Espresso and pistachio gelato
Jennifer J.

Must!! The gelatos: strawberry, pistachio, and stracciatella were exactly what we remembered when traveling throughout Italy. We missed Sicily the most and to see this cafe with quality as an importance was a delight! We also received 2 espressos that also showcased that high standard! Would definitely come back!

Italian goods for sale

Cute Italian cafe with imported goods for sale. I just got a coffee but would return to try other items. I got a little cookie/biscotti for my first visit, which was a nice touch. They have some seating inside to take a load off. Parking is street or local lot nearby.

Super cute cafe! I took the coffee and espresso class and learned so much! Loved how intimate the class was. We were able to learn about the history of coffee, learn how to make it, and then make it ourselves. Nando was a great teacher!

Nutella latte (so good)

Amazing food, great service, and such affordable prices! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and made with quality ingredients. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick even though the place was busy. It's hard to find a spot that offers this level of quality at such reasonable prices. I'll definitely be coming back to try more items on the menu. Highly recommend if you're looking for a delicious meal :)

It is open as of November 16. Cute little cafe with coffee, pastry, savory small plates and appetizers I had the arancini, which hit the spot for a quick mid day snack. The cacio e Pepe was well seasoned, but the spinach was not. Small interior with 2 tables and some outdoor seating.

Wow incredible! First time here based on reviews and what a gem! Pinsa, Caprese and focaccia were perfect!!!

OBSESSED. Nando is a an absolute dream to work with on catering, you can not find a more considerate or thoughtful food vendor. I catered a small group of what ended up being 22 people people the other day and called Castanea because of the reviews but was deterred by the "Surprise me" option. The owner reassured me by phone of what would be provided and let me tell you that my guests were incredibly delighted. The offerings were scrumptious and excitingly unique. I had a pistachio croissant that had pistachio cream oozing out of all corners, and it was perfectly crispy (how do you do that?!) There were goodies I could not even imagine on the table and a great array of iced drinks. The pizzas looked incredible, but being a nice hostess (ha), I let my guests have at them and there were ooos and ahhs at all corners of the table. Everything was carefully labeled and filled with the most divine yummy options. I think the 6 extra folks who joined us simply came for the treats as they heard whimpers of food joy through the halls. I will definitely be ordering from this company again, they are literally a dream to work with. I highly recommend eating there, ordering catering from there and enjoying the best of Sicily in the States! I am looking forward to visiting again also, like, REALLY looking forward to it! I will see if anyone took pictures, as this one does not do it justice, but you can see the thoughtful labeling. Who does that? Get in there before they get too popular and jaded because these are the NICEST people with the most deliciously sinful treats.

Great service and cute store as I need to go back and try the lemon sorbet. They provide indoor and outdoor dining options with a wide array of offerings throughout the day. Had the Italian sandwich which was delicious and fresh and cooked at the spot.

It's been a while but had a bombolone today and am reminded how amazing their food still is. I definitely need to start going there more. Best bombolone ever!

Ricotta/Pistachio Cannoli and nutella filled bombolone

Absolutely loved this place! The cannoli with ricotta and the bombolone (a freshly made filled donut) were both outstanding: light, fresh, and not overly sweet, which is rare. You can tell everything is made with care. The vibe is warm and lovely. Highly recommend if you're looking for an authentic Sicilian pastry experience. Will definitely be back!

Man of man, where do I start?! This place is phenomenal!!! It all started when my wife and baby were taking a walk in the neighborhood, and she sent me a picture of their storefront knowing how much I love and have a hard time finding Italian food places here in LA. Well technically, Italian food places that I like lol Being an Italian American, born and raised in New York City, I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to Italian foods and pastries in LA. So when my family and I came in not too long ago to give them a try, my guard was up lol But our first impression blew me away! The customer service was phenomenal. The young ladies behind the counter was so friendly and patient as my wife and I were deciding on what to get while dealing with our baby running around the store. And then we met the wonderful, generous and sweet owner, Nando. Who on his way out, took the time to introduce himself and chat with my family and I. We instantly connected on being Italian and now in the Los Angeles area. Since then, my family and I have been inside a handful of times ordering and enjoying a handful of mini items. Their Italian coffee is delicious, so much so that I've even started to purchase their espresso for me to enjoy at home. And their cannoli, is a real authentic cannoli. Something I have missed dearly since I've been here in Los Angeles. Even when I have found places that also have real authentic cannolis, there's just something about this that is delicious. It is freshly made and filled to order. How it should be! Although the pastries are fantastic. But honestly speaking, because I'm always honest in my reviews. Some of their pastries are not for everyone. They have pastries that are on the sweeter end, if you are into those and pastries that aren't so much. Including another childhood lifelong favorite Italian pastry of mine called, sfogliatella. I'm not ashamed to admit, the first time I been to this, tears came to my eyes lol This place to me is special, it reminds me of home and my family in so many ways. I can go on and on about how delicious everything is and just how overall fantastic the vibe and energy is when you walk in those doors. But I won't bore you, I'll just highly recommend you stop by for a delicious cup of espresso and something to eat. You won't be disappointed!

Charming little Sicilian Café, my first time trying Arancini fried rice balls, delicious!

Went back again. Such a cute little Cafe with nice people working there. Serena was making sandwiches for the Kardashians. I guess they're regular customers. I tried the cold brew. It was very good with a nutty kind of flavor.

