My son and I ate at Casarecce before taking in a show on Hanover St on a beautiful Saturday evening. The al fresco dining on the North End is inviting, and there were a few tables available there. Now, I know why. The waiter was very friendly and started off with pleasant conversation. We ordered Bruschetta for appetizer; I ordered the "Casarecce Sausage and Broccoli Rapi"; my son ordered the Chicken Cacciatore. We ordered a bottle of Chianti Riserva. Bread and water was provided for the table; the water was clean tasting, but the bread was basically plain white bread, and the small bowl of olive oil had neither spices - nor great flavor. The Bruschetta never arrived. Entrees were disappointing: mine had minimal broccoli rabe (mostly stems), gummy pasta, and mashed, tasteless sausage. I asked my son how his Cacciatore was; he shrugged and said "OK". When I made the waiter aware of our appetizer never arriving, he asked if he could bring us some more bread. I politely said OK, although I had no particular interest. That bread never arrived, either (no loss). Casarecce gets its two stars because the setting was pleasant, as was the waiter. Unfortunately, the food and service was greatly lacking, and next time I'm on the North End, I plan on finding a better restaurant (and there are many of them!) read more

The best. Didn't even get a pic of my food I was too excited to eat it. Our table of five got five different dishes and we all ate them. The best is the shrimp scampi then lobster ravioli. Third was the lamp ragu dish then the veal santibora then the pesto gnocchi. Everything was a 10/10. We'd come here again and eat the same thing. This was my first trip to North End after 15 years and I really wanted to try out a smaller more authentic Italian restaurant. And boy were we impressed! Cute little restaurant with excellent food and service. Service is not warm and fuzzy but surely attentive and they know their food. Food was extremely fresh and very good quality. I had the pesto knocchi and others in our group tried the lasagna, sausage pasta, lobster ravioli and everyone raved about their dish. A must try when you visit that part of town. read more

I don't usually write reviews but this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. If my lactose-intolerant-self had to choose between this place and a bathtub of milk, I'd drown myself in the milk. The service was absolutely awful. It took forever for our server to come greet us and we had to flag him down every time we needed something. Don't even get me started on the food. My date's dish was basically crusty noodles bathing in oil, and the only thing drier than my food was our server when he had to talk to us. Came here for dinner tonight with my boyfriend although it was not our intention. We had reservations else where. The smell coming from the kitchen stopped us dead in our tracks! We took a look at the menu and decided to eat here. The staff was so friendly and our waiter was so attentive! We got the meatballs which were absolutely delicious, my boyfriend got the lasagna that was absolutely ginormous! He scrapped the whole plate clean. Casarecca was delicious! 100% would recommend for a true Italian cuisine experience. I went to Casarecce on a Tuesday night with my roommates. The staff allowed us to choose the table near the window so we could enjoy the open windows onto Hanover street. We were greeted by kind waiters and immediately felt welcomed. Our waters were poured immediately and were constantly filled throughout the night - even when the glass wasn't empty ! Our waiter answered all of our menu questions, and provided us with complimentary bread, oil and Parmesan cheese as we scanned the menu. I ended up getting chicken saltimbocca - they accommodated for me and allowed me to switch the veal to chicken and to add vegetables. I was very happy with my dish and pleased that the staff was able to make the dish I was hoping for. Chicken was flavorful, with the perfect amount of cheese and prosciutto, and the vegetables were so tasty - they gave me a smorgasbord of veggies on the side ! One roommate had the chicken Parmesan dish. She had a HUGE serving of chicken and said it was absolutely delicious. Looked amazing so I can only imagine! My other roommate ordered the eggplant Parmesan. She as well enjoyed her dish. She said the pasta which is homemade was one of the best tasting pastas she's ever had. We each had a glass of Chianti wine and could not have been more happier with our experience. The small Italian feel of Casarecce is incredibly inviting and makes for a memorable dining experience. One of the BEST Italian restaurants I have ever eaten in! I am a Bolognese connoisseur, and this was by far the BEST Bolognese Pappardelle I have ever eaten! We chose this restaurant on a whim, based on yelp reviews when we couldn't get into a neighboring restaurant and it was FANTASTIC. "Homemade" goes a very long way at this restaurant, and the quality of the house-made-daily pasta was nothing short of superb. There is something to be said for simplicity, and Casarecce does an incredible job of bringing fresh, simple ingredients together in a dish that allow for every bite to fill your soul with flavor. Given the times, the atmosphere was still welcoming and homey, and Martin was a fantastic host/waiter. Casarecce is a welcome addition to the North End. It took over the old Pinkberry space on Hanover and the service was friendly/quick. Pasta is all homemade and was great. Recommend the casarecce pasta. The meatballs were excellent. Bread was served warm contrary to an earlier review. There is no bar - tables only. Little windows will be nice to open in the summer for fresh air. Would love it if they used OpenTable for reservations. Note to owners: Do yourself a favor and don't look cheap. There's a small "rules" paragraph on the menu that says you'll enforce a "$5 splitting charge" if you split a plate, and a $10 per credit card fee if you have more than 3 cards to split the bill. Bump the entree prices a dollar each, and then remove this silly paragraph. It doesn't leave a good initial impression with your guests. After all, the tables are so small, the odds of having more than 3 credit cards is unlikely. And people like to split things, duh. read more

