I decided to eat a good breakfast while getting some major admin work done and went to Chicken Run. I ordered the Hiker's Benedict since I was specifically craving Eggs Benedict. But being neurosparkly has its challenges that show up in the weirdest ways. While I have a very open palate and can be a total foodie, I can get very weirded out by textures. So when my meal came with all of the toppings chopped up into small cubes, I simply couldn't enjoy it. The waitress asked about it, and I told her it's my own weirdness and not to worry about it. They still took the meal off even though I fully planned to pay. I don't share this so that people will abuse their kindness, but so that people will know that this is a business with heart. At a time when I'm feeling like especially sensitive about being too much, this little thing meant so much to me. I will absolutely return here. Thank you, Chicken Run - Lubbock. I got the chicken strips, mashed potatoes & gravy, macaroni & cheese, biscuit and a piece of pie, and it was all great!!!!! The pie is to DIE FOR. Highly recommend the chicken fried steak, too. YUMMM!!! All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. You will never find a server without a smile on her cute little West Texas face! I have to say I really like this place.Love all the adorable signs they have at the front of the store and the decorations that adorn the rest of the walls. Went here on a Monday when it was apparently closed. Went again on Friday for lunch and boy was I glad to have gone back. We were a big group and every single person was satisfied with what they had ordered. I'm not a big dessert person but the pie I shared with a friend was super duper delicious as well. I've recommended this place to every one who has ever since asked for my lunch place recommendation. I had the chicken fried steak and it was well battered and cooked to perfection. Service was great. The iced teas kept coming and the water glass was never empty. The portions are huge too so if you have a small appetite, you'll have something to look forward to for dinner as well. There was a kid in our group who ate all greens on his plate. Probably the best breakfast place in Lubbock. I've started to have business meetings there every week I like it so much. Last week I had the French toast breakfast, I've never had French toast that good before! Excellent. This week I had the normal eggs over easy, bacon and wheat toast. Good, eggs were a little under cooked but not a big deal. Coffee was great. The waitresses are top of the line here. The waitress we had both weeks was excellent. Extremely nice, and fast as anything! Coffee is constantly topped off. Just an excellent environment, food, and service. I highly recommend this place. read more

Cast Iron has terrific food. Our last server went out of her way to go ahead and let us order breakfast even though we didn't know they had stopped serving it. After we found this out we were just fine with ordering lunch but she insisted it was perfectly fine. She provided great service, wish I remembered her name. The cooks are great and the desserts are phenomenal. We frequent here often, both breakfast and lunch/dinner are fantastic. I recommend the chicken fried steak! Their prices are great too. Excellent spot. Me and my family will continue to be regulars here. read more

Alright. I'm a 24 year old man from Texas, and I've never bothered to leave a food review in my life. I downloaded yelp and created an account to tell you that not going to cast iron grill is the equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot with a 12 gauge. Eat here. Now. Order the French toast. Go early, oh and if you get Brandy as your server you better tip her or I'm gonna find you and hurt you. 10/10, 5 stars, full fuckin bingo. Perfect southern vibe. I was in Lubbock for 3 weeks straight. I must've eaten here 15 times. They have a special everyday and the pies are to die for. If you get there after 1145 you will wait in line and if you don't get your pie when you walk in there won't be any left when you finish your lunch. When we got there and explained who we were, they showed us to a space that was not closed off and there was a great deal of ambient noise as well as that space was not able to accommodate our group without negatively impacted our business meeting nor the other customers in the cafe. When we explained to the 3 waitresses that we were promised the larger and more secluded room, their response was "well, we gave it to another group. If you don't like it, you can leave..." My wife and I were stunned. Never have we been so disrespected by someone in a customer service position. Needless to say, we won't be back. And my wife was a loyal customer for decades! Not only did you lose a 20 person table that would have provided a LOT of revenue and tips, we will ABSOLUTELY make sure everyone we know, hears about how awful Red Zone Cafe treats customers and groups. I highly encourage people to stay FAR away from this business. They are not even remotely customer friendly. You need to do better! Have the day you deserve!