Honestly, it worked out perfectly because they had AC and it was HOT in Beverly Hills that day lol. The inside of the restaurant was actually really beautiful too! I loved the decor and the vibe felt way nicer indoors. Looking back, we probably should've just asked to sit inside instead of outside because of the heat The food was oh so so so very good! Everyone in our group enjoyed everything we ordered, from the appetizers all the way to dessert. HIGHLIGHT of our lunch: my husband and I surprised my mother-in-law with a bouquet of pink roses, so we asked the hostess if they could keep it in their cooler room until the end of lunch. After dessert, they brought the flowers out for us and my mother-in-law was so surprised and happy It honestly made the whole celebration feel extra special. There are other locations but this I think was the first one and since it was the one I frequented it's the one I will miss. I have so many fond memories of this restaurant. I came here as a little girl with my family because it was casual enough for a well mannered child but fancy enough to please the adults. One time I decided to get into shape. Every time someone asked me out for lunch or dinner I said I wanted to go to Il Fornaio. I would order a bowl of the vegetable soup or vegetarian soup of the day and the Regina Salad. The salad did wild arugula, couscous, avocado, red onions, capers, raisins, and lemon oil dressing. It was a fabulous and filling meal that also kept me skinny. I could honestly eat it every day and never get bored. During Covid I came here and we ate outside on the sidewalk. We enjoyed watching the pedestrian scene and "staying safe" while being able to eat out again. I really missed going out and I felt comfortable here which was important during Covid time. Every Halloween Il Fornaio would have 1/2 price pizza. My family made a tradition to order it. I LOVED this tradition and I'm going to miss it this Halloween. Their pizza was delicious. One time I came here with a boyfriend because they had a cooking class in the back. They had a huge entertainment room in the back of the restaurant. I wish I had a chance to have a special event here to rent it out. We had so much fun as we watched the chef talk about how to prepare each dish and what was even better is that we got to taste it in the end. We ate seabass with golden raisins, baked pasta with eggplant, and a cannoli for dessert. They even had a party souvenir which was an Il Fornaio plate to hang on the wall. Last time I came here was on the Fourth of July last year. It was also dine-la and they had the best deal of any of the dine-la restaurants. Not all the dine-la deals are good but this one truly was one of the best in terms of value for money. It was a three course meal with the most delicious fish entree. Who doesn't love a good deal? We had a fabulous time! Lastly, in recent years they added a happy hour menu to the restaurant and it was fabulous. I did another review on that so I'll keep it short here but the food and drinks were just wonderful. I will miss the friendly waiters who have been there forever. They don't make them like that anymore. Arrivederci to a true "classic"!

Less is more. But let's talk art (culinary, that is). The dishes certainly deserve main features. To start "the best Caesar salad in LA" and I quote which was certainly true. Grilled octopus charred on the inside and juicy at the center. Spicy pomodoro is perfectly al dente and a well-balanced sauce. But, my favorite-- the agnolotti! Wow, melt in your mouth! The flavor profiles of corn, crème fraiche, and old bay were delicious. My only wish -- larger serving of this (smallest pasta serving on the menu). To complete it, banana pudding tiramisu -- delicious too with a firm center and oozy outside. Atala was wonderful and very sweet. Recommendation: come with a group of at least 4 to try more on the menu -- the large plates (branzino and ribeye) looked excellent! Definitely a worthwhile visit.

Straightforward dishes presented with panache. Efficient and timely check-in and friendly service. Both times, we sat at the counter which, to me, is the best way to experience this place. This visit was pretty much exactly the same, except it lacked its original luster. A perfect example is their signature dish, the spicy pomodoro. The visual presentation of this dish used to be eye candy. A glistening and generous pool of basil oil neatly poured into a hollowed out dollop of ricotta, atop a mound of impeccably dressed and perfectly cooked pasta. Gorgeous. But this time all of the visual proportions were off. And the portion was smaller. Instead of being a showstopper, the dish looked a little sad compared to the original. Last night, it arrived with a tiny splash of basil oil that punctuated a smallish schmear of dense ricotta. The pasta was fine. But it wasn't at all spicy and it did not feel the least bit elevated. In other words, this dish has lost its mojo. We also ordered the pasta special. Short rib raviolis. It was rich and delicious. No complaints. Only praise. The service is still casual yet professional, and best of all, pleasant and accommodating. The new raw bar across the way is a bit of a scene, in a good way, and kind of clubby...with really good air conditioning. Last night it was pretty hot outside, and more-so inside the restaurant at the counter. It's especially hot if you happen to get seated by the heat lamps (food warmers). Pro tip: Avoid these seats if you can!

It was limited options, but I do like they have an amuse bouche tasting course and then in all the cart side. I know, crazy, right? But we did it! You'd think just having the Porterhouse would be enough -- apparently it wasn't because we started with bread. At our server's recommendation we chose the bruschetta. Wow, what a fantastic start! The crunchy charred bread topped with the creamy Burrata and house made apricot jam was beyond delicious! Then he asked for his favorite pasta from our last visit -- SPAGHETTI ALL'ARRABBIATA. We can never get tired of this one. The house made pasta coated in that spicy sauce is so satisfying. Then came the steak. Although our server warned us that it was huge, we were still surprised when it arrived. But then came the included sides of fried fingerling potatoes and Ruchetta salad -- to say 'generous portions' is an understatement. I literally laughed at the mountain of salad when it arrived. It was all just incredible. The Prime Porterhouse was at the correct temperature, seasoned well and melt in your mouth amazing. The fried potatoes were hot, crisp and tasty. The salad was so good that the husband ate it -- I couldn't believe it! I tapped out early and in order to leave room for dessert, I had to force the husband to stop. We chose the CROSTATA DI MARMELLATA because of the apricots. We were so happy to have dined while they're in season and incorporated into Mother Wolf's menu. We were then surprised with complimentary sorbet (NETTARINA) and gelato (VANIGLIA) for our birthdays. Beautifully presented, the sweetness of each dessert was perfectly balanced and a wonderful end to a fantastic dinner. And this goes without saying -- service was impeccable.
