If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I had actually written this place off over a year ago because I kept getting the same terrible server in addition to cold food, wrong food, etc.. well my friend picked this place and I thought OK it's been a while. I'll give it another try. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. I wasn't super hungry, so I just ordered a bowl of mushroom soup and a side salad. The mushroom soup was OK, nothing to write home about. My side salad was good and fresh but they only give you like 2 tablespoons of dressing for the salad. Our server disappeared shortly after the food was delivered by someone else. She didn't come by to check on us or anything. My friend finally flagged down the hostess nearby, and I asked for additional salad dressing. When the bill came, I saw that they had charged me $1.50 for the additional salad dressing. I called BS on this move. When the server came back I didn't have my credit card out and I told her she needed to remove that charge as I was never told about it and it was not legal for them to put a charge on there without my approval, then she said that the salad dressing was still sitting there. What is that got to do with anything? And that she wasn't the one who brought it over. Exactly! You disappeared on me completely! I try to explain to her that it didn't matter who brought me the salad dressing. The point of the matter was that I was never told that there was an up charge for it and I wasn't paying for it. She looked pretty disgusted and grabbed the tab and took it back to be removed. Then when she came back, she instigated an argument with me over how restaurants will usually charge more for extra dressing, how I didn't use it all, etc. etc.. worst demonstration of customer service I have seen in a long time! I was so mad I told the manager nearby. He apologized, but offered nothing other than an apology. My friend was shocked that he didn't take my meal off the bill or offer something monetary. I told him in no uncertain terms I would never be coming back. My friend at this point was mad also, so neither one of us tipped the horrible server. From the looks of the parking lot, plenty of people are willing to pay high dollar for mediocre food in an atmosphere, that appeals to them. I will never understand this! I have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the United States and abroad. Don't people go eat in a restaurant for the food? I get that people like a nice atmosphere, but what good is that if the food is crappy and the service is even worse? Like many have said, the food really is very bland . It's quite a shame, as this restaurant used to be so good years ago, but that was many many years ago, and whoever owns this establishment now, simply doesn't seem to care about customer service, or the quality of food they send out. read more

Reasonably good location and venue with ample outdoor seating. Service is friendly, if a bit on the slow side. Food is definitely below par, but it is not terribly expensive. I recently had dinner at the Cascade Roadhouse with my son. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather before it got cold again. On the plus side, the hostess was very friendly as was our server. There are what appears to be several decent options on both the adult and kid's menus, and they have a fair drink list. My son got the kid's 1/4 lb burger and I got the pulled pork tacos as an app and "The Back 40" burger for my main. It took more than 35 minutes for our food to come out and my appetizer came out with our dinner. The pulled pork was very mushy and quite bland. Almost no sauce was on it and honestly, I only ate it because I was ravenous. My burger was essentially flavorless as well, which wouldn't have been too bad except that the quality of the meat was terrible. Again, I only ate it because I was so desperately hungry. My son said his burger was ok. He typically loves French fries, but he didn't end up eating all of his because they were "dry". I had one and they were definitely over-done. I do plan on coming back to try some of the other menu items, but I suspect it may only be advisable to get a drink or two here while enjoying the outdoor seating area on a nice night. read more

Hubby and I went to dinner here 2 nights ago. We were greeted by a friendly hostess who quickly seated us. The place is cozy is a modern rustic setting. The fireplace was super cute. I did feel a bit crowded with the other tables. The ladies next to us made it hard to have conversation because they were so close and gossiping about their coworkers. Our waitress was very fast and friendly. She brought our drinks very quick and even made beer suggestions for my husband. I ordered potato skins and he ordered the Roadhouse Burger with onion rings. All of the food was amazing and cooked perfect. I do have to say that the onion rings were the star of the show. I could have eaten 3 plates of those alone. Yummy!!! Stopped in with a large work group for lunch and we enjoyed our time. This was my first time stopping in so I can't comment on the changes but it's definitely updated. Our service was friendly and quick. They did get confused when they had other servers come out and help run the food but our main waitress quickly stepped in to straighten everything out. This use to be one of our favorite restaurants but after tonight, I doubt we will ever return. Both my wife and I ordered the prime rib special. My wife's prime rib was almost unedible. Her side of onion rings were a mix of rings and a mass of batter. With my order, the green beans were barely cooked. My prime rib was somewhat better than my wife's but very tough with little taste. We communicated our concerns to our server and she apologized but I don't believe it went any further. A unfortunate and expensive experience. read more

