by" date + Minnesota-bred mosquitoes = Mom Nirvana! My husband and I spent a portion of our honeymoon in Wine Country, California in 2008 because we couldn't afford to eat if we flew to Europe. Neither of us had ever been to this area in CA so it was a first-time experience for us to share and being newlyweds this appealed to our newly acquired sense of "aww, we're an us!" So being tourists with a hedonistic desire to indulge but no previous knowledge of the area, we hooked up with a guided wine tour--one day in the Napa Valley and another in Sonoma. Each day resulted in a visit to approximately 5 wineries (although I forget the specifics). We bought a bottle or two at each of the wineries we visited because a bottle of wine is a better souvenir than a lousy t-shirt, we knew we'd drink it eventually and also because we found ourselves to be rather drunk after awhile (yesh, yesh I *do* wanna BUY MORE WINE!!!). But when all was said and done, Casa Nuestra was the only winery we signed up to be members of. On first impression... Casual. Small. Laid back. Relaxing. Personable. The wine was delicious and since it was only our second stop of the day; we trusted our initial reaction. Not to mention the fact that people from Minnesota are drawn to hippies like a bees to a flower patch and Casa Nuestra is definitely a snob-free hippie haven! We've been members for two years now and have yet to have received something in our quarterly shipment that we didn't enjoy drinking. Phone conversations to update our address, billing information, whatever, have always been so pleasant that we decided to mail them a Christmas card last year and when they saw that we had a new daughter, a package arrived in the mail addressed to her that included an absolutely gorgeous children's storybook about growing grapes and how wine is made. My fondest memory of Casa Nuestra is the goats. Yes, the goats - Elvis and The Colonel. They greet you with their sweet, goat-y eyes and you're never the same again. Ever. After you've driven down the long, ambling country road and are greeted by the goats, you're welcomed into a very small, rustic house where free tastings are held. Fillmore posters from the '60's and '70's line the walls, and soft music plays from the same period as a sweet gentleman in a cowboy shirt warmly welcomes you. It was like going back in time, people, and I loved it. As is customary, we began with their lightest wine - which in this case they are famous for - which was a Riesling. It was delicious and light and totally refreshing, but being a red drinker I was blown away by their Tinto, which is a very European (and Spanish, at that) concept that you don't see done very often in the US. The juices are blended pre-fermentation, resulting in a soft, juicy, well-balanced wine that I couldn't get enough of, so I bought a few bottles along with my friends. Casa Nuestra has a very chill vibe, a relaxed energy that makes it one of my most favorite wineries we visited during our trip to Napa. It's small, intimate and accessible - there's a story there and you can tell the minute you approach that this place is a labor of love. I could have chilled all day with those wonderful goats and a glass of Tinto, for sure. read more

Casa Nuestra is a total throwback to that mythical Northern California of the 1960s and 1970s (read: mellow). I mean, where else are you gonna find completely delicious wines (with peace symbols in place of UPC bar codes) and a pen of goats? CN is everything I have ever wanted in a winery. Of course, I like their wines (I'm a member of their wine club), but I really enjoy visiting this place. Located up the Silverado Trail, it has NONE of the touristy/commercial vibe found in other parts of the valley...and best yet, there's absolutely NO wine snobbery with either the staff or the guests. read more

Casa Nuestra is an adorable hippy winery on the Silverado Trail. We stopped here on our first trip to Napa after a friend clued us in, and loved it so much we just had to join their wine club. A big friendly dog whom we had a great game of catch with, and yes, two goats, hang out outside the small and kitschy tasting room, which is covered in Elvis Presley memorabilia. They treat club members like family, and most importantly, the wine is great without costing a fortune. read more

Excellent & fun visit! This was another stop on our "dog friendly" winery tour and it was great fun. Hubby & I both thought that the wines were "alright" but the very small/quaint atmosphere and the lady working the tasting room was so helpful that it made the experience. Lots of good wines here. You need an appointment here though the tasting was free..but maybe that's cause we bought stuff..not sure. They were nice enough to let us call for an appointment from the road on our way from rombauer....they said it was totally cool that we stopped by. awesome. We wish we had more time to spend here but we had an appt. for our a tour at schramsberg so we only were here for about 1/2 hour and we could have been here way longer. They poured alot of wines to taste and a lot were different than the other places..which made it really cool. It's fun to try new things. the labels of this wine are also totally lovely and collectorish. another cool thing, they have goats and run on solar energy! rad! oh, back to wine. lots of variety. I would find it hard pressed to not like some of thier wines...if not all of them..and they have stuff that's not like every other place in the area. I actually liked this place and bought a couple of bottles here - the Dry Chenin Blanc and the French Colombard. I prefer reds, but the spring weather just made it impossible not to enjoy the chilled whites. It definitely is a smaller winery that makes less than 4000 bottles or so a year, but they are listed for winning some 2007 Tasting Experience award or something. They only do tasting by appointments but they squeezed us in when we strolled in. Two other groups of folks walked in without appointments as well, but you can't turn away business can you? They are definitely off the beaten path and on Silverado Trail. It was nice not to have deal with the masses on such a great weather day. The guy was very nice and pleasant and we definitely enjoyed our wine tasting with him, no condescending snootiness from him, nor did he drone on and on about wine. He answered our questions and kept it brief. It was nice, because he wasn't robotic with any kind of usual schtick on their wines, we actually had a conversation versus master sommelier and village idiot. Take the time and get off Highway 29 and check them out. After drinking you can amuse yourself with the two goats out in the back! read more