We originally planned to go to Carmelina's down the street but there was a 45 minute wait, and we were super hungry after a whale watching cruise. This place was just down the block and had immediate seating. The waiter, Justin, greeted us at the door, told us they had all fresh pasta, made in house daily, so we decided to give it a try. All of the food was fresh and delicious. And the service was wonderful. We really enjoyed the meatball spring roll appetizer. The carbonara was amazing - creamy and flavorful. Casarecce just opened a couple months ago and we'd been meaning to try it. We invited my brother in law to join my wife and I. The place is tiny - tables for perhaps 30 diners, so I'm glad we called for reservations. We arrived at 1:30 to find our table had just been cleared -- there was just one other table open and it was filled 10 minutes later. Moe, our server, was excellent accommodating, helpful and very attentive without crossing the line to cloying. He refilled glasses as needed without disturbing our conversation, yet was always nearby if we had a question. Our delicious bread basket arrived right away - warm and fresh with a side of EVOO and a bowl of shredded parmesan. All of the pasta is made in-house and cooked to al dente perfection. The sauces were flavorful but refined and well-balanced so we could savour both the pasta and the sauces. My brother and I split the fried calamari appetizer which arrived within minutes of our placing the order. A plate of freshly fried calamari rings and tentacles with a side of spicy marinara sauce. The squid was perfectly cooked, firm but no rubbery, encased in a thin batter breading that was obviously fried in fresh oil - no hint of the greasy feel and aftertaste that comes from overused old oil. Moe and the chef planned it so that the main course arrived just as we finished the last of the calamari. Malfadine with pesto, Casarecce with EVVO broccolini rapi, and Gnocchi verdi. If the rest of the menu is as good as our selection, Casarecce deserves induction into culinary heaven. Exquisite fresh, in-house made pasta en-robed in subtly refined but richly flavorful sauces. Though some mills serve high portions of mediocrity, the portions at Casarecce are balanced. My brother-in-law and I were pleasantly full after the appetizer and main course, while my wife - who sampled just one calamari ring, was full with 1/3 of her gnocchi still on the plate. [Great! Sauce was light and not overpowering... just right. Unfortunately, it's not enough if you are REALLY hungry. Would be perfect for lunch. Wife had Chicken Parmigiana which I got to finish for her...Enormous portion and delicious! Son had Chicken Cacciatore. He wasn't thrilled about the sauce but liked the dish enough to leave nothing on the plate. Again, generous portion. Just found out this has only been open for 10 weeks. Obviously, they have worked out any issues new restaurants usually encounter and are well on their way. Highly recommend! read more

First time at Casarecce. First, the food. The antipasto was $17.00 and ridiculously bad. There were 4 of us and it could barely feed 2. It was 3 slices of thin salami and some toasted bread with diced tomatoes, and a bunch of iceberg lettuce. Terrible. Two people had the eggplant parm and it was good, but nothing special. Another person had the lobster scampi and it was good. The final person had the lasagna which was dry and bland. Portions are small. Bottle of wine cost $50.00. Service was poor and the waiters are loud and annoying. Ok, so the bill. It was hand-written by the waiter and scribbled in an attempt to make it unreadable. I did the math anyhow and the waiter overcharged us $20.00. Whe I called it to his attention, he faked being surprised and insulted. But, he re-did the bill with more scribbles over his bad math. Had heard that Casareece was a great place for homemade pasta and amazing authentic Italian dishes. It definitely is what i was told. For our entrees we ordered the Shrimp risotto and the homemade cheese ravioli. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and the risotto was perfectly creamy the homemade ravioli was incredible. We also ordered to sangrias for drinks that were one of the best I've ever had. We will be back next time we are in the Boston area. read more

We stopped here last night and got a table no problem. They have a great set up for Covid-19 restrictions, about 10 tables or so outdoors on the blocked off street section with umbrellas. They have an indoor single person bathroom and do ask that you wear a mask inside. The space is cleared as all their tables are now outside, but when things do open back up, it is a smaller space and could get crowded easily. The food was excellent - we had Veal Parmigana and Casarecce Chicken Vodka. Our waiter, Mohammed, brought our drinks and bread (with oil and grated cheese), gave up ample time to order with a thorough review of the different pasta they offer (upon request). The portions were perfect - too often when you order pasta dishes there is just too much, this was the right amount to feel full but not stuffed when you finish your dish. Mohammed checked on us, brought us wine, and did not rush us through our meal. Some other reviewers said it took too long to get their check, but I appreciated that he let us relax and enjoy our last glass of wine before bringing the check. I was so excited to try this new place in the North End. Service was great, and the food was good, but didn't blow my mind. It seemed under salted. There is complimentary bread that is good, but there is also bread that is better. I had the pasta with alfredo, and I liked that they leave a container of parmesan at the table for you. Once I cheesed and salted the way I wanted, I was happy, and the lunch portion was large, but not large enough I was rolling out of there, to me, I'm okay with that as I had nowhere for leftovers anyhow.