Just a word of warning...do not order the Jalapeno Pineapple Margarita. It's basically just a little tequila and an awful amount of diced jalapenos and jalapeno juice. I like spicy but this was not pleasant at all. You know what jalapenos do to your fingers when you cut them without gloves on? Imagine that in your stomach! And I barely drank any of it. I was sick, sick sick for two days and counting. Not good. Take it off the menu or teach someone about balancing flavors. Mercy!!! read more

Not impressed. The place was super hot and stuffy that it feels like I was suffocating. Absolutely no air flow. The server was clearly inexperienced and slow. The appetizers were good we had the artichoke dip and the bang shrimp. The kitchen was very slow we got another foods table first and then ours. The fettuccine with shrimp was bland with no flavor and no color. The chicken bourbon was also not seasoned try salt and pepper. The only flavor was from the jam on it. The perch was good but left the fries soggy putting it on top of the fries. I should never have to ask for water and I ran out a couple of times especially when that is the only thing I am drinking. It was very loud in there and the tables are so close together. I was relieved when finished and we could get outside and breathe. It was about 20 degrees cooler outdoors. Don't think I will be back. Ok it's been over 2 yrs and we were told by friends this place is better. Should have stuck with my gut. The food was subpar. They should look at other restaurants when trying to copy an appetizer. The Thai bang shrimp was soggy and the batter falls apart and half had tails. Not impressed. We had a sirloin and the Demi glaze had sooo much pepper you could choke. Also maybe if you are gonna call it garlic mash you probably should put garlic in it. The salmon was ok but the Gouda pasta had one flavor cheese. The chicken was indistinguishable and super dry. They were cut in such small pieces. Didn't bother finishing. I am glad to say the are consistent the air didn't work. The sweat running off of our drink glasses melted the ice rather quickly. Also it is unfortunate to have to ask for more water. Decision is permanent we won't ever go back. It's a shame that another local restaurant can't get it right. read more

The shrimp appetizer which was half off was really tasty and plentiful; there were eight that the three of us shared. My northern salad with chicken was large and plentiful; and I did enjoy it. Cascade Roadhouse seemed to have so much promise. Recently renovated, now part of the GIlmore Collection, a full parking lot promising an area a lot of people enjoy, and so much more. But, it didn't live up to expectations. The best part of the visit was walking in to see that there was no wait and we were seated immediately. The entrance (in the rear) boasts an outside seating area that I can only assume was designed with a long wait in mind. There currently are no tables and only a nice, long bench situated around the covered area. Inside you're treated to something somewhat like a cabin atmosphere. The outside kind of looks like someone's nice little cottage home, so it is fitting. We were greeted and immediately walked to out table in the busy, packed dining room. When I say packed, I do mean it. The table we were sat at was the only open one and it is amazing we didn't have to wait. Good timing on our part. Not only was every table full... they are CLOSE together. This is NOT the place to plan a murder, people. Or even discuss anything remotely private. Tables are so damn close together, we could literally reach over and snag a fry off the plate of the dude to which I was sitting next. I could smell his aftershave. I could make out the inscription on his wife's wedding band. We were close. We were given the menus which were disappointingly small. I guess in some aspects you want small - having a few items you do exceptionally well is preferable over a large menu where everything is only so-so. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt - but few items on the menu seemed that interesting or even unique. Almost typical bar fare with the prices of a more upscale place, which Cascade Roadhouse definitely tries to give off. I ordered a Cajun Bleu Cheese Burger and my dining partner (my mom) ordered a gouda/chicken pasta dish. My burger, ordered medium-rare, came out much closer to medium-well. I toyed with the idea of sending it back, but decided against it. The 15-20 minutes it took to get seemed a bit much and I wasn't willing to wait again. Hamburgers are hard to screw up, and this one wasn't entirely, but it didn't really wow me either. This was nowhere even as good as a Red Robin burger and I was pretty unimpressed. My mom loved her entree but, again, was underwhelmed. For something that sounded somewhat unique/original it basically tasted like any other pasta/chicken dish you could order anywhere - even Olive Garden. I found it a bit bland (she didn't finish it all because she wanted dessert, so I got the leftovers). Every restaurant has the brownie/cake and ice-cream dessert and since they're so commonplace, I find it to be the measuring stick to compare all restaurant desserts to. Cascade Roadhouses is somewhat reminiscent of a lava cake, but lacking the ooey gooey chocolate filling found inside that. It was passable, but very rich. Throughout our dining, service was definitely on point and we were extremely well taken care of despite the busy-ness of the restaurant. Our server deserves top marks for being so attentive and really knowing her stuff. Which seems to be this places most endearing quality. For its price, quality, and overall experience I think Cascade Roadhouse could lower its prices or more reasonably organize its interior so as patrons aren't literally rubbing elbows. I've had much better experiences for much less money in entirely more relaxed atmospheres. Cascade Roadhouse, I wish you the best of luck, but I won't be back unless I'm invited by a Victoria's Secret Angel. read more