We stopped in at Casa Nuestra on a Saturday afternoon. The sign said "by appointment only" so we called from the parking lot for an appointment and got in! Lucky us, right? The attendants were interesting. One in particular. While I was happy to listen to the history of the winery and the wine, this guy seemed to really just like the sound of his own voice. He spoke for the majority of the time, about where the wine came from, grapes etc. A lot of it was interesting, good info...after a while, it was just uncomfortable and dull. I found myself having a charlie brown moment where the teachers teachings in the classroom become just obnoxious, muffled back round noise. I appreciate them taking time to spend with each party, individually, but I didn't really find anything spectacular about this place. This is a very friendly small winery, with a cute country farm feel. It is not glitzy or fancy like so many of the other Napa wineries, which I find refreshing. We tasted 6 different wines and all were amazing, each person in my group of 7 bought at least one bottle each. You have to try the Symphony and the Meritage, both are memorable and delicious. We bought a picnic lunch, and got to hang out with the 2 goats and Romeo the cat. Beware that one of the goat likes wine because as we leaned in for a picture the goat started licking some wine out of our glass, which we all found funny. Romeo was pretty interested in what the group was eating and hanging out in the sun with us. The addition of the animals help create a fun and friendly atmosphere. I can't wait to go back. read more

This was my favorite stop on our tour of Napa wineries. Napa can be very pretentious and expensive, but Casa Nuestra was so inviting. The grounds are very simple, but comfortable. Our group sat outside under a big oak tree and we tasted probably 5-6 wines. Really good wines. FOR $10. I repeat- tasted 5-6 wines for $10 per person. Wow! Our host even took us back to the barrel room for a barrel tasting. What I really loved was the small, quaint feel of this place. Nothing fancy or over the top. All of the staff really believed in the winery and you could tell they loved it as much as the owner does. Which, by the way, was another awesome feature of this place. The owner (his wife actually) was onsite and talked with all the guests. She even let us walk into the vineyards and taste the grapes. These guys really impressed me. And so did their wines. I'm so glad we visited, and I hope we get to stop by again. Gotta love an old hippie making wine! read more

Love Casa Nuestra. Their laid back and knowledgeable but not obsessive quality is an excellent counterpoint to much of the Napa experience these days (I have a hard time stopping anywhere in Rutherford or Stags Leap these days because it exceeds my tolerance for fancy). Tasting is always informative, and the wines are often both interesting and surprising. They are small, and peak season is not a great time to go there. My husband liked ALL of the wines here more than I did. It wasn't bad wine, just wasn't a personal favorite. However, I did enjoy the Cabernet Sauvignon and the grounds. We did not have an appointment and it was no problem. We were able to enjoy our wine tasting outside at a picnic table and near the two goats Elvis and The Colonel. so much fun! felt like sonoma, low key and more rustic than some of the bigger napa vineyards. guess that's the atmosphere when a vineyard is owned by a hippie! they pour the reds first, which was a nice surprise, and have a 100% cab franc, yum. the tinto and the two goats blends were both interesting. my favorite by far was the carignan, yum. great service - we were invited to chat and share opinions on the wine, and to look/walk around the vines afterwards. the two (baby!!) goats in the yard were delightful and oh so cute! they wagged their tails like little puppies! read more

My friend and I decided to bike from St Helena to Calistoga and back via the Silverado Trail and this was a winery that we sampled on our way back. We went to other wineries along the more frequented Highway 29 but they were more crowded and commercialized. At Casa Nuestra we were warmly greeted by the owner and his son, even though we had just dropped in randomly and were sporting helmet hair :P We gathered around the tasting table with 2-3 other small groups of tasters and were treated to some wonderful and complex wines from the winery, one of them the quite rare Charbono, their famous Two Goats Red, an excellent Meritage, Cabernet Franc, Tinto, Cabernet Sauvignon, Symphony, and French Colombard, several of which are award winning. They seemed to all be of good price for the quality of the wine ($20-$60 with many in between) Tasting was $10 and they gave us a lot of attention even though we were sharing. This winery is family-owned and seems to pay a lot of attention to quality and to educating its visitors about the different wines, how they are grown, and about various blends -- they very nice and non-snobby to beginners and foreigners alike! I also purchased a bottle of the French Colombard to gift to my parents and they waive the tasting fee with a purchase which makes it worth it. I would definitely come back here. In general it seems so much more enjoyable and friendly to stick to family-owned wineries when I visit the Napa Valley again! Now I just need to see if I can buy their wine in southern California :) They have a nice outdoor area where you can sit and taste their wines outside of the tasting house, and picnic tables (where we ate the lunch that we had brought). read more

Came here during their normal business hours - we were treated extremely rudely by someone in the tasting room - one of the worst Napa winery experiences we have had. They said they were closed, even though we were here prior to their closing hours. Started yelling at us, we became very uncomfortable and left. Not a good experience at all. read more

This is one of my favorite wineries in Napa. It's small, unpretentious, freindly, and has amazing wines.

I really enjoyed this small winery, made me feel like I was in Sonoma County. My only complaint is that there isn't a whole lot of room to sit or stand for that matter inside. The staff was very friendly, they poured for us even though they were near closing and genuinely seemed like they were glad to do it. The wine was very good- I particularly liked the Cab Franc. The nice thing is, they do some interesting, lesser sen varietals than most the rest of the valley. A nice dry Chenin Blanc and even a Riesling. They even do a "Tinto" from 8 different varietals as in a red from Portugal or France. Their "meritage" is a nice right bank-style red blend. Friendly host. Casual, rock-n-roll themed room.
