It was an a-ok place for me. Nothing caught my eye except for the overly short shorts that every female waitress was wearing. I realized that this must be what it feels like to go to Hooters (never been). It was really disturbing to the eye. Plus, there were little kids dining there with parents... (smh). My all-time favorite country food is country-fried steak so undoubtedly I ordered their renowned, "The C.I.G. Favorite Country Fried Steak" with sides, mashed potatoes and green beans. Wow, the best part of that meal was the sides and that's not saying much. The country fried steak was all crust and barely no meat... (smh again). Was treated to lunch by a co-worker that lives in the area. He said it was a huge favorite among locals and that we had to eat here. Decor-interior is pretty cool, it's dark with simple tables and chairs. I like the country bar/diner decor with lots of country knickknacks and license plates on the walls. It's also quite roomier then it looks from the outside. Service-great! The ladies here are nice and engaging and very attentive. Our waitress was very sweet and I enjoyed talking to her. Food-don't think the food is why this place is popular, because it's a little less then average. Meat log special wasn't anything special and the burger was greasy and didn't have much flavor. I have had some amazing chicken fried steak but this was the best. It was very busy but there is a definitely a sense of urgency here and the customer service is fantastic. Came into Cast Iron Grill for breakfast today. I had the Big Hearty Breakfast and it hit the spot. It comes with 3 eggs, 2 choices of meat (bacon, ham or sausage) and 2 choices of potatoes (hash browns or fried potatoes), as well as a biscuit, toast or pancake. Dropped into this hidden gem for lunch yesterday a little after one in the afternoon. The decor is warm and inviting with a true West Texas feel to it. Instantly you are greeted with the display of the hand made desserts that near send you into a diabetic coma right then and there. Me and my party of two other adults and one child under four was seated and looking over the menu in less the seven minutes even though their lunch rush was still in full swing. I cut into it and it gives the most satisfying crunch noise. My mind then wanders to the fried green beans. The beans are so large and fresh. I dip them in the ranch and bite into it revealing a perfect center, a bean lightly hanging from the pod. Opon walking in it smells amazing... The decor is very odd, floor needs redone flaking...Not sure why they have a bar in center of room with NO booze being served? But the place is very clean. I went to tech for 4 years but I've never tried this place before so when I came up to visit I wanted to grab some brunch before I left and I'm glad I made this stop. They have this small back parking lot which kinda sucked but there's parking across the street from them that's more spacious. Pick something and order it. The selection at lunch is very diverse. Personally I love the grilled pork chops. So tasty and moist with a great seasoning. I'm not sure of this but I bet they brine them. The wait staff is the best. From the waitresses to the busboys. You never feel rushed but their efficiency moves people in and out very methodically. And not to a fault. We never felt rushed to get done. Never. Get there early for lunch. So worth it. Lines definitely form if you get there later. But worth it. I need to check out breakfast here.