We love the new renovation ! My group just came in for drinks, but our server was so amazing and attentive that we ended up ordering appetizers! (Could have been the need to munch after a drink too). The specialty drinks were tasty. I recommend the Traverse City Sangria or the Cascade Cupcake. My group stayed for a while- laughing and having fun, and we were never rushed to leave. Even after we paid our bills, she continued to check on us and bring more water- that kind of service will bring us back over and over again! We can wait to come back this summer when the patio opens. read more

This is exactly what Cascade has been needing. The place is fresh and clean. It maintains the quirky old roadhouse layout but it finally is paired with good food. I had the sirloin steak covered in onions, mushrooms and a Demi glaze. Cooked to medium rare on the dot. At $18 with potatoes and broccoli it is perfectly priced. Enjoy going to the Cascade Roadhouse. I've been there 6 times, so it can't be bad. Just want to pass along some suggestions. 1. If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful dinner, timing is everything. Avoid Friday & Saturday nights. If you do decide to go on the weekend, get there early! They open at 5:00pm. 2. The closer you sit near the bar area the more intense the noise. There was nothing done to control the noise so don't plan on being able to hear the person next to you, either in the bar area itself or the cute little room next to the bar area. Especially on Friday or Saturday. Now that being said, if you're young you may not care about screaming to the top of your voice only to have the person 4 inches away from you yell "what did you say?" 3. The tables are all very close to one another. Not a terrible thing, but don't plan on talking about anything you wouldn't share with 30 other strangers. 4. Like many restaurants when it's cold or rainy and you can't wait outside, there is very little space to stand. What makes it really bad is that the poor waitress's must go back and forth from the kitchen to the bar area right where you are standing (not by choice but because there is so little room and so many people waiting). Poor design in my opinion. 5. When the outdoor eating area is finished it will be lovely. I do hope they have a better plan for the waitress's to get outside then through that one small door where people will be standing. 6. Go there and enjoy. Just do some planning ahead. read more

We absolutely loved the decor and outdoor seating at Cascade Roadhouse. It was a busy night and chilly so we went inside. They were able to seat us right away, as most folks were looking for a four top and we only had two. They put us in a teeny tiny small alcove off the main dining room. The noise bounced off all the walls from everyone talking that most of the time, my date and I were shouting at each other. I got a headache from all the noise pollution by the end of dinner. The food was fantastic, the wine was really good and our waitress wasn't in a rush. I would go back, but not sit in the alcove. read more

Had the prime rib, and it was terrible. It came out at room temperature and solid as a brick. I sent it back, and 15 minutes later it came back slightly warmer. I'm not sure why it took so long. The 'skin' was flavorless and rubbery, and the meat had a strange texture and off flavor. When the server delivered our meals, she'd forgotten to get us silverware, which is an acceptable and easy to correct mistake. Instead, she went back to the bar, served a few patrons their drinks, before finally returning with our silverware. My wife had the parmesan encrusted chicken, which was served on a HUGE bed of flavorless noodles mixed with a little bit of fresh tomato and artichoke hearts. It wasn't awful, but it was nothing to write home about, either. So overall, terrible service, bad food, and we will not be returning. read more

