Went here recently and had dinner at a table in the bar area. Wow the renovation is impressive. The food was mostly good between the 4 of us. Nice beer menu on the TV rotating by. Good pulled chicken sandwich. Crab cake sandwich was good also. Really nice patio area with fire pits/ fire globe. Too cold to check it out totally that night but could see through the window. And didn't see the new whiskey room either we heard about a while back. I will check out next time. A nice cozy fire place in the other room though. Service was good. The bar area can get quite loud though. I would suggest some sound baffles eventually on the ceiling. Large glass windows, tile and hard ceiling reflecting a lot of sound around in there. The owners, Ron and Sharon hit the nail on the head with the extensive craft beer offerings, fantastic fresh food (no deep fryers here), casual atmosphere and friendly and knowledgeable staff. * If you sit at the bar, ask Heather or Courtney for recommendations, because they are spot on. What is really nice is the atmosphere. No blaring music. You can actually have a conversation. And if you like beers, you must go to a tap takeover. They are every Tuesday. We love Caston & Main Brew Yard! Kali is great company and an excellent bartender! You just have to come to see her in action and taste her drinks. I have been looking for a new place to escape from the humdrummery of the chain restaurants. Most pubs have same basic food. This place is different they put a spin on the food and make it there own. First to start I ordered a mojito and it was honestly the best tasting Mojito I've ever had. Next we ordered the nachos with chorizo. Omg wow these are really awesome, the jalapeños were pickled so starts off sweet then you get the heat. The chorizo on the nachos was very tasty and came covered in beer cheese soooo good. I absolutely love chorizo and it's all over there menu. On the way in I overheard someone talking about there wife loving a chorizo burger. So this is what I had for my main course along with bacon jalapeño macaroni salad. The burger was great , I thought the macaroni salad was okay kinda dry. We visited at dinner time on a Friday night and it was really busy. We were offered to sit on a couch with a table that extends up to you. We took it because we were kinda tired of waiting and tables were hard to come by. Not the best seating but I'm glad we did so. More adequate seating would be a home run. We stopped here because of all the positive reviews and were very disappointed. The meat in the steak tacos was fatty and cold. One leaf of cilantro per taco. The tortillas were cold. The best part of the meal was the pickled onions served with the tacos. The cheese in the quesadilla was stringy and hard to swallow. This was my second visit and I loved it both times! The friendly staff accommodated my requirements for my food allergies which is usually difficult at most restaurants. My pulled pork was delicious! The men in my party were pleased with their burgers. We enjoyed watching the Indians win yet another game tonight on their big screen TV's. Price came out to about $10 each. Atmosphere is casual and relaxing. A live band was starting to play just as we left which was cool for a Thursday night. They are expanding so under construction right now. Cocktails, atmosphere, and service are great. But, my food was just ok! Came in for brunch and my eggs were burnt on the bottom, which is a challenging task to do. Half of my breakfast potatoes were burnt. There was no butter on my toast also. But, the banana foster I had was absolutely amazing. My husband and friends had a fantastic time at this brewery. We happened to check it out from an even listed on Facebook for customer appreciation day. It will definitely be added to our brewery rotation. The service was friendly and always there when any of us wanted a drink or food (which was amazing!). Caston & Main is the perfect spot in the portage lakes. The food menu is great for a meal or hors d'oeuvres to share. The drink menu is even better - there is something for everyone. I drive by this restaurant every day on my way to work, but had never tried it until tonight (10-1-19). I watched the remodel last year and thought it looked very nice. My husband and I decided to stop in for dinner tonight. Upon entering the hostesses looked annoyed and it seemed that they were trying to decide who should greet and seat us. We chose to sit in the dining room. The menu looked quite promising and we ordered the crab dip and homemade chips as an appetizer. My husband ordered the turkey burger and a side of chips and I ordered the crab BLT. Our server was very attentive. The appetizer came out and the crab dip unfortunately looked like orange sludge. The flavor was bland and the texture was grainy and very beer flavored. The crab was nearly non-existent. The homemade chips were thin, oily and very salty. Not pleasant. Our entrees arrived and my crab BLT was soggy, not crisp, there was only 2 sprigs of greens and the remoulade was mostly spicy Dijon mustard. The crab patty was also very mushy and not seasoned. Very disappointing. I did not even eat all of it. The restaurant was very nice inside, the server was good, but the food and price were not worth going back again. Our dinner cost $44.00 with tip. Stopped in for the first time. What a pleasant surprise. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Husband tried several beers, I had a blackberry mule. This is not your usual bar food. We shared the meatballs, crab cakes, pork tacos and a fried Bologna sandwich. Everything was very tasty with a nice presentation. Our waiter Jeremy was very nice and helpful. We will be back. We wanted to finally try the Brew Yard on Sunday. There were 3 of us and the table we wanted had to be bussed and no disinfectant spray was used on the table. Maybe the wipe cloth had disinfectant on it, but I prefer to see the spray. We ordered our meals and it took 40 min. to get it. When we were served, the Fried Green Tomato Benedict was cold, the potatoes were dark red and leathery. My BBQ Pork Benedict was cold, the potatoes leathery, couldn't find the green chilis or caramelized onions. Also the muffin used was very think and soggy. Both of us left half of the muffin. The 3rd meal was the "Warm goat cheese" Salad. The goat cheese was a small serving of cheese, the size of a golf ball and cold. The only thing good about it was the whole grain mustard vinaigrette. We had to ask for bread.... and it seemed to be a chore and imposition. The meals were served and neither the hostess nor the server saw we didn't have utensils. We had to ask for them. We had a Mimosa, Irish Whiskey on the rocks, ice tea and coffee. The atmosphere was very nice, but I would have a hard time ordering food again. Alcohol yes. Good luck!! read more
