This place is a favorite in the Castro. Amazing food, great ambience, and the best service. When it is nice outside they will do everything they can to get you seated outside. The couple that owns this place is the best !!

Super cozy cafe, great food and coffee, and service that couldn't be any friendlier! I wanted to sit down and have a relaxing 4pm cappuccino in a calm atmosphere, got exactly what I wanted.

I love this place so much! The food and service is amazing. We tried the Vietnamese coffee and banh mi. The banh mi bread was SO good - it's actually fresh baked. We got the Lemongrass Pork and BBQ Pork Egg flavors. Would recommend both but the Lemongrass Pork was my absolute favorite!! The coffee was strong and not too sweet. The service is excellent!! They are so friendly and fast. The food is reasonably priced as well. Castro tarts is truly a local gem.

What I really liked was the warm bread that came with the sandwich I asked for it to be spicy and that's what I got. It's more of a cafe for breakfast and lunch and feels warm and welcoming and greeted upon entry. Def will be back

I came here for the first time on Tursday 1/25/2024. This is very tiny resturant . The employees are sweet and friendly . They hava boty inside and ourside siiting area. I ordered their house special . The lady behind the counter chsrged me on her own for tips which I didnt apprecite. The food was not to my expectation . The ricecwas very dry and the taste was not thst great . Maybe i picked the wrong item. I will go back another time to order something else .

Stopped by here for a weekend lunch on a sunny day, and the owner was super sweet and friendly and rearranged the tables outside so we could sit in the shade. It's a cute spot serving Vietnamese food and classic breakfast dishes and pastries. We decided to try their Vietnamese food and went for the pho, the lemongrass vermicelli bowl, and the Vietnamese iced coffee. The pho was pretty bland and a little disappointing, but the vermicelli bowl was actually quite the opposite and packed with flavor. It's also not very cheap considering the food and the portions, but overall it is a cute spot if you happen to want to grab a quick bite in the Castro.

This mom and pops shop is great! There was no wait to be seated, the grilled cheese tasted just like the one that my mom would make in her shop, and the Vietnamese coffee had the perfect combination of sweetness and coffee! I highly recommend this shop!

"Mom! Let's go to Sweet Maple for Mother's Day brunch!" We…read morecasually stroll from our beautiful hotel (because we overslept the 1st floor breakfast buffet offering) to a corner restaurant -"Sweet Maple". The line was 20 people PAST the bus stop. I asked a passing waitress how long was the wait--(30 minutes she said confidently). I had ZERO faith in that estimate. I was wrong. About EVERYTHING. The Host was a genius. Our waitress was a royal. Her serving team was the Kentucky Derby of thoroughbreds racing to place the silverware, condiments, used dishes, and refilled coffee going. The food tasted Michelin level. I can SAY that because we had eaten dinner at an actual Michelin rated restaurant the night before. (No Yelp rating needed because they ABSOLUTELY deserved it= NARI) I had a FRIED French Toast BECAUSE it cannot sit waiting to be served. My daughter had Eggs Benedict and the granddaughter had fresh fruit, fresh squeezed OJ in an ADULT glass (because she is a Big Girl now). While we paid our tab we heard a woman scream "I'm giving this restaurant a ONE STAARR REVIEW on YELP because of this WAIT!!!" OMG I thought someone had been ROBBED--but..on THIS Mother's DAY..it was only a spoiled young lady with poor manners. For me...now at a point in life that WAITING anywhere for anything is a PERCENTAGE of TIME I have LEFT to live...this breakfast was easily worth the time that it cost in human terms. Go any time you got a Mom, Grandma, Dad, offspring, first date or best friend you want to share a moment in time with early in the day over food and drink. No waiting worth mentioning. Thanks

Today is a great day to give this place the recognition it deserves!…read moreMy hubby & I have been coming here for a couple of years now & I don't know why I haven't done a review of my wonderful experiences in the past and especially now?!! :)) Today we came for a late lunch but we came on time before they close around 2pm..actually the last call to order food! I'm glad we got there!! The sweet hostess..Crystal Gayle..took down our name..we didn't wait long & got a table where are awesome server Thomas took our order! My hubby got the Fried Egg with avocado & bacon along with their signature plow potatoes with ice tea! I ordered the Scrambled Eggs with shiitake mushrooms..sweet corn & goat cheese..side of buttered toast & their amazing coffee! Love their coffee coz it's always good there! We shared their yummy delicious biscuit and that sweet butter! So So good I can't get enough of it! :)) That's if you're a butter person which I'm All About..a Butter Girl! This place isn't very big but I love the ambience & the coziness of it! It's like eating in the presence of your own kitchen! With great hard working..happy employees ready to serve hungry people like us! We're never disappointed leaving after my hubby & I eat there! So try this fabulous place! Good food.. Good Place..Great Workers! :)) Shout out to Brit..by the way..who has served us a couple of times before Is an AWESOME Gal! Always with a great smile & helpful making sure we're good in every possible way from giving us our food & filling our cup of coffee..she & the others that work there is what makes us go back! It's not easy to work in the food industry if one doesn't have the energy or passion to do their best! But PLOW is that place where you leave full and satisfied! Thank you to everyone @ Plow! Hubby & I will continue to support & go there!! :))

90 minutes on a Sunday - you put your name down, can leave but need to be back or they will skip…read moreyour name and no texting or anything. I actually don't mind that- almost half the people were not around and it made the wait go faster. But I was a bit annoyed they sat us at a counter without asking- it was fine but we were expecting a table and would have probably rather wait a little longer for one. They only asked about inside vs outside and we said either was fine but no indication that we needed to mention we wanted a table. Most places seem to give you the heads up and make sure it was fine. Oh well. Everything sounded great and "The Plow" included 2 lemon ricotta pancakes, 2 eggs, pork sausage (you can also get chicken apple sausage links or bacon), and potatoes. The one nice thing of the counter is you get to watch them make everything and it is so organized and efficient. Food was solid. The wait went by pretty quick and wasn't a factor for me. I thought the pancakes were just okay- with all the hype I guess I expected them to be amazing but I honestly make better lemon ricotta pancakes (LOL). I think they needed a lot more lemon zest, maybe a touch of sugar, and the salted butter sounds great but added literally nothing. Maybe it was an off day and they weren't bad my any means but definitely nothing special. Similar thoughts on the pork sausage which was maybe slightly overcooked and the eggs which were a little under seasoned and I prefer mine a bit runnier. The potatoes were excellent, I liked those a lot and their hot sauce is very good too. $27 for the plate which seems a bit high but it's brunch in SF and it's nice they have the option to get the savory stuff but also a couple pancakes. And considering a single pancake is $7.50 it seems like a much better option to get the plate (overall all their sides are almost laughably priced ordered a la carte). I will say they use nice ingredients and a lot of the same producers I try to support in my own shopping/cooking as well as the same type of practice like pasture raised eggs. That in itself makes me feel good supporting them. I'd consider coming back but would request to sit outside and enjoy the vibes, definitely get something with potatoes, and maybe some hot sauce to go. Three and a half stars, I rounded up for now and will re-evaluate after another visit.