We went to the new cascade roadhouse, and the place was packed and service was a little slow, that can be expected being new and a Fri.night, and it takes a little time to get things adjusted, at this time there menu is very Limited, we had the spinach artichoke appetizer with a Patty melt and it was great, the Walker Road house is the same and they have great food and a expanded menu and I'm sure Cascade Roadhouse will do the same in time. We visited the Roadhouse on a Thursday night and it was pretty quiet. There wasn't anything vegan on the menu, so I ordered salmon. I asked to substitute sauteed spinach and a salad for the spinach and linguini with cream sauce. The waitress refused because I'd be getting two items in the place of one. I think her math skills need work, but she did offer to "throw some red potatoes on" for free, so I guess I still ended up with two sides. Unfortunately the red potatoes were undercooked, but the sauteed spinach was tasty. The salmon was plain grilled salmon with nothing on it. I felt a bit disappointed at first that there was no tasty sauce on it, but ended up squirting lemon on and thinking that I was eating more heathfully. The popover that came with the meal was tasteless. Maybe popovers are supposed to be tasteless? I am not sure I've ever eaten one before. Even the "honey butter" served with it didn't jazz it up. It didn't taste very butter-like or honey-like, so I'm not sure what was in it. My husband got some sort of beef -- tenderloin or prime rib? He found it "pretty good", and thought the fries were good too, but didnt' really like the popover. Our tablemates got cheeseburgers and fries, which they found quite tasty. The waitress left us for a long while and came back smelling like she'd been on a smoke break, but was otherwise attentive and friendly (with the exception of the math issue...). I wouldn't really choose to go back to this restaurant, but wouldn't object if others wanted to. Some of the sandwiches on the menu looked darn tasty for meat eaters. read more

We got together for a ugly sweater dinner with friends and loved our entire experience! The food was amazing!! And our server Jen was fantastic and did not miss a beat, she was calm, attentive, fast, courtious and with a table of 12 there were not issues and all the food came out hot! The apps were really good, can't pick one that I liked the most, bang thai shrimp, bruchetta and spinach dip were sooo good and so much to share. The ribeye was perfect and tender and tasted amazing, cooked to perfection! The Gouda chicken pasta was the best! My husband and I will go back! It is an ABSOLUTE shock that this spot hasn't been hit by a Yelper yet. Yelpers, seriously. C'mon now! The Cascade Roadhouse has been around for a while, and a few years back their dining room went through a small and very effective facelift. Think Ian Schrager on a budget. Trendy but not timeless. This spot has for years been famous for their overstuffed spuds, huge beyond huge extra large potatoes stuffed with all sorts of toppings and baked. They basically take your healthy baked potato and kill anything that was healthy about it by throwing cheese, butter, and sauteed, grilled, and reduced items all over it! The burger is top notch. The fish and chips, OMG! And they're always good for a special that will blow your hair back. Stop in the bar half of this eatery and you'll find a wood floored, wood paneled, wooden tabled and chaired paradise. Smokey, sure, but it's a bar so get over it. On many days throughout the week the entertainment is worth twice what your bill will be at this value of a spot. Why? Cause it's Karaoke Night again! Many of the neighboring yuppies come here to sing and sing poorly. And the guy who dresses as Elvis? Yup, his net worth is through the roof I'm sure. Cascade Roadhouse is fantastic for lunch or dinner, a great value, consistently great food, and the bar is one of the best in the city. Tip: get the burger. Really. read more

Consistence and quality! We had dinner there once again tonight and, as always the atmosphere was modern yet warm and the service was good. Kat was very attentive but, not overbearing. The selection of both food and beverage was good (as always). We ordered the Seasonal "Mac and Cheese." While it seemed a little slow in getting our food, Kat came out, apologized, and said our 1st drinks were on the House. When our Entrees came out, they were warm, loaded with seafood, and delicious. Again Kat apologized for the slow delivery. When we were done, Kat offered us comped desert and coffee. We split the Lava Cake alamode and it was delicious. A great area restaurant with good atmosphere, service, selection, and reasonable pricing. We didn't and you won't go wrong here! read more

Getting better and better! Many different dinning rooms and the outside eating and drinking area (with fireplaces) is great in warmer weather...especially when they have entertainment. I happened upon the Cascade Roadhouse on a Tuesday, Taco Tuesday and enjoyed the Mahi tacos. Great value for great tacos. Would definitely recommend the Roadhouse. The beer was also great. I do enjoy an establishment that offers IPA's. read more

Always love this place. Have come here for years. Was back in town and our group met there. They totally remodeled the courtyard. Fire place, heaters etc for cooler weather. Outdoor bar and seating. Big screen TV. And the food is AWESOME!!! read more
