We were looking for food late at night and found this place. It's open 24 hours which was great because we were really hungry. We ordered the California burrito and Carne asada burrito, they were huge! There was a good amount of meat and filling on both burritos. The salsa bar was fully stocked with a variety or hot sauces, limes, carrots and peppers. The creamy green salsa and smokey salsa were the best and hot. Service was quick and easy. I will definitely come back when I am in the area again.

I really liked the food from here, I ordered a carne asada burrito, it was huge, very meaty and flavorful. They have a excellent selection of salsa ranging from mild to very hot. The medium green salsas are my favorite, they also had a green creamy salsa with a kick to it. The pickled carrots and peppers were freshly filled and I got to enjoy that as well. I like that this place is open 24 hours and has fast service.

    California burrito. HUGE. AND BIRRIAQUESO.

This is a great place in my opinion for a hunger fix at any time. Open 24 hours, no matter what feeling you may have. Everything is made to order so it's fresh. If people complain about how long it takes to wait, well it's because they are freshly making it. It's not like a fast food where the food is premade. The vibe of the place is your standard dine in/ drive thru so it's nothing too special. The food always tastes great and the workers are really accommodating and nice.

Got carne asada fries during my lunch break and halfway in found out that the potatoes were undercooked. Walked back in for a refund and they stated "we dont care" its been 10 minutes and I already have diarrhea. Going to hospital to get my stomach pumped and sending them the bill. Then reporting them to the BBB for improper food handling DONT EAT HERE

Located on Clairemont Mesa Blvd diagonally across the street from the Nissan dealership. Across the Mercury St from Cheetahs if you need a more well known landmark. It's a few blocks off of the 163 and has a drive-thru (because it was once a Burger King). The interior layout is still pretty much the same as when it was BK with the exception of the salsa bar. Service is pretty fast if you're on-the-go or aiming for late night/early morning meal. Had to go to a morning appointment and needed a quick meal before work. I had tried this place out when it first opened many years back but felt like I should give it another shot. 1 lb California Burrito was pretty filling. Taste was okay and salsa definitely helps. Note that if you go here to pay in cash. When comparing my receipt to my card's records, there was an unmentioned $0.41 charge that I assume was a card convenience fee.

My mind was hungrier then my stomach, lol. I ordered a carne asada fries thinking I would eat the whole thing.... yea,,, that didn't happen! I ordered over the phone and went to pick up my food and decided to eat in the lobby for my lunch. The salsa bar was awesome, because Im picky about my salsa matching the food ‍ the carne asada fries were humongous and definitely worth the price. I can't believe I really thought I would eat it all and I didn't even get half way. Food was great, Jamaica juice was refreshing and the salsa bar was all worth it. I will definitely be coming back with help next time, lol. I DIDNT HAVE THE TIME TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THE FOOD Thank you

This local taco chain became the replacement business when a longtime Burger King permanently closed several years ago. Like others have mentioned, the parking lot was very small. Most of its business came from the drive-thru orders even though the dine-in area could seat many people. When I arrived (and left), there were no customers inside so I had the entire place to myself. There was plenty to choose from the menu, and it was actually a bit overwhelming. I ended up picking three chicken flautas with guacamole and cheese, a shrimp taco, and a grilled fish taco. When the food was ready, I noticed the portion sizes were solid for the price. The flautas were long and smothered with guac and cheese. They were not overly crispy but still had a nice crunch to them. Both the shrimp and fish tacos were each stuffed and rested on two flour tortillas. I didn't get any condiments from the self-serve bar, but there was a variety of salsas and toppings. The restaurant kept the bar covered and chilled to 37 degrees Fahrenheit which I thought was great for food hygiene practice. The 24 hours/7 days a week operation for Castañeda's Mexican Food was a bonus because this model has become far and few between, especially after the pandemic challenges.

Conveniently located close to Convoy. I like their 5 rolled tacos, carne asada fries and new item the San Felipe fries. The workers are always nice to chat with. Quick service quality food. The San Felipe fries has shrimp. They're open 24 hrs which I like also. Mel M Yelp 23:2

If you're looking for 24/7 Mexican grub on Convoy Street, this is the place to hit up. The price isn't bad for the massive portions you get, and the food comes fast and is pretty delicious! I definitely recommend the adobada fries here.

Super dark and I mean dark, it'll take a minute for your eyes to adjust. Tapas style menu, we were a party of 4 and ordered: Squash blossom Relleno - it's the flower part of a squash plant and stuffed with mushroom duxelles which resembles a meat mixture with squash succotash. Outside is a corn tempura with a tomato base sauce. Pulpo-grilled octopus, one of the best texture and perfectly grilled skin with a chewy yet soft interior. The sauce has a slight kick and crunch from the corn nuts. Crab corn doughnut- this is their specialty and we were about to skip out but glad we didn't. The brioche bun had a donut batter with lumps of crab salad and corn mixture on top. El Festin- perfect for our party of 4 because it was a platter full of 4 Cheese quesadilla, 4 shrimp, 4 chicken slices, 1 jalapeño bacon wrap, ribeye. Flan-we should have each ordered one ourselves! Great flavors and texture, the top had ancient chocolate soil and had crispy corn nuts. Different but yummy. Overall, delicious food that came out so quick, great ambiance, we celebrated our birthdays and were each gifted candles with our names on the label. Truly amazing from beginning to end. Street parking only. The spots on the same block are metered but if you drive down to the second street towards residential, it's free.

Did as suggested, used an Uber to get there, didn't see any parking within close proximity as it is connected to the Lafayette Hotel and Club. Beautiful entry way, eyes definitely need to adjust to the darkness, lit candles everywhere; very church-like. The stained glass is beautiful. Tableware, tables, chairs somewhat Gothic. It did smell like candlewax, a bit overwhelming. Being able to see the open kitchen, was hoping to smell amazing dishes being prepared instead. I went by the reviews I read earlier, so we chose the Pulpo, perfect to share. Charred perfectly, tender on the inside on a spread of molè and bits of corn nuts, fabulous! Great presentation! Also tried the lentil spread, filling and plenty to share once again, tangy and spicy; our favorite appetizer. For a dish we shared the Chamoy bbq ribs, fell right off the bone; a tad salty. Corn ribs were tasty, wish they were fresh, a tad mushy and too salty. The pineapple Pico was just okay. We also ordered a passion fruit margarita and a Motomami, both were wonderful! Service was great, we were checked on often but then again it was a Thursday early evening and not busy yet. I would like to visit again and try other suggested dishes, when in town.
